Swype v3.5 BETA released!
What's so special about Swype v3.5 Beta Release?
Tap Correction
In v3 of Swype, we're introducing full tap correction functionality.
Having trouble getting the hang of Swype and just want to tap for a little while?
Prefer to tap out some words while Swyping others?
No need to switch keyboards!
Swype's powerful tap prediction and correction engine is based on
many of the same principles that make Swyping so effective.
We emphasize speed over accuracy, so tap away with reckless abandon,
and Swype will still make sure you're getting the words you want.
Automatic tap correction is enabled by default,
but you can control exactly how it behaves through the new
"Word Suggestion" category in Swype's settings screen.
Simply long-press the Swype key,
choose "Options" and then go to "Word Suggestion."
You'll be able to set whether corrections happen automatically,
whether Swype shows the actual tapped characters or
the first suggestion in the active text field,
and whether to show word suggestions at all.
Horizontal Word Choice List (HWCL)
While the pop-up Word Choice Window served us well for a long time,
we have decided to utilize
Android's built-in horizontal word choice list functionality,
bringing us in line with evolving input standards.
Now, when you tap or Swype a word,
suggestions will be displayed in a scrollable horizontal list above the keyboard.
This has several major advantages:
No matter what happens,
when you Swype something,
a word will always be entered into the active text field.
We're able to display more suggestions at a time.
When you tap out a word, the characters you actually tapped,
regardless of predictions,
will appear at the beginning of the suggestion list.
Choosing to use a word you tapped in,
when it's not in our dictionary,
it will offer option to add word to your dictionary via the HWCL;
no more automatically adding misspelled words to the dictionary.
Honeycomb support
It's not related to our Nexus S, so I take it off
Licensing Fix
Swype will no longer fail to license after rebooting,
with the error "Swype is configured for another device."
This issue was due to a feature of new phones called "quickboot"
and has been resolved.
On CDMA devices,
Swype was unable to authorize its licensw,
when the device was in Airplane Mode.
Now, if Swype detects that your device is in Airplane Mode,
things will continue running as they should.

I've been rocking swype since day 1 and absolutely love it. The new version definitely has some noticeable upgrades, but one issue I'm having with the suggestion box is that it pops up when I swype passwords, revealing my password. Is there a way to turn this feature off when swyping in a password dialogue box? Otherwise I will have to downgrade to the previous version of swype as it was "smart" enough to realize this.
Swyped from my iPhone killer/HTC Desire
I'm not having the same problem with passwords, so long as the web site hides it as I input it.
Loving version 3, btw....
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
it isnt working for me
I get the keyboard, but when i try to use swype it doesnt input the letters
I see the trail.
I can type the letters in though
Was able too access the site and download the beta ask on my phone. Loving the swype action as we speak

Working great on my nexus, seems more accurate then before and love the prediction box at the top

Hey Tank. That has happened to me occasionally. Pretty simple fix. Long press on the input bar and select input method. Select the android keyboard. Then long press again, input method, select swype. It kind of reboots it I guess. Shouldn't have any more problems from then on.
3.6 is out. Swype installer will load it for you
Impressed myself
I really like the changes
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
I got an email today saying that the new one was available.
I really like the changes they made.
I did have to delete the old one a re-install/install the new one.
works great and haven't gotten a prior problem of needing to select input method every other text.
I never been able to figure out of you can do something about this.
My only gripe with Swype is if you hit the SYM key to press ? you have to hit the SYM key again to switch back to the QWERY layout. This sole reason alone is why I continue to go back to the stock keyboard.
OP, your font for the swype keyboard is different than mine. Mine is terrible; frail looking. I want to use swype but that alone kills it for me. Does anyone know how to change the font for swype?
God help you if ur on miui rom and want this ver of swype. I don't even know which combination worked to get it to license, but biggest PITA..
If anyone needs help tho (re miui) , feel free to ask or pm me.

You have create your own keyboard images to change the font. It is a rather long process.
That's the same font mine came with.

hello users!
my father has a touch Pro, but he is really struggeling with it. the touchflo 3D is just too difficult to even make a simple call. (you have to go to home menu and then click keypad or something)
is there a shell (like spb shell) where you have a simple menu with contact, call now, email, internet etc? so u can quickly see what to choose? i know spb shell but are there more of these kind of shells?
thanks in advance ^^
You could always disable touchflo 3d.

