I thought that we were supposed to create a thread in dev for every little question for which answers have been given numerous times
Search for Link2SD in the Market.

I have apps2sd app on JF1.51 ADP1, the question I would like answered is why is it still using my Internal Memory. It takes memory from sd and Internal Memory. It will be greatly appreciated...Thankx for all the help devs and dev website...Jf1.51 ADP1....Tethered G1 WHITE...appstosd in progress lol....Rooted up.
all apps create a cache that uses memory. you need to move the dalvik cache also.
btw, i never understand why people start a whole new thread with "im running so and so build" why wouldnt you ask in your build thread instead of starting a whole new thread that wont require anymore than 2 posts?
Why do we need a thread about this, go read the sticky top of this section. Btw you need to move you data over in order to stop memory usage.
do u guys always have to cry cuz they make a new dam polll who cares man they got ppl for that fk
let any one make a dam poll even if there is 1000 already done
Hello,
I have problem with my G1.
Sometimes when someone call me phone just start to vibrate and that's all You can't answer or close the phone.... You can't don nothing. And I need to remove the battery cause there is no other chance. And of course after the reboot there is nothing in the call log.
So is there someone who know what is going on or some chance to find a resolution of this because is very annoying.
Thank you in advance.
Regards
hi
well have you tried to wipe reset and/or flash another rom
Well I'm using Cyanogen 4.25 and I have made partitions but I don't know how to wipe partition with all the programs. I have 3 partitions - one swap, one for programs and my rest of the card.
But I haven't try any other roms. Well I was using before JF but this was before cyanogen so ....
What rom will you recommend me to try? Something stable I mean.
P.S Sorry for my stupid questions but I'm kind a lame with that phone.
Hi,
You might want to post this in the Q&A sub forum instead on in the DEV section.
You are more likely to get some help there.
thanks!
Either try difrent rom and see if the problem stops or u can unroot ur phone and call t-mobile
Well I can unroot my phone but I can't call T-mobile because I'm in Bulgaria and my phone is from UK .....
Will try to put other rom but will you recommend some?
!!!!!!
Gaaahhh!! It's a full-blown takeover!
This forum is for Android development! That's why it's called "Dream Android development!!!!"
Questions go in the Question&A forum!!!
MOD EDIT - Reduced size of text. No need for large text.....In my eyes this is just as bad as posting in wrong forum!!!
Here I go... reboot into recovery, wipe your data, wipe your ext partition, flash cyanogen's rom again. Cyanogen's is the most stable rom out there (possibly more stable than stock Android), so I'd recommend doing a wipe (including SD) and trying it again. But really, please ask in the right forum. It seems we get another question thread in this forum every ten minutes, and it really clutters it up and gets in the way of the real work going on here.
Wow!!! Sorry for the post here didn't know that will be so mad people ...
You can move my theme to Q&A sections if is nessesary.
But how can I wipe my SD card with lose any of the partitions? As I told you I'm noob (was able to make partitions by my own but now I don't know what to do)
Thanks for the answers and sorry again.

A mod will move this thread soon, but they are overwhelmed moving them all. It's becoming a hassle.
If you are using RA's recovery, there is an option in the menu to wipe your ext partition. I don't remember if the latest Cyanogen+JF recovery has that option or not. If you don't have it, then use gparted from a live cd, or use sdparted on your phone, to repartition. There are a lot of guides to this on these forums, if you search. (note that wiping ext will delete your apps, but repartitioning will erase all your files as well as your apps, so be sure to back up)
hi
boot your phone into recovery you know home and power ant the go to terminal and hit enter then enter this
parted /dev/block/mmcblk0
print
there is a portion that is like 500mb and you need to redo that partition it should be #2 so hit
rm 2mkpartfs primary ext2 3437 3937(depending on the size of your sd card)
MOD EDIT - Moved to Q&A forum. In future please abide by forum rules and post in correct forum. Little Tip, read title of forum and ask yourself is my question related to this.

too much work and it could cause errors
in recovery, go to console and
Code:
mke2fs -j /dev/block/mmcblk0p2

