Is there any offline map app available? I'm using maps from Google but it only works online. Thanks!

I haven't used it, but a friend highly recommends Copilot. It is a paid app, and relatively pricey (10 bucks or so), but from what I understand, it downloads the maps while you're on wi-fi so that you have them even without a data connection.
Gaia Topo (I got it as a free Amazon app of the day) is supposed to let you download maps for offline use.

Any way to get Bing Maps to work on the Xoom? Even in the browser? A lot of the areas I viewed on the PC were much better looking and detailed than google maps when in the satellite view and I'd love to have it on the Xoom. I found an old verizon bing app apk, but it doesn't look like it does when viewing maps on a PC.
Have you tried alternate browsers? Opera or Dolphin maybe.

You should give a try to orux maps from market. It's free and the developer has done some excellent work. If you choose online maps and select some Microsoft's map it's actually bing's map.

I just tried it and it seems to work now. First time it didn't load the maps in the right frame. Still not ideal, but it works.

I like this app, but it doesn't do the high quality birds eye view that Bing maps has.
Has anyone noticed Google Play apps being very slow to download? I'm in the northeast in NY and anytime I try to download an app it downloads at about 150kb/s. This is while in WiFi or 3G.

I'm in RI and I am getting about the same download speed. It doesn't seem to matter if its wired or wireless, 3G or 4G. I also noticed that app updates are considerably slower than installing new apps.

Have either of you tried changing to a more favorable server? Speedtest.net app on the play store will allow you to change to a more favorable server with a higher download speed. Check it out, hope that helps.
A lot of devs say that Aptoide is a good store, but I haven't received a single download from it. My app has 2000+ downloads on Google Play and another 2000+ on other stores.
This might happened because the app is under my store, so it's probably not visible for a normal search. Here is the link to it:
http://babestudios.store.aptoide.com/app/market/com.babestudios.blq/8/3689003/British Logo Quiz
I noticed the apps in the main page are in the 'apps' store.
Here is a link to an app in the 'apps' store:
http://apps.store.aptoide.com/app/market/com.kiloo.subwaysurf/34/3782465/Subway Surf
So what am I missing? What should I do to publish apps in the 'apps' store?
You need to advertise and give your link out to the proper audience, its not always easy but it can be effective. I've gotten lots of downloads on aptoide (lol, because of one well advertised minecraft app) and been marked as a trusted source. You could use twitter, reddit, Facebook etc... Aptoide doesn't cost $25 so you can't expect the same results you would get on play store.

Trusted source meaning you got to the 'apps' store?
Well, I would rather use my budget and my social networks to advertise my app on Google Play. Maybe I will submit the link to my Aptoide store on some pirate sites. Thanks for the insight.
I'm on a rooted Kindle HD 7in. Is there a way to get Apps from the google play store to show up in the Kindle Freetime app?

Would love to know how to do this as well. I have many app bought from google play that I want to let me kids use in FreeTime.
I'd like to do the same with sideloaded books as well.

I decided not to use Free Time and instead see what Google Play had to offer. I now have Kids Place with Screen Time: Parental Controls installed. With those two apps, I can give access to any apps I want my son to use all within the custom launcher. With the second, I can control how long he can use certain apps and set time limits for school days and weekends and even bed time settings. What's nice about screen time is that they offer a "remote control" where I can see what and how long He's been in an app right from my phone. I can also pause his time remotely if he's grounded or supposed to be doing something else. It's a pretty sweet and customizable setup.

This setup is way better than what Free Time has to offer.

Probably too little, too late, but then again, maybe not, but Amazon has finally released an android version of the Amazon Instant Video app:
http://www.droid-life.com/2014/09/09/amazon-prime-finally-comes-to-android-after-all-these-years/
However, no Chromecast support. Boo!
It does work. I've installed it on both my RAZR HD and my Nexus 7. However, you must also have the Amazon store app installed as well.
On the Nexus 7, you MUST install the non-tablet version of the Amazon store app. Until I installed the non-tablet version, it would keep telling me I had to install it and then would redirect me to the Amazon store web page.
Anyway to get it to work offline? Looks like you can only stream. I tried to purchase a video and download it. No dice.
Amazon and Netflix are streaming services.

That's kind of short sighted.
On the kindles, you can download videos for offline play. A buddy of mine does this frequently for long flights.
I meant that Amazon prime is streaming. Maybe it is different on an amazon device..I don't know. I think you may be able to download if you rent or buy but I'm not sure.

Doesn't surprise me Amazon didn't include Chromecast, even though it is the #1 selling devices in Electronics on Amazon.
Maybe they think this will increase their streaming player's popularity... They'd be wrong. But maybe that's what they're thinking =).
There doesn't appear to be a way to download currently on Androids. Hopefully, this will be in a future update, but I'm not sure. I'm just glad I can access my Instant videos from my Android device now without having to use the Dolphin browser. So much better.
Maybe now I can remove Flash from my device as that was the only reason I had it installed.
