better yet, dont ask the same question that has been asked 100 times. read the FAQ
Better yet, post the question in the related thread after you read the answers link to the first page of that thread. This is not the Q & A thread neither, it's the Development section.

How to root my phone

This is my first time doing this. I want to know how to root my phone so I can get android 2.2. I would also like to know which one is the best rom that will make my phone better overall. Any help will be gladly appreciated. If you want also send me links on how to do
the first thing you wanna do it learn to search, then read the stickies that are posted at the top. then try asking in the correct forums like the Q&A for example, try there first, this is a thread for DEVELOPING not asking questions that have been answered 12567357/9718497749189 times
http://romrepo.info/wiki has a writeup on rooting and flashing AOSPGB 0.2.0 Gingerbread

Questions as such should be posted in the appropriate section of this forum.
Typically in the Q&A thread.
Just an FYI for future reference...
Peace-
Thanks for the link. I'm not familiar with setting this up. Once it downloads what else should I do to set it up

I don't understand. This isn't the dev forum. Why does his question have to be dev-related to be in Q&A?

the first step is to learn how to read the dozens of threads already open about this exact subject
here's install instructions for Cezar's Continuum rom:
http://www.team-continuum.net/home/index.php?topic=17.0
you may need to create a profile on that forum in order to view that thread (not sure)
however - generally speaking, most devs post up a how-to in their own ROM thread so you should be able to follow their's specifically
Search and research
While you're reading, make 10000000000% sure that you read this sentence:
WHEN FLASHING 2.3 YOU ARE FLASHING BOOTLOADERS. THERE IS A VERY REAL RISK OF HARD BRICKING YOUR PHONE. MAKE SURE YOU COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS TO THE LETTER.
Happy upgrading.
Please search before opening a new thread.

[Q] Root Stock 2.3.4 Captivate

I recently put the stock 2.3.4 build on and want to root. Superoneclick does not work anymore. How can I do it?
Come on now !?!? Search the Q & A and/or Development Section Before starting a new thread. (And a Question thread goes in the Q & A section)...... Please and thank you. See this Fugu Root Method [MOD] FuguRoot: root _any_ stock SGS ROM safely (froyo, GB)
edit: Pm sent to reinbeau to move to correct forum.
Please use the search function - this question has been answered over and over in this forum - and the question, if it has to be asked at all, belongs here, in Q&A, not development. Thread closed.
