Hi,
I'm currently using the QND MIUI Rom from this thread on my N1:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1084726
I think this is a very nice ROM and jbbandos did a good job. But I have the following problem: I don't seem to have any dictionaries for the languages installed. I set my system language to German, but when I type I don't get any suggestions, except the names in my contact list.
Furthermore, no matter what language I choose, I always have a QWERTY keyboard although I'd rather want to have a QWERTZ keyboard.
Am I doing something wrong, or did I miss an important part? Before using this QND MIUI ROM, I used the RoDrIgUeZsTyLe ROM and when choosing the system language I could see below most of the languages "dictionary available", but this is not the case for this ROM.
What can I do?
I would have posted my question in the above mentioned thread, but due to my low post count I'm not allowed to post it there. Ridiculous, but okay....
Many thanks in advance for any help
Someone with the same qwertz problem got this answer.
@tommert38: Thanks for your answer. To workaround the problem I'm currently using the HTC IME keyboard, which is fine.
But I guess the problem is not supposed to exist, at least nobody complained so far in the "main thread". So either nobody needs those keyboard suggestions, or I must have done something wrong or missed an important setting.

Because there was no Dutch WM6.1 ROM around for the Wings, I took the liberty of building one myself. It is based on Alcalines stable 6.1 WWE ROM.
The ROM is in Dutch and can be changed to English, although I do not really see the point in doing that myself
Download
here (Megaupload)
The ROM is splash screen and os only. You will need HardSPL / CID unlocked to be able to flash it. There is plenty of information around here how to do that.
Known bugs/issues
- Time zone is at GMT right after flashing. Go to Start > Instellingen > Klok en alarmsignalen > Datum en tijd to set it to the correct time zone, 'Nederlands'. You need to be there anyway.
- Battery meter on the home screen refuses to open power control panel.
- Phone band selection screen is still in English. -> fixed in version 3
- In-call menu doesn't contain text when set to Dutch.
edit 11/12/08: uploaded a new version with total commander and oxios hibernate included. Fixed a couple of mistakes (such as the IE homepage displaying an error).
If you have any comments or discover any things that I've missed, please let me know.
Hi spone1,
Looks really cool! I would like to do the same for Swedish. Can you give some instructions how to do it?
/Peter
petersa,
This is how I did it:
- Get a stable base ROM to build from (Alcaline's ROM in my case)
- Find a WM6.1 standard ROM that contains the Swedish language files (mui files)
- Copy them over to the base ROM
- Tell the ROM there are additional languages available (adding a MUI, making sure that the XT9 is set, for Swedish there might possibly a different keymap needed, don't know).
- Rebuild and flash, test
...
- Profit
Thanks!
Could you elaborate a little on the "Copy them to the base ROM" and "Rebuild and flash"?
If I find the MUI files can I simply just put them in the right folder on my S730 or do I have to build a new ROM and flash? If so, do you have any links how to build a ROM?
Sorry for all questions but I'm a newbie to ROM cooking...
/Peter
Take a look at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Vox, it is for the Vox but Wings is more or less the same. I would appreciate it though if you'd make your own thread from now on instead of hijacking mine
Nice try, but if I change the language to English I cannot use the keyboard. Always the FN is on, but the led is off. Strange.
Can you please be more specific? Where did you change the language? Regional settings?
edit: just tried switching the phone to fully US English with English time settings and such, and it works fine. But maybe I am testing the wrong thing. You might want to try an additional hardreset?

I have flashed the rom (very easy, allready had hard spl). After that the rom booted and I did go to the settings and changed the Regional Settings Language to English. After that I tried to setup an e-mail account, but that didn't work. Sending a SMS didn't work too, both times I couldn't get letters.
Ofcource I rebooted the phone several times, but didn't work If you need more info, PM me for Dutch
Thanks for your help spone1

translate xuque's last rom
hoihoi,
Can somebody translate the rom from this tread in post 4 to dutch?
If it is all about MUI files and one registry setting, than why is so difficult too made one international rom?
just asking, I'm totally no cooker, have tried it in the past, but it's too difficult for me. and I'm scared for f*cking up my phone.
groetjes,
Niels
What are the advantages over, say, Alcaline's ROM? Yes I know that some things are a newer version, but what makes it better and worth to spend my time on
NICE! Great job
Phone Functions missing
Hi Spone,
I've made use of your version and finally my 730 is stable and usable. Thanks.
But I now miss two functions to optional use during a call:
-Mute
-Speaker
Is there anything available getting these functions back.
HLN
Hmm, now you say so. As far as I can see something went wrong with the translation leaving us without a menu to use these functions. I'll look into it.
Concerning the mute function, probably not entirely the same but if you press the center button on the D-pad the call is put on hold.
edit: nevermind about that last thing, just read your PM
thumbs up
Great job spone!
Took the step this morning and flashed your rom. Works like a charm.
Besides a little lag at startup when inserting pin and a few English words here and there (e.g. at profiles) this is definitely the best solution for the Dutch S730-owners.
Thanks a lot

Hi Spone1
Your ROM rocks.... but I really miss the speaker option. Any news on this?

