Hi,
We have a problem with an Optimus 2X.
1. We rooted the phone
2. Installed ClockworkMod recovery from ROM Manager (Flash recovery option). Successful window appeared.
3. We boot in recovery mode from ROM Manager.
The phone now hangs on boot at the LG Logo. There is no way to boot in recovery, and there is no way to do a normal boot. (Tried to boot with volumen down and lock buttons pressed, and without pressing volume down...)
It's like there was a flag that forces the phone to "boot in recovery" or something like that.
So we can't boot the phone in any mode...
We also tried smartflash, but nothing...
Any idea? How can we restore it?
Thank you very much in advance...
I would try the procedure at this link: add "http:" infront of my links, for some reason i'm not allowed to post outside links.
//android.modaco.com/content/lg-optimus-2x-2x-modaco-com/335474/25-mar-nvflash-stock-rom-release-v10b-dated-1300166062-15-03-2011/
It uses the nvidia flash tool and will allow you to flash a clean stock rom without booting up the device or going into clockwork.
The stock rom version that you can download on the link above will do fine. After you've flashed the stockrom you can reinstall clockworkmod. If I were you I would do that using these instructions:
//android.modaco.com/content/lg-optimus-2x-2x-modaco-com/335479/10-may-3-0-2-8-clockworkmod-recovery-for-the-lg-optimus-2x/
Basically all you need to do is attach the phone to the computer, make sure usb debugging is enabled and double click the install clockworkmod.bat file found in the extracted zip file downloaded from the link below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098745
After that you should be able to flash all the custom roms you want. I hear the latest Cyanogen nightly is pretty stable!
I had the same problem and question a couple of days ago...
Mine also when trying to install CWM..
Follow this link and flash with NVflash and You should be good to go again
http://android.modaco.com/content/l...rom-release-v10b-dated-1300166062-15-03-2011/
I also gave up on the CWM flashing from PC and paid for this app in the market:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.modaco.twoxrecoveryboot&feature=search_result
Its .99 pence so not to bad... remember You NEED ROOT for the CWM recovery flashy thingy
After all flashing I just went with the stock ROM with the 0606 upgraded baseband
Works ok now (flashed with smartflash)
The 0606 baseband ROM can be found here:
Happy unbricking!
Thank you very much to both!
NVflash did the trick and I could fix the full brick!
Now I don't fear anything... nvflash can resurrect it!! xD
Thank you very much!!!!!
THANK YOU SO SO SO SO SO SO MUCH GUYS!!!!!!!!
i was messing about for about 5 hours because my apx driver didn't successfully install but i finally found one and got it to work.
i am so relieved. I can sleep easy tonight
once again a huge thanks.

Hello experts,
After CAREFULLY reading the instructions to root and install Cyanogen on my X2, I have run into a problem. After downloading Rom Manager from the market, I installed CWM, which worked fine.
Going by the instructions, I wanted to ensure I performed a NANDroid backup of the stock ROM, 'just in case'. So i did.
After confirming, and granting 'su' privileges, the phone restarted, only to be stuck on the LG logo.
Holding down VOL DNW + POWER is no help, as the phone was still stuck on the logo.
I don't understand what I have possibly done wrong, but none of this was stated in the wiki so I am assuming i'm in a unique situation?
After some googling:
> I have read that it may be from CMW converting to EXT4.. whereas the stock rom can only run in EXT3? .. android.modaco.com/topic/336318-4-apr-r1-backtoext3-for-converting-your-device-er-back-to-ext3/ ..
> All hope is not lost as apparently, I can flash to stock rom using NVFlash: .. android.modaco.com/topic/335474-25-mar-nvflash-stock-rom-release-v10b-dated-1300166062-15032011/ ..
Ok, so I understand I have a possible solution to my problem (NVFlash), however I would like to know why this happened & how I can avoid it from happening in the future.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Incase anyone else has the same problem,
SOLUTION:
For P990 - NVFlash instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1229407&highlight=recovery
Recovery images: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098745&highlight=recovery
Does this mean two versions of CWM are installed?
One with Rom Manager & one with NVFlash?
If so, how to get rid of one?