So pressing the "green" key is too complex?
green key brings up a list of people you called and have called you... does not bring up a keypad to simply call people for as far i can remember. for people who aren't in your adress book. i'll check it tomorrow. and disabling touchflo 3D doesn't really make stuff simpler, windows thing sucks big time!
What I do is use rlToday. rlToday is a today screen plugin that is completely customizable using XML code, which can be setup to look and display just about anything.
http://rotlaus-software.de/projects/rltoday/
Not everyone is XML savvy but luckily it supports themes from other users (which can be edited to your liking). I normally use Custom roms that exclude the default shell all together, or simply disable it in favor of rlToday.
There are TONS of user made skins ranging from various complexities. I favor simplistic approaches. My theme has a large digital clock toward the top, displays the date in a smaller bold font as well with the Carrier name when service is available. At the bottom I used a finger-friendly simple button graphic that is repeated 4 times along the bottom to act as quick shortcuts. The 4 graphics is SMS, Email, Missed Calls, and VM... each with a simple numeric counter that displays the amount of each. Each finger-friendly graphic acts as a shortcut to their respective programs.
Simply copy this folder into the rlToday install directory (\Program Files\rlToday\). Then on the main screen, tap and hold for a popup menu which has Options. There is a Skin tab which contains a dropdown box which should now list "Diamond". Selecting this and exiting the config app will show it now being displayed as the homescreen.
You can also customize my theme to include more buttons for such as your browser. The code is already in place, you would just have to copy the code for a button, duplicate it, and manipulate a few things such as the name displayed and the location of the program launched.

Pressing the Green key does bring up the dialer pad making it easy to make a call.

no it brings the keypad
now nobody claimed WM is the easiest thing to use
nobody forced anybody BUYING WM either
better get your father a (simple) Nokia
The green button brings up the number pad. From there you can start dialing a number or type a name using the keypad which will bring up the best matches.
I actually LOVE this feature. You really only need to press 2-3 buttons to get to any contact on your phone.
Anyway, it sounds like a Windows Media phone was a poor choice and may be a bit complex for your father. I still stand by my logic that using rlToday as a homescreen is the best choice as you can put exactly what your father requires.

More like a Jitterbug
To make a simple call, just press the 'send' key at the bottom left. . goes straight to a regular-ass keypad.
edit: sorry. . already mentioned earlier. . I don't have a 'green' key tho
....
F it!! Just get him a Jitterbug.
(I was looking for their theme song as a ring tone for my dad... but then my dad died so I have nobody to use that on)
The key isn't green! Its a white phone, not a green one.
Maybe the Sprint versions have a green phone button.
You bloody idiot, it is the sme damn button.
OK this whole thread needs closing.
It is white on Sprint and green on Verizon, not sure about GSM. Either way it does bring up the phone keypad.
It really is not all that complex, he just needs someone to explain some of the easy functions to him. If that is not good enough he really should not be using this device.
there is a learning curve on switching phones.
tf2d is similar to tf3d but a tiny bit simpler
spb products are somehwat easy but u need to pay
home 1 and home 2 is very simple and its free but u can pay for pro
he can even open the phone to the qwerty and type in who he wants to call and done
Good Luck
SwiftKey has released their tablet version for beta testing. You can sign up for an account at www.swiftkey.net/vip to be a part of the beta testing program.
I signed up for the SwiftKey Vip account and was confirmed within 5 minutes and was able to download the beta right away. I am running Calkulins rom with clemsyns latest kernel and was able to get it installed. Once you install it you need to go into the language and keyboard settings and then to the swiftkey settings and install a language pack before attempting to use it or it will force close on you. As of right now I think I will be sticking with thumb keyboard as my primary keyboard though as swiftkeys keys are a little bit small for me.
Thank you, registered and received login almost instantly, using new keyboard to type this.

madj1,
I like the neon (HC looking) keyboard theme.
Although, it took almost a day for the administrator to approve my access to the forum. Otherwise, I think it was worth getting. Thanks!!!
After the beta, will they lock the app and require purchase like on other android devices?
What's different?
Can someone list the differences between the version that is in the Market now and this "tablet" version? Screencaps would be great too.
Thanks in advance.
Rapidly has become my favorite
On Sunday Amazon App store had the paid std swiftkey for free. I installed it, downloaded the language pack, and within 2 days it has become my keyboard of choice.
See attached screencaps of the version, and features

Anyone? What is the difference between the tablet beta Swiftkey and the current Market version? I was hoping they would divide up the keyboard like the TnT keyboard so that my thumbs won't have to hyper-extend to get at the center keys.
I've been using the Market version for about a week now and honestly for me it's not all that great. The word predictions are cool and work about 60% of the time but if I have to type the entire word it's awkward for my thumbs to reach the center keys. And I have pretty big hands; I can't imagine how much more awkward it would be for folks with smaller hands.
Between the TnT keyboard, the Swype keyboard, and the Swiftkey keyboard I would have to say my preference is in that order at the moment (TnT, Swype, and Swiftkey).

