Hey guys, I am soon going to flash my i9000 and i am preparing ahead. I am currently on Orange so i am looking for an Orange stock rom to flash back to if i ever need to. I have looked around but i cannot find one. On samfirmwares it just has provider roms and i dont know which ones is Orange. I am currently on 2.2.1, although it doesnt matter if i am flashing.
Thanks in advance
Just flash a kernel that gives you root and CWM and make a NANDROID-backup.
BTW: I'm looking for the firmware of the Austrian provider '3', anybody has that?
Instead of doing a CWM, use CheckFus Downloader for REAL stock ROM : http://fus.nanzen.se/

Hi, I want to install darkys rom
to do this, i need to install cwm, which looks quite easy to do.
But i need to know how to uninstall it because i dont want to void my phones warranty.
So, can you please help me, how to uninstall Clockworkmod recovery and go back to original recovery (2e) ?
I think you're missing something. I'm sure that installing that custom ROM will void your warranty. I don't know which version of Darkys you're looking at but I expect it includes root acces, likely includes Clockwork Recovery and likely also includes a custom kernel.
What I do (and I think most people who play around with custom ROMs) is install whatever app is needed / wanted. If something goes bust with your phone, you should in most scenarios still be able to flash back a stock firmware and submit it for service. That's exactly what I've done on two occasions (my service issues weren't a result of my flashing) and what I know many others have done.
Good luck.
gtg2,
i know i am installing a rom will void my warranty.
what i can do is, i can flash an official samsung i9000 rom, back to my phone.
but will it also uninstall clockworkmod recovery? or should i do something special?
install samsung firmware with odin, and then go to kies and update the firmware?
how can i go back to official recovery, mine was "recovery 2e" ??????

It's unclear from your messages whether you're still running the original firmware or have upgraded already. If you're on the original, enter *#1234# in your phone's dialpad and post back here what it reports under PDA. Using that, you can find your original firmware for Android 2.1 on http://samfirmware.com and flash it to go back to stock and recovery 2e when you're through playing with a custom ROM. If you're not running your original firmware, you'll need to figure out what your original firmware was (I don' t know what it would have been for your area).
Do you know how to use ODIN to flash firmwares? If not, read up on the reference guide for our phone. I've found it very helpful.

Good luck.
hey Gtg2,
First off, thank you for your helps.
I am sorry i couldnt make it clear, i hope i do now:
I am on custom rom now (Darkys 8.0 rom).
I am new to this and this is my 5th day with my galaxy, i bought it as second hand and 22months more guarantee i had.
I need to know how to go back to original rom and recovery because just incase. If i bring my phone now (with custom rom and cwm recovery) then the service will say your phone is out of warranty. So, i need to know how to go back to make everything original.
I noted my phones codes, here they are:
pda: i9000jvjh1
phone: i9000jxjg2
csc: i9000trcji1
When installing the custom rom, i didnt make a nandroid backup because i already found one in the net. So, i dont have nandroid backup too.
I never used odin nor samfirmware (as i couldnt find anything same with my phones codes there (pda: i9000jvjh1, phone: i9000jxjg2, csc: i9000trcji1 - it was 2.1 Eclair).
I can find a laptop to use odin anytime tho (i am a mac user).
So, as i understand from your post; if i find my stock firmware (dont know where i can) and install it via odin then everything will be original (cwm recovery will gone and recovery 2e will come back) ?????
A friend of mine (not so technical person tho) said that i should use nandroid to back to original firmware then use kies to install newer firmware (downgrade to 2.1 then upgrade to 2.2.1). Should i do this????
just i need to know the process... sorry for long msg.
Thank you...
You wont find the branded firmware that came with your phone unless you have a copy .
Simplest will be to use Odin to flash to an older version Eclair .
Then use the Kies registry hack to upgrade to current software from your provider that will be branded .It would not matter if clockwork was on as its a legitimate product .

Hi Guys
New here so please be gentle...
I have a stock Telstra Samsung i9000T with Eclair 2.1 update 1 firmware and I'm wanting to flash to a new ROM from Doc's Kitchen. I currently have confirmed recovery and download (2e) but was told I need to gain 3e recovery and download before flashing to my new ROM. I have rooted the phone and backed up everything including /efs folder. My question is this: Can I use the latest SpeedMod Froyo K13B kernel to gain 3e recovery and download or is it exclusively for Froyo ROMs only - not my Eclair?
Matthew
do you think you could do me a favour first please mate?
i am in desperate need of the telstra ROM, could you enter recovery and make a backup of your ROM then upload it please
also, i dont think you can flash roms with 3e, you need 2e, you can use ODIN to flash speedmod kernal to get a really good one
thanks!
Certainly mate, I'll be sure to do that for you before I flash it this evening. This what I was told to do to get my new ROM on the phone:
1. z4root
2. mybackup root -> backup stuff
3. find sgs tools over at xda; it has a script in it to backup /efs (IMEI) for you
4. copy everything from /sdcard to PC (this will include the mybackup files and the efs backup created by sgs tools)
5. copy new rom .zip to sdcard
6. phone fully charged
7. install speedmod kernel as per http://touristinparadise.blogspot.com/2010/11/samsung-galaxy-s-how-to-install.html; see also http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822756 if you want more info or alternative downloads
8. sim & internal sd out if you are being paranoid
9. reboot into recovery; apply zip from sdcard, select zip -> select your cooked rom
10. first boot will take about 5 minutes
I'm currently at no. 6 in readiness for speedmod kernel
that would be good if you could do that, you would save my ass lol, i need it for warranty, telstra are cracking the ****s!
here is what i did.
if your 2.1.
root using z4root, download rom manager, install recovery mode, then apply the ROM you wish ( ps, after you have updated your stuff ofcourse )
i would be very thankful if you would get that telstra ROM for me, will greatfully buy you a beer!
Sure thing mate and thanks for the heads-up I'll send you a PM once I've gotten the 2.1 done.
thanks mate, appreciate it heaps!.
will be waiting patiently, then i can get my damn phone fixed, stupid internal memory shat itself

OK few pointers..
if all goes tits up, don't worry try these
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11470507&postcount=79
This is also from the same thread :-
2e was the first type of recovery screen and 3e is its replacement on a firmware upgrade to Froyo but it has limitations so you can't just flash update.zip in it and get it to work like on 2e. Though ClockworkMOD does work and once your in that you can do anything.
And maybe use the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=934409 to get a quicker answer, worked for me an others
Thank you so much guys I really appreciate the assistance
@ aussiesausage: I still haven't forgotten you mate, just getting the rugrats off to bed.
Edit: Links to Stock Telstra FW and CSC sent via PM
heh thankyou so very much dude!
phone is still stuffed, but now telstra will stop *****in at me

Any chance you could pass this onto me mate? I'm in a similar situation, i9000T speaker has died and of course Telstra aren't going to like repairing it without the original rom.
-SlimLegs
It would be much appreciated if you could also send me the link as well. I didnt make a back-up before i flashed my first ROM. Had a few scares flashing, so would like to keep a copy for an emergency
Hey PV5150, I was wondering if you would please be kind enough to also post a copy of your stock 2.1. I've been searching, and can't get my hands on a clean version.
any chance one of you guys could send me the file and i'll link it for all of us other poor buggers on telstra, has taken me ages to find someone who has it.
Yes please.
sorry to bring old hread up but has anyone got the links
i have been searching for ages
I would appreciate it if you could send me the link.
In the same situation had to buy another galaxy s telstra refused to repair because wasnt there ROM, i also need this 2.1 update ROM. Same issue as one of the other guys, internal memory card is bust. Love the phone couldnt find this rom anywhere so gave up and bought another phone lol
Hi guys, im new to the sgs, but got some android experience. I was wondering if i can backup the whole ROM/system from my sgs (running 2.2.1 but its kinda branded from my carrier), so that i can flash the latest 2.3.3 or even 2.3.4 with odin and if for any reason i have to take it into warranty, i can reflash (preferably with odin) the stock branded rom that came with my phone. I would really appreciate, if anyone can tell me that, i searched around but couldnt really find this specific question. ive checked the stock ROM thread, and my version is there but im not sure its the branded one, cuz mine says 2011.02 and the one there says december 2010.
As long as you are rooted and have clockwork mod installed you can do a nandroid backup from the recovery menu I believe.
To restore you would have to flash the same base rom though, i.e. any 2.2.1 ROM then let it reboot then root it boot into recovery and restore nandroid backup.
I think that should work.
I'm sure someone wil correct me if I am wrong.
I wish I had done this when I bought by phone from Orange UK branded.
If you find out how to create an odin version please post here for others too.
ok thanks, i flashed the newer version over anyways.. thanks anyways
Is this correct?
Is this correct?
I have the same issue and after having mine sent into samsung for a successful repair (with a bunch of arguing and persuasion) I would like to back up this stock rom before continuing in order to avoid that situation again.
Mines a i9000M (bell version )
You always have to hack the ROM a bit to have a backup. Either you flash a custom kernel that'll give you CWM/nandroid backup or you root the ROM so you can do some adb magic.
There are also tons of stock ROMs floating around the interwebs, so with any luck you can find your own stock there.
As the title stated i want to get back to samsungs stock rom and kernal so i can upgrade my phone to 2.3 and get my warranty back.
First of all i need to disable the lagfix and the tweaks of course but after that should i flash back to samsungs original kernal or should i flash back to stock rom first?
My kernal version is:[email protected] #14(2.6.32.9)
Rom: I900XXJPY 2.2.1
Dumb question but i can't just upgrade my phone to 2.3 via the phone's self updater. I just want to be sure.
You don't give a ton of detail here. The first step would be to find a stock rom for your device and region (2.2.1, 2.2, 2.3 all would be OK) on samfirmware.com or ramad's collection here on XDA. Then flash with Odin.
Any stock rom that is right for your location should then update to the latest when you connect to kies (or so I hear I don't use Kies..)
It will contain a stock kernel so don't worry about that. Note though that if your phone is really screwed and that is why you are flashing a stock rom for warrenty then a custom rom might boot up but a stock rom may not.
If its just for resale then you should be good to go.
G
Thanks for the help man.. My phone is not screwed up but i'm starting notice that it is starting to "fall apart". So that's the reason i want my warrenty back.
Hello there,
I've been playing with my i9000m for the last 12 hours (...) and I seem to have hit a roadblock. I simply cannot find a kernel that will run on my phone with 2e/ clockworkmod recovery AT ALL and it's driving me a bit nuts. I'd love for someone to point me in the right direction, preferably to an Odin flashable (that's pretty much all I'm comfortable with) 2e/ clockworkmod recovery kernel that will actually get past the boot screen on an i9000m. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, all.
Oh, and if I should be using something other than Odin, please inform me. And if my thinking is all backwards, smack me and gimme some splainin, if you'd kindly. Thanks again.
what version of android / rom are you using? It will make a difference.
I'm using the stock gingerbread 2.3.3 UGKG3 rom designed for the i9000m. AFAIK, there is no custom kernel that will work with this rom - only the rooted stock kernel with no CWM.
If you want to use a custom kernel that has CWM features, I think you need to install either a stock i9000 rom like XXJVT, or you have to go with a custom rom entirely.
what exactly are you trying to do? If you want the latest stock rom with root. Flash JVT pda, with KG3 modem and CSC and 512 pit, in odin then flash latest semaphore or chainfire kernal to root. Put file in pda and flash in odin. There are alot of good tutorial on here.
Firmwares: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881
Root Kernal: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112908
I've just got UGJL2 on it atm, since that's the only thing i can get to actually run. I'll give XXJVT a shot. But ultimately all I want to be able to do is try some of the custom roms (cyanogen, miui, apply some fancy lock screens through update.zip) through the use of ROM manager... which I do need CWM for. I do like the stock gingerbread rom, I just want to customize it a bit.
cyanogen and miui are completely seperate roms, they are not based on samsung what so ever. You should probably just stick to stock jvt for now. (until you get your feet wet.) There are alot of great custom roms you can run on stock jvt. You just need to get that up and running first. Follow the instructions in the links I gave you. I live in Canada too, and run JVT pda on my phone, with KG3 modem and csc, works perfect, install semaphore kernal after, its the file linked Semaphore_Kernal_JVT_1.8.2.tar. Once your rolling you can install zips through cwm. Just remember to keep your baseband version, your modem KG3 or you will notice your cell coverage sucks. With KG3 its full bars. The firmware in the first link I gave you contains bootloaders so you can flash straight from there. Remember to use the 512 pit file. Since this is the first time your flashing gingerbread.
Alrighty, I see how it all peices together now. I've got the UGKG3 modem and CSC installed alongside the xxjvt PDA with Semaphore JVT over it. Runs really nicely too, Thanks for all the help guys. I'll play with this for a while, hopefully it'll continue to run nicely I'll go gander around at the other roms now that I actually know what i'm looking at! I like this one though, thanks for the reccomendation. And I do indeed have my CWM installed, so i can go gallavanting now
Thanks guys!
Happy rom hunting
Which "JVT" ROM did you guys install?
XFJVA/XXJVT/OXFJV1/Sbl or XXJVT/XXJVT/OXAJVT/Sbl (or does it matter between these two?)
