[Q] new S-OFF trying install ]Android Revolution HD - HTC Incredible S

Hi Guys,
1 - I got my Incredible S (IS) successfully S-OFF using the beta of AlphaRev X today.
2 - I install clockwork e rooting following this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14693680.
Now i would like to install Android revolution HD.
I need flash recovery again? I saw that is ENF S-OFF is requered?
I have this with AlphaRev X S-OFF?
thanks.

Hi there ... you are half way there
if u want to use ARHD ... it is better u use the latest recovery from this thread ... it has full ext4 support required by ARHD ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1104765
After you install that ... you are good to go .... just download the .zip of the ARHD rom and flash it through recovery ... also ENG hboot is not required as such ... but you need advanced fastboot which is already available in the alpharevx hboot ....
So all you need is the new recovery i mentioned

knightrocker, in bootloader it says ship s-off, does this mean that radio is s-off aswell? i've used alpharevx like above and am at the same stage as drroot.

I'm running Android revolution with no dramas, took me a few goes to get it (being a newbie to all this)

Hi guys,
Thank you for help, but another question...
You flash Radio_20.2804.30.085AU_3805.04.03.22_M before ext4recovery and ROM?
thanks.

No ... for radio s-off u need the xtc clip ... like me ... BUT ur alpharevx soff can do everything an eng hboot can do ... so not much of a difference really ... only thing is you will lose soff if u run a RUU ...
@drr00t: bro ... u can install it anytime really ... it dosent make a difference ...but if u havent flashed the rom yet ... then flash the radio first ... also ... 4ext MUST come before the rom or you will boot loop ...

So I can follow these instructions to flash Mike's recommend radio?
--=[ How to flash a radio ]=--
This guide is for Windows users only! Your phone must be ENG S-OFF. Radio S-OFF is also highly recommended.
Requirements:
- HTC Sync
- A Windows PC
1. Connect your phone into a PC, and make sure that USB Debugging is enabled
2. Click "Start here". A black command prompt window will open
3. Type: "adb reboot bootloader"
4. Once your phone is in bootloader (white screen with text), type "fastboot flash radio radio.img"
5. When the flashing completes, type "fastboot reboot"
6. Done. Enjoy!

Thanks

Yes that's how I flashed a newer radio. Still hasn't fixed my problem with delayed SMS and dropping network though.

The sms thing happens to some carriers on some radios ... the combinations are varied ... use an app called sms timefix from the market ... that will get you back
As for the signal drop ... report in the respective rom thread ... the dev of the rom will help

i believe you can flash it before or after, they are totally separate entities. but if the ROM and radio are a match to prevent issues.

I flashed the new radio AFTER installing the ROM - not sure if it makes a difference doing it either way, but seems logical to me to flash after a ROM.

Wouldn't that app just correct the timestamp to show the current time, rather than actually recieving the SMS when it was supposed to be received, ie 10 minutes ago?

Android Revolution HD running 100%
Hi guys,
I install, recovery ext4 1.0.6 mod, radio, run ext4 script and finale install revolution, all works perfectly, thank you for your help.
Rom is running 100% perfectly.

Hi,
I have s-off and clockworkmod installed on IS (bell). Android version 2.2.1, baseband version 20.23.30.0802U_38.02.01.17_M, software number 1.37.666.3. Now what I would like to know is what are my next steps for installing ext4 1.0.6 mod, and a radio and Revolution HD. I read that the radio I install should match my version, is this correct? Or do I use Radio_20.2804.30.085AU_3805.04.03.22_M? If not where can I find my version. Also should I stay on froyo or upgrade to gingerbread?
Any help is greatly appreciated....

If you have S-Off your next step is to install a custom recovery to flash custom Roms. Since you want to install Android Revolution, you need to install the Ext4 recovery. Here are the steps you need:
You need:
HTC Incredible S S-OFF
ClockworkMod Recovery with EXT4 support from here
How to flash:
Don't use ROM Manager! Flash ROM following the steps below:
Download ROM and place it on your SD card
Download "Super Wipe" script & place it on your SD card (optionally if coming from earlier version of my ROM, obligatory if coming from stock or other custom ROM)
Boot your phone in recovery mode (vol down + power)
In main menu, select "install zip from sdcard"
Select "choose zip from sdcard" and browse to the location of "Super Wipe" script
Once again select "choose zip from sdcard" and browse to the location of Android Revolution ROM
After flashing process is complete, reboot the device

