Just found an excellent case for dell streak

Hi
Just thought i would let you know about a case for the streak that i found ,it is a portable hard drive case such as the one below for the Dell Streak. I paid less than £5 for mine and the Streak fits perfectly, even with the 'form-fit case' attached. There is also room in the case for the data cable.

It seems like a box to me
Too big for my taste.

Heh heh, I know these cost alot to replace but crikey......how are you expected to answer the thing when it rang......sorry I missed your call I couldn't get it out of the extra wrapping nor the force field and cotton wool fast enough.
I've probably just jinxed myself now with a broken screen tomorrow

bluetooth, it's a great invention
Fair point, I tight bluetooth had gone out of fashion, I barely use it. I must be one of the few peeps that uses this phone like a normal phone.

I do as well, (and it doesn't look big on me) but when cycling I don't really fancy holding it up to my ear so I use a really nice bluetooth headset with stereo buds so I can listen to music, the nice lady from google mytracks, and answer calls)..
and the streak goes in a neat case (not that dissimilar to those posted except it was from aldi for sports sunglasses) and into my bag..
bluetooth trouble
i'm new to my DS and i've troubled by the bluetooth connection. i've already 'paired but still not connected' with other device. i've installed the support software from the market but still it won't worked. so frustrating just by the bluetooth. any suggest, anyone?

For travelling on long journeys I use a Case Logic hard drive case
http://www.caselogic.com/compact_portable_hard_drive_case/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=80400
the Streak fits perfectly in the bottom under the elastic band and in the top lid behind the netting I keep headphones, cleaning cloth, spare SD cards etc.
I can throw the case into my travelling bag without fear of damage.
Actually the OP's case looks the same and at a fraction of the price so that is a good find.

Custom Car Kit

Looks like the custom ones are starting to appear not a bad Price at £15.99
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FLEXIBLE-SUCT...K_AudioTVElectronics_PDAAccessories_PDAMounts
And £13.99 for the Vent kit
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SWIVEL-CAR-AI...K_AudioTVElectronics_PDAAccessories_PDAMounts
Hmm, Pre-order and the pictures are faked (charging lead plugging in the left hand side?). Best wait till after their September due date and check again, it looks like it will be a nice solution if it arrives.
I bought a universal car dock from ebay and whilst the phone fits (kind of) the streak is just so damn heavy it shakes about A LOT. It's usable, but very irritating.
Not sure what these 2 will be like though, but watch out for shaking
saving seller for future use.
Now they are on i am sure their will be more to follow ie China
ah, the chinese. good food, attractive women, cheaply made, cheaply priced inferior products we just cant resist. gotta love em
Yep that is all True and Yep We never Learn and we BUY BUY BUY dont we just love em
Considering the car docking kit from Dell is perfect, I don't see why anyone would consider a third party car station.

Sure... aside from the over-inflated price. I bought mine from a local Wireless Wave here in Toronto and it works just as well for $20 taxes in.
Dell car kit far from perfect
I bought the car kit from Dell, and no matter whether the device is hanging from the windshield or off the dash, the Streak bounces around like mad when I am driving. My car is nowhere NEAR that bad - it is a heavy device and an awkward mount.
I just ordered a GPS t-mount from ProClip that might work well. I will take the sleeve the Streak sits in on the gooseneck and mount that on the ProClip mount, then attach that to the vehicle mount made for my car. That should lock the device down.
It's an expensive solution, but I spend about an hour each way commuting daily, so it is really a necessity for me. My mount should be here on Wednesday, and if anyone is interested I will write it up and post a picture or two if it works.
pictures would be awesome.
Do you see anyway to have the adapter attached (jerry-rigged) to the mount so that it plugs in when you insert the Streak?
I am looking for a way, as plugging the cable in is extremely tempermental, and a pain, to be honest!!
I suppose you could do something on the bottom of the Dell sleeve to hold the cable. I will have my cable secured on the console and the mount, so it is no problem for me to plug it in the bottom of the phone when I put it in the stand.
The mount comes in tomorrow. Can't wait. Had to slam on the brakes on the way home today and it looked like my phone was on the business end of a trebuchet...

In the US it is only 39.99.... not too expensive if you ask me. Plus this car docking kit really is perfect for the Streak. The sides are flexible rubber that hold the Streak and on the back there are rubber pads so absolutely no plastic is touching the Streak resulting in no scratches. Plus you get a a cable with it.
Perfection is worth the 40 bucks. Although I would love to see images of the one you purchased and seem pleased with.
I have the Dell car kit and I like it. It seems reasonably priced at $40 since it comes with a cigar lighter-USB adapter and USB cable as separate items. One can never have too many charging cables or options. The mount does jiggle a bit however this can be cured by positioning the mount so the cradle rests on top of the dash rather than suspended in mid-air.

I'm looking to use the dell case inners for a car holder. I have some garmin mounts that will allow me to fix to the dash.
The issue with the ones from ebay (original post) the holding part is covering the power pdmi connector.

Anyone thinking of making their own car mount should make clearance for the camera lens so it can be used as a dash-cam. Dell did not do this and it would require some cutting on their kit.