What this do?!
Just now I have wiped all the ext, cache and reflashed the cyanogen mod. Will tell you if this issue appears again.
It happened to me once
I was playing music and playing a game then some one called and the phone hung
I also had to clock it up to 528MHz instead of 384MHz so it can play music and run the game smoothly
I just thought maybe the old G1 couldn't handle the load
I've posted this question to the General section of the forum but with no answer. Mod please excuse me but I refuse to think that there is NO answer available.
I've installed a Micromod ROM , repartitioned my SD card and created an ext3 partition, so I do not have to worry about running low on memory on my phone. But I still see the amount of available Internal Memory going down. How is that ? I was under the impression that apps2ext would automatically put every app in the ext3 partition, isn't it the case ? Should I enable or change something in the setting of my phone ? Right now I have 107 mb available, going down.....

Is dalvik cache also moved?
And data from those apps are still saved to the data partition. Only the apps (and depending on the configuration, dalvik cache) are moved to the ext3 partition. There's also the possibility of bad sectors.
You might want to ask these things in the thread of the ROM you've installed in the future. Chances are the dev would answer, and you wouldn't have to get riled up.

app data goes to internal, while the actual apk goes to the ext(sd card).
this doesnt belong in development. this has been answered many of times.
hello, i am new to xda.. so please forgive me if i stated a wrong question or in the wrong section or even repeat the question as i couldnt get a fully satisfying solution searching the forum. i cant post directly in the developer section as i dont yet have access to it...so i posted in the QnA section.
so i have xperia x8 with stock kernel and i have flashed a custom rom PrimeHD v6.0 after reading thoroughly all the requirements and procedures.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1480404
and then i had installed a tweak for cm7 roms: jimdemdroid
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379754
now the thing is i want to upgrade the present custom rom ie v6.0 to v7.0
but i am kind of unsure how to do it correctly.. i mean i know how to do it through the recovery.. but my questions are:
1. do i have to again factory reset/full wipe the phone again??..
2. do i have to clear all caches.. like the dalvik cache etc.. [i read it somewhere you have to delete all the caches]
3. will the applications INSTALLED on my external storage be affected if at all i require a full wipe?
4. since i have flashed jimdemdroid tweak, do i have to do full wipe in this case?.. ie if otherwise the wipe isnt required or so..
5. a detailed step by step instruction would be very appreciated!!
some off the topic questions..[just didnt want to open a new thread for these]
1. do i actually need the jimdemdroid tweak [even the lite version] on primehd mod.. as i dont see much difference except the bravia engine.. no to mention the dsp manager doesnt work now due to xloud drivers..
2. i had selected the install location in the cyanogenmod application settings to external. ie the apps shud now go to the sdcard.. but my internal storage now also gets filled.. and also in the normal application settings->manage applications-> i still find a 'move to sd card' button active.. if i already have installed the apps in the external storage [which also gets filled obviously] then that option shudnt be there.. or faded w/e..
i was on 6.0 (stock kernel) and i upgraded to 7.0 today
everything is working perfectly for me, even the wifi wich doesn't work on custom kernels work perfect.
if you ask me, i would remove jimdemdroid, because there is no big difference with or without it
i didn't wiped anything, and i used titanium backup for backuping everything (messages, contacts, bookmarks, calendars, apps) just in case
install and reboot only..
no need full wipe
The new update it will wipe your current system, with any changes made by you..e.x this tweak, but not your data
So
if you want it you must install it again(the tweak package..)
we clear the dalvik when we have incompatibles with apps
And also if we have force close with a app we delete in data/data /the file of this and reinstall it