Just to share, I went through this process yesterday, all the way from soff using revolution up to flashing the ARHD Rom with the sense all in one pack. Followed the instructions to the t and didn't have any hickups

Hi, I have done all these steps,
I've unlocked the bootloader by using the HTCDev.com site, and installed '4EXT Recovery'. My 'HBOOT' says unlocked on the first line, and I even managed to flash 'SuperUser'. Now after flashing '4EXT Recovery', formatting everything bar my SD-Card to Ext4 using the recovery, flashing super wipe and the Revolution HD ROM I am now stuck at a Blank boot screen showing nothing but the HTC letters and not even the other line "Silently Bricked" or whatever it used to say
Have I done something terribly wrong, or is there a way to fix this??? I really need help with this :S btw my hboot is 2.00.0000, but like I said. It's said it was unlocked and I previously managed to flash clockworkmod recovery and 'SU'.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks.
[EDIT]
Found a solution on another thread
Basically i needed to flash the ROM's boot image over USB using fastboot.
You can find a bit more detail in this thread

[Q] flashing custom recovery - frustrated!

Hi,
Upgraded to 2.3.3 and lost root.
Bored of mucking about with oneclick etc, I unlocked the bootloader. Easy(ish), cool!
Trying to flash amon ra with fastboot, everything goes well (appears as though it's flashed). But when I re-boot, it isn't there!
Padlock showing - so bootloader unlocked.
Nexus drivers installed, device showing with "fastboot devices".
Trying to flash amon ra 2.2.1.
Any suggestions?
Ta!
Andy
When you boot a stock rom it wipes custom recoverys and puts the stock one back.
Use the search feature on the forum.

Thanks for your reply.
I've spent (literally) all day searching the forum (I'm in the uk - so hours and hours). There's so much, and some of it contradictory.
Ok, so I can't put a rom on without a custom recovery, but I can't put a custom recovery on because the stock rom wipes it?
I don't actually want a custom rom, simply a rooted stock phone. Which I have had previously.
Cheers! (driven to booze!)

Yes, that's what I've been doing. There's a mistake in that part of the faq:
Faq states at the end "reboot recovery"
Should be "reboot-bootloader"
That works, but as soon as I then reboot into 2.3.3 - it wipes the custom recovery (which is why I'm in the q + a).
The other problem I'm having is that my phone doesn't appear rooted from within the o/s (apps that require root don't work), but the padlock is there ans the bootloader is unlocked. I can install su and busybox installer from the market, but neither work.
Back to the beer!
Andy
I can't explain all in detail while on my phone.
Do this. Grab a preroooted stock rom from the dev section and put it on SD card.
Boot into fastboot and flash the custom recovery.
Then load up that recovery without booting up the os.
Flash the rom you downloaded.
There are other ways to fix your issue but this is probably the simplest for you.

Thanks, that makes sense - and I agree with your statement above (simplest for me)!
I had (mistakenly) thought that unlocking the bootloader, then installing busybox and su from the market gave me a rooted phone.
I'll give it a go, when my wife regains her patience ;-)

Guide fixed. I've uploaded and linked the file that removes the stock recovery restoring files from the stock ROM.
You can repeat the guide and include the new part - it should prevent stock recovery from being restored on reboot.
Please try and write your feedback.
cheers! i've done what was suggested tho', and its worked a treat.

[Q] I got S-OFF On Incredible S, but I still need help!

Hi Guys, I got my Incredible S (IS) successfully S-OFF using the beta of AlphaRev X.
I made the donation because the work the AlphaRev X have done is great
I used the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122694 to install the clockworkmod and recovery, and it was completely successful. What I did is I obtain the right Clockworkmod Recovery for my IS I have now the ClockworkMod Recovery v4.0.0.1 on my Incredible S.
New the two problem I am facing is:
1- When I flash a language package (so that I will be able to read Arabic using the same original ROM which comes with the device) , the installing gets aborted and unsuccessful. Although, I used the same language packaged which I used it for my old Desire HD and now both are Froyo .
The message I gets on Recovery page is :
-- Installing : /sdcard/Arabic_DHD_2.2.1 _FIX_Browser_RTL. Zip
Finding update package…
Opening update package…
Installing update …
Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported.
Amend scripting was deprecated by Google in Android 1.5.
It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the clockworkMod 3.0 Ginger bread based recovery. Please switch to Edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working update Zip Package .
Installation aborted
Well, I don’t know that all mean and I don’t know how I would fix this. It seems so complicated
Please would any Developer out there help!
2- I tried to flash a custom ROM by LeeDrOiD_HD_V 2.2.3, but also didn’t work. The message I gets is:
-- Installing : /sdcard/LeeDrOiD_HD_V2.2.3. Zip
Finding update package…
Opening update package…
Installing update …
Checking Model ID
Assert failed: getprop(“ro. product .device”) ==”

