Hey hii,
i have the SGT using it since 4mnths completely impressed with its functionality and i have upgraded my tab from 2.2 froyo to 2.3.3 ginger bread via some video tut available at that time and i have removed all user data and factory reset info and in 2.3.3 there was no eBook app which was my fav so i decided to downgrade to froyo after downgrade my tab stuck at download mode and then i force switched it off then by some way with XDA help got the tab to dwld mode and again i have flashed with 2.3.3 as above surprisingly i got my eBook app back ...
and now im completely satisfied with GB so i want to make it my factory default
so that if change firmware also i can get back to the GB by factory reset
some plz lemme knoe how to do it

if you have gingerbread now , you can do Factory reset and you'll still have Gingerbread
FACTORY RESET is only to DELETE APPS , GAMES , FILES , BUT NOT SYSTEM FILES
if you have Froyo THE SAME
FACTORY RESET is only to DELETE APPS , GAMES , FILES , BUT NOT SYSTEM FILES
So if you have system , this system will not be deleted by any chances , only if you are noob enough to delete some files from the system by root , and i doubt you don't have root so pls do not root your tab keep it like this for better
Hey u my tab is rooted

Certainly makes you think twice before messing with the Tab!
ebook app is available as an apk download, just google for it.....
the absence of ebook is not a valid reason to get back to froyo
Ive searched ebook app for 2 days have found the .apk and .odex files and tried placing them in /system/app directory initially failed and later by searching unix books got mounted it and copied it to app directory then also no use its not installing so i decided to go back to froyo n then on to GB
presently im a noob ll 1 day bcome an expert hoping so just started learing android since 1 week ...

Hello everyone!
I'm new to the XDA forums and also new to android (Moved this week from iPhone 4)
So, my phone came with a custom ROM
I just flashed the Darky Ressurection ROM successfully.
But, i noticed that my SD card have A LOT of junk.
So, i wanted to know, how to format the sd card?
And also, will it affect my my Darky ROM ?
EDIT: Forgot to mention that i did the Wipe Factory Data \ Cache from recovery.
Thanks !
you can format the sd card under recovery menu, it wont do no harm but it will remove extras like darkys wall paper and icon packs (installed into the rom)
but you will see that in time folders will come back and you might not know what they are.. its just the phone needs certain files to operate... but its no biggie
oh and welcome to android !!! you'll never go back

Thanks mate.
Its just that i dislike seeing all those folders when connecting my phone to the PC
xD
BTW, just lagfixed the phone after 3-4 days of countless guides reading and exploring the web.
you soon grow used to them...
Whenever you flash a new ROM MAKE SURE YOU DISABLE THE LAGFIX....
thats the biggest cause of bricked phones, but as long as you remember you wil be fine

Thanks for the headsup
well i was going through linda file manager and noticed i can get into system apps loaded on the phone...is it possable to delete some app on the system without messing with the phone?
i wouldnt.. lol is it stock firmware?
no im using a 2.3.3 rom
o ok well uhh you can try it... be sure to make a backup and not to remove system required .apk's lol
thats why i asked i dont want mt phone to explode on me yet...just wanted to see if its safe to free some room by deleting some apk's that i never use
o yeah its safe just be sure to make a backup so if anything goes wrong you can wipe and restore!! just removing apk's wont brick your device!
ahaha ok thank you so much...just dont want to try anything major to my phone till i upgrade
haha i know what you mean.. can always hit the thanks button

Yeah surely you can. Check the relevant links in my signature.
2- should i flash it with ics or wait for the original update via ota and update it normaly and even if i wait to the offical one will i be able to root it ?
You can flash ICS if you are ready to deal with the bugs and issues that are still nor sorted out. Because official ICS is not out hence its not Perfect. Flash only when you are ready to deal with it. Yeah you will be able to root official ICS too. Its xda brother
3- i need an app to control my usge data am using my data manager but it shows me os services and other thing that uses my data without me know am not used to this when i had symbian belle on my n8 so is there any app i can control what apps can connect to the internet and be able to use my data because i only have 2 GB per a month
Yeah you can use the inbuilt data monitor in ICS to restrict the data used the an app. Though there should be an app in Play Store too to achieve that on GB. I have never looked but search function is the best friend.
4- if i flash a custom rom will i lose all my data like music and pics
No anything stored in your sd card wont be wiped. Only your apps and their data will get wiped (for the first time...after rooting you can even back all these up)sms and contacts will get wiped too. So make sure you backup.
5- if i flash a kernal will i lose data like music and pics
See answer to 4 above.

