Drawing straight lines/inaccurate touch screen. - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anybody figured out a way to draw straight lines on their galaxy tab easily?
I understand inaccurate touch screens are quite common on android, especially compared to apple products.
If a fix was possible, I guess it would have to be embedded in firmware or the os. Any thoughts?

Get a stylus and a ruler? I sure can't draw a straight line on my ipad with my fingers
swyped from a galaxy far far away

Maybe I should try it ;-)
All the lines I draw in drawing programs on my tab come out sort of wobbly. I tried using a demo ipad 2 earlier and the results were much more pleasing.
I suspect some smoothing could be applied to make the whole situation much more sane without losing any significant information.

I've got Sketch Book too. Seems to be the only real choice on Android.
The problem I have is with trying to draw a line slowly and even more so diagonally, which as I wrote before, I don't see on the ipad.
The smoother lines were drawn more quickly.

You can try touch screen booster sgs, play with that and see if it helps, I think the problem is it may be to sensitive

Thanks for the tip. I google for quite a while touch screen settings but nother turned up of use.

I can confirm this.
And personally I dont think there is a fix.

No dice Runs but doesn't make any difference.

Well remember the tab has a higher dpi than the ipad, I think its hard because your finger isn't going perfectly straight, see if a stylus would help and if it does you know its your finger

Tried a stylus before and out was even worse.
I'm using overcome, I'll check with altbridge if it honors ts.conf and see off the tunables there help.

BOOX M Series eReader

This looks like a pretty cool new device with a nice screen. Does anyone have any more specs/pricing besides whats in this article? It looks like it has HDMI out. I don't really like how it has a bezel and then a black border inside that before you get to the screen. I guess its confusing though because the four pictures that Slashgear has are of different devices when you look closely. The fact that it supposedly only has 800mhz processor, might keep the price down on it.

Whoever reported this info is way off in the weeds somewhere.
"features an E-Ink Vizplex display. The E-Ink display has a 8/16-level grayscale"
All of the pictures are of a color screen.
Here is a more believable picture.

Yeah I saw the onyx site too. That along with pics of two different devices in the article has me scratching my head. I took my nook back today and opened two new ones at B&N but they had bad flickering, so I'm currently nookless.
The Notion Ink Adam really has my interest for a supposed $375.

I don't have the flicker problem, or don't notice it. Anyway, there is a fix for that. There is a thread here or on Androidtablets that shows you how to increase the refresh rate of the NC.

[Q] Digitizer scrolls down suddenly/randomly

It seems my galaxy ace will suddenly scrolls down by itself, mostly in opera mini.
Sometimes, in google map, if "flicks" to another place by itself too.
Any one has the same digitizer problem? I'm thinking if I should take it for repair.
Or if someone already tried to get it fixed, but it'll never be fixed like some design error, I'd rather save my time...
Edit:
Tried both stock rom and CM7. My GF, a colleague and a friend who owns an ace told me they have the same issue
i have this bug too, and i think all ace users has it too. and for now there isnt any fix for it.
And I thought I was the only one having this problem. Samsung sucks >_<

I'll take it to Samsung later today.
I hope it can be fixed, its getting annoying.
Lol, you can't fix something that's wrong with all the Aces. I have that problem too. I'm guessing its another factory fault like the battery meter.
Got the phone back, the problem still exists.
What apps are u guys using when the erratic scrolls occurs?
No wonder samsung doesn't care, it seems the users don't really care, except me
I'll try to fix it in the touch driver in the kernel and release a patch if it's fixed.
The plan is to filter those extremely quick finger press and release events, where those events are impossible to be human(by time and distance of the 2 points).
I can't seem to find the kernel source for the CM7 roms for ace, so it'll be a patch for the stock kernel.
Same problem here, this scrolling glitch gets very annoying after some time
Its kinda spooky hhhh. Like a ghost using ur phone too
Is there any patch for it ?
For me it scrolls up...
Then I used a touch test and this after repeatedly moving my finger around in the left bottom corner, this is what I got.
This problem also makes it difficult to use swype!