getprop(“ro.product.board”) ==”ace”
E:Error in /sdcard/ LeeDrOiD_HD_V2.2.3. Zip
(Status 7)
Installation aboard.
Please would anyone of developer help me in getting this issue fixed. I really would appreciate it the effort and the reply. All I care about is the a ROM ( cocked or custom ROM) which can read Arabic and not losing the S-OFF I have got from AlphaRev X. thank you for your time and you support! I tried to post my question through the XDA Incredible S developer sub-forums link, but it refused. Please would anyone help me! Thanks for reading my email.

I believe I got it already rooted and installed recovery for the IS from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122694 (Root and Recovery) but still working on the flashing Arabic thing. would you please tell me how I would check whether I have already permanent root in my device or not? Because it seems I do have but I need to check to make sure I did. For root thing I followed the instruction in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122694 (Root and Recovery) and Installed the “su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip” file and it was successful.

Right. Also recovery too. Don't try it unless neccesary. It requires great effort to get the things back to position.
If you read carefully it says that it cannot flash because you are trying to flash desire hd roms... go over to the inc s dev section and pick one there.
Desire HD roms will not work on the incs.
However you can try and edit the update script that it reads vivo instead of ace.
Im not responsible for failure hh

[Q] how to use blackrose hboot?

hi guys.my phone is : Unlock - Downgrade - Recovery - Root - S-Off.
So, now the HBOOT version of my Incredible S is 6.13.1002 (Revolutionary) from Revolutionary.io .
ive heard that the Black Rose HBOOT is better than Revolutionary.
So, ive decided to use BlckRose for my phone.
i read in a forum that it says that :
when you want to use BlackRose HBOOT, you should do these :
1.you should have Revolutionary HBOOT in your phone.
2.you should install HTC Sync.
3.you should turn on USB debugging.
4.you should connect to your PC by USB cable.
5.Run the BlackRose software.
so, i did it ! but just while blackrose was running , it was saying : Permission denied
i even have done it by terminal app in my phone.
you know i have just copied a file named (hboot_blackrose) from the boat folder in blackrose folder and pasted it to my phone's memory card and then installed the Terminal app and opened it and then wrote these words :
PHP:
su
busybox md5sum /sdcard/hboot_blackrose.img
dd if=/sdcard/hboot_blackrose.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
reboot Bootloader
but in this way that i tried , ive got the same answer : Permission denied !

Although you have Revolutionary S-OFF installed, you apparently do not have a custom rooted ROM installed such as ARHD or CM7/9, etc. That is the reason why the blackrose script is unable to gain SU permission.

I tried a zillion things and got a bunch of different errors, but I won in the end.
I followed this guide and still got a permission denied error until it finally dawned on me I needed to right-click BlackRose_IS.exe and run as administrator... duh.
...But the whole point of it was so I can change my boot logo; now that I go looking for a way to do that, I'm drawing a blank.
Anyone know where to point me?
EDIT: found it.
Here's my version of those directions:
1. Prepare 480*800 bmp file to change
2. nbimg.exe -F [BMP FILE] -n
3. Rename *.nb file to splash1.img
4. With phone in fastboot usb mode, in adb/fastboot directory type 'fastboot flash splash1 splash1.img'

I am having difficulty myself finding a rom that actually works with this phone. So far, I have had to settle with Untouched ROM, and I have flashed an overclocked RAM kernel. Had some force closes for a while, but grabbed a tweaker and lowered the RAM speed, so I'm good now. My advice is to stick with what is stable first, and then add apks and tweaks and other customizations to bring it to where you would like it.
First, can you state your recovery, is it stock or custom (like ClockworkMod).
This Explos!on ROM... are you sure this is compatible with the Desire C?
I would suggest Nameless Rom [LINK] but since you hate Sense so much :crying: I would consider CyanogenMod [Link], google it for more info.
I would flash CWM if you don't have it yet if I were you, g'luck mate :good:

