Here it is! My #1 aggravation with this phone: the lockscreen.
What is this?
This is a Clockwork-installable ZIP that will remove the junk LG Lockscreen, and switch to the AOSP style sliding tab lockscreen.
Click to collapse
How do I install this?
1. Put this zip file on your external SD card (do not extract it!)
2. Reboot into Clockwork
3. Select "Install ZIP from SDCard"
4. Find the "revo-aosp-lockscreen.zip" and select it. Hit install!
5. Wipe the dalvik-cache.
Your phone will take a while to boot back up after this mod, it's normal!

Technical Information
LG's lockscreen is defined in /system/framework/android.policy.jar as AndyLockscreen.
In LockPatternKeyguardView.smali method createLockScreen (line 1947), change line 1952, and remove "Andy_" from the string.
Line 1964, remove "Andy_" also.

Can't wait for this download! I thought you might have put it on Rootwiki first but I guess I'll just have to be patient. Thank you though, other than my random shutdowns the lockscreen is the only annoying thing about this phone I haven't been able to change!

Looks and works great, thank you!
Thanks. Pretty cool.
So now that you've had an hour's rest, When are you doing a port of Gingerbread? ;-) Shouldn't take you more than what a week?
Seriously if I want to contribute for your efforts do I just do one contribution or one for each thing you've done? Also since I'm new to this, what kind of donation is typical?
What did you use to accomplish the changes you outlined in the technical portion. Thanks, I'm having issues with that part.

Gingerbread is coming soooon I'm working hard on it, I've even got a test build going, but it doesn't recognize 4g and it seems to put the phone in a weird state. I'll put out screenshots as a tease here soon
As far as donations, anything is fine. Like I say in every post that I put a donation button on-- I'm not in this for the donations, I'm in it for fun

Changes were accomplished using baksmali to decompile the archive (rename android.policy.jar to android.policy.zip and extract the classes.dex file, then feed it to baksmali). Once I changed the files, I used smali to re-generate the classes.dex file, and updated the zip file with WinRAR to include the new dex file.
To help me understand what was going on in the actual code, since smali is incomprehensible, I used dex2jar to turn the android.policy.jar into a bunch of .class files which were readable via JD-GUI. Once I had the gist of what was going on, the appropriate changes were made in the smali files (since JD-GUI files aren't re-compilable)
All in all, the changes took about 2 hours to do (mostly figuring out where the lockscreen was created and other miscellaneous digging comparing the decompiled source to the AOSP code)
Do I need to make those changes myself, or does your program do that? I ask because I downloaded the file and installed it using cwm as your instructions state, but I still have the stock lock screen.
thanks!

Program should do that automatically...
Ah, did you download the "revert to stock lockscreen" zip on accident?
I should say "revert to stock LG lockscreen".
The "install" zip is what you want
After many attempts, going back to stock, deleting downloaded files, re-downloading and installing per instructions, I still only get the stock lock. Any thoughts?

I'm looking to ad to my custom theme/mod the "flip transitions" that are popping up in other roms. Could someone point me in the right direction to find out how to go about doing this?
The transitions are located in system/framework/frameworks-res.apk/res/anim
Just replace the /anim folder

system/framework
Its just a basic copy paste move or overwrite and reboot if you will...simple really. If someone wants to make this into a flashable zip for the masses ill be more than happy add it to the post.
I know some ppl wanted these animations without having to use another rom or theme[like myself] so this is for you guys too. Enjoy!!!!

I will be uploading the Epic Exp. and ACS roms with the .apk already installed and then you may go from there...but i must get sleep
you do realize that every rom/theme has a unique framework-resk.apk and using this one will break all but the one specific rom/theme you are usiing?
Really now? I tested it on Epic Experience1.2.07a and ACS 1.0.1a. I can upload the both ROMs using the .apk if you'd like...and I dont use themes my good man

The purpose of making it is to create a clean rom for people that might not want everything customised. eg. having a blank cardboard box. You can do anything with it.
A simple rom for simple people.
The improvements will be that it might be a bit faster and a bit more space.
i will in the future be creating a rom that is customized

Although you are correct in some way, that wasn't a very smart question. Not everyone likes one same launcher right? But does that mean every dev and android phone manufacturer should put about ten different launchers in their ROMS to suit everyone's needs? Ah, ok!

i saw this over the Nexus S thread, and thought it would be awesome if we had the Recent Apps on a click of a button, but not by holding the Home button..and since we don't use the Search button (at least i don't) , we could remap it so it could show the Recent Apps..
so.. here is the MOD : [MOD][19 JAN] Search key to ICS recent apps [add CM9, AOKP and Peter Alfonso version]
and the HOW-TO : [HOWTO] Remap hardware button to ICS recent apps
i tried to make it myself, but i couldn't, so i would like to make a request, or a little help for this MOD

Or you can just remove the assertions from the update scripts. It seems to work, but it messes up some framework assets, as I was expecting, see the screenshots.
I'll see if I can the file from our build, decompile, make the changes and then recompile but I'm pretty new at this stuff. For instance.... do I have to sign the file to be able to use it, and how do I do that?
and yes, it works beautifully. having the app switcher just one tap away makes this a true multi tasking device to me. You will lose this button functionality though, so if you depend on it this won't work for you.

Haha I'm one of the few people who only use linux so I doubt my way will help many people. I zipped it from the linux terminal(which is how I do all my bootanimations) using the command "zip -r -0 bootanimation.zip part0/* part1/* desc.txt". But as long as the zip is made without compression(the -0 does that in the command I posted) it will work and you can use any windows archive program with that capability.
