Sorry in advance for the nooby question. I just cancelled my Verizon plan for my Verizon Galaxy Tablet and have someone who wants to buy it to use as Wifi only. Is there a way to do this? I reset the tab back to stock, but now I can't get past the activate screen. How can I convert this tablet to wifi only?
When you get to the activation screen press the volume button in this sequence.
UP, DOWN DOWN, UP UP UP, DOWN DOWN DOWN DOWN
A new menu will appear allowing you to skip activation.

Hi everyone. To date, I've rooted every Android phone my wife and I have owned (and several for other people). I bought a Verizon Samsung tablet today and of course I want to root it. The tab was used and the girl I bought it from did a factory reset BEFORE disconnecting it from her data package. I noticed that the tab went through an activation process after the reset. Everything works fine on it now, except it's stock and not rooted.
I'm not sure if rooting this thing will require me to activate the tablet. I haven't researched to see if the software is replaced or if it just pushes super user to the tab but I'm pretty sure flashing a rom would require the initial activation set up.
So my question, if I root and rom my tab and DO NOT have a data plan, will I be able to get back into the device? I asked Verizon what would happen if I did a factory reset (which is the same as wiping data in recovery) and they said I could temporarily move one of my phone lines to the tab...which is also a problem because we have 2 Thunderbolts. If I transfer my line from the phone, my sim card will be no good. I'd have to go to Verizon to get a new one.
Any way to bypass the initial activation after a factory reset or rom flash? Or is that even a problem for rooters without data plans. Am I over thinking?
No one?

Thanks, I found something online saying that I can press the following at the activation screen to bypass it:
Vol up once
Vol down twice
Vol up three times
Vol down four times
I'm yet to try it but I will this weekend.

Hi i recently bought a Motorla Milestone off craigslist. Upon turning it on I am prompted with a screen only allowing me to make emergency calls and nothing else. The screen also says no service no sim. My question is can I bypass this as I only want to use it over wifi. Or if not what can I do to use this phone would puting a unactivated sim bring up the normal activation screen?

Click to collapse
Perform a factory reset of the phone that should get rid of the screen only allowing you to make emergency calls. And yes putting a normal unactivated SIM should bring up the normal activation screen if not I believe you dial *228

I just bought a Samsung Tab for 140 bucks.
Model # sch-I800
I think it is a 3G tab but I bought it because I only want it for wifi use only and the previous owner said it could be used wifi only. When I turn it on it asks me to activate it and when I hit the activate button it says unsuccessful.
Do they have to be activated? If so how?
thanks in advance!
Nevermind. I figured out how you can bypass the activation screen using a certain sequence of the volume butttons. So I'm up and running now.

Does anyone know why our network shows on the lock screen as HOME instead of Straight Talk or ATTU? On my OnePlus One, it would show ATT. Is there a way to change it from HOME to Straight Talk or ATTU without rooting?

I am currently configuring a Verizon Moto E5 play (rjames) for use with an upcoming project of mine. However, cannot pass the Verizon activation screen. Where a skip button would be there is nothing
Could anyone assist me on bypassing this?
(Edit) Should probably mention I don’t use Verizon, and plan on using this device on wifi only
Sorry if anything is unclear, am new to xda
Just hope there is some way