I find the swiftkey to be similar to TNT western, with arrow keys (a must for me), works better in portrait mode than TNT western, I like the android keyboard but was using the notion ink keyboard exclusively as it had easy access to the arrow keys,
I use a standard 3-4 finger typing method so don't have a thumb reaching issue, needless to say the tab is propped up (inclined) when I type.
Swiftkey beta
I ran the Swiftkey beta on my Droid1 and when it came out of beta they sent me an email telling me I could upgrade for free.

I've explained in my reply that the v2.0 development will bring lots of changes, so it's better to delay the translation work until my main dev work is almost done. Just wait for maybe two weeks. I will contact with you later
Thank you in advance

Sweet! I can do the Swedish translation when the app is finished.
Can't wait to try this out next week! thanks!
Just downloaded RapDialer. Pretty nice. I'll give it a try instead of the built-in dialer to see how much I like it.
Thanks!
Yes it's realy good!! I can translate to Hungarian if you like .
great app only bug i see so far is that it keeps telling me that there is a update available
So I decided to try using RapDialer as my main phone dialer for a day and gave it first position on my tiles on my home screen. After doing this, the one major problem (which is mentioned in RapDialer's description) is that it doesn't have call history or SMS history. For me, that's a big dealbreaker since that's one of the main ways I use to call/SMS people that I last talked to.
I did like a lot about the app and I know that's the OS not giving the app the ability to access those things but nevertheless, they are important. Since I don't have a need for 3 tiles on my tile screen (Phone, Messaging, and RapDialer), RapDialer is going to have to go. If you do find a way, I'll gladly consider using it again.
Thanks!
I use RapDialer mainly for the quick dialing feature. easy to call and SMS friends that are not always in my recent list.
Until MS comes up with a better way to handle notifications, I'm stuck with 3 tiles on my homescreen.
It's a very nice app, clean and quick. Thank you!
I was wondering what improvements are you guys working on for v2? The app could use an even faster start up if possible? Also, it would be nice if you guys also do a homebrew version and use the new root tool from heathcliff to access the call history. Only then I could completely replace the default dailer ;D
German Translations
Hi!
Isn't this the same main concept as 7Dialer has?
There's a huge need for this quick dialing concept, yet i didn't really like the implementation of it.
I will try this one and if i like it and intend to use it further i could do german translations if you like.
I have already once translated a full set of mango system files.
Please notify me if your interested.
cheers,
Sneaky

Yes that's a little bug i've fixed in v1.8. If you are free please help me to check if the bug is actually fixed, since the bug only affects a few users.
On the other hand, you can disable the "auto check for update" in "Settings>Behaviors". Then the bug won't bother you.

I understand your feeling. At present what i can do is to make RapDialer the best under limitation for dialing and group text. After this part is well done, maybe there will be chances in WP update to make RapDialer more completed as we want. So i'm also building a foundation for the future