I've been looking at it, tried replacing files but it doesn't seem to pick it up
Currently I dont have the time to investigate it any further, I might in the future. Coming up with a possible new solution, editing, flashing, testing takes quite some time When you set the rom to english though, it actually does display the text. Anyone with a hint?
Great job!!!
My s730 is now a lot faster and its very stable!
Thank you very much
Greatings from Holland!
nice work
After waiting for a long time (put my fear a side) to update/upgrade my phone finally I did it and...... Install went perfectly! Next job, test this nice rom. to be continued ....

Yes indeed.
I installed it and was searching for the function, thought i was getting crazy.
Would be nice if this will be fixed, it's a real must have for your mobile.
Any progression Spone?
Sorry I posted this in the Rom section, could the mods delete it?
I've used the Trinity Roms that supports Chinese, but it crashes at least once a day and resets itself to factory settings randomly.
Yesterday I flashed to Duttys_5.2.20764.1.4.3_V4_Full_MSVC__2.03_ It seemed stable enough but it doesn't have Chinese support.
Searching on the XDA forum got me to ime-mingliu.cab but it says only supports Traditional Chinese. Could someone please point me to a Simplified support?
I need English interface with Chinese display support.
Also I use Plum 1.6 for input, but that might also be the reason why Trinity crashed, could someone suggest something similar to that and link me?
try this app "zta4"
go google it, its free
try googling CE-Star 2.8 R3c
The problem with CE Star is that it's a paid software
(if you don't want to use it illeagally) Anyway the C version doesn't even have a crack anyway.
Therefore I suggest you to use Ricky's pack (try to make a search with Chinese font as keywords in Diamond forum, you'll find it.
This is what I did, and I've been using this pack for a couple of weeks without any trouble.
Enjoy!
Hi all, I've been unable to find a solution to this strange and irritating problem...all I have managed to find is this post describing the same thing.
Basically the phone will suggest words incorrectly and not show the real word you actually want. If you delete it and type the same again though it'll appear as normal. This occurs using both the Phone Keypad and Compact Qwerty.
Secondly the first word in the suggested list is a nonsense word every time though it is at least not selected.
e.g. typing hello on the Phone Keypad displays "gdjjm" before hello or "gello" using the Compact Qwerty.
I first encountered this after installing Dutty's latest ROM even though the change log for that says it's fixed. Today though I installed CT's latest ROM instead which initially had fixed the problem, however suddenly it is back just the same as before. If anyone has any idea what's causing this, or more importantly how to fix it, it'd be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Mik
Anyone got any ideas?
Ive got the exact same problem. Quite annoying.
Im also on dutty's V4.
For example for me, i press 8 then 4 then 3 (to get the word "the") and it will produce something like "vif", which obviously isnt a word, i will delete the three characters and repress 8,4,3 and i will get the word "the" with other alternative suggestions. Happens only sometimes, and i think ive pressed a wrong button, but when i work out the letters, i know ive pressed it correctly.
Any help would be great (maybe this should be posted into dutty's thread)

Im also using dutty v4, and i get stuff like that happening all of the time.
for eg, i type "res" for "rest" and the suggestions are: "residents, bisho" , "Research" , "result" , "rest"
another, if i type "arg" for "argue" the first suggestion is "argumentation" then "argumentative" then "arguement" and there is no argue!!
i mean WTF is residents, bisho? i have never added that to my dictionary in my life!
Someone at Micro**** neads to learn how to spell, or optimize the way the dictionary is utilised.
It is funny, when i had a hermes, it came with windows mobile 5 and there was no problems there!
anyone know how to fix this?
I have the exact same "problem".
I'm not on dutty's, but am using CT's Version 6.4 HD now (used a few other versions of him too) and the problem occurs in all these versions.. Even the original ROM had this problem in my case.
It can be a little annoying so I hope there is a solution for this..

If you add "argue" to your wordlist, it will appear as the first word in the future, it's the best solution at this time imo, but i totally agree with you that a word like "argue" should be in the dictionairy by default.
Cheers!

