There are only certain default functions I use on my Galaxy S.
For example, I only use the Gmail App and not the Built in Samsung Email App.
I would like to remove the default email app but is it safe to do so!
There are other things like the Samsung Memo App. I want to remove this as I only use Evernote for all my notes.
Can these built in Galaxy S apps be removed safely without affecting the phone.
Both of those apps are safe to remove
I tried to find an uninstall button but can't find it?

You have to remove it with Root Explorer or similar apps.

1) is easy. Use a root explorer and rename/delete the files /system/media/audio/poweron/poweron.mp3 and /system/media/audio/poweroff/poweroff.mp3.
2) Not sure exactly what you mean. If you want to force the phone to only use google contacts or if you want to delete the contact program alltogether (which means you must install another contact manager yourself.) Please explain what you're trying to achieve.
Thank you for the first answer.
Regarding the second one. I want to only use google contacts. Now by default if i create a new contact it is stored as local lg storage and i need to change it to my google account manually. I like the contacts app itself just not the lg integration in it.

Then 2) is just as easy, you need to freeze/uninstall "LG PC Suite".
Double thanks. That worked perfectly!

Hey guys, I decided to go back to a stock rom for a bit and am in the midst of removing the bloatware from the phone, just have one question.
Has anybody been able to remove the stock Facebook and Twitter apps? I can't seem to find them listed in Titanium to either freeze or uninstall. Are they not called Facebook and Twitter?
Any help is appreciated.
The ghetto-fabulous LG Facebook app is called SNS (Social Network Service)....freeze that with Titanium and it's done.

Perfect that worked, thanks. Any idea about the stock twitter app?
That one app got rid of both the Facebook and twitter apps for me.

1. Why uninstall? Never uninstall system apps if not sure it will work. There are apps that can freeze apps, then simply unfreeze if needed. Titanium backup can do this and much more like backup.
2. Don't know, never used launcher pro, xperia launcher are the best Imo
3. Choose yes to use wifi, and use an app to set it to use in eg Europe, Japan or wherever....search in xda for like gps faster fix.
As for 1 there's also a list on the web stating which system apps can be deleted or not. You risk fc and apps mot working properly as they depend on another, easy freezy are also an app to use for freezing apps
Easiest for you would be to install a custom rom, you need clockwork mod recovery and root then. Pm me if you need a guide
Thanks for the sugestion now i have reinstalled messaging app and disable it using root app delete
Now want one more thing to ask

Lg home(i am using launcher pro)
Browser (using dolphin)
Hidden menu-use it very rarely
Rsstarter- don't know what is this for !!
Plz reply
Thanks once again

I'd advice you to keep from freezing / uninstalling apps if you don't know what they're for. It's not like you will get a huge performance improvement if you delete these, so I'd let them be.
You can freeze the LG launcher (or uninstall it if you want) as long as you have another launcher installed. This is required, otherwise you're in for disaster.
Thanks for a very quick reply
Just wanted to say after freezing some of the apps that i donf use i got a very good ram space and i feel that my device is now working much faster
Now what about freezing browser and lge hidden menu
And yeah what is rsstarter ??
thanks

It's for the Remote Screen service. If you don't use it, you don't need rsstarter. I removed it with no evident side effects.
BTW, thanks to SuperSkill I learned something new -- I didn't understand before what exactly "freezing" meant...
Thanks freezed it successfully..!
and yeah +1 to superskill from mr as well

I used to use with varying degrees of success TB to freeze or even uninstall stuff.
I 'uninstalled' the other day g+, Facebook, and other similar things, they are back..
Might it be the TB doesn't work on this device?
Thanks

You have to flash a kernel that supports write access to the system partition, or create a flashable zip to remove the systems apps, or.remove.them via adb.
The stock kernel doesnt support write access so any changes you make are reverted on reboot.

Great, thanks!
I think I have heard this one awhile ago, forgot about it.
I would like to keep it close to stock, is there a kernel that, say, only grants the write access to system?

Thanks, didn't know about this option, hope disabled things stay that way.

What apps that comes with the phone are safe to disable?? Like the remote app etc etc??
All apps can be disabled if you so choose.
If it lets you disable it and you dont need it then go ahead and disanble away. If you're trying to uninstall or delete thats a different story.