Hi all,
my 1st post (wohoo) , been a lurker for years tho many thx to all the talented ppl in these forums and apology for my somewhat insufficient english.
Im on [ROM] X with the NEXT Floating Multiwindows and since I cant post in the actual dev thread I need to ask something here (made a search but cant solve my problem).
everything was working fine until I added a row in build.prop a tweek for wifi scan (dont want it to scan every 2sec..)
the phone rebooted after the adding of the line and didnt boot up again, all I got was a sound of "samsung boot" and thats it.. phone was just vibrating.
I extracted the build.prop trough adb, changed it back and pushed it back in, obv according to all the rules (read some posts about "how to" just in case I missed something)
phone rebooted and Im now stuck on bootloop loading up to "samsung" and just rebooting from there.
obv I was stupid enough and didnt make a backup in cwm.
I rly dont want to loose everything and having to start over again with all the setting up and so..
is there ANY way around this bootloop without having to actually reinstall the whole damn rom.
is the build.prop responsible for the bootloop in this case?
Question for an admin/moderator: do I rly need to post 10 times in general before I can post in this devs ROM thread ? the dev was asking for feedback and I got a few things concerning his rom (this above not being one rly).
thx for any inc respons!
I'm afraid you'll have to reinstall the ROM. But if you reinstall the same ROM you don't lose any data, so flash the ROM you're currently on if you can enter recovery.
cheers, idd I could get to cwm and reinstall the rom and save my self a bit of pain, too bad there isnt a real way to come around this tho.
my question still remains tho, do u think build.prop could have cased this even after pushing back a "fixed" one ?

So far adding lines in built.prop it shld be working fine without bootloop..
for ur case u might miss out something maybe u do it differently..not sure...
if u got a bootloop just becuz changing a built.prop u don't even have to flash a rom again.
u can always make a copy in ur sdcard n if any problems occurred u can always use
aroma file manager in philz CWM to change back the original built.prop.
another easiest way u can always make a flashable zip n place it to ur external sdcard
n flash it via Philz cwm.. download the templates from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240619
don't extract it !just drag ur built.prop to the system n flash in cwm !
Hi, Im already using aroma file manager in cwm, weird thing is (and I guess I just kinda answered my own question now... took some time to notice is tho.. Im slow) my /system was empty , somehow I must have manged to erase the whole /system just after editing my build.prop ... since the Note is like my 4th phone I play around with I thought I was pretty much safe or at least somewhat knowledgeable about at least flashing rom:s and playing around... I guess Im gona have to rethink that .
I reflashed the rom and luckily I had an older titanium backup on the SD so at least I got most of my things back and working properly now.
with that "solved" I guess Im gona go back to flashing new exciting roms for some more fun.
Cheers for the inputs boys and girls, have a good one!
samsung galaxy s 3 mini , virgin mobile , United Kingdom
hi guys and girls , ok heres the thing this is the first time I ever got my phone rooted , its great ive found loads of great advantages , BUT im having problems, not all the time but sometimes as I return to the menu all I get is a black screen with my apps (no background could this be due to something ive deleted?) , next up I never backed up my device properly, neither befor of after the root, (except for what basic files are on google drive and my Samsung backup, now since then ive removed a lot of junk off of my phone like google movies, book apps etc ....but how can I get this back and make my mobile appear "never rooted" if I ever wanted to send it for repair? I know I can re download all of this from the google store but will these become system apps again or will they know the difference? the backup that Samsung does , does this consist of the above or only basic files again?has anyone got a full list of the apps and bits that should be there ? sorry I know alot of questions , and finaly how do you update android when its rooted ? I keep geting a msg about not available something to do with my kernal whatever that is lol ?
oh ps: its great that everywhere I look I keep seeing all the good bits about rooting , would anyone like to make one about the down side ? ie no sky go , line apps etc... so many apps just don't work , I only found out a few days later .
do you have the original version only rooted?
if so, download triangle away from the forum~,run it and make sure your counter is at 0
next step is changing the system part where says CUSTOM it need to say official (about device -under settings)
for that you just need to unroot and to make sure every thing else is ok factory reset it
to unrooot, unbrick and original firmware see this thread here --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2159660
well im uning the original rom if thats what you mean I havnt changed that , ty im using super su pro , I can unroot directly , will trying triangle , unrooting and hard reseting going to bring back all the apps back? I herd otherwise befor ?
thank you

No, you have to either put them back yourself or flash rom again.
For triangle away and sytem official, have a look here [INFO] System OFFICIAL, TriangleAway, Binary count, Root, Recovery [UPDATED 130505]

ok thanks to both of you , allmost finished now but is it possible to get hold of the original rom ? ie as it comes in the box ? or/and is there a list that I can compare what I have to see what I need to add? and with that how do I make an app I download become a system app ie , so once I unroot it will be undeletable?

You'll find firmware at http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
For apps to become systemapps, move apk to "/system/app" and change permission to 644 (rw-r-r-), reboot.
