Thanks to all the Devs Out There - Nook Color General

I just wanted to say thanks to all of you Devs out there. I purchased 2 NC's for myself and my wife. One for my mother-in-law, 2 for my neighbors and one for a college buddy.
I have successfully installed the latest nightly CM7 with Dalingrin's AWESOME over clocked kernel. You all are all the freaking bomb. We all love the work you have done and it is awesome to have a REAL tablet, rather than that limited B7N software.
So FTW thank you all for your hard work, it is being greatly enjoyed by many people and your super skills have not gone unnoticed.
Keep up the great work and thanks again for the brain cells

Thank You

Well I have been reading/downloading/ installing a ton of stuff the last week or two and wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone that spends the time so the programming simple-tons can have the coolest stuff. I am currently running Black 2.0.2 and love it so much my wife just had to have it. I have added in other things to customize it the way I like it. Just wanted to say Great Job.

Yeah me to..BUT we have a OFF-TOPIC section for these kind of threads..!

I guess this is my goodbye too

well i got a hero today, so i guess this is a farewell of sorts.
i have been running this for a long time like 1.0 days and i have seen tons of faces come and go, and dev or not you all are awesome.
but i would like to thank all the devs past and present for making this kick so much ass.
i will still swing by often as my vogue will still be around.
thanks for everything
I hope you had a good time with us! Enjoy your new device!
best of luck in Hero-land. Make sure to check in with us from time to time.
congrats on the new phone. i got a hero and if you need any help man just pm me
This is my goodbye as well, got my evo when it was released and have been thrilled with it. I do miss my vogue and you guys though.

Thank you DZO (Martin) for all your hard work

For anyone who doesn't know. DZO is the reason we have android on the vogue period.. End of sentance.
Yeah there's been others of us who have ported builds and so on, but the simple truth of the matter is it wouldn't have happened without Martin.
He's an amazingly generous person who's helped all of us extend our vogues way longer than we ever would have. He's poured countless hours of developing and debugging into this project, because of him we had a functional froyo build before most other phones were even thinking about getting official builds.
For those of you who don't know DZO will be moving on from vogue developement soon as his provider is discontinuing the baseband that the vogue used.
I propose we all show Martin our thanks and appreciation for everything he's done for us.
I've just donated 4.55USD. (confirmation 44522221AF351025K) I know its not much, but it's all I have in my paypal and can afford right now. I propose we all give just a little, show our appreciation and send Martin off the way he deserves! Post here whatever you donate, even if it's just a dollar, its about showing our appreciation.
Thanks again Martin! You are what every project needs!
And if NZ has milestones, I hope you get one I'd love to continue to work with you.

Yes, DZO is incredible!
Just donate me too 8€ (8DK842408Y0358827) (equal to 10USD).
Hey Don't give to Dzo a milestone!!! ... He needs to work on his Vogue!!! .... isn't it.. I'm joking
thanks again
I must say that without dzo and this android project I would have never attempted to write a program. My NBH Editor is the first time I've ever messed with any type of programming, and I have dzo to thank for that. Nobody has donated to me and I'm totally fine with that because I get excited seeing almost 1000 downloads of something that I created. I know dzo feels the same way, not really looking for donations but just the joy in doing something that a community loves. Regardless, I think dzo deserves at least a little bit of compensation for all of his hard work.

Thank you for pouring yourself into the Vogue.
Thank you dzo for everything you've done for this community. I've had so much fun being apart of it. You are truly an inspiration to me and countless others. You are the main reason I've never taken a donation from this project. Because if there is anyone that deserves it then its you. You are the reason I still keep my vogue. I showed my seven year old son the video and slides you did documenting this great accomplishment and hopefully inspired a future developer. I am truly grateful for all that you have givin us. I pledge $20 u.s. dollars to help pay for your next phone. Good luck my friend I wouldn't be doing what I love if it wasn't for you.
Not that I have a Vogue but his work also covers Kaiser (and Polaris) and so here's $10 from me.

mssmison -- thanks for starting this thread, I think that the fact that dzo has been doing this for so long without (to my knowledge) ever asking for pats on the back or any other kind of thanks meant that he loved to do it. That said, in retrospect, someone needed to do exactly this, and thanks for doing so.
Noooooooooooo
Dzo, if we donate enough, will you consider moving to the states where your Vogue still works?
I just added my donation to the pile.
Thanks for all your efforts.
Thanks for everything dzo!

I also want to say thanks for all your great work.
I know what you're thinking, "Hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort"
Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness. So you've got that goin' for you, which is nice.
Many thanks Dzo, I said a while ago I would pay for getting Bluetooth working on my Kaiser, we here ya go. I had a six hour ride yesterday to a customers site, I was able to stream comedy and music to my Bluetooth and then to my radio for the entire ride.
Sweeet!
Thanks.
PS. Paypal contrib is on the way.
Thank you and again and again...
I think you're the best DZO : I've done before for all your very good works
Thank you very much again, because now I've a new phone !!
Have a good day and another's...
Cheers.
Many many thanks for your hard work to give second live for our phones. I had kaiser, but now with your work (kernel and froyo) I have KAISER.

Dzo, you need to tell us what phone you buy, so we can all follow you once our Vogue's eventually go belly up
Thanks to DZO (and others) I spent more time in bed with my kaiser than my girlfriend
It also enabled my first steps into Android programming.
You have to learn it on an old bike and DZO keeps them in mint condition
Just a symbolic donation (91W25880AB312705D) for Martin, the living legend
Thanks mate, for all the efforts!
Please tell us what your next xda will be.

