Hello
I 've updated my SGS to the official Gingerbread released via Kies for Italy, which is RSJV3, i need to root it to be able to use my backup (done with Titanium backup). AFAIK Super one click is not working with Gingerbread so I looked at CF-Root, which has a ton of versions, which is is right one for me?
Thanks in advance for any reply
Same problem here.
It looks like gingerbreak and psnuter don't work with v. 2.3.3 and we have to wait for a new release of cf-root supporting JV3

Hi all
finally i am on an official 2.3.3 JV6 rom
now i feel its lagging abit
i used voodoo lagfix on my previous rom
now i am searching for any lagfix or kernal (with root)
for my mobile (JV6)
please can anyone help me which one to use
Thanks in advance
Look in Android Development subforum here. You'll find custom kernels to do what you want.
eg. SpeedMOD, FuguMOD, etc.
which one do you prefer for the JV6?
Just want to know you opinion

Today's GB rom is smooth enough, no lagfix is needed.
If you need ext4, the famous Voodoo or Speedmod also is the solution for you.

Hello i'm new here in this forum and new in the flashing/modifying world..it is my first time to flash my galaxy s -19000 using odin..and it is successfull
i'm on JVQ stock firmware now..thank GOD i can use my phone without lag
i only rooted my phone once using super one click and i did not add any mod after that because im so scared to flash it because back then i dont have the 3button combo recovery/download mode..i fix that with the help of adb..and that gave me the confidence to flash my phone now,.
my problem now is how to root this JVQ ROM because i need to restore my apps using titanium backup and it requires root access..
any method or guide is very much appreciated..thanks

I gave you root instruction based on your private message question, didn't you succeed?
can you pm on how to root it. i lost my root when i was messing around. i have the Ramad`s version of jvq now.
yay hmmm i'm a little hesitated to root it for now because i'm still checking the other users of jvq for there feedback about this rom...maybe i'll just wait for a while until the official firmware JVQ is release.. so far i'm happy with the stock rom..no problem minimal FC.. compared to FROYO 2.2 which is my older ROm this JVQ ROM is 10x faster..so far no lag..some of my problem right now is my old applications like asphalt and dictionary its not functioning it said file is corrupted..maybe because i installed titanium backup and my old application is not yet restored then i try to reinstalled it again from the market..and is not working properly so far the asphalt and dictionary only i haven't tried the other apps..
seems one of the most common problems with cf-root is that there is a bluetooth and/or wifi issue. I was hoping that the Gingerbreak APK would work on my stock JVQ, but it refuses to do anything (hangs on running exploit and then just disappears)...
Easuest and in my opinion safest way is. Use CF Root. Just search it on XDA. Look for the right version (XXJVQ is right on the bottom) then unzip the file. Open odin. Click PDA and find the kernel. Then out ur phone in download mode and start. It takes literally 10 seconds as kernels flash quikly. MAKE SURE THAT REPARTION IS NOT TICKED.... Hope that helped

So a friend of mine updated his p1010 to the official Gingerbread following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410035 but the instructions in the guide says that root comes with CWM in the second post...
I would just like to confirm if this is true since it goes against the procedure I went through with my Optimus One (root first, then install CWM, then install roms). I don't see where root access can be gained in the guide above.
And i think GB cannot be rooted with z4root so how do you root an official p1010 on gingerbread? Could it have been possible to root with z4root, install CWM, then flash a rom already on GB with no other changes?
See if THIS answers any of your questions
Yeah that guide only talks about z4root which is part of my question...
Does z4root even work for Gingerbread? My experience in the past with GB and z4root makes me say no... So what else can I do to root a stock GB Galaxy Tab p1010?
You didn't look far enough. That thread contains ALL the information you need. I wrote it based upon my experience and I am running the GB KPI firmware which is most certainly ROOTED.

Hi, i was going to update my SGS to firmware 2.3.6 xxjw4 from 2.3.5 xxjvt (via kies) and was wondering if the semaphore jvt_1.9.1 kernel would be ok or is there a better or specific one?? Thx
I flashed 2.3.6 with the latest semaphore kernel(2.5) and it went well.you should be okay
Well yeah it would work, but I don't see why you'd stick to gingerbread or any stock rom while you can try custom ICS Rom ... my SGS is rocking one of those now and it's totally great
Thx
Updated it and works well...but now in the process of installing ICS so thx for the help
Hi All,
Im thinking of rooting my Samsung Galaxy s3 4G and need some help before is start.
I was going to use this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1914394&highlight=i9305.
But after watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhSSmdqAXRM&feature=player_embedded i notice there are more options which may be easier.
Can someone please guide me so i dont mess my phone up?
Also where can i find the original firmware incase i need to reflash for warranty?
I also read that i need to backup my iemi but am unsure how i do this?
Cheers
You can download the firmwares via sammobile or via Samsung kies
I advise installing CWM ClockWork Recovery with Odin then flashing a custom ROM

I would advise doing this first...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1946915
Then root via this method =) (there are known problems with the 6.XXX touch recovery)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1914394
You now have root!
Then if you want the latest version straight from Samsung (4.1.2) flash this through CWM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2066767
Hope that helps =)
I was thinking of using the toolbox and hoping it was an all in one application.
Im really really new to Android.
Autoroot with stock recovery and mobile odin works best for me. I'm a noob too. Have flashed perseus kernal and pandoriams latest 4.1.2 and works great