Answer to your questions :
1. A full wipe is always recommended to avoid any type of possible bugs/errors.
2. Once you do a full wipe , clearing dalvik cache etc is NOT required
3. android.secure (applications on SD card) is formatted
4. Full wipe after flashing the tweak is not required. However if you face some problems/errors , do a full wipe
5. Just gave you the answers
Off topic answers :
1. PrimeHD is already stable enough. As such the tweak is not required.
2. When an application is moved to SD card , only some part is shifted to the SD card. The whole application is NOT transferred to the SD card. Did you try to click on the "Move to SD card" option. Probably your app wasn't even installed to the SD card in the first place.
thank you all for your replies..
ok so i get it like this
1. download primehdv7.0 files and move it to sdcard
2. reboot into cwm recovery
3. do a full wipe [optional- just to eliminate bugs by mere chance- though it will remove my messages contacts on internal storage and apps on external storage]
4. install zip from sdcard
5. reboot and done!
please confirm the above thing.. thank you.. and yes one more thing... if i dont do a full wipe.. do i require to remove caches and stats .. if yes.. then please mention all of them..
and @mayank77 for the offtopic answer.. i get it about the partial move of apps to sd... but i also read about the permanent solution to move complete app to sd.. ie via sdk manager following steps to setInstallLocation to 2 (external) via cmd using adb
but recently i tried this method on my friends mobile which is android 2.2 galaxy fit and it doesnt seems to work.. i rechecked the install location by pm getinstalllocation and it says there external.. but then too the internal storage was getting filled... now i suspected this method also as a partial moving to sd.. but no.. the whole app was installed in the phone memory.. any suggestions to that??
as I exp if you use other rom i always wipe my system ,,,and I use flash player after wards,, note if you dont know how to use flash tool pls do soo before performing wiping system on your cwm
@rezzen25 : flash player or flash tool??..
and i need a confirmation if the flashtool has to be used for sure.. as from the previous replies.. i dont think that we are to use flashtool..
personal satisfaction for doing safe measures is a different thing though.. and this isnt a new rom i am adding.. its an upgrade to the same rom..

First of all welcome to xda yeah for the clean installation of romm what u need to do is
1 WIPEdata/factory reset
2 wipe cache partion
3 in advance option wipe dalvik cache and wipe battery stats
this are the steps for clean installation
but i do not insists on upgrading the rom always do a clean installation
and for moving app2sd there is brilliant app called link2sd on the google play store it moves the complete app and dalvik cache too but for that u need to partion your sd card to ext3 or ext4 based on the app i am using ext4 partion
and partion can be done via two methods in built recovery or by the help of pc app windows miniwizard partion tool search for partion tutuorial on xda
good luck and if ur trying to unlock ur bootloader if aware of reading the stickies in the general section

flashtool is used in the case of soft bricking or flashing the kernels not for flashing roms
instead do a clean install rather then upgrade my openion though
@ankitxperia : thanks a lot ... i exactly needed this reply.. i think i will do a clean install whatsoever
about link2sd.. yeah i will look for partitioning guide and give that a try... i read it somewhere that link2sd does all the job... but i was quite reluctant to try partitioning as i got to read and stuff.. but now... i will definitely read and do the partition..
and yes.. please tell if you have tried the sdk manager thing to install your apps to sd card directly.. as i said it didnt seem to work.. if you have tried it ie setinstalllocation to external.. please confirm that it works .. thank you..
O my fg...
Dude install and reboot for v7
Full wipe if the dev say it..
Like v8 who's say:
To install v8 make full wipe and don't ask why...
And also i read something for v9..
So wait and make 10 posts to make there your questions

PrimeHD v 8.0 has released. It's OK. I using now...
I'have read several threads about this topic and I'm still clueless.
Here's the thing, I have a rooted Galaxy ace s5830m and its internal memory is almost full all the time so I'm unable to install and update a lot of apps. I'm not sure about if I need to install a mod, I don't even know how to install mods, I've also read something about partitions on the sd which is pretty much rocket science for me so any type of information or guides is highly useful.
Thanks a lot <3

...first of all wrong section, this is the GT-S5830 Q & A THREAD... this is your section http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2114
You can do it, A2SDgui-Darktremor script, I don't remmeber if Link2sd could move dalvik cache to sd too ...(I think no)
BTW I advise you don't move dalvik-cache to sdcard, if you device is rooted use titanium backup to claen dalvik-cache or do it using CWM to delete useless data and get free space.