I just seen a thread for this. Some people have taken their phone into repair which they can't fix it. Its a hardware fault. If you can prove that its doing that after they repair it, there is a chance to get a different phone of about the same value.

The Size

This tablet is the perfect size for a phone.
I hope you're just high and being funny, I would never have this size phone, I think 5.3" is the cut off. For most even that's too big.

Actually, with a Bluetooth headset it'd be doable imo. Would be nice to consolidate my devices a bit.

Once I get my I'm Watch the 7 will go in my bag and the watch on my wrist. Problem Solved. :]
Whenever I switch from the Nexus 7 to my Galaxy Nexus, I always think how did my phone shrink? My phone feels tiny now.
4 inches big enough for phone .
I have tha acer a500 10 inch tablet i hope i do not miss the screen size as much as i hate not fitting my tablet in my Purse.. And as far as phone size for my hands 4 inch is cut off size.. NOTHING BIGGER THEN THAT In For me ..
I feel the same way. My nexus feels like a toy now. I could definitely use this tablet as a phone (via BT).
It was awkward using the tablet for the free 10.00 they give in wallet though.
Wonderful as a speakerphone with Google Voice + Groove IP over WIFI while being able to do other things on it at the same time like booking Google Flights, watching Transformer although it's smart enough to mute the movie sound, etc.
Regarding the size. It makes my 4" Samsung Epic 4G really tiny switching from Nexus 7.
There are pre-existing threads discussing/debating the merits of various sizes of device, if you have anything constructive to add then you should do so in one of them.
And next time, search before posting.

Sixaxis Touch Profiles

I did some searching to find touch profiles for the Sixaxis Controller and came up practically dry for the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. I decided this would be a good forum to share profiles. I will be uploading my profile for Six Guns and I'm hoping to get ones for NOVA 3, Modern Combat 3 and Gangster Rio in the next little bit.

i did my own for mc3 and nova 3, but i had a hard time making one for ganstar rio because of the parts where you have to drive then get out and do things. but good luck with it. and if you end up making good touch profiles then hopefully you get stickied.
I don't understand why there aren't many profiles available for the Galaxy 10.1
I have been looking for months and always come across the same threads, with one or two profiles posted
Are there any other profiles available?
You can't find any because they are so easy to make. It's really not hard to do.

I know it is not hard to do, but it is a lot easier to upload a file to dropbox and share with people.
They are quite time consuming to make, if everyone shared, it wouldnt be as bad.....
Your logic isnt very good, if they are so easy to make, there would be more. Some people do not have a lot of free time (family, work). They rely on the generousity of others to help them out.

Lol takes 5 min to make one. You can make 2 while on the crapper. People just like to be spoon fed everything. I work and have a family and I still found time to make my own.

Nexus 7 Custom Car Holder

Hi guys, lately I have been thinking about making a holder for my Nexus to go in my car, so finally took the steps, a few weeks ago to make one, the first one was too heavy and just not right, so I decided to start making another.
It had to be light and easy to use.
The Nexus dock, has OTG, Charge and Audio. I can honestly say that it is starting to look the part and works flawlessly.
Here are some pictures of the first attempt,
http://fixer14.com/me/me/Projects/Nexus7/Nexus_First_%20Prototype/
Here is the progress on the second Build, wjhich is the one I am going to go with, It is not finished yet, but you will get the general Idea, soo far.
http://fixer14.com/me/me/Projects/Nexus7/Nexus_Second_Prototype/
I have also just within the last half hour finished cutting out what will be the front facia for the Holder.
Hi there, quick update on things, have managed to get the wooden front fascia fixed to molding, and have started to reshape it. Really nice fit and I deliberately made the holder to be 1/2 size of the nexus as it did not need to be full size and also adds a bit of quirkiness to it.
I have tried to incorporate a slight angle to the way the nexus will finally sit, when mounted, I do hope this is pleasing to those that visit and have a look.
More to come and will post when ready.
Here is an update, all sanded and filled ready for spraying now.
Something is wrong with your first pictures and the links. They are not showing up. I would like to see those pictures because I will also soon be installing the nexus 7 on my car.
Thanks!

Picture Links now fixed.
Very nice! Thanks for the pictures!