It does not matter if you use nameless rom and hate sense, you can remove sense using nikhils customiser
There is no cyanogenmod for our phone yet
you dont seem to really get ROMing, Majellico, explosion rom was built for desire c and works with no other phone
because every rom has to be built for a phone specifically.
Now for flashing explosion (though i recommend nameless)
First, you do a full system wipe in the recovery
then you delete cache and dalvik cache
choose "apply zip from sdcard"
choose the rom .zip-file
it should now flash.
now for flashing the boot.img,
boot into bootloader, choose fastboot and connect your usb cable
go to the folder where you have extracted boot.img of your choice (you will have to see if the 767OC or 806OC work, if it doesnt just repeat these steps with the other bootimg.)
hold shift and right-click, choose "open commandprompt here" or something like that (my pc is configured in dutch i dont know what that options called in english)
type: "fastboot flash boot boot.img", without the quotation marks
now reboot your phone

Sorry for the misunderstanding for the Explosion ROM, I heard of it only in this forum and am researching it. There is actually a CyanogenMod for the Desire C (just very buggy, no WiFi so useless), thank you for that other information as well.

May I ask where you got you're version of CWM?
Yeah i know about the cyanogenmod, just thought talking about that would cause our penguin friend to flash it and then start a thread : why isn't WiFi working?
I got cwm using the all in one rootkit by hasoon2000

Seems legit, you are an experienced modder and don't know how to install a 3rd party launcher?
Cheers

Why are you posting? The problem is resolved and the thread is "Closed".
Clearly not. Apparently, OGM was firing blanks on this one.
sorry

[Q] I need help unrooting my HTC one!

So earlier this year I decided to root my HTC one so I could get stock android. I changed it back to sense around a month after but my phone is still rooted and I'd like to unroot it. I've tried around 3/4 times to unroot my phone but I literally got nowhere and gave up each time, but now I thought I'd stick at it and try this time to finally unroot my phone, and I'd really appreciate any help I can get.
This was my first time rooting a phone and I still don't fully understand many of the terms, so if you could please explain each step as simply as you can that would be awesome. Anyway the information I've gathered about my phone so far is that it's version is 2.24.401.8 its S-On, HBOOT 1.54 and Radio 4A.17.3250.14. I think that's all the useful information but if there's anything else you need let me know. Ideally, I would like my phone to return to like it was when I first opened it (enough to be able to use under warranty) however if that's not possible, or if it's hard to do, I'd be happy with it just having the latest version of sense and android and for it to be able to receive OTA updates.

Do a factory reset then flash this Rom with your custom recovery. http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_2-24-401-8-zip/
In the Aroma installer options choose
Stock recovery = Yes
Stock radio = Yes
Root = No
Once it's installed reboot and take ota updates :good:

Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply
I just tried this and downloaded the OTA update for the latest version of sense and android but when I installed it my phone just restarted and nothing was updated.
Am I flashing the ROM right? I'm a bit rusty on how to do it, I have clockwork mod I believe so could you please give me a step by step on how to do it?
Again, thanks for the help

Download and install TWRP 2.6.3.3
In bootloader/FASTBOOT USB:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Boot into Recovery
Select Install from sdcard
Select Guru Reset M7 2.24.401.8
Follow Danny201281's instructions after the Reset flashes:
In the Aroma installer options choose
* * Stock recovery = Yes
* * Stock radio = Yes
* * Root = No
Now you should have stock recovery & stock rom on your phone.

You can't jump strait to the latest update you need to install all the updates sequentially.
To flash the reset Rom put the zip on your internal storage. Boot to clockwork mod and do a Factory reset. Then choose Install zip from sd card. Choose the guru rest Rom. When the install starts you'll be taken into the Aroma installer choose the options as outlined in my previous post.
When the Rom is installed reboot the phone. Go to Settings>About and select "Check for Updates" you should get a notification for a "System Update" Allow the update to download and you will be prompted to install it. Select Install now. The phone will reboot to Stock recovery and install the OTA. When it's done reboot and check for the next OTA update
