How many times do you wash your hands - Off-topic

I'm drunk. The suggested 'similar' threads aren't preventing me from posting this, so, just curious;
How many times do you wash your hands a day? Not an exact number, just a 'guess.'
I'm saying at least 30 - 40 times. I wash my hands after every single smoke (at least 20), meal, preparation of a meal - before and after, obviously, bathroom visit etc, regular chores including laundry, being in public places, before a meal and after regardless of preparation etc etc. All places in between. The smoking is the thing. I can't stand the smell, yet I do it, so I wash. I was like a madman. Thing is, I know others don't ... like that guy packing that 'spoon' who you KNOW hasn't done as much in hours ... scary ...

Weird question? I think not. This is more important than chips or whips. C'mon. Be real.

maybe two or three times ...
kidding. maybe 2o but that seems like a lot
bathroom
after meals
occasional cigarette
random point here or there, i might actually say under 20
i have germs

Maybe about 30 times a day.

Maybe 15

About 30 i'd say. I always use the damp paper hand towels to wipe my head and face over with too before binning them. I hate feeling dirty
The amount of stuffed shirts i see at work each day exiting the toilets without washing their hands disgusts me.

Wow and I thought I wash my hands too much
Basically:
Before meal or preparing meal
After bathroom
After waking up
After returning home
...

More than I can count. I have hand sanitizer with me as well wherever I go most of the times when I can't stand some public washroom places.
Washroom breaks.
Before/after meals or before/after handling food
Public places
After/before doing the dishes
Chores
Laundry
The list goes on.

I also carry hand sanitizer.
I get up and the first thing I do even before saying good morning to Sparky is to wash my face, hands and brush my teeth (I have my coffee before I shower)
After visiting the ladies room
Before preparing meals
After eating
After I smoke
Before handling or feeding my birds
After handling or feeding my birds
After cleaning (actually I shower)
Upon returning home from being out (actually another shower)
So....I wash, my hands 30-40 times a day and shower 3-4 times a day...
Wow. I have OCD.
You did not just read this....

Hah I've had people say I have some germ phobia but I don't think so. And everytime I put some purell or whatever on, Sanitizer, I have to wash my hands because I think it smells weird. Well, I don't HAVE to. I CHOOSE to do as much. I think. :/

Whoa, shocked to see such a thread returned when I was about to start as much ...
Yes, a lot.
lol
I should think about 25-3something a day!!!1!
Can never have clean enough hands! So long as you have reason to wash the hands enough I don't see why it would be considered 'phobic.' So long as you aren't compulsive and OC about it ....

While at work I wash them around 20 times. Rest of the day around 5-10 times more or less. depends what I do

Did You Just LICK That?! (or – Why It is a Waste of $ to Buy Hand Sanitizer)

I’m a self-proclaimed helicopter mom. It’s what I do. I hover and worry and spritz myself, my child, and anyone who happens to be standing near with non-alcohol based hand sanitizer. It’s my little attempt to balance the ‘my-kid-goes-to-daycare-and-is-therefore-exposed-to-every-germ-on-the-planet-and-is-sick-too-frequently-for-comfort’ syndrome I’m currently suffering from.
However, I realized ALL of my efforts are for naught the other day as Pineapple and I were ‘cleaning’ up the closet.
It went something like this:
Me: Oh Pineapple are you helping mommy clean the closet?! You’re such a good, sweet, smart baby!
Pineapple: A-yeah! (she’s says ‘yeah’ a lot)
Me: Are you going to help mommy pick up daddy’s shoes? Bad old daddy left them all over the place again! No, no, no daddy! <waggling finger>
Pineapple: N-n-n da-da! <waving hand madly around>
Me: OK, I’m just going to finish putting these shirts in this drawer – you start putting those shoes in that basket, OK?
Pineapple: A-yeah.
<I turn my back and begin putting clean laundry in the drawers as I listen to Pineapple diligently place DH’s shoes in the basket. Turning around to admire her handiwork, I see something disturbing…..>
Me: PINEAPPLE!!! Did you just LICK the bottom of that SHOE?!
Pineapple: A-yeah. <Pineapple nods her head and selects a flip flop from the floor. I then watch in horror as she examines the bottom, sticks out her tiny pink tongue and gives it a good lick.>
Me: OH NO! STOP LICKING DADDY’S NASTY SHOE BOTTOMS RIGHT NOW!!!
Pineapple: A-yeah. <As she licks the bottom of a tennis shoe.>
Me: ACK!!!!
So, as you can see…all of that money on hand sanitizer. All of that worry over her health and well-being completely undone by the innocent act of straightening up the closet. I tell you now – it’s a futile effort. At this point, I’m just waiting for her to lick the rails on the street car or eat gum from under the table because, let’s face it folks, it can’t get any worse…..right? No, I don’t want to hear your toilet story, thankyouverymuch.