Just before typing this i have just send my friend the following
"you seduction to come to my place...."
when i was wanting to say "you sed to come to my place...."
i know im abbreviating said to sed, but shurely there is something else in the english language between sed.......&.......seduction!
I've had this on both Duty's and CT's latest ROMs so I wonder if the problem lies with the standard ROM on which they're based?
It's becomming very annoying to write messages as I'm having to type half my words out twice so it finds the right one! Can anyone help in any way?
maybe there is a solution to this problem

I am from Romania (Europe) and I needed a romanianT9 so I installed the EzInput keyboard from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426281. But I also noticed that I don't have the described problem with the english T9 even if I also use Dutt's v4. I'm not sure if I had this problem before installing EzInput (because I didn't use english T9) but I guess that you guys should give it a try. Here is what you need:
later edit: I've just noticed that the Dutty's v4. already had the EzInput! Anyhow, it might work if you install the latest version of EzInput (wich I attached here).
And another thing crosses my mind: is it possible that the former version of EzInput (wich is included in the Dutty's v4 release) is actually the reason for all these strange behaviour?
cant install, but the uk t9cab did?

I would agree with the fact that it is ezinput causing the issue, can you post a link to the thread instead of the CAB.
many thanks

A solution
I installed the nordic Touch HD keyboard on my diamond from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=460872
and it sorts the gibberish first word problem out. I am running Dutty v4
I tried to get some responses in another thread but didn't get much response. I got one confirmation from another user that he experienced the same. On the new JP6 firmware, there is a bug in swype, specifically in the Norwegian dictionary.
THIS ERROR WAS INTRODUCED IN JP6/JPM, or perhaps an earlier froyo release. I have found it in both JP6 and JPA.
Here's what I wrote:
I see that you are Norwegian too. Can you help me check a potential Swype issue? Try to use swype (preferrably in the "Write and Go" app), and try to add the words "ej", "dej" or "mej" (they are dialect words for "jeg", "deg" and "meg"). I can't seem to add them even though other words work. Maybe I need another factory reset or reflash, if it turns out it works with you.
Edit: Use the norwegian dictionary for swype. If you don't know how to add words, you can either:
- Tap the words one letter at a time, then press space
- Tap all the words at once, select them and press the swype key (if the first does not work)
Edit2: The words I mentioned appear in other dictionaries like UK English and German, but not in the Norwegian dictionary.

As you can see, this question is mostly directed towards Norwegian people, but I guess other people can try to add the words and see if it is in their Norwegian dictionary still.
I have already reported the issue in the swype forums, but I want to make sure it's not just me (and that other guy).
Edit: Have confirmed this bug with both stock swype 2.6.47.11856 and with Swype 2.4.44.10814 (used a guide to change versions). I'm starting to think it is the rom that's causing it.
Anyone? Just try to add the words:
"ej"
"mej"
"dej"
to the Norwegian dictionary, to test if you can swype them after. I really want to confirm it so I can report it to swype developers.
Still hoping for some help here, guys.

Bumping with new information
Hi all,
I want to start by saying that this forum has been very helpful to my in customising my GT-I9000, and I want to thank you all for this help. I have had a Galaxy S for about a week and I am really liking the flexibility of this phone. But without your efforts, there would not be near as much flexibility.
So I have a question about language support across different firmwares. It requires a little explanation, so I apologies in advance if it is a bit too much text. I use linux a fair bit, but I am new to Android so I dont know many of the details of the system yet. I am a n00b, however, I want to show that I actually put effort into what I want to do instead of just asking for someone else to do it for me from the beginning.
I would like to have the ability to send SMS in Hebrew from the SGS native messaging software. I find no problem inputting in Hebrew using various Keyboards such as AnySoftKey. However, the sms is received as a series of question marks. I guess it is a lack of character support, probably somewhere between typing the text in Hebrew, and the phone transmitting it across the networks.
I could install a firmware from an Israeli network as they have Hebrew input on their firmware versions. However, these are not very up-to-date and I would rather use a newer firmware (I have JPX with Darky's Gingerbread 6.0 mod, which is very up-to-date ).
I want to take it step by step, so I think I should start with the Keyboard input.
AnySoftKeboard works well for Hebrew input, and the text it makes works in all apps except the Messaging app (although it looks just fine on my side). But Perhaps the Samsung Keyboard would work?
I have looked at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796854
It describes methods of porting Keyboards from one firmware version to another. This is specific to porting the Eclair keyboard to Froyo.
So I tried to apply this logic to my needs. But I have difficulties knowing which firmwares have Hebrew language input support, yet alone a keyboard that is compatible with JPX. I tried with the keyboard from firmware I9000JHJP8 (only one I am sure has Hebrew support), but the porting following the instructions in the thread did not work. I am sure with some trial an error (and probably lots and lots of error ) I would eventually be able to get it to work.
So before I start trying to get it to work, I would like to know if you think that changing the keyboard would make any difference, or, if the problem lays somewhere else?
Thanks in advance for the help.
Hey. I hate to bump this but its gone to many pages from the first.
I wont bump again as I guess there may be no answer for this question.
Still Should I bother trying to convert the keyboard as i suggested above?