I could really use some help [Update] Thank you all!

As some of you may know, I'm responsible for the Superuser app that is found on nearly every rooted android phone these days. I've been working on version 3.0 for some time now, but progress has been really slow since I got military orders to move to the UK. Well, I've already moved over here, but my wife and kids had to stay behind due to the State Department really dropping the ball on their passports. The problem has been fixed but they're still back in the states. The military will pay for their plane tickets but there are other expenses involved that they aren't covering, like me having to rent a van to get her from the airport. The problem is that we're between paychecks and money doesn't go too far when you're supporting two households. We get paid again on the first, but that's still a ways away...
Point is I'd love to be able to get her over here sooner, but I need some help. If you can spare anything, Me and the wife and kids would be extremely grateful. Plus the sooner she gets here, the sooner I can get back to developing and get Superuser 3.0 out.
There's a donate link by my name on the left, and one in my signature. Anything you can give would be great. Thanks!
** Update **
In the course of less than 24 hours you guys have donated more than $700 to my family. It's overwhelming to see a community so strong and willing to help. Thank you all so much. I really hope that someday we get the opportunity to give back. If you still feel compelled to donate, I won't stop you, but I'm pretty sure we've gotten what we need to make this transition a lot easier. Thank you again!
Come on guys! We ALL use SuperUser!! Whats a couple of bucks?? Being a veteran myself, I know what this can be like. I know a few of you have been there yourselves.
 It's a really good way to say thank you.
Getting a great response so far. Thanks for everybody's help!
Wish I could afford more mate. If I had it, I'd pay the lot. I've give what I can on my meagre salary.

Why the nook forum is a good place to call home.

I just wanted to say how nice it is here in the Nook Color forums. Sometimes I wonder around other forums on xda, and I see so much hostility. I know this place used to be so cool. Before the wave of newbs. He'll, I am one of them. I just got my first android back in Jan. Now I am a full blown flashaholic. What I am getting at is, SORRY from all the newbs, all the stupid questions, and the shear size of the wave. And thanks, because of all the genius here, you caused the wave. Thanks to all of the authors, and cooks here in this forum. I have had very few problems, and when I did, people here were nice enough to help. The development here is awesome. Though the pool is smaller, I would rather have a nook than (insert device here).
Sent from my Optimized Shift using XDA App
I don't have to pay a data plan for the nook. That alone would cool me off. Especially Verizon's new data plan.
We are grandfathered in, just don't upgrade, and buy your phones outright. You will save money in the long run......
Sent from my Optimized Shift using XDA App
I second that - thanks to these forums, the nook color I bought on Saturday is now running CM7, overclocked, and netflix. Unfortunately I'll probably ask for more
I agree, the Nook Color section on XDA seems pleasant. I'm rather new to Android, having only owned my phone for a few months and my Nook for about half of one. I've been hanging out in the Atrix forums since thats what I own phone wise, and half the threads are complainers who hate their phones or dont fully understand the concept of donations asking why more isn't getting done. It gets tiring rather fast.
When I bought my nook, one of the big factors that made me decide on that tablet was seeing how peaceful by comparison the Nook community is.
I agree. Although I can't seem to find a thread "home". I have a rooted evo, have flashed several themes, mods, etc on that for nearly a year now. But I still feel like a newb here because the process is somewhat different. I've treid reading how to dual boot, TRIED to dual boot - nothing happened. Just happy I didn't screw the thing up with all the zip files on my sd card Tried to get netflix working....no go. People are very kind when I ask a question but I don't understand what language they are speaking in. I am used to "download, wipe cache, flash, boot". This adb, emmc, yadda yadda...I don't get yet.
BUT I do have a gorgeous NC that is really fast, very stable, and performs beautifully.
I also appreciate the atmosphere here. I knew nothing about android mods prior to owning my NC and now I've got it screaming fast and playing N64 games. This community has been super helpful though I've rarely sought out advise directly. I'm mostly a lurker. Messing with my nook has given me the confidence to jack around with my Thunderbolt. The TBolt forums are super helpful, but there is certainly a lot more trash talking and whatnot going on there. Thanks to all of you Nook peeps out there for keeping this forum courteous as well as useful.
I'd like to say thanks too. Not trying to be a fan boy or a sycophant kiss-up, but I'm really amazed the amount of Android intelligence the people have on this forum.
I got my nook color for the cheap tablet possibilities and have learned a ton here, appreciating everyone's politeness and knowledge and efforts. I didn't realize how much I visited until I looked at my net filter's stats for this place - I've clicked in around 900 times at XDA!
Jesus I am sorry to say this, but if I read the good book as much as I read xda forums, all my friends would be drinking for free....: p
Sent from my Optimized Shift using XDA App
I started hanging out at xda when I got my HD2 and wanted to do more than run WinMo on it. I've been hanging out in the NC forums since I bought my NC on Christmas Eve. I have learned so much! And done so much on my NC that never would have happened without xda. My friends are amazed when I tell/show them what it does. They think I'm a genius. I tell them I'm not smart, but there are a lot of smart people at xda who are willing to share their genius with the rest of us. Thanks to everyone who makes this possible.
Rooted NC running CM7 + my rooted/sd Android HD2 phone makes for a great overall Android experience!
And I tell people that if this 52 year old grandma can do it - anyone can!
