[Q] I need help unrooting my HTC one! - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So earlier this year I decided to root my HTC one so I could get stock android. I changed it back to sense around a month after but my phone is still rooted and I'd like to unroot it. I've tried around 3/4 times to unroot my phone but I literally got nowhere and gave up each time, but now I thought I'd stick at it and try this time to finally unroot my phone, and I'd really appreciate any help I can get.
This was my first time rooting a phone and I still don't fully understand many of the terms, so if you could please explain each step as simply as you can that would be awesome. Anyway the information I've gathered about my phone so far is that it's version is 2.24.401.8 its S-On, HBOOT 1.54 and Radio 4A.17.3250.14. I think that's all the useful information but if there's anything else you need let me know. Ideally, I would like my phone to return to like it was when I first opened it (enough to be able to use under warranty) however if that's not possible, or if it's hard to do, I'd be happy with it just having the latest version of sense and android and for it to be able to receive OTA updates.

Do a factory reset then flash this Rom with your custom recovery. http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_2-24-401-8-zip/
In the Aroma installer options choose
Stock recovery = Yes
Stock radio = Yes
Root = No
Once it's installed reboot and take ota updates :good:

Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply
I just tried this and downloaded the OTA update for the latest version of sense and android but when I installed it my phone just restarted and nothing was updated.
Am I flashing the ROM right? I'm a bit rusty on how to do it, I have clockwork mod I believe so could you please give me a step by step on how to do it?
Again, thanks for the help

Download and install TWRP 2.6.3.3
In bootloader/FASTBOOT USB:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Boot into Recovery
Select Install from sdcard
Select Guru Reset M7 2.24.401.8
Follow Danny201281's instructions after the Reset flashes:
In the Aroma installer options choose
* * Stock recovery = Yes
* * Stock radio = Yes
* * Root = No
Now you should have stock recovery & stock rom on your phone.

You can't jump strait to the latest update you need to install all the updates sequentially.
To flash the reset Rom put the zip on your internal storage. Boot to clockwork mod and do a Factory reset. Then choose Install zip from sd card. Choose the guru rest Rom. When the install starts you'll be taken into the Aroma installer choose the options as outlined in my previous post.
When the Rom is installed reboot the phone. Go to Settings>About and select "Check for Updates" you should get a notification for a "System Update" Allow the update to download and you will be prompted to install it. Select Install now. The phone will reboot to Stock recovery and install the OTA. When it's done reboot and check for the next OTA update

[Q] new S-OFF trying install ]Android Revolution HD

Hi Guys,
1 - I got my Incredible S (IS) successfully S-OFF using the beta of AlphaRev X today.
2 - I install clockwork e rooting following this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14693680.
Now i would like to install Android revolution HD.
I need flash recovery again? I saw that is ENF S-OFF is requered?
I have this with AlphaRev X S-OFF?
thanks.
Hi there ... you are half way there
if u want to use ARHD ... it is better u use the latest recovery from this thread ... it has full ext4 support required by ARHD ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1104765
After you install that ... you are good to go .... just download the .zip of the ARHD rom and flash it through recovery ... also ENG hboot is not required as such ... but you need advanced fastboot which is already available in the alpharevx hboot ....
So all you need is the new recovery i mentioned

knightrocker, in bootloader it says ship s-off, does this mean that radio is s-off aswell? i've used alpharevx like above and am at the same stage as drroot.
I'm running Android revolution with no dramas, took me a few goes to get it (being a newbie to all this)

Thank you for help, but another question...
You flash Radio_20.2804.30.085AU_3805.04.03.22_M before ext4recovery and ROM?
thanks.

No ... for radio s-off u need the xtc clip ... like me ... BUT ur alpharevx soff can do everything an eng hboot can do ... so not much of a difference really ... only thing is you will lose soff if u run a RUU ...
@drr00t: bro ... u can install it anytime really ... it dosent make a difference ...but if u havent flashed the rom yet ... then flash the radio first ... also ... 4ext MUST come before the rom or you will boot loop ...