Non-alcohol based Hand Sanitizer does not work. Over using Alcohol Based hand sanitizer is bad since if you look at the lable it kills 99.9% of bacetria. The .1% of bacteria that is immune to the hand sanitizer becomes stronger imune against it multiplying on your hands which leads to it being 99.9% of bacteria on your hands making hand sanitizer useless.
But it does feel good when you rub your hands with it
Don't be upset: I have 2 kids, 5 and 10yo, and both, in some point in their lifes, also get some oral fixation in shoes soles... and they both outgrowned that fixation, so there's hope for your Pineapple.
My little girl (18mo) does similar things, almost as if it is "haha, look what I did, what are you going to do about it!" I remember her licking my shoes before - not the sole, but the upper leather on my work shoes) - fortunately I guess she didn't like the taste much as hasn't done it since.
When we had our 4d scan, we actually saw he poke her tongue out and lick her umbilical cord, repeatedly. Funny girl, we didn't have a chance from the start!
All this talk of shoes reminded me something. Before my kid could cwrall he spent half an hour dragging himself accross the room to get to my slipper...so he could barf in it. The missus tells me it was the smell that made him sick, but I saw that look in his eye. He planned the whole thing.
Its ok, It helps build up their immune system. Som health professionals are saying some places are too sanitised. Apparently its better to let them pick up minor viruses and bacteria so they will gain natural immunity to some of the more serious diseases.

Rioting

We have a wee bit of rioting in Belfast this evening. There's a parade on somewhere or other. Got me thinking about rioting in general. We get a lot of it here. LAst summer was particularly bad with a lot of rioting around the city and around NI in general. this is a video from last year at Ardoyne. It doesn't kick of right away but it gets a bit out of hand. This one is quite tame. Afterwards a policewoman was seriously inured when a rioter through some concrete on her.
Belfast and Vancouver may be on different continents but they have the perennial riots in common. It's only 0.1% of each population though, while the rest look on thinking 'what a bunch of asshats'
It'll all change given, oh i don't know....300 years? Shame we won't be around to enjoy the peace!

good heavens! ur from belfast as well! the riots last summer was madness. thank god most of it was around Derry and North Belfast! just when you think people are matured enough to put the past behind them and move on! no wonder most of NI is a dump...lol
i was however stuck in the middle of the riots last year (if i remember right) along the lower windsor avenue when the polish supporters clashed with the local ones. 'twas a bloody affair i tell you. i actually pity the coppers in NI. poor guys are hated by both sides and have been putting up with sectarian s**t for too many decades now
If citizens were allowed to carry firearms it would pretty much stop the rioting. People are less inclined to do something that may get them killed....

rioting is one thing but the assassination in the antrim base, the cold blooded murder of the police officer in craigavon and the recent ones as well have taken things just a bit too far. what do they hope to achieve. yes i do know they are fighting for a cause, but blood baths isnt the answer.
It has really kicked off the last two nights with up to 500 on Monday night rioting and 700 last night. A photographer was shot in the leg last night, you can read the article here.
Shots have been fired by both sides of the community and there is very little the police can do without being heavy handed. This is putting such a negative slant on Northern Ireland which is a fantastic little country.
Let's face it, humans don't need a reason to be violent. They just need an excuse.

Should there be a maximum age for driving?

Maybe require them to take an annual driver-certification test of some kind after a certain age?
See http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lan...hits-9-children-while-backing-up-his-car.html
Yes, definitely. Here (in norway) people that are 70+ years old must have a "medical certificate" from their doctor, and they have to see their doctor once a year. If their doctor says that they're not fit to drive then that'll be it. Doesn't eliminate the dangers, but it's a start.
Look up driving and accident statistics anywhere in the state of Florida and you'll have a definitive answer. There is something truly frightening about seeing a 90 year old person behind the wheel of a Suburban or Excursion. Especially when they are so hunched over from arthritis that their only line of sight is looking under the steering wheel and over the dash. We called them Q-Tip drivers, since the only thing you could see was a puff of white hair. If you've seen Ferris Bueller you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

I think drivers should have to retake the entire driving test every time or two they renew their license. That way it doesn't discriminate any group of people, and will eliminate everyone who doesn't know how to drive, not just the older people.