NVflash is a built in safety system by nVidia, it has nothing to do with the recovery image. You should be very careful with NVflash, because it's very low level and even the slightest mistake could brick your phone.

you can try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617458,fl**** with cwm if you can boot in cwm recovery
I tried to upgrade to a new Mintberry MIUI ROM and my phone got stuck in a bootloop. After flashing a .pit and the EZ GB bootloaders via Odin, then a Galnet MIUI Chameleon ROM, my phone still will not start properly - it keeps booting into Recovery Mode only (I can get in to Download mode if necc), and that's it. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to resolve this? When trying to restore a previous backup I just get an error message about a bad checksum and this fails as well.
Starting to fear the worst!
I have a NEO kernel.zip and a couple of MIUI.zip ROMS on the sdcard, but whatever I try I can only get the phone to boot into Recovery.

Flash it with Odin. Something must have went wrong somewhere.

First of all, I just suggested that.
Second of all, why would you link to another site for guides on how to flash custom ROMs? This is XDA Developers. There are more than enough tutorials here. The OP just needs to utilize that new search feature they implemented just yesterday.

Hi guys,
posting here as i've tried searching and nothing comes up (anything that does has out dated download links or just doesnt apply)
Problem: after rooting my phone when i try to use rom manager, nothing happens. I've bout CWM touch, I've downloaded the normal CWM but when i try to either load cyanogen from the zip on my sd card it does nothing, it prompts me to back up, wipe etc but then when it says it will boot to recovery nothing happens. Also tried other apps to reboot and none of them work
any advice on this?
I've seen a cmd prompt set of instructions for Superoneclick, but im lost as to the getting to the directory through cmd tool.
any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi , if you have CWM touch, install QtADB on your computer => http://qtadb.wordpress.com/download/
reboot recovery from menu
or install android sdk and in a command prompt : adb reboot recovery
or at reboot OB, press G-key
Did you flashed recovery? First option in rom manager.
Trolling in the deep
yep clicked the first option, the prompt for the device comes up, i hit it, then the bar loads... then "succes".
then when i try to install from SD card nothing happens
Thankyou YkZ_1967 !!! However I installed qtADB and got reboot recovery, but it just reset the phone. Any ideas?

that's depend what you want to do, if you install custom rom, reboot in recovery, wipe data/cache / dalvik , then install zip from sdcard and choose your rom, then after success flash, reboot now.
I want to install cyanogen but when i try to load from sd card in rom manager it wont go into boot recovery.
when i managed to get it to boot recovery in the way you suggested it only reset the phone.
I feel like i'm missing something, did not think it would be this difficult

That means actually no cwm recovery installed yet so it will reset your phone everytime you want to enter recovery mode. This is the best thing you should do : reroot your phone like in this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1487105. It will automatically installing cwm recovery touch. After that, you can go to recovery mode by using quick boot (download it from playstore). Therefor, you can start flashing roms, but remember don't use rom manager, coz it wont detect your cwm recovery touch and forcing you to flash the non-touch cwm recovery.

This is the root method I recommend : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22304591&postcount=91.

follow the method with smartflashtools and v20.x patched with cwm touch by SnegovikRZN , then you have OB rooted with CWM Touch, you will be able to install CM7 and unbrick your phone.
Thank you thank you thank you!!!!
Got it to work that way all i had to do was flash that then clear data/wipe cache/wipe dalvik and then load from sd card and it works! very happy now
how can I boot into recovery , from a turned off phone

after you try to install zip from SD card and fails, check to see if it shows: error can't mount /sdcard. or something like that. ???
if it syas so. try a different recovery like TWRP, i was having a problem, similar to what you describe, an hour ago while rooting and flashing my mother's in law OB, i flashed the CWMT recovery and for some reason it couldn't load the ZIP from SD and it showed this error, so i flashed TWRP recovery and then it was fine, i manage to flash marvel rom and all was good.
hope it helps.