From the creators of Sliding Messaging Pro (@klinkdawg24 and I), we wanted to announce our newest project for you guys today! Sliding Emoji Keyboard!
Play Store description:
PLEASE READ:
--- If you don't read it, it will be very obvious to us and we WILL NOT be willing to help you. You have been warned. ---
This is a standalone keyboard that we have created with our app Sliding Messaging Pro. It is baked into that app, so there is no need to download here if you are only using it for that app, but we wanted to add it for anyone to use, even if you don't support us through that app.
This keyboard only supports Google's new Google+ emojis, the ones in their hangouts app.
NOTE: This app will NOT actually show the emojis in the text box or on the device unless your system supports them! Please understand this! We have no way to add support for that from this app. If you would like to get that working, you will have to have a rooted phone and change the system font to one that supports Google's emojis.
Even though it doesn't show them correctly in the text boxes, when you send the message/tweet/email or whatever you are using it for, they will show up correctly, again as long as the app supports Google's new emojis. The recipient will receive them fine as well, as long as their phone has emoji support. They will be received fine on any iOS devices and any messaging app for Android that supports them. Almost all do by now.
To actually see the emojis in the app, you will have to install an app that supports them. Examples of this would be: Sliding Messaging Pro, WhatsApp, Hangouts, and many more, you will have to find out yourself if the app you want to use our keyboard with supports them.
--- How to Enable/Use ---
To enable the "Sliding Emoji Keyboard", go to Setting -> Language & Keyboard, then check the "Sliding Emoji Keyboard" to enable it.
To use "Sliding Emoji Keyboard", you need to change the input method:
- In Android 2.3 and below, select "Sliding Emoji Keyboard" from the dialog that comes up after long pressing on any text box.
- In Android 4.0 and above, drag down the notification try when a text box is selected, then select "Sliding Emoji Keyboard" after switching the input method.
--- REMEMBER ---
As I said above, you won't be able to see all the emojis on the device! Sometimes they will show up as a blank space and usually they will show up as aiona black and white image of the selected emoji. THIS IS FINE. THEY WILL SEND CORRECTLY to all your friends that have support for them (again, iOS users and any Android messaging apps that have the emojis in them).
Please don't just rate it one star because you can't see the images. I have explained it to you, so there are really no excuses for this.
Thank you for reading, and if you didn't, remember that we will not be very willing to help or support you.
Credit to Andreas Stuetz for his PagerSlidingTabStrip!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Screenshots coming in the next post! Play store link will be coming soon, once the app is actually up on the store.
We think that it turned out very well. Looks great and supports Google's new emojis.
Some notes for Sliding Messaging Pro users:
- this app is baked right into Sliding Messaging, so you don't have to buy the keyboard to use it with our app, a little extra bonus for ya
- This keyboard is available anywhere in the system though if you do buy it, so if you want to use it with other apps, twitter, email, ect. you will have to buy it.
- We did it a little differently in Sliding Messaging to increase funtionality. It is the same concept here, just isn't able to actually display the emojis on the edittexts, where as it is able to do this in sliding messaging. So just know this, as it is explained in the description.
Hope you guys like our work! It should be up soon!
Here is the play store link! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.klinker.android.emoji_keyboard

Just put up version 1.20. This one contains a favorites tab that automatically stores your most used emojis. Great for quick access!
anyways I love your keyboard. great keyboard that has so many selections.
Yay
I love the look of these emojis all the colours and the style
Nice app!
thanks for this!
Ok, many emojies, try it.
Hi Guys, just getting acclimated to the S6, so far so good but one nagging issue.
I can't get the on-screen keyboard to display when needed with the physical keyboard attached. Lemme explain...
Sitting with device on my lap, keyboard folded all the way back. It is rightly disabled in this position so for any inputs I would need the on-screen keyboard (Ideally this would happen automatically since the physical keyboard is disabled)
I have 'Language and Input->Keyboards->Show Keyboard Button' set On, so I have the little keyboard button on the bottom right of the screen when an input field is active. I would expect press the button, select a keyboard and then see it.
But all the keyboard button does is pop up a selection dialogue with available keyboards (even if Samsung Keyboard is the only one), and when I make a choice, the dialogue disappears and then...nothing. This is where I expect the on-screen keyboard to come up but it just doesn't.
I've tried removing all other keyboards with just Samsung Keyboard remaining, same behavior.
I don't want to resort to removing the physical keyboard every time, or setting Physical Keyboard->Show On-Screen Keyboard to On because if I am using the physical keyboard I don't want to be constantly seeing and closing the on-screen verson.
Seems like a bug unless I'm missing something. Suggestions appreciated.
Thanks,
Howard
In Dex Mode you have this keyboard button - to show the software keyboard even when the physical keyboard is attached.

In Dex Mode you have this keyboard button - to show the software keyboard even when the physical keyboard is attached.

don't believe he is talking about DEX.
Ive not found a similar button for normal android mode.
I am having the same issue. In tablet mode with the keyboard folded behind the tablet I cannot figure out a way to get a keyboard on the screen. The physical keyboard is disabled like this because it does not enter text. Hitting the small keyboard button in the bottom right brings up google voice, samsung keyboard, and samsung voice. Samsung keyboard is selected but no keyboard appears. Looks like from that there "should" be a keyboard. Im thinking this is a bug.
OP here. A "Samsung Care Ambassador" provided very good feedback on a similar thread I started in the Samsung support forums. I'm too new here so can't post links but in Samsung -> Support -> Community search for the thread titled "Problem with Tab S6 Physical vs On-Screen Keyboard" to see the whole story. If someone here with >10 posts could reply with the link it will be easier for others here to view it.
Appreciate the replies.

Thank you for posting that !
I solved this by going to Settings - General Management - Language and Input - Physical Keyboard and turning on Show on-screen Keyboard. That seemed to work for me.
I tried enabling the function "show on screen keyboard", but now the on screen keyboard shows everytime, even using the physical one. There must be a function to activate the on screen kb only when the tablet is on portrait mode, with the pysical folded behind. I couldn't do it.
Anybody can share the solution? The link above does not work for me. Shows it is locked or missing :/
