[Q] Cant run voodoo control plus on gingerbread 2.3.4 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The voodoo plus has been running smoothly on my 2.3.3 before installing 2.3.4
After updating my firmware to 2.3.4, i installed voodoo plus and superuser again
Now it say that superuser is not available even though i have installed it
It also says module need to be loaded
I tried to update superuser but its says "An error occurred and su was not updated. A zip file (su-2.3.1-bin-signed.zip) has been placed on your sdcard, please reboot into recovery mode and flash it to update your su binary."
What should i do now?

I would give it a try
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App

how can i flash?

Press and hold volume up + home button + power button and reboot into recovery. Then choose 'install zip from sdcard' -> 'choose zip from sdcard' and look for the su-zipo.

It says signature not found once in recovery mode when i click su.zipo
oh no

when i try to update it says "verification signature not found"
help anyone pls

[Q] "Installation Aborted"

I recently downloaded the newest CoG beta, placed it on my SD Card and selected reinstall packages. It says "Finding Update" and then "Opening Update" but then it gives a red error message telling me the installation was aborted. Am I doing something wrong?

[Q] Problems with i896 recover console

So I'm looking to root my Captivate i896 (rogers) using the RyanZA's One click lag fix. So the instructions say to enter the recover console, which I do.
The problem is that it says to pick the option "apply sdcard:update.zip", but when I am in the console, there is no such option.
The only options I have are: "reboot system now", "reinstall packages", "delete all user data" and "delete all cache data".
I have tried the reinstall packages option but I get a "E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted".
If anyone could shed some light on the situation that'd be great.

You need to install clockwork recovery first by the sound of it. Download ROM manager off the market, install clockwork recovery, reboot into clockwork recovery using the rom manager and you will see options to install zip files (I forget the exact wording). Once you're in that you will have the options apply sdcard:update.zip or choose a zip file from sdcard. Choose whatever you want and go from there.
I installed rom manager but it says i need root access
But after the installation in the recover console i have the same options

[Q] Rooted with unrevoked but apps do not recognize it

Hello,
I am a DINC owner and I am working on my brother's VZW DINC2 and I am trying to gain root.
First I installed the the newest GB RUU. (His phone was stuck on stock froyo and but would not update.) It installed flawlessly.
( RUU_Vivo_W_Gingerbread_S_VERIZON_WWE_3.02.605.1_Ra dio_1.09.01.0622_NV_VZW1.92_release_202929_signed from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033922 )
Then I ran the unrevoked beta and it installed without error and then installed clockworkmod recovery from it as well.
Now after I installed Root explorer, TI, CWM, busy box and superuser but they all claim to not be able to access root? I rebooted and tried again but not dice.
I ran unrevoked beta again and it said it was already s-off. Is there a special DINC2 trick I missed? Any ideas or troubleshooting suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
-Paul
Nevermind I missed some steps. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1219246 RTFM!
10 - On your phone, back track to the main menu of HBoot using the volume keys and Power button and select recovery (2nd Option). In a few seconds your will be in CWM.
11 - As long as you copied the signed zip file to the root of your sdcard, perform the following:
"Install Zip From SDCard" (5th Option)
"Choose Zip From SDCard" (2nd Option)
Select the root/su zip file (su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip)
Choose Yes and wait.
Back track to main menu and reboot
Click to collapse
An extra step that I did not have to do on my DINC... Live and learn, cheers!

Unable to flash ROM Galaxy Ace S5830

Problem solved long ago
Delete thread
Wrong thread to post in.
Anyways,
When you use "update from SD card" option the code is installed from "update.zip" in sdcard - so if there is some garbage code in update.zip it will corrupt the installed ROM on the device (or even the kernel - as might have happened in your case) and errors like bootloop and errors in recovery show up.
That being the background ... you should ask around in the galaxy ace section for specific instructions to use odin to restore your friends phone
Here's a little guide on how to flash a ROM via ODIN by me:
Requirements:
- A Windows computer
- A Galaxy Ace plugged into the computer via USB
- You must have ODIN installed , duh !
- (Windows Vista/7 compulsory) Running ODIN with Administrative rights:
- Ended KIES via Task manager:
Instructions:
1 - Download your favourite firmware here
2 - Extract the .rar out using WinRAR or 7zip (password is samfirmware.com)
3 - Check if it's a FULL package or ONE package:
FULL Package instructions:
1 - Open up ODIN (MAKE SURE ALL REQUIREMENTS ARE MET)
2 - Set your phone in Download Mode (Home + Power + Volume Down)
3 - Once you have correctly entered Download Mode and plugged in , this should appear in ODIN:
4 - Place the files in this order:
OPS - Select the file named Cooper_v1.0.ops (or anything like that)
BOOT - Select the file named "APBOOT_S5830xxxxx_CL514579_REV03_user_low_true.ta r.md5"
where "xxxxx" = Your firmware version
Phone - Select the file named "CODE_S5830xxxxx_CL514579_REV03_user_low_true.tar. md5"
where xxxxx = firmware version
PDA - DO NOT PLACE ANYTHING
CSC - Select the file named "GT-S5830-MULTI-CSC-xxxxxx.tar.md5"
where "xxxxxx" = the CSC region
EFS - Select the file named "MODEM_S5830xxxxx_CL514579_REV03.tar.md5"
xxxxx = firmware version (Be VERYVERY careful with this EFS part)
After you're done , click on "Start" and let the magic reveal itself slowly......
ONE Package method:
1 - Open up ODIN
2 - Set your phone in Download Mode while plugged into USB
3 - Tick the option "One Package" in ODIN (Refer to previous ODIN picture)
4 - Select the only .tar.md5 file
Now press start and watch the magic.....

Click to collapse

Good luck.

Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
Right now just try to wipe everything, and format system!
Try this time to flash the custom rom correctly!
Choose zip from SDCARD and not apply update
If that doesn´t help
try flash with ODIN 4.38

Try redownloading the file.
I have redownloaded the file and replaced on SD card but still get the same problem. Should I be installing the "CWM 5.0.2.6" file in the clockwork mod part(yellow text) or the Android recovery mode (orange text) part?
So frustrating, Im obviously doing something wrong!
p.s if I try to apply in the android update from from sdcard I get a status 2 error.