So I can follow these instructions to flash Mike's recommend radio?
--=[ How to flash a radio ]=--
This guide is for Windows users only! Your phone must be ENG S-OFF. Radio S-OFF is also highly recommended.
Requirements:
- HTC Sync
- A Windows PC
1. Connect your phone into a PC, and make sure that USB Debugging is enabled
2. Click "Start here". A black command prompt window will open
3. Type: "adb reboot bootloader"
4. Once your phone is in bootloader (white screen with text), type "fastboot flash radio radio.img"
5. When the flashing completes, type "fastboot reboot"
6. Done. Enjoy!

Yes that's how I flashed a newer radio. Still hasn't fixed my problem with delayed SMS and dropping network though.

The sms thing happens to some carriers on some radios ... the combinations are varied ... use an app called sms timefix from the market ... that will get you back
As for the signal drop ... report in the respective rom thread ... the dev of the rom will help

i believe you can flash it before or after, they are totally separate entities. but if the ROM and radio are a match to prevent issues.

I flashed the new radio AFTER installing the ROM - not sure if it makes a difference doing it either way, but seems logical to me to flash after a ROM.

Wouldn't that app just correct the timestamp to show the current time, rather than actually recieving the SMS when it was supposed to be received, ie 10 minutes ago?

Android Revolution HD running 100%
Hi guys,
I install, recovery ext4 1.0.6 mod, radio, run ext4 script and finale install revolution, all works perfectly, thank you for your help.
Rom is running 100% perfectly.
Hi,
I have s-off and clockworkmod installed on IS (bell). Android version 2.2.1, baseband version 20.23.30.0802U_38.02.01.17_M, software number 1.37.666.3. Now what I would like to know is what are my next steps for installing ext4 1.0.6 mod, and a radio and Revolution HD. I read that the radio I install should match my version, is this correct? Or do I use Radio_20.2804.30.085AU_3805.04.03.22_M? If not where can I find my version. Also should I stay on froyo or upgrade to gingerbread?
Any help is greatly appreciated....

If you have S-Off your next step is to install a custom recovery to flash custom Roms. Since you want to install Android Revolution, you need to install the Ext4 recovery. Here are the steps you need:
You need:
HTC Incredible S S-OFF
ClockworkMod Recovery with EXT4 support from here
How to flash:
Don't use ROM Manager! Flash ROM following the steps below:
Download ROM and place it on your SD card
Download "Super Wipe" script & place it on your SD card (optionally if coming from earlier version of my ROM, obligatory if coming from stock or other custom ROM)
Boot your phone in recovery mode (vol down + power)
In main menu, select "install zip from sdcard"
Select "choose zip from sdcard" and browse to the location of "Super Wipe" script
Once again select "choose zip from sdcard" and browse to the location of Android Revolution ROM
After flashing process is complete, reboot the device
Just to share, I went through this process yesterday, all the way from soff using revolution up to flashing the ARHD Rom with the sense all in one pack. Followed the instructions to the t and didn't have any hickups

Hi, I have done all these steps,
I've unlocked the bootloader by using the HTCDev.com site, and installed '4EXT Recovery'. My 'HBOOT' says unlocked on the first line, and I even managed to flash 'SuperUser'. Now after flashing '4EXT Recovery', formatting everything bar my SD-Card to Ext4 using the recovery, flashing super wipe and the Revolution HD ROM I am now stuck at a Blank boot screen showing nothing but the HTC letters and not even the other line "Silently Bricked" or whatever it used to say
Have I done something terribly wrong, or is there a way to fix this??? I really need help with this :S btw my hboot is 2.00.0000, but like I said. It's said it was unlocked and I previously managed to flash clockworkmod recovery and 'SU'.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks.
[EDIT]
Found a solution on another thread
Basically i needed to flash the ROM's boot image over USB using fastboot.
You can find a bit more detail in this thread

[Q] HTC One update problems

Hi.
I have just bought a used HTC One running Android 4.1.2. It say there's an update available (2.24.401) which will bring it to 4.2.2 but I have trouble installing it.
The problem might be that the phone is already rooted and has TWRP installed. I have only very little experience with rooting and recovery tools
Anyway ... what happens is that I tell it to update and it restarts the phone. Instead of just rebooting it then enters TWRP and from then on I'm lost. I can get TWRP to reboot as system but after doing so the update is still not installed.
Is there anything I can do to get the update installed ?

