After updating to Gingerbread, the signal bar goes from full to nothing.
I also cant access 3G speeds now.........
Mt network provider is AT&T
and I pay a monthly data plan for it too
can anybody help? :/
In settings, about device, wjat is your baseband? The last three characters should be JK3.
Did you flash the correct modem.bin?
Did you insert your sim correctly?
Did you check your apn setting ( settings, wireless settings, mobile network, apn)?

Hey,
i flashed the I9000XWJG5 Firmware and now i do not get 3g to work. I used an o2 UK Sim and do net get a data connection (before it was always 3g) and no 3g connection with orange too, just gprs.
Has anyone an idea, what i can do?
--- update ---
also only o2 uk sim is edge where before was 3g.
Made a test with my htc hero (Villainrom 12), same place, same sim card and i got 3g.
and 'only 2g' is NOT activated on the samsung galaxy s
You need to configure your mobile operators' APNs.
it is configured properly. so settings are correct. i am not the only one with the problem. i read it on various threads but couldnt find a post with the solution so far.

You're holding it... wait, no, just manually re-enter the APN settings, because flashing firmware will wipe them out. also try factory reset, if that won't help.
3g will popup immediately when you have put in the correct APN settings. Trust me.

As i said with an htc hero, same settings, it works, with the samsung galaxy it doesnt. so i can assume that the settings are correct
htc hero = 3g
samsung galaxy s = 2g
Could it be you are roaming (you see an R with the reception bars). By default it will not use 3G when roaming. You can turn it on in settings. I have a Dutch Telfort sim and KPN took over Telfort. So i am on the KPN network now and my phone always thinks i am roaming.

Pay as you go or contract? Have you checked the APN entries as they differ on O2.

payasyougo and i changed the the user to payandgo.o2.co.uk also user to payandgo.
works fine in htc hero with 3g, not on samsung galaxy, just 2g
Flashed another Code(CODE_I9000XWJFF) and radio(MODEM_I9000XXJF8.tar) and 3g worked again.
then tried just flash the code (CODE_I9000XWJG5) and it still works. so i guess the radio (MODEM_I9000XXJG1) does not work for my samsung galaxy s properly
when i look now in the settings of 'about phone' i see
baseband version I9000XXJF8 and
Build Number ECLAIR.XWJG5
Does anyone think i will have a problem with that combination?
This is a small issue but is anyone using ICS with a MVNO? I have a Virgin mobile SIM which uses the Everything Everywhere network in the UK (Orange/T-Mobile).
When the phone is using the orange network the notification drawer correctly displays this, but when on the T-Mobile network 'No service' is displayed.

Since you managed to flash ICS on your device I suppose you're comfortable doing some more hacking
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12693880&postcount=5
Maybe look at the file first and check if your provider is the one mentioned in the Finland section.
We are now in build 13 and we still get that roaming icon if we are using a MVNO
this method didn't work for me
I have the same problem with spanish Yoigo
Teamhacksung ICS MVNO roaming problem
same problem on build 16
HELP please !!
anything new about MVNO support? on my galaxy nexus in ics MVNO works without a hack, it`s not treated like a roaming network. somewhere in the process of porting to I9000 this stock ics behavior got lost. would be nice to have a better solution then switching data off in frontier areas.
Hi,
I have just updated my Note from stock gingerbread to the official UK ICS 4.04 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997 using Odin.
The phone is now running XXLRK (kernel and baseband) - it's not rooted at this time.
Everything is working fine except that I have no mobile data connection. Wifi and voice calling is fine though.
The Network Signal App shows that I have an HSDPA (7.2Mbit/s) net type but the data state is 'Disconnected'. I have confirmed that 'Use packet data' is on in the network settings and I have re-entered the (Vodafone Contract) APN settings several times.
I have put the SIM in a spare phone and data works as expected.
Any ideas?
Thanks

have you tried checking data usage under 'Settings'? , usually there's a capped set if your way over the pre-determine data cap on the phone. Try to raise the bar all the way up and see if you can gain data connection again.

I'm not sure if it helps at all(in relevance to the OP's issues), bear in mind apn settings are different in every carriers. Manually configuring doesnt' change anything at all... even worse, your just aggravating more his problem.

Thanks to both of you - the APN settings are confirmed as correct.
The data usage sits solidly at 0. I have disabled the cap, but even with it turned on and set at 5GB (my cap is 1GB but since we're only 7 days into the month there's no way I have exceeded it), it makes no difference.
I have confirmed with Vodafone that everything should work.
I have also tried a couple of previous radio images without success. At the moment I have just pulled the battery and I am waiting an hour or so before firing up the phone again.
If I can't fix this soon I might just revert back to stock Gingerbread, but I get the feeling the fix should be really simple.
FIXED!!
I added a new APN to the list and just duplicated the Vodafone Contract settings that I know work. This new APN setup was identical to the pre-defined one (which I had been editing) - but it works!!!.
Stick that one in the memory bank for possible future use!

Hi, I have the Indian version of the Lenovo K3 note (K50a40), and recently installed the official OTA android 6.0 marshmallow update. Everything on the phone appears to be working, including calling and texting (on T-Mobile), except for data connection. Before the update, I would be able to connect to and receive H+ from T-mobile in the USA, but now, even with full bars, the phone lacks data connection. I tried enabling roaming and changing the APN to no avail. Can someone please offer any advice? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I fixed the issue. for some reason, the update messes up the APN settings. To fix this, google the APN settings for your carrier. Make sure that they are the settings for 4g or LTE. Then, on your device, go to settings>data usage>more>mobile network>access point names>new APN, and enter the information you just looked up. You may need to restart the phone.

Hi, your solution does not fixes this issue (((
hi
i got the phone from korea, the problem is when connecting to 4G the phone would lose internet and calls then lose the network, i get a message saying "failed to register to network (15)" but if i forced the phone to connect to 3G then it works fine. here's what i tried to fix the problem :
turning off the mobile network then turning it on
resetting the network settings
removing NR Whitelist
and none of them fixed the issue. there's a korean menu in the service mode, but i didn't miss with it. i have attached screen shots of the software information and the korean menu in the service menu.
Who provides your service? Have you tried going into network settings and APN and see what that says
If it is a Korean phone and you aren't in Korea and it is locked into the network then you won't be able to get service somewhere else I don't think
