[Q] Problems with WIFI, failure to initialize - LG Optimus 2x

Hi
Just yesterday i started having trouble with nmy wifi...
When activating it it fails to engage...
Im on v10c 0606, anyone else had this problem?
To rectify i have to restart the phone. then it works until i turn wifi off again..

I occasionally have the same problem, and yet to find a solution. I just put it down to LG's crappy software and general incompetence. Hopefully an update will fix it, if we ever get one.

Me too. The WiFi wouldn't initialize and if I went to WiFi settings, the message 'Error' was under the enabled check-box. Only reboot helped.

I've been having the same problems since a couple of weeks after I got the phone, I even tried a reset and didn't install any apps, but it didn't help. After about 2 days of "uptime" my wifi stops working, have to turn phone off and on again to get it working. I got the C upgrade yesterday, it's still working, I guess I will get the answer over the weekend.

You got the 622 update?

I installed to 10c 622 upgrade yesterday, got it with the upgrade option on the phone. I bught my phone without subscription from Elkjøp, and have Telenor business.

Losing data connection (NOT wifi but HSPDA, EDGE...)

This is about all the data connection through the MOBILE provider, so not WIFI.
It is after x time when the phone is on. Maybe it is GPS related.
But bottomnline: the icon with the H or the E(dge) is there and it is even flashing for data, however every app stats there is no connection to the network.
After a reboot all is fine.
Other persons are also experiencing this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=675786&highlight=huuub
I am using cyanogens latest with one of pershoots latest, but other kernels show the same behaviour.
My guess is that everyone has this problem? Is this a bug somewhere?
This happensto mine as well. I just switch in and out of flight mode to fix it.

So why make a new thread if you've already found one that fits your problem?

This is a carrier issue. Not the Rom. trust me.
I have not that impression. Why do you?

Oh, ok, I should trust you. If you hadn't told me to trust you, I wouldn't have, but now that you did tell me, I do.
I think it's a software issue, as do many other people. Never had this problem with tmobile on any other phone.
Oh, I almost forgot: trust me.
Does anyone here notice it seems to get lost after leaving a wifi connection? Like this bug?

I have the same problem, im using modaco CM mod 5.0.6
I don't remember to have this problem with modaco desire/nexus Rom

I've experienced this more frequently on Cyanogen roms vs. Modaco's.
really a bug ?
ok guys, I am completely in a stock 2.1 rom .. no mods whatsoever and not rooted as well .. to get this problem, use wi-fi for a while(5mins example) and then disable it .. then use ur gprs/edge and see if it works.. the small E logo will show and the upstream arrow will glow white but downstream arrow will stay dark gray.. both should glow white when accessing the net but it doesn't after using wi fi .. this is really pissing me off having to restart my phone everytime this happens and I use both wi fi and gprs for everyday use .. can someone check to see if this problem is persistent ? thanks ..
Juicedefender is the cause
Ok, I figured out what was causing these problems. And I found out that after uninstaling Juicedefender my Cell connection returns. Anyway Juicedefender didn't seem to do so much for me anyway. (on the contrary I believe)
Can anybody confirm?

[Q] wifi keeps switching on and off

Hey all,
since a couple of days I have a problem with my wifi, it keeps switching on and off (I can see the checkbox activating and deactivating, every couple of seconds, at the moment it is unchecked and says "error")
as I said, the wifi worked before
I am running cyanogen 7 (http://android.doshaska.net/cm7) on Milestone
- But I have also tried MIUI, with the same problem
does issue sound familiar to anyone?
Maybe it is an app which force turns my wifi on/off, is there any way to check which one it is (as far as I know I don't have an of them, eg juice defender, tasker installed)
Many thanks
Have you tried other WiFi networks? Because the same error being reproduced across two different ROMs seems a little unlikely.
Well, the problem is that my wifi doesn't stay on long enough (just a couple of seconds) to scan/connect to any network.

