Can we use google phone from gmail from the phone or it has to from the website and a desktop?
I tried going to my gmail via dolphin in phone but couldn't find the phone chat.
It's called "Talk". It's a system app, which is Google Talk, and there's a hacked version that includes voice&video.
Where can i get eh hacked version of Talk? Is it possible to send video forom N1 ( with the back camera ofc) and recive video from other ppl?

Hi,
I recently found that there is an option for adding IM accounts for each contact. While in Edit Contact mode you have the choice to add an IM account (most common ones) for each contact. If you add an IM account you will then have a choice within a contact to start IM chat with that specific person.
My problem is that if I add an Microsoft Live account for one of my friends nothing happens when I try to send a message. E.g There is no application linked to this action.
It works well if I instead use Google Talk, but then that application is installed on the phone.
Since there is no official MSN application available I wonder if there is a way to get this working ? Is there an Motorola app which is not present on my phone? (running custom firmware) or is there a way to link a specific app to that action ? (Ebuddy for example) or how is this intended to be used ?
Been searching the net for an answer without any luck.

nope, instant messaging from contacts is only avail. for Gtalk.
some extra functionallity comes with the official skype app, (like in facebook or twitter)
but you can mess aound with jabber transports if ur rly interessted, that works quite well for me, but can get complicated too.
there are guides for that out there - if u google "jabber transport gtalk"

Thanks for the reply. I also found out that this has nothing to do with Motorola, since it looks and behaves the same on my Samsung Galaxy. Looks like Google prepared for IM via Contacts but since there are no offical clients (or non official) that integrates with the contacts it doesn't work. Would be good to be able to configure this yourself. Anyway I will stick with Ebuddy which lets me connect to different networks within the same applikation.

Hello everyone, although this is not an app I figured I would share this with everyone since it works much better than Chrome to Phone but please take note that this will require the google voice extension for Chrome. I just remembered that I have a Google Voice account, not sure how it works about getting one anymore because I got mine by referral a long time ago, but if you can get one this is what I did.
Requirements:
Google Chrome
Google Voice account
Google Voice Chrome extension
A cellphone
First add yourself as a contact in your voice account, make sure that it's your cellphone number and not Google Voice's number.
Second install the Google Voice extension for Chrome
Third open the Google Voice extension and "text" your cellphone a link, or whatever, and then save the contact from the text into your phone. Your pretty much finished.
Why I like this method?
Not only can I send stuff from the browser to my phone, but from my phone to the browser, instantly.
Its as fast as an sms, not ten minutes or more like Chrome to Phone.
Much more reliable.
One less app on my Epic4g.
Also this is my first official post of anything significant so I am sorry if this doesn't go here but I am pretty sure no one else has posted this
How can I use the Android to Send Google SMS ?
The default app, Google Voice says Its not available to locations outside USA.
Is there a workaround, to make this work on android?
Nope. Unless if you wanna do proxy.
I searched and tried many options, including the most famous one by [email protected], for installing Google Video Talk in my phone[Samsung Galaxy S Plus (i9001)]. Recently I had upgraded its firmware to 2.3.6.
The problem is everytime I try to start GTalk, i get "Force Close" message. The installer given by [email protected] doesn't even make backup. So now I lost the original Gtalk too.
Does anyone know of GTalk installer that works with android 2.3.6 (preferably on i9001). Seems like there was some installer provided Brainwash in the Google Market, but now it has been deleted by google.
I don't want to flash my device for this simple purpose. If anyone using i9001 with 2.3.6 firmware can provide me with the related files(/system/apps/talk.apk, /system/lib/libtalk_jni.so, GoogleServicesFramework.apk), I can at least get the original GTalk working.
use google+ messenger and you have a fully functional gtalk av.
Hi,
Thanks for your response. Turned out I was not able to use any of the google services. I had to flash my phone using odin.
One more curiosity, is there any tools like odin for Linux OSes. It's ironic that android itself has linux kernel, but to install it we need windows.

Unfortunately this is not a solution as gTalk chat is soemthing completly different than G+ chat
I'm also interested how to install gTalk with voice/video on I9000 2.3.6
I think gtalk is on the same server as google+.
Im using google+ and i can make video calls to friends.

all gtalk users have a google account. therefore it should not be a problem for your friends to switch to google+ messenger and use that instead, both on pc and mobile. If they do not want all other g+ stuff syncing, they can selectively disable sync.
that's why I suggested google+

Gtalk is integrated with Contacts app on Samsung. You can initiated a chat from Contact app, you can see when someone is online.
I do use G+, however it's simply to bloated. And finally gtalk *is integrated* with Gmail.