As I implied I have little understanding of such matter You mean restore current version and break root ? As far as I know the device has just been rooted TWRP installed - no mod or anything other than the official updates seems to have been installed.
I would not mind installing the 4.2.2 manually but I'm not sure I could find the right file anywhere....
What is your current base? I.E. 1.29.xx.xx? What is it exactly? I mean, replace TWRP with the stock android recovery, which will allow the OTA to be installed.

One of the benefits to being s-off is you don't have to take the OTA...you just flash the firmware and done.

i did that and then i was unable to take profile or prl updates :crying: it also didnt apear to have fixed the signal issue... i might not have waited enough... or it could have something to do with the unability to take prl and profile updates... anyhow ill try again from a diferent download see what happens
Did your baseband change? last four should be .0610.
If it did change then it's most likely a network issue.

Yes the baseband did change but the signal problem persists. i need to take the FULL ota to fix my phone (or install something else that will) regardless the radios alone aren't fixing the issue.
i tried flashing the rafios by themselves and it wouldnt update prl or profile; it also had the same signal issue. i tried the radios AND the new stock rom for it and same thing. i tried going back to stock and taking the ota and the ota wouldnt install.
Thoughs?
I'm the same root/s-off. I flash the h/k sound file did you find a way to install the latest ota update?
I cant figure out how to get the OTA either
I have S-Off im also rooted, and i have TWRP recovery, i can't get the zip to flash. I was thinking about doing a stock root recovery using the RUU, but then i thought if i do that, would i still be able to reroot using the same method? so my question is, how can i flash this zip and keep my root? or should do a stock recovery from the RUU and update and wait for another root? if any devs read this, i'd really like your help please and thank you. I currently have the stock rom with just root access and S-Off.no custom roms on here.
man.. i have the same problem bro.. smh.. hey man keep me posted if something comes up

You have to have stock recovery to take the update, which means you have to flash stock recovery first and then take the update, then repeat the rooting process.

you should at least have seen a green arrow circle and/or a red triangle with a "!" in the middle. if you saw the triangle that is recovery trying and failing to update. at this point if you press and releast volumeup+power it should bring up the text of what it did.

***MAKE SURE TO BACK UP PERSONAL FILES BEFORE DOING THIS***
Flash the recovery in my signature (the one that's TWRP 2.7.1.3), and then download a ROM of your choice in the Sprint HTC One Android Development section. Transfer the ROM zip file to your internal storage, boot up TWRP and wipe everything except internal storage. Finally, flash the ROM, and you should be good to go.

HTC Desire 510 64 bit unable to boot after OTA update

Hello
After trying to do an OTA update which failed my phone won't boot normally. If I just turn it on it boots into stock recovery and if I reboot it from there it just boots back into recovery.
I have tried to do a factory reset but it won't work, it seems like the system partition has been messed up.
I keep reading that I just need to "run the RUU" but I have no idea where I can find a RUU for my phone, it's a EU 64Bit version with no carrier. The htcdev site just lists kernel sources for my device.
Any idea how I can fix this and get back to a stock system?

Ok, but those are all just kernel sources, that's the problem, I can't use any of those to restore my device.

Well the only way I think you're gonna be able to fix it now is to follow the thread that shows you how to root the phone and install a recovery called philz touch recovery for 64 bit and then you'll be able to install the back up recovery that other users have posted.

Thanks, I just did this, but I installed an old backup I had made before rooting the phone earlier this year. Now I'm back!

Glad you got it fixed because I couldn't find anything for you about the RUU for 64 bit... So I was pretty sure you could fix it by rooting it!
