This is for the the aokp.co boot animation competition! It's 540x540 because the rules say that it must work with every supported device and the lowest resolution in an AOKP supported device is 540x960.
I can't get any of my boot animations to work, but the ingredients are here (part0, part1, desc.txt)

I rezipped it for you, as long as it's named properly for the device and given the proper permissions, this zip file will work. Already tried it on my phone. You're welcome.

Winrar has an unlimited "30 day" trial! Lol
Edit: or maybe you aren't pressing the right option? When you right click, do you have the option to "add to archive"? That's the one with all the features. If you select add to zip or whatever, it won't give you that

Haha I'm one of the few people who only use linux so I doubt my way will help many people. I zipped it from the linux terminal(which is how I do all my bootanimations) using the command "zip -r -0 bootanimation.zip part0/* part1/* desc.txt". But as long as the zip is made without compression(the -0 does that in the command I posted) it will work and you can use any windows archive program with that capability.

Hey guys -
I'm looking to ad to my custom theme/mod the "flip transitions" that are popping up in other roms. Could someone point me in the right direction to find out how to go about doing this?

Here it is! My #1 aggravation with this phone: the lockscreen.
What is this?
This is a Clockwork-installable ZIP that will remove the junk LG Lockscreen, and switch to the AOSP style sliding tab lockscreen.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
How do I install this?
1. Put this zip file on your external SD card (do not extract it!)
2. Reboot into Clockwork
3. Select "Install ZIP from SDCard"
4. Find the "revo-aosp-lockscreen.zip" and select it. Hit install!
5. Wipe the dalvik-cache.
Your phone will take a while to boot back up after this mod, it's normal!

LG's lockscreen is defined in /system/framework/android.policy.jar as AndyLockscreen.
In LockPatternKeyguardView.smali method createLockScreen (line 1947), change line 1952, and remove "Andy_" from the string.

So now that you've had an hour's rest, When are you doing a port of Gingerbread? ;-) Shouldn't take you more than what a week?
Seriously if I want to contribute for your efforts do I just do one contribution or one for each thing you've done? Also since I'm new to this, what kind of donation is typical?
What did you use to accomplish the changes you outlined in the technical portion. Thanks, I'm having issues with that part.

Changes were accomplished using baksmali to decompile the archive (rename android.policy.jar to android.policy.zip and extract the classes.dex file, then feed it to baksmali). Once I changed the files, I used smali to re-generate the classes.dex file, and updated the zip file with WinRAR to include the new dex file.
To help me understand what was going on in the actual code, since smali is incomprehensible, I used dex2jar to turn the android.policy.jar into a bunch of .class files which were readable via JD-GUI. Once I had the gist of what was going on, the appropriate changes were made in the smali files (since JD-GUI files aren't re-compilable)
All in all, the changes took about 2 hours to do (mostly figuring out where the lockscreen was created and other miscellaneous digging comparing the decompiled source to the AOSP code)
Do I need to make those changes myself, or does your program do that? I ask because I downloaded the file and installed it using cwm as your instructions state, but I still have the stock lock screen.
thanks!

Ah, did you download the "revert to stock lockscreen" zip on accident?
I should say "revert to stock LG lockscreen".
The "install" zip is what you want
After many attempts, going back to stock, deleting downloaded files, re-downloading and installing per instructions, I still only get the stock lock. Any thoughts?

how do i now make it work on my phone? using gt-i9100 android 4.4
I knew this was possible and heard of it done. Just never attempted it. Thanks for making my research a bit shorter
Now that I have a valid bootanimaion.zip file that works if I place it in /system/media, is it possible to somehow make it so that I can easily install it by flashing it via TWRP? Manually copying the file over and setting the correct permissions can get tedious when flashing new nightlies on a nearly daily basis..

Correct, you can create a flashable.zip quite easily to be flashed either phone specific or to nearly any phone with the same screen size (or different size but it may look terrible)

no worries, there is zero need for windows, actually if anything i would prefer Linux
just take a working flashable.zip ROM for your phone and extract contents
throw away all folders inside but META-INF
place bootanimation.zip in same folder level as META-INF (not in META-INF but same level if you know what i mean)
then open up META-INF/com/google./android
open the updater script in gedit or whatever unix format text editor
erase all in there and replace with something like
Code:
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mount", "/system");
ui_print("Installing Bootanimation");
package_extract("bootanimation.zip", "/system/media");
set_perm(0, 0, 0644, "/system/media/bootanimation.zip");
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "umount", "/system");
ui_print("Enjoy your new Bottanimation by:synt3k");
now save
Then zip up bootanimation.zip and META-INF
name it whatever
sign it (lots of methods to do so, ask if you need help)
flash away!

couldn't tell you, ask OP as this isn't my thread
all bootanimations I have made have been by different methods but plan to try this out
but i would assume MP4 should be fine
Request you add the restrictions on the video files you use... I tried doing this with a video of 26sec, which was around 500 frames. Did not work. Broke it down to around 200 and it worked. I have not pushed until the limit was reached. Don't know if it is frame amount or size limit. Also if you use jpg vice png or bmp, you will save a lot on size. DVDVideoSoft, Fotosizer, and Advanced Renamer to build mine.
blank
all I'm getting is a blank screen when booting. I've followed all the steps and even resized my images to match my device. 800X480 for samsung galaxy s2. I've also changed the permissions and moved it to system/media I'm on 4.3 custom aosp rom.

I ran into the same problem I don't see that option either
if I want to share an animation, are there any good GIF making programs that will make small file-sized animations so I can share on the forum? thanks!
Something wrong happened for me.. the tablet is stuck at the end of the bootanimation..
After couple of restarts and wiping dalvik the system starts and i managed to replace it with the original bootanimation.
So like po8pimp said.. I hope you add some restrictions.
.. @demkantor
Package_extract gave me a status 6 error.
So I added " _dir " created two folders system/media.. then included the zip inside it and installed without errors.
Thank you.

If you are rooted:
1. Download a root explorer app (ES File Explorer is suggested and free)
2. Enable root directory (in ES File Explorer hit menu, go to settings, and check "Up to Root", then go farther down and check "Root Explorer". Accept any Superuser requests.
3. Go back to your explorer and navigate to where you downloaded the "bootanimation.zip" file. Copy (or cut) it.
4. Navigate as far up as you can into your root directory, and then to /data/local/
5. Paste your "bootanimation.zip" file into /data/local/ (it MUST be named bootanimation.zip)

I apologize for that. My render settings were messed up. Will upload the crystal sharp version momentarily. Sorry for the trouble!

Maybe you are not on CM12. The apk is meant for CM12 theme engine. You can try using the .zip instead :fingers-crossed:

Well I am glad that you replied. This has the sharpness issue too.

The problem was, my After Effects render settings was set to 'half' the resolution. Will see if I kept the other project file intact too. If it's there I'll definitely post it. ColorPop will be updated very soon. Thanks for your cooperation
Btw, brace yourself for double the file size
Edit :
v2 Uploaded. Check it out :fingers-crossed:
