[Q] Contacts + Calendar Sync - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys
It may sound like a noob question, because im quite new to samsung and android.
My phone runs on darky 10.1,
since a few days my phone contacts wont show up in kies. The phone shows up, connects but the contact list in kies is empty. I do not have a solution to that, but mainly my problem ever since i got this phone(which is also the first android I use) - Resolved it, the problem was caused by deleting the wssyncmlnps.apk in system/app/ folder as i saw that it helps save the battery. Putting back the file to system/app sorted it, and now it connects and loads up fine. I do not know whether it helps stop the battery drain though, was following some forums.
I sync'd my contacts/calendar to the gmail account i made. It was a blank account which didnt have any contacts nor mail prior to the sync process because I never used it,
So my problem is that - why doesn't my gmail account (on the web) doesnt show any contacts or calendar content which i just sync'd from my phone ???
Thanks a lot in advance !

That is a very good question let me scratch my bald head and see what suggestions I can come up with! Back in a bit
Donate please @ Nitr8

1st suggestion is to try reflashing darkys, as what you removed and replaced is an apk, it may not be installed properly, or use a market apk installer to make sure it is actually installed, I will keep thinking

sync issues

Anyone else getting 'sync is currently experiencing problems' under Google contacts sync?
Flashed a new ROM at 1PM today (in the UK) and had no issues syncing...
Scrap that, just reflashed and for some reason google says it can't reach the server *sigh*

Yeah I had the same problem briefly.. then it seemed to work fine but is now back in a dumb state where it appears to be syncing contacts but never finishes. If I set it to sync a small group its ok but when set to 'all contacts' it just fails.
I have 1800+ contacts which can't be helping but it worked FINE for months b4 this (plus it's what, 300k of data?) So I'm feeling pretty annoyed by now! Thought Android was the end of syncing woes for a while ! :/
Maybe I'll go back to Cyanogen? On Soulife's Rogers... could the ROM be affecting it?
My Gmail and Contacts are now syncing fine *phew*
lucky you... I tried exporting all gmail contacts on a PC, deleting and then reimporting - still same problem .... any other ideas?
I wish Contacts on the phone had .CSV import!!!

Search is an awesome tool.....
this is a known issue since 2.2 for captivate came out - contacts in groups bring up wrong name.
find the 2.2 issues list and you will see this and a bunch of other stuff that is broken in 2.2. It is not an official release.

[Q] Edited gmail contacs not saving changes

Hi,
I am having a very strange problem with my SGS. Before I had a Nexus S and all my contacts are in my google account. I have my SGS sync with the google account apparently with no issues.
BUT when I edit a contact the changes are not saved! I press save and it says the the changes were saved, but when I go again to the contact the old info is there... I have tried to edit the address or to add/remove number in the contacs.
This only happens when editing existing contacts. If I add a new contact is OK or if I delete an existing contact it also works.
Any clue what can be wrong???
Thanks
PS: I have a stock ROM 2.3.6 JWZ
same problem here ....
sometimes my contacts get synced via googlemail - somtimes not ..
Really? How can something so basic give issues... and this is one of the latest official firmwares!!
Does anybody know if in other earlier/later roms work?
Or something better, where can I find the original contact manager from Gingerbread to replace Samsung's garbage? I have rooted and I guess I could get rid of it with root explorer, true?
Nobody else with the same issue?
I really don't want to flash again. And even less if I don't know other stock roms might have the same problem.
Nobody can tell me if they have any problems editing contacts from the google account?
What could I do, copy contacts to phone?
Hi, I have updated to the lasted official firmware for my samsung galaxy GT I9100 and am having the exact same problem as you. Yet it was working fine before update.
Did you find a solution?
Cheers
If u are on ICS,after making changes u need to confirm it at the top of the screen before leaving the contact

[Q] Facebook App! AHHHHH!

Hello,
I hope this is in the right section and if not.... could a moderator move it for me! I am a noob to XDA. (I am not a noob to hacking and roming and such). With this said, I updated several friends phones with the newest Cyanogen 9 6/25. Of course, the Facebook app is not working with Google sync. It swirls like its trying and then stops. However, my friend got his to work, and all his facebook friends statuses, numbers and pictures all synced to his phone. I CANNOT understand how he did it and either does he! Ive tried several third party apps such as HAXsync and friendcaster... They all swirl like theyre trrying, and THEN stop and dont put ANY contacts in. What could have been the deal? Any help would be great.

I think Facebook sync should work, and I can guarantee that Haxsync will work. With Facebook, if your contact names differ from those people's names on Facebook, it won't attach them automatically. You will have to go into each contact and press join. You can avoid that with Haxsync, as it will do that for you. Just make sure it's configured correctly and give it 5 minutes to do its thing.
Hmm... :/
I wonder whats wrong. I got friendcaster to work finally but it wouldnt work without it. Haxsync refused as well. It would add my own picture but not any friends. I went through for an hour and a half and switched everyones name to their Facebook names and it didnt work. Sigh. I installed GoContacts and I picked only show contacts with numbers because the stock messaging app does not have that option. I heard there was some issue between Google and Facebook that wouldnt allow me to sync my contacts! GAH! Thanks so much!

[Q] Sync problems Facebook & HTC One

Since day one I am not able to open my Friends-list in Facebook on my HTC One phone. When clicking on Friends I will get this message: Cannot retrieve friends list. Please try again later. [1/An unknown error occurred]
When checking Settings/Accounts & Sync in Android I will find an red refresh symbol of Facebook and this message: Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly.
I did completely remove Facebook, People and Contacts on my tablet, phone and PC. But after re-installing everything, the problem remains.
I am not able to see my friends list and can not tag friends in a post. Also my contacts pictures in Android are not synced with the Facebook profile pictures.
What can I do to solve this annoying problem?
460 views and 0 replies, damn. Nobody got a clue? I tried to contact Facebook as well, but no help from them either.

Thanks for helping xineis!
I tried those steps but that didn't help either.
I removed and/or cleared:
PC>Facebook>Account Settings>Apps>every single app
Phone>Accounts & Sync>Facebook
Phone>Accounts & Sync>Google
Phone>Apps>All>Contacts Storage
Phone>Apps>All>Facebook (also uninstalled updates)
Phone>Apps>All>Facebook for HTC Sense
Phone>Apps>All>Google Contacts Sync
Phone>Apps>All>HTC Sync
Phone>Apps>All>People
I also removed all contacts from Google contacts on my PC.
After these steps I open Facebook, and after filling in my credentials I choose Sync all. After a few minutes, when I check the Phone>Accounts & Sync>Facebook option I will find an exclamation mark right next to the refresh symbol within Facebook Contacts.
I tried all kinds of configuration but never have been able to solve this issue. Facebook will simply not sync the contacts.
More suggestions please!
Just tried a full wipe but that also does not change anything. Than I tried another Facebook account and that worked just fine. But when I tried mine, same problem remains. Must be an error on Facebook server.
How can I contact Facebook directly? The help function sucks and it seems they just ignore my messages

You even tried the "change password" step?
humm, I don't have the One (yet), but as any Android device it probably has that reset button (is that the "factory reset"?). I know it's a little harsh but it could (maybe) solve your problem...
Have you tried alternative facebook apps like Fast for Facebook and Haxsync? See if they have are having sync issues as well. Also, is your phone 'authorised' by Facebook? Long shot but worth trying

Dont mean to sound simple but...

Ok I had the same problem for ages and one day realised that not all syncs were on - under phone settings yes but apps have individual settings that cannot be overridden by your phone... I'm sure you wouldve tried something so simple but just in case - go into your Facebook app on your phone, under the menu tab select 'app settings' and at the very very bottom of the list there is an option for how to sync contacts i.e. none, all or existing only ...
This is probably something that you've already tried but hey, I was silly enough to not realise!!
I'm sorry if this was not much help, aside from blissful simplicity I am unable to assist.
very useful info
Thanks so much for the useful info ^^^....had this same problem and thought it was the recent kitkat 4.4.2 update. Thanks...am sorted
