This tablet is the perfect size for a phone.
I hope you're just high and being funny, I would never have this size phone, I think 5.3" is the cut off. For most even that's too big.

Actually, with a Bluetooth headset it'd be doable imo. Would be nice to consolidate my devices a bit.

Once I get my I'm Watch the 7 will go in my bag and the watch on my wrist. Problem Solved. :]
Whenever I switch from the Nexus 7 to my Galaxy Nexus, I always think how did my phone shrink? My phone feels tiny now.
4 inches big enough for phone .
I have tha acer a500 10 inch tablet i hope i do not miss the screen size as much as i hate not fitting my tablet in my Purse.. And as far as phone size for my hands 4 inch is cut off size.. NOTHING BIGGER THEN THAT In For me ..
I feel the same way. My nexus feels like a toy now. I could definitely use this tablet as a phone (via BT).
It was awkward using the tablet for the free 10.00 they give in wallet though.
Wonderful as a speakerphone with Google Voice + Groove IP over WIFI while being able to do other things on it at the same time like booking Google Flights, watching Transformer although it's smart enough to mute the movie sound, etc.
Regarding the size. It makes my 4" Samsung Epic 4G really tiny switching from Nexus 7.
There are pre-existing threads discussing/debating the merits of various sizes of device, if you have anything constructive to add then you should do so in one of them.
And next time, search before posting.

Has anybody figured out a way to draw straight lines on their galaxy tab easily?
I understand inaccurate touch screens are quite common on android, especially compared to apple products.
If a fix was possible, I guess it would have to be embedded in firmware or the os. Any thoughts?

Get a stylus and a ruler? I sure can't draw a straight line on my ipad with my fingers
swyped from a galaxy far far away
Maybe I should try it ;-)
All the lines I draw in drawing programs on my tab come out sort of wobbly. I tried using a demo ipad 2 earlier and the results were much more pleasing.
I suspect some smoothing could be applied to make the whole situation much more sane without losing any significant information.

I've got Sketch Book too. Seems to be the only real choice on Android.
The problem I have is with trying to draw a line slowly and even more so diagonally, which as I wrote before, I don't see on the ipad.
The smoother lines were drawn more quickly.
You can try touch screen booster sgs, play with that and see if it helps, I think the problem is it may be to sensitive

Thanks for the tip. I google for quite a while touch screen settings but nother turned up of use.
I can confirm this.
And personally I dont think there is a fix.

No dice Runs but doesn't make any difference.
Well remember the tab has a higher dpi than the ipad, I think its hard because your finger isn't going perfectly straight, see if a stylus would help and if it does you know its your finger

Tried a stylus before and out was even worse.
I'm using overcome, I'll check with altbridge if it honors ts.conf and see off the tunables there help.

I can't help but feel I am imagining the washed out effect I see on my N7, perhaps I am just too used to the amoled saturation. Thought pictures of my N7 looking like others would help me feel better about it. Feel free to show if yours looks any different! Of course now that I'm looking at the pic I just took it doesn't show much difference, but in person it does.
Both at 75% brightness:

I'm personally happy with the screen on the Nexus7. You can't compare it to a Super AMOLED+ screen though. The latter is much better quality with a higher contrast ratio.
I do notice some light bleeding around the edge, but I can live with that. Watching movies, everything looks great.
No point in other people posting pictures of their Super AMOLED phones vs Nexus 7.
AMOLED = Much more vivid colors.
And yes, the Nexus 7 will look 'washed out'
Why is it that this tablet is the least expensive contender on the market and the screen is NOT better than the highest end most expensive table screen?

LOL. I think he was being sarcastic
As far as screens, your comparing Mercedes quality (tablet) to Bentley quality (samoled gnex).

Yeah. Sorry for the sarcasm. It just bugs me. I love this thing. Everytime I interact with it I am pleasantly surprised.
i have nothing to add to this thread except that the OP's camera sucks.

hah, it is an ipad camera...does suck indeed. I just wanted a little reassurance that it's normal, all good. I'm cool with it, just wanted to make sure I'm in the norm. Have no one around to compare to.
So I found a prettty good car mount that doesn't break the bank like a lot of these others for $25+
It's a suction cup mount found here http://www.ebay.com/itm/150946419800?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
It takes a little while to get it to sit the way you want but once you tighten up everything the tablet sits secure without much movement! Not saying it's the best but for the price it sits pretty still even over those nasty pot holes you may encounter.

Nice find. I've been looking for one of these. What is the total length?
it supports up to a 10" tablet
I had one of those to use with my HTC Evo View 4G 7" tablet and I didn't care for it at all. The View is a bit heavier than the Nexus but I'd guess that it'd have the same limitation. It was fine for a short trip but about 20 minutes or so after I started it'd start to droop then ultimately disconnect when the suction cup failed.

Me too
I have this same mount and I think it is great. It is deep enough that I can keep my N7 in its case, and it still fits and holds fine. This is a very stable mount on the cheap. I tried a different mount before this one,(more expensive too) that was useless. I'm glad I bought this one though.
Pics are broken.
Here's one that I've used with my Nexus 7:

At $25, I don't think it to much to ask for a quality product. You can probably find it cheaper on Amazon.

Is this a new version of the n7? at 0:20 you can see it with a notification led.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=XkpjZ7oA_Qg
Also the guy with the n4 holds it the correct way when you see the back, but when you see his screen, the phone appears to be upside down.
Good eye there, let's see what today's io session brings
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I don't think it's the new Nexus 7 but the actual one with a glowing special effect on the camera to illustrate the notification... If you look good the Nexus 4 in the video is upside down with an incrusted screen, I think it could be the same thing in the Nexus 7 image...
We will see what will happen during the next 2 days, but don't hope so much...
I think that they will announce the new Nexus 7 with the new nexus 10 and 5 in fall.

yes I know it is just upside down, but it is funny how when you first see him holding it, it is the correct orientation. but then when you see him using it, at 0:37 and 0:45, you can see it is exactly the same as the original n4 just upside down.

Nexus 4 doesn't have a flat silver band around the outside. I dunno, we'll see. It's definitely 7" sized.
That's not that I said
I said that they made special effect on the Nexus 7 camera to imitate the LED notification. The N4 comparison in my post was just to illustrate the fact that Google incrusted the screen in the N4 so they can do the same with the N7 "LED"
I'm sorry if you don't understand I'm french :s
I mean the Galaxy Mega had a 6.3 inch screen, and the Xperia Z Ultra had a 6.4 inch screen! They should've made it atleast 6.5 inches, I mean come on, we are in 2015 now Motorola -_-
Really did you just create this pointless thread
I can't handle anything black over 6"
Why stop at 6.5", what are you some sort of filthy casual?

if I could +1 that comment, I would :highfive:
As much as I love phablets and would probably be ok with a super slim (almost no bezel) 7 inch phone. I think jumping to 6 when the majority of previous nexus users(at least what I see on XDA) seem to complain about the size. I remember when I had the Nexus s briefly in 2013 people, there were people saying they wouldn't even upgrade to a gnex because it was "too big" I am almost positive Google wanted a big phone to push more smart watches. Or at least that was at least a factor.
I think from a business standpoint making a 5.5 inch phone similar size to G3 would acclimate nexus users to a slightly bigger screen.
That being said having a shamu size phone was a big selling point for me
I was a bit put off by the size at first. But after using it for 2 weeks, other phones feel tiny. When I hold my wife's Nexus 5, I'm amazed at how I ever used a phone that "small". Then I held a friends iPhone 4 - What is that?? A phone for ants??
I think this size is big enough for me. Any larger and I can't comfortably put it in my back jeans pocket.
