[q] init.d alternative - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey!
Atm i'm using FuguMod #371 which supports UV but it seems like it doesn't support init.d.
How is it possible to load scripts on boot?
Is there an alternative to init.d?
Thanks

As far as I know, at least Semaphore supports init.d.

yeah i tried it before but i really h8 the green flash that appears when screen goes off its annoying
CF-Root and Semaphone both has init.d.
for the screen off issue with Semaphone i.e. actully voodoo side effect, to solve you have to install Voodoo control from Market and then set 'Screen v1 gamma hack offset value' to default 2.3.3.

[Q] Init.rc

Does the captivate or any of the kernals support init.rc? If so how do I enable it?
I don't know what init.rc is, but several of the custom kernels use init.d in them.

Init.rc Is the file IN the kernel that tells the system what directories to make, how to mount them, what services to run and sets various system parameters. In other words every kernel has init.rc in it. If it didn't the phone wouldn't be able to boot.
I believe you are referring to init.d in your op though which most modified kernels do have enabled as the previous poster said.

The reason I was asking is because I am use this script to create some tweaks on my captivate and it asks if init.rc is activated.

I was not sure if I could use it on the captivate

Oh I've heard that it will work but I've never tried them. At worst the only thing that would happen is it won't work if you try it.

init.rc tells the phone where to load the system in the booting process, worse case scenario is it boot loops.. .

Are you using a stock rom?
All customs roms have a kernel that support init.d
I recomend you Battery extender 1.5.1 OC but you can use too nims11 and cf-root b84+fix
Fisrt of all you need a custom rocovery (CWM 5.0.2.6. Fixed) [root is not required because this kernels will root your phone ] and then flash it and you'll get all adventages tweaks the abillity to OC your processor, custom bootanimations (not with nims11), init.d support...
Here you have Root + CWM 5.0.2.6. FIXED
Look for kernels in Original Android and Android Development section
If you choose Battery Extender kernel 1.5.1/1.6 visit my thread "Save battery without any app!" to add some tweaks as background-buttons off, reduce brightness and set CPU frequencies without using Setcpu/no-frills etc
Thanks a lot man, Then i have alredy a other kernel...but i Better download yours
So...yeah. thank you (;

You don't need a custom kernel to have init.d support!
You can enable init.d support by downloading Universal Init.d Support from the Play Store. You just need a rooted phone!