How about a mandatory retake of drivers ed courses for people who get in more than two accidents in five years?
It sounds good in principle, but I have literally seen DMV employees guiding elderly people through the vision test. I think people here regard driving as a right, not as a privilege and responsibility.

+1. Then, there are the cases of old people driving their cars through buildings (they mistake the accelerator for the brake, in a parking lot, when they start their car). I guess when people get old, everything looks the same.

Yes I live in Florida as well. I lost my driver side mirror because some old ass guy decided he didn't like the lane he was in. To bad I was right next to him and he just starts moving over. Luckily I quick enough to act and he only took out my mirror. I see waaay to many old fools that should not be driving.

This is what I thought of when I saw this thread.
I dont think there should be no questions asked cut off age, not everybody ages equally. But for sure tests should be administered after a certain age, if you cant pass the test you shouldn't drive..
I think having to get a doctor's release to drive after a certain age makes the most sense. It's not about age, really, but the mental and physical competency that degrades with age.
Maybe not a max age but they def need to get better at screening with age. I mean, WTF, they are so mean there to everyone at the DMV so why are they being " nice" and letting our old folks get renewed when they shouldn't lol
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 4G using Tapatalk
Definitely should be or least re-test after a certain age
Every summer, Southern California sees a temporary influx of old retirees from Arizona. They drive at very slow speeds on the fast lane of our freeways. We just love them for that :^)

Oh god yes. Please. Senior drives are as dangerous as, if not more so than, junior drivers.
Going 50 and overtaking!!! on the bloody Autobahn, are you f*cking kidding me... Or just randomly slamming on the breaks in the middle of a corner. Or crossing the intersection without even so much as noticing all the oncoming traffic!
67. (pension-age) After that, every 5 years a re-exam. If you fail, get used to taking a cab.
I think so...
Seen this discussion on a lot of car forums.
I'm a bit neutral as far as opinion.
Some drivers are inherently incapable all thru their driving years then some are careful responsible till the end.
Now that I'm closing in on 60 I'm way more intolerant of others.
In the past I was a very angry aggressive driver...I never got anywhere faster than anybody else.
Haven't really slowed down, I just do my best to be safe and sane with constant self checks when driving.

Chilli burn

Don't know if this is normal, but i get the usual mouth burn, stomach burn and arse burn from eating chilli, but recently i've been getting knob-end burn
I thought it was because i didn't wash my hands after eating and then went to the toilet, but today i made damn sure i washed them twice before taking a leak, still got knob-end burn.
Anyone else get this after eating insanely hot food? By insanely hot i mean using 5 million SHU extract in a curry, about a teaspoon of it.
I cook with habanero peppers frequently. When dicing them, I've learned that even when I think my hands are washed, they might not be. Could be under your finger nails. Considering what you're eating sobs significantly hotter, out could be the problem.
From eating hot stuff, I've never heard of the spice carrying through your urinary tract.
-Accidental Asshole
It happens occasionally with spicy food.
Try thoroughly scrubbing your hands with a used teabag, then washing it. It's still on your skin.
Your bladder filters out the spice.
Knob end burn? :what: Burning when you pee can be caused by other things...

I assume you have medical proof to back up that rediculious claim? I've never heard of a case of someone going blind from eating spicy food. It just doesn't happen unless they rubbed the peppers on their eyeballs.
Until you return with proof to this claim it is the decision of this court that you sir are a f'ing liar.

I got a part of a pepper in my eye once. It burned really bad and my eyeball felt like it was melting, but after 10 minutes of that, I finally found some water and it pretty much stopped all the burning. My eye was red all day, but I never went blind.
Did you know that everything that you eat ends up in your sperm? Well, just a veeery little bit. Maybe this is the reason of burning?

Not being a doctor, I can't give proof, that is what my friend said. I am repeating his story. His doctor told him if he didn't stop eating hot things he would continue losing his vision. He eventually went blind. Don't believe it. Doesn't bother me.......but I still can't explain it.
I will add, that I didn't say that people go blind from eating spicy food. I said my friend did. Or so he told me. Maybe he had another condition that was also a factor. Don't see how that makes me a liar....

Because of their size to the untrained eye a train appears to be going slower than it actually is. 8 or 9 out of 10 make this deadly error. You gauge a train's speed by stationary objects around it's path of travel. Telegraph poles or electric poles are convenient reference points. Error on the side of caution. Beware of the 2 or more trains at once on different tracks, the one you can't see can still kill you.
Don't trip on the tracks, ties or gravel holes as this can be a deadly mistake even with no train. The rails will break bones if you fall on them... always assume a train is coming. I've walked many miles on active lines starting at 6yo, still here.