you are right, but i had a problem, the CWM was flash and ob went into CWM recovery mode, but for some reason it stated an error that it cannot mount /sdcard, so i tried via recovery menu to mount sd card, didnt work, then i tried again to flash a different version of CWM, same error, then i went and flshed TWRP and it worked.
i wonder if its a specific OB bug, bcoz this problem happen on my mother in law OB and on my OB it was rooting and flashing just fine, exactly like the guide.
Hello friends,
I need urgent help !!!
Yesterday one of my very close friend gave me his Note to upgrade to JB (he was on ICS. LF4 if I remember correct)
So I did following :
1. Downloaded couple of Custom ROMs and PhilZ 6.26.6 on to his phone (External SD)
2. Tried to boot into Recovery and voila.....his HOME button is not working. Anyways I booted and adb reboot recovery
3. Then I flashed PhilZ and it flashed successfully. Since I couldn't boot into Recovery without Home button I did Reboot System.
4. Stuck in N7000 Blackscreen and adb shows Device Offline
What I am planning to do now
1. Put device to DOWNLOAD mode through USB JIG
2. Flash Stock JB (Here's 2nd problem - download links are not working for Stock JB at least not Indian one Can somebody with fast internet plz upload it on dev host or Mediafire and share with us. Thanks !!! )
3. Reboot into Recovery and flash PhilZ
4. Flash Custom ROM
Am I doing things right? Is my direction correct?
I would still prefer if I somehow could boot in current OS, put some Custom Recovery and flash Custom ROM. Saving Stock ROM flash path and ODIN.
Plz help and advise !!!!!
Thanks !!!
You installed a kernel that doesn't fit to ICS. So it's no suprise the system doesn't boot. Install an ICS kernel and at least the system should start again.
And after that: give it back to your friend and let him repair the home button first. Don't risk being the fool who ruined his device.
Update: just read again and saw that right now you don't get a connect with adb. So yes, it seems to be the only solution to install an stock rom with Odin. After that I still would give it back for repair.

Can you give me link for safe ICS kernel ? Will this work http://www.mediafire.com/download/32ik5mg6bgg8q1d/PhilZ-cwm6-XXLRK-XEU-3.99.tar.md5
I need to boot in the current OS once to take backup of EFS (I heard JB wiped off EFS of few).
Thanks for coming forward to help !!!
Yes this is an ICS kernel with Philz recovery. Should work and give you the chance to reboot into the OS.
And a backup of EFS is a very good idea (after a repair in Thailand I'm using a developer imei).
Good luck.
Hi!
Today i wanted to update my firmware just because Samsung Kies asked me if i wanted to. I couldn't have been more wrong when i chose to update.
The update froze at 3% and after a lot of time i unplugged the phone and ended up with a brick instead of a phone.
If i try to turn it on, i get a black screen with a "phone--!--pc" picture. I can enter Download Mode by pressing VolumeDown + HomeButton + PowerButton and i get an android logo with ''Downloading... Do not turn off target'' written under it.
My phone was never rooted, nor updated ( it remained with its out-of-the-factory OS and everything ).
For the past 6 hours i've been trying to use Odin v4.43 along with AriesVE.ops (the one from the well-known WORKED2 archive) to try and get recovery-clockwork to work.
So my questions are:
Given the fact that my phone was not rooted, how can i get my GT-I9001 to work again? Is this even possible?
Can i first root it in its condition, then flash a custom rom like cyanogenmod? Or do i need to install a stock rom and then try a custom one?
What other options do i have?
Everything i've tried so far with Odin froze while downloading and i have no other solution to this problem. Please help!

Yes it is possible as long as your device boots into Download mode.
No you can't root it in its current condition.
You need to download a stock firmware, flash it using Odin or Heimdall (recommended), then root it and finally install a custom ROM if you want.

Thank you for answering!
I fixed the issue. Tried different usb port along with a different version of CWM (5.5.0.4) which I installed with Odin v4.43. CWM 5.5.0.4 caused a bootloop, but i used it only to install CWM 6.0.4.9 from external_sd, so the bootloop problem was gone. Then flashed CyanogenMod 11 and now works like a charm !
I attached an archive with CWM 5.5.0.4, AriesVE.ops and Odin v4.43, so that anyone having my problem can solve it the way i did. But keep in mind that this version of CWM *may* cause a bootloop, so prior to installing it, you should have a working version of CWM on your external_sd. Use CWM 5.5.0.4 to install the better version of CWM from your external_sd. Also, whatever you do is at your own risk!