I acutally brought one of these:
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/clingo-universal-in-car-holder-p25398.htm
The arm is solid but since it still sticks out a fair bit and the phone is kinda heavy, it does bounce a little (nothing compared to the flexi arms you find on most other phone holders). And since the Dell has a flat back, it sticks pretty well too (though I have had it drop once but I think that was cos my brother didn't put it on properly and due to the weight, it slowly peeled itself off). The pad only covers a small area of the back of the phone so you can use the camera, and there's also no clamps that would obscure the charging port or the buttons on top.
If the docking station was cheaper, I'd seriously consider getting another one for the car, that way I can easily put it on and take it off with super easy and I can leave the cable plugged in and just tuck it away (saves so much time when I do multiple deliveries and stuff).

I've seen the Dell car mount kit, and it seems to have a snugg fit to the dell.
my question is... can you use it with a case over the Dell, something like the form fit case from Dell.

Car Holder

So i have my streak now and since i love it im going to get some things like a car holder for gps, now im wondering about the official dell holder or the ones that work with the otterbox cases?
Currently i dont have a case and would eventually like to get one, so recommendations for a case as well would be nice. Moving on i know the dell made holder is a nice fit and was wondering if i get that and decide to get a case will it still fit or no? It would suck to have to remove the case everytime i want to place the phone in the "dell" holder??
Thanks
Nowadays you'd buy the official Dell accessories only if you had more money than sense as there are equally as good versions out there for much less.
You mention the Otterbox, that's a good piece of kit and if you get that obviously you want a car mount that works with it.
I used this item.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004AQCXI2
If the link does not show up, search Gomadic Dell streak vent car mount.
I used it in my civic si sedan on the vent, and it's great. Some caveat though. Read the reviews and you'll know. It also fits other phones if need be.
I don't think the normal Dell mount will work with the Otterbox case, it's a pretty tight fit without a case. The Dell mount works well, and isn't that expensive. I have more time than money but bought the dell mount because it was guaranteed to work with the Streak and I liked the fact I could rotate the phone from landscape to portrait.
Mike.
Thanks for the input guys

That one on amazon is nice but the this i would like is to be able to rotate... The ones that work with the otterbox are 39 bucks and the dell one is 39 so i just need to decide do i need or want a case...
What do you think about the window mount adjustable ones? Im just worried since most only secure on 3 sides it can bounce out??? Any know ones that are nice and can rotate 360 and are decent prices?
Thanks
i am using proclip~~ the holder can be adjusted so that it can fit my HD2(with or without case) and streak(with or without case), of course it is expensive, but it really worth for money
Buy original products
Hello
first of all - i am very happy bout my Streak (before HTC Leo)...
I paid 400€ and bought the original CarCradlekit (used like new) for 40€ and (used like new) for 20€ the FormFitCase. The Streak with the case fits perfect in the carcradle - its partiallly made with rubber!
As next i would by the DockingStation for home use - here is the FormFitCase perfect, because u can fold away the backside and it also fits perfect without putting the streak out from the case!! (Pic.3)...
I'm tired to use products that fit not perfect to a perfect device
so hope its helpful for someone here ....

Home HDMI dock in a car.....

Well, I've been thinking about this for a while, and I was hoping to get some feedback.
I've just purchased a Dell Streak (7) home dock. I was wondering, if the Dell Streak (5) can fit on this dock in such a way, that it would remain stable if placed in a car.
I've seen the Car dock, and I'm not that impressed. And as far as I can tell, I'd need to plug in a jack in the headphone port, to get sound thru the car.
With the Home dock, it'd look neat, I could get a HDMI audio adapter, and a USB hub that's powered from 12v (mp3car.com).
So, mainly, I'm asking how firmly does a Dell streak sit in the Home dock?
THanks in advance.
-B
also...will the USB port power the dock? are there any holes in my plan?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
I would say the biggest hole in your plan is the risk of damaging the pdmi socket on your streak, thus rendering it totally useless - it just doesn't have enough support.
My Streak sits tightly in its' 5 dock, but not tightly enough that I'd trust it on a bumpy car ride.
well...that sucks. thanks for the input. ill figure something out I'm sure

Streak car cradle / dock

I've just made the switch from iphone and need a new cradle and fm transmitter for GPS navigation in the car.
One slight complication is that I have just ordered a Otterbox defender case which going off the iphone version is quite big. I had this problem with the iphone and the solution was to buy a generic / universal cradle that can be adjusted to the otterbox dimensions. The Streak however has a the charging dock in an unconventional position which means most holders obstruct the port with the clamp. Therefore I am on the look out for a case which with the following capabilities:
1. Fits the dimensions of the Streak + Defender Case
2. Keeps the charging port free
3. Keeps the audio jack free so that I can use something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360367214309&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
I have found a couple on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320689815218&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Do you guys think one of these will be ok or do you know of any better solutions?
Thanks
I have the one you posted in your first link and all my cables fit just fine. Hope his helps
I have purchased one called (ClipSlip) or something like that. You should have Otterbox impact. If you could not find I will share the link later.

Heres another one i have in transit now for my kayak, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190482313896&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
I only need the holder for the kayak so i can use my navionics on the ponds and lakes, i have the mount already mounted in the yak and use the fitted holder out of my car when i need to.
Just google SlipGrip for dell streak with Otter Impact.
Thanks for the advice. I went for the 1st link in the end. The slipgrip looked really cool but decided a universl one is more versatile e.g. sometimes my girlfriend puts her iphone in the cradle.
Cheers
