Hey all i wanted to kno what to install to have a smooth, stable & fast phone cause atm im running the Froyo rom from samsung but the phone feels laggy.
Any suggestions?
Links would be usefull
Thx in advance
W.
try Voodoo, seeems to be pretty stable http://project-voodoo.org/
My two cent:
Froyo "from samsung" is a pre-release beta, if you want a stable version, install the official rom for your device (the one available trough kies) and wait for the REAL froyo release.
Don't think they change.much.
The main reason what for some icon did disappear or did not installed when upgrade.
The best lagfix i know right now its z4mod.
Its fast and lagfree.
I also have super optimized kernel.
But you need to know how to flash with odin.

Hello All,
Since i still cannot post any comments in the DEV forum i wanted to ask few questions for the Juwe's Rom 4.3.1 developers who helped to create something almost perfect.
I am a very heavy user for the I9000 SGS and i have been trying Juwe's 4.3.1 ROM and i noticed few things.
1- The device is overheating when i am using the you tube application .
2- The battery performance is great only when you are disabling data networks , due to the nature of my work i have to keep it up at all times , and the battery drains is faster than the stock gingerbread release 2.3.3
3- Front camera is not working properly using the camera application but works perfect on video calls.
4- This is not related to this ROM in particular but i also witnessed it on the Simplyhoney v3 ROM as well - There are applications that i cannot find on the android market such as ( Whatsapp messenger , flash player , angry birds , advanced task killer , bubbles , islamic salat widget , hijri calendar ,.. )
5- Last is the arabic patch doesn't have keyboard ?! " can some one help with it please "
Note : The files stored for the TW4 is corrupted on both hotfile and deposit , please check this as well.
Yet thanks for the creators of the ROM and the team helped them it is some piece of work .
Regards,
Ahmed A Gad

Re flashed XWJVH and reinstalled juwes rom, everything works again.
Boot animation loop
Hi all,
I have been a darky fan all along and decided today to try out Juwe's new rom. I followed his instructions exactly.
Previously, I was on Ficeto's JVP base rom, Dark Core 2.7.3.
I disabled voodoo lagfix, booted into Download mode and flashed stock firmware from samfirmware.com - I9000XWJVH 2.3.3
When using Odin (v1.3), I only placed the the stock firmware in PDA. I checked re-partition and used the appropriate pit file.
Then phone rebooted normally, and then I used 3-button combo to get it back into Download mode. I used Odin again to flash the CF-Root v3.2 Kernel (Re-partition UNTICKED)
Then I flash Juwe v4.3.1 (wipe) via CWM. Wipe cache + Dalvik.
everything has gone well so far, then I boot the phone and it loads Juwe's Smart Edition animation - Earth shaking animation.
However it continues to replay this boot animation forever!
I tried reflashing from the beginning multiple times and it still doesn't work! Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Ahilen
Wait, tomorow juwe release new version based on jvp and i mean withot bug
Hi all on xda i'm wanting to improve my galaxy s i9000 speed, at the moment my phone runs at abt 960-1000 on quadrant standered which i know is rubbish, my galaxy s is on a stock rom & kernel (firmware 2.3.3, build number GINGERBREAD.XWJVH, kernel 2.6.35.7-i9000XWJVH-CL184813 [email protected] #2) updated using kies, I used to have it rooted but unrooted it don't know why what r my options regarding getting better results on quadrant any help on this topic would be much appreciated.
Thank you
John
install a custom rom,
if u want good battery, decent speed then install Darkys Rom,
if u want PURE speed (with stock android, without the touchwiz ui) then install CyanogenMod7
or just go over to the development section and experiment around with the Roms,
MAKE SURE THAT B4 U INSTALL A ROM, U ARE ROOTED BY INSTALLING A GINGERBREAD KERNEL THORUGH ODIN, AND THAT YOU KNOW HOW TO GET OUT OF A SITUATION IF U HAPPEN TO BRICK YOUR PHONE (LIKELY, BUT EASY TO FIX ) however, if u do anything to your phone and u dnt know how to fix it, im not responsible, ill try 2 help but wnt guarantee anythink
if i helped, be sure to click the "thanks" button
Forget quadrant, just a random number generator. High score in quadrant has value when you wanna show off, and at the same time let others know you really don't know.
I'm still going on XWJVH, happy user of rooted Semaphore kernel 1.8.2.
The included Semaphore app gives you access to a lot of tweaks, Voodoo color/sound and a smooth operating phone.
The latest leaked ROMs (XXJVS, XXJVT) still has bugs: phone FC, WIFI disconnect. If you feel brave and wanna try one of these ROMs, make sure to read what's fixed in their OP and latest posts for experience of users.

