I have a sprint galaxy tab and am so lost on rooting it. I've rooted several evo 4g's,(cm7) and a nook color(cm7). But this sgt really has my tit in a ringer. I've downloaded and ran the superoneclick but it wont grab. I'm a chef...... Not that advanced with tecnology but enough to root, flash every rom, kernel, theme, etc with my evo and nook color. I'm not a dope with android but this one has me spinning. Need to flash any rom, kernel, theme etc with my evo or nook color.... You got it but my sprint galaxy tab is has me looking at my pc like a dope! Once I get rooted and cwm there is no stopping me (I'm a flashaholic) but dam this sprint galaxy tab has me tredding water. Any pointers for a dopey chef would help.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

I used Superoneclick with no problem. Did you follow the directions step by step? Maybe you need to install some sort of driver.
Good luck!

I had no issues with mine http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14036052&postcount=4 ... SuperOneClick can get it here http://shortfuse.org/?p=13 and make sure before you connect that you have USB debugging selected, then once that's done just click root and few moments later happy days!
If you can tell me the steps your following then can see whats happening and where your going wrong.
Let me give it another whirl and I'll tell ya step by step. Just woke up and have to go to work so it may be a few.

Hi guys, I'm totally new to the Galaxy Tab as well as the Android world. I just bought a used Verizon Galaxy Tab and it has the EC02 firmware on there. Is it possible for me to root this Tab?
I searched and did not come up with a definitive answer, so if you have done it PLEASE let me know. Thanks!
Try the z4root app, that's how I did it and it worked perfectly. As to where you can get it, Google always helps (;

Z4root did not work for me. SuperOneClick 1.9.5 worked like a charm.
super one click works for ec02. z4root works for dj11.
for super one click, you need the proper drivers. the usb doesn't always install the right drivers, so google for sch-i800 drivers.
I tried z4root before, and it did not work. I will have to try superoneclick.
Superoneclick worked for me as well. For the vzw tab you can install the drivers from the cdfs partition.
What drivers are you talking about? USB?

You only rooted, and didn't remove any apps?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133590
Yes i only rooted and didnt remove anything. I tryed to unroot using the same root method. Said it was unrooted, superuser isnt there anymore yet i still cant get the over the air update or anything. So i flashed a backup file and thats when it wouldnt boot up.

You will have to flash your stock rom. It's available here on xda. I recommend using a windows 7 pc and a program called odin3 1.7. Don't worry too much, there's lots of insructions. Read everything twice.
Whats up with superoneclick. It looks really simple but always hangs up on my gt.I have the sprint verion by the way.spmebody please point me in the right direction.rooting has never beem this hard.thank you

Google around... there is a prerooted GB rom floating around somewhere... I used it to initially root my tab. Was simple, hardest part was installing Samsung drivers on my computer... I believe it uses Odin and the flash takes less than 2 min depending on your computer, and presto rooted GB on a sprint tab

Ill try that tomorrow buddy thanx hope it works.wasted enough time with that whole one click mess.guess the update really did block something

Hi I was just wondering if you guys knew some cool stuff to do with a rooted phone. Is it possible to theme a stock ROM? Also what's the deal with overclocking and I/O scheduling? Thanks in advance
Sent from my SGH-I896 using XDA App
Yes you can theme a stock rom. And overclocking can only happen with a kernel that is ready to support it.
Keep reading, just make sure you build numbers match

Just keep in mind, that Tegrak will revert back to 1 Mhz once you reboot your phone.

So after I root my wifes captivate with super one click, I can install current nightly with google add on through Rom manager? She had an HTC aria running current nightly and I had to do it always through CWM. Which is not a problem. its because ROM manager didn't work with HTC arias. A little buggy here and there. But I heard its allot easier through ROM manager. But is it safe? Thxs guys.

rom manager is terrible on the galaxy s phones
Thanks. good to know. I'll be doing it from CWM then.
i am not knocking koush and all those involved with ROM manager. i bought the premium version for my other phones, and i love it, but i have to blame samsung and their method of recovery. rom manager just doesnt play well with galaxy s phones. it 'sort of' works once you have CM7 installed. again, its not rom managers fault, its the crappy recovery we have to deal with.
What would be the easiest way to theme a stock ROM? Things like notification pulldown, status bar, battery icons, lockscreen, etc.

find and read the million already written tutorials.read the new user guide.

oh and to your original question....
why in hell would you root if you dont know what to do with root?
that kind of methodology will end up giving you a 400$ paperweight.

ANY MODERATOR will tell you XDA is NOT a place to spoon feed babies.it is a community development forum FOR DEVELOPING. it is NOT a "help me do this" fourm.
xda is not a place to "make your phone cool" it is a place of learning and developing.
I rooted for several reasons. I just asked to see what other people were doing with their phones. Anyways, alright next time I'll just go post somewhere else where they hopefully don't mind "spoon feeding babies."

Personally, i stay away from ROM Manager, because CWM works better for me anyways, and i can guarantee that i know EXACTLY whats going on while its flashing...plus ROM Manager, like stated before, SUCKS on Galaxy S devices..
hi finally got the galaxy to connect to pc....used z4root...rooted...now clockwork..rom managers flashing it but when trying to boot into recovery or flash roms it looks the same it used to. the phones on froyo..
im htc user with roms etc this is my wifes galaxy so not so sure on some of the workarounds here or if ive done something wrong. its def rooted because superuser is working fine