So it isn't a problem connecting to a network, it's a problem of the wifi not even being able to turn on?
Well "technically" it does turn on, but it switches off immediately

wow, i just logged in to search for this issue myself. I have that same issue across multiple roms also. The one that did work was the Telus Lite Eclair. I liked that one, but of course I wanted to check out others. Each one was the same as you describe. Wifi scans, disconnects, scans, in a loop.
I have done searches on google for wifi disconnect loop android, and seen some stuff about kernals and stuff that is over my head at the moment. If some one has an idea on how to get it working that would be great.
I wipe before any install, I've went back to stock and it works, everytime I went to the Telus Lite one it also always worked. I dont know if theres a clue there or not?
Im on an Telus milestone in Canada, on Telus network if that makes a difference.
And since I think this is my first real post, Thanks for the work guys.
Not sure if this would work, but this is the first result that popped up: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/koush/75782-wifi-disconnect-loop-cm6-final.html
EDIT: People are saying that Hidden SSIDs and MAC filtering can cause problems when trying to connect to the WiFi network. Try forgetting the network, making the network visible(protected if you wish) and reboot the phone and try again.
ok, time for a stupid question...
where do I find suitable kernels?
I can't find anything about this (roms and kernel tweaking is a is pretty well documented though)

As far as I know, you won't be able to change the kernel on the Milestone at all, due to the locked bootloader.

a little update, I checked my settings on my router and there was nothing really out of place. For poops and giggles I installed Shawdowmod, and it works with out issue with my wifi. Go figure. Anyway, think im keeping it.
Thanks for the help.
hmmm, good to hear you figured it out.
I just went back to stock and guess what? still nothing
maybe I'll try that rom and see

Internet just cuts off sometimes

I think I made this topic before.
Sometimes the 4G internet just stops working. I will be loading and a page and I can't open up anything else.
Turning the browser off and back on does not fix it.
Switching to 2G network does not fix it.
This only applies to my 4G from Rogers. I am in Canada and usually this can happen in a general location. I was with my friend yesterday and his internet was still fine (different phone NOT WIRELESS).
Usually I can fix it by turning the phone on and off, but that takes a few minutes.
Is my phone defect or something?
so I am the only one with this issue?
It has happened to mine but only a couple of times. Running V20P, but my borwser crashes all the time

Happens to me all the time.
Happens to me too): can't wait for a new phone.

so it must be a problem with the Thrill then.
I don't use root anymore or custom ROMs.
This is stock Rogers gingerbread upgrade with LG updater.
Even before on froyo 2.2.2 I had this problem once in a while.

the same problem i have with bluetooth, i can't detect nothing, computer see it but when i try to connect tell me that phone is not in range, and other thing, is i can't use my bluetooth headset anymore.
there is a posibility to make something a test of bluetooth?
Did you try using a stock ROM flashed from Smart Flash Tool? If the problem persists then it's hardware related and you have to send it in for repairs. You might have to pay for your service since they might not do it under warranty if it was dropped.
ier overtixp
i made a full wipe and after that again with a reflash, now works fine
thanks
My phone cant detect any wifi too, my other phone can.
Did a full wipe and restocked. Did not fix the prob. I sent it back

[Q] Update breaking Google Search (voice)

Has anyone been having issues with Google Voice Search since updating it from the Play store?? I thought it was initially due to a MOD that I had put on, but even after flashing the phone and updating Google Search from a clean install (stock, no root), the problem still remains. Voice Search appears to be broken in everything that uses it, even Google Translate, it just crashes whenever I press the voice key. Running the latest firmware 10.1.A.1.434.
It works fine when I uninstall the update from within the Apps list, but it means I lose the widget, which I find handy. Any help much appreciated as I just can't put my finger on it and not read of anyone else having this issue. Thanks.
Im on UK .434 and just tested it by asking it the time, worked perfectly
I also have similar problems.
It works fine initially but then will suddenly stop working. I press to voice search and it goes straigh to a message like "sorry I didn't catch that" and hitting retry doesn't work.
If i then clear data for google search it works for a short time again then breaks.
Working fine with the update uninstalled. Also read of a few others with the same problem.

Weird, also on UK .434. It's not a great show stopper, as I can get round it by uninstalling the update, but it's just bugging me, like an itch that I can't scratch!

Ahhhh, so it's not just me then, thank god for that!
Same for me. I hope Sony win't be as long as they used to be to fix that issue...
This is still an issue. Has anyone come across a fix for this yet?

Hasn't worked for months for me, thought ut was just my phone or chappy network provider. Doesn't work on wifi either though.

Weird how it's only a few of us that seem to be having the issue.

I had this issue on fw 434, 253 and 307. I updated to 4.2.2 last week end and google search is now working.
So the good news is that when 4.2.2 will be officially available, the bug will be most probably fixed
Same problem here on 307.
Worked the other day for a bit then stopped again???

Yup... Installed the lastest update from Sony .. No more google (most of the time)