Try ThunderBolt! in my sig. Be sure to read the requirements and meet them before flashing
Stock jvt
or faaryabs f1 rom v13 that hopefully will be released today if you want more features.
talon or semaphore as kernel.
And thunderbolt tweaks.

delete unnecessary apps
root and delete unneccesary apps.
Flash stock JVT and Semaphore, then convert to EXT4.
my WiFi works fine, and for the Phone FC, just flash the JVT Phone Fix.
For me this is the best stock ROM that I've tried. Fast and stable, the browser has improved a lot.

use sgs chlorine, can remove all the stock apps in seconds
Sent using TCP/IP
Root and install a Cooked rom, anyone will do better than the stock one.
And forget Quadrant, it's rubbish.
+1 on Pikachu01 Thunderbolt script. Running very much smoother on my SGS.
Mitra Rom is faster then other and use lagfix
small tip

If you use JVT with JVK modem the phone will operate amazingly, no phone fc, no wifi disconnect, great battery life + performance.
Good luck!
try miui mintberry
My advice would be first flash a few custom roms+kernels and see how that works for you.
If that isn't fast or smooth enough you could try tweaks like thunderbolt!
Sent from my GT-I9000
MIUI mint berry and via rom toolbox clocked into 1,3ghz
I´m on JVZ with Semaphore 2.1.1 and overclocked CPU (1300 mhz). This motor is fast, stable and smooth.
Hey!
2.3.6 is very good!
you should test at the beginn of your "Flash carrier" a few Roms + Kernels.

Look, if you want a rom that supports custom themes, mods and other tweaks, then go for stock JVT or some custom rom. But it is undeniable that gingerbread will always lag slightly on the galaxy s due to low ram. Heck, it even lacks on the nexus s.
In reality, if you want a lag-free (and I really mean LAG-FREE) rom, you should go for Froyo 2.2.1 roms. Froyo roms were meant for 512mb of ram, and they work flawlessly on the galaxy s. ZSJPK 2.2.1 never lagged on my SGS.
And just to be clear, ram is indeed the limiting factor to smoothness on our phone. On Gingerbread, free ram is less than 100mb after a day's usage, and so the phone has to constantly close and reopen background processes while you're using it. If I'm not mistaken, the default kernels begin to close apps and processes once ram drops below 64mb. Eg: Free ram is 100mb. You open the browser which uses 20mb, and then when you load facebook which uses another 20mb, the free ram has dropped below 60, so while processing the webpage, the cpu has to simultaneously close background processes. Then when you leave fb, the cpu reopens those processes. Hence, the phone lags.
But on Froyo, there's up to 180mb of ram on boot, and somehow ram consumption after prolonged use is not that high, so it can last for days with over 120mb of ram and hence never lags.
In conclusion, the only viable solution to lag that I have experienced so far is by using froyo 2.2.1 roms, especially the later builds like ZSJPK or the other one which name I cannot remember. Things like voodoo lagfixes don't really help (unless you're on eclair) and custom rom tweaks are really just placebo effects actually.

Wrong thread. Also there is tonnes of information a single google search away on how to root your phone. One way is to download Odin and then flash a rooted kernal such as CF-Root onto the phone from Download mode.
Hello,
I am looking for a stable GM Rom with everything working for a friends Galaxy Mini.
I will not be home for several months so he will not be able to modify smth as she doesn't know how to flash Roms etc.
Thanks in advance.
The Gxy Mini is on Stock 2.1. Anything special i should know before flashing?
I believe you first have to upgrade to Gingerbread before flashing custom roms. Also, install clockworkmod recovery via Odin before flashing custom roms.
That's about it really.
A pretty nice rom that sticks close to default is Chocobread. (Current emanom is too buggy right now, although v6 is in the making).
. Installed Stock 2.3.6 then Creed's Rev. 1.3. Interesting that the contacts didn't sync from 2.1. Then, (didn't checked on PC before) i found out that i have no phone contacts on the Google account although i synced them on the old 2.1 before wipe.
Creeds ROM feels laggy than stock 2.3.6 somtimes. I overclocked it to 710 mHz. Angry Birds Space doesn't load past the "Space birds" loading screen.
I told her to test it for a few days but i consider other options?
mebitek's cm7 rc 1 or kitten's cm7 base on mebitek's deodexed or MORe v3
i would recommend Stock ROM!

If your friend is not a techno wiz then i would suggest why don't you flash stock rom.

Theres no risk of bricking. You may even root this stock rom using odin if you wish or even flash cwm.
Hit thanks if it helps!
Hello, first, you can call me noob.
I'm using my Optimus 2X with stock rom 2.2.2 and this is one that gives me the best scores at benchmarks (don't know why ?). When using 2.3.4, it's lagging when scrolling menus and benchmarks scores are smaller.
But soon, I will need my cam to take the best videos possible while keeping the best battery life possible (like the stock rom which is good I think).
What is the best ROM (very good battery life, lag free) I should install with full accelerated GPU for video playing and encoding (1080p), that I can install a modded camera with ?
Also, what modded camera should I use ?
To finish, what's the install procedure from stock 2.2.2 to rooted phone + new ROM ? (I'm using Smartflash to install stock ROM but i have no idea about the modded ROMs)
There are so many threads, I don't know what to do :silly:
Can anyone sum it up for me in a easy step by step process ?
Thanks and sorry for my english.
