I have nokia5800 and I'm getting i9000 in a few days. I want to move all my SMS, calendar and contacts to my new phone. What's the best and easiest way to transfer them all safely over to SGS? I searched for this and found one website that would do it but it says "beta ended" and can't do **** in that site....
use google account to sync contacts and sms migrator to sync sms.. so at the end both sms and contacts are transferred from ur symbian to android platform!!
So how do I do this sync with my google account? Do I have to use PC or can it be done directly from the 5800? And about the SMS migrator, is that on the phone or have to use pc?
Sorry for double post but I really need help with this!

Ok so I've had my Kaiser for a few days now. Apparently you have to have outlook to sync contacts from your pc. Well I have a CSV file full of my contact from my old phone. BUT i don't have outlook. I don't want to buy outlook. I have outlook express, windows contacts. (I don't see why i have to buy outlook but whatever). So I found an alternative to outlook, Google Sync. Seems to work ok. I just had to fully update my contacts on google. ANYHOW does any use this to sync contacts? If so is there a way to push contact updates from phone to Google contacts. I only seem to be able to push contacts from Google to my phone. Thanks.
NICE, is this done online?
Is it done online? It uses exchange server. It takes your google contacts and syncs them to your phone. But what happens if you add a contact to your phone? I don't think it updates your Google contacts, or at least I can't figure out how. Seems kinda pointless if you cant sync contacts both ways. But what else is someone supposed to do if they don't have outlook?
I use Google sync and the contacts transfer from my phone back to Google and vice versa. It's only the contacts saved on my phone though, not the SIM.
Is there anyway to remove all the windows live messenger contacts in the contacts? Its REALLY annoying because I have 500 people on my MSN list.
Basically I just want all the contacts from Sim Manager only to be viewed in the contacts screen. How can I do it?
sync with outlook delete all live contacts
sync again with the setting make the pda like windows option
first backup outlook's pst file to be sure
and don't use the version of msn msg which auto add it's contacts
to contacts
I'm sorry your explenation confused me.
How do I sync with Outlook?
If I have to sync with my PC that doesn't work for some reason. I get an Error in the Active Sync software everytime I try.
I got it to sync with activesync and it said it synced my contacts succesfully.
But where are they? And it only seemed to sync 120 contacts. If all my MSN contacts are in my contact list on my phone there should be 500+
*bump*
please guys i really need some help with this. Its becoming frustrating going through a list of 500 to make a call.
hello, I'm switching from my beloved touch pro to the nexus one, but don't want to manually put all of my contacts to my new phone. is there a way for me to export all my contacts from windows myphone contacts to google and to the nexus. i tried just importing my contacts through my live account, but that only pulled the email contacts and not all of my phone contacts. I'll take forever to do it manually, and if I save them to my sim, I'll lose a lot of info. any help? I'm lost at this point.
I looked for a solution to this for a days. The best solution is http://www.spritesoftware.com/products/migrate/how-does-it-work- up to now.
thanks. looks like exactly what I was looking for. I'll give it a try and report back.
I found that installing Google Mobile App on my Touch Diamond2 synced all my contacts to my Google Account and therefore automatically appeared on my N1.

There's many ways of doing this....
If any of these apply you can try any of these...
First you can just import them using bluetooth I'm sure. You could just 'mark all' or select all your contacts in your phone book on your phone and just send them using bluetooth to the nexus.
You could also import them into Outlook express and save them as a file and import them into gmail under contacts in gmail.
Or you could set up an extra gmail account and sync your phone's contacts to that account using Google sync and then export those contacts as a file and import them back into your main gmail account or keep them there and use that account to sync with your nexus.
Sorry for making it sound confusing but I'm coming off a symbian S60 V5... I know there's many ways of doing this
I dropped my HTC Touch Diamond down a storm drain, so I'm replacing it with the HTC EVO. My phone synced a day or 2 before, so I have all of my contacts online with Microsoft My Phone. I see no "export" option anywhere on the page. Any help/suggestions for retrieving and importing into the new phone?
I think the easiest way is to set up your gmail account as an exchange account on your Windows Mobile phone and set it to sync mail and contacts.
http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299
Then once you set up your N1, your contacts will sync automatically. I love this feature from Google as much as any other. You will never lose your contacts again, no matter what happens to your phone. Also, you can edit and add contacts in your gmail account online and they automatically appear on your phone.
DejaOffice will sync your Nexus contacts to Outlook via USB without going through the google cloud.
Is there a solution for exporting contacts from myPhone? I have broken my TD2 and my TD1 so I can't use that to sync the contacts to the phone and export them. If I could I would probably sync all my old text messages as well.
I am embarking on an approx 30 min task of copying and pasting all my 400 contacts from MyPhone to excel then I can import them. At least I get to tidy up my contacts and remove any duplicates.

This was great.. man u really helped me out..
I'm an android noob, just came over from the iPhone camp so please bear with me..
I've had the sgs for a couple of days and so far been trying to get a good handle on managing my contacts...
I used to backup / sync my iphone in itunes and my company outlook. I had a recent backup of my contacts in outlook, so the easiest way to get them on the android was to sync them over...
Now they show up in my corporate group.
Then I sync'd my facebook and it did a decent job of linking most of my contacts (I really like the way android does this as opposed to iphone)
I also had a recent list of contacts on my sim since I had been iphone-less for a couple of months and was using the old nokia flipper.
Now I have a couple of questions...
I've got my contacts display options only showing me the corporate and facebook groups (with phone numbers) .. so the list looks good !!! however when I send or receive a text message, it also shows all my sim contacts. A few of my sms threads were linked to the sim contact (only first name, no picture etc) .. the only way i found to resolve this was to delete that particular contact off my sim...
question 1) how do you delete all sim contacts ? (couldnt find a select all)
question 2) do I really have to delete my sim contacts? or can I disable it altogether so it won't show anywhere in my phone
question 3) next time I get some cute girl's phone number, it'll get stored as a "phone" contact .. how do I keep my corporate (outlook) contacts in sync with phone contacts... or can I put her number right in the corporate (outlook) group so it stays in sync with my exchange account ..
I don't want to end up with a bunch of numbers as phone contacts and another bunch as outlook / corporate contacts. I'd like to be able to back it all up somehow (like itunes would backup the iphone and sync with outlook)
Thanks for your insight and wisdom
if you are having trouble using Kies to manage your contacts, you can try this better alternative
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765081
I installed android manager .. still no way to delete all sim contacts !!! amazes me why such a simple task is just not possible...
well good thing i have my 8 year old nokia phone that does it for me
Also annoying that I cant just turn off sim contacts so I won't have to delete all of them (another thing 8 year old nokia just does!)
indeed we have apps like this
http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.shao.Copy2SIM
to copy contacts to SIM
but we have nothing to manage contacts from SIM
LOL
That's cool .. I plugged the sim in the nokia and wiped all of its contacts .. not the android doesnt get confused anymore..
now if i could only find that patch to fix my sms time stamps .. i'd be a happy android camper.. I tried 3rd party sms apps, but they dont seem to read my "exchange corporate" contacts .. so every text shows with just the phone number .. sigh
to hide your sim contacts on samsung galaxy S use the options :
contacts->menu->display option->choose contacts to display "UNCHECK SIM"
hope this helps
well...since we now have WP7 added to the game, I think a software or a method to transfer contacts, messages, email accounts etc...between android and WP7 (and WM 6.5x if possible too) is necessary, so we can freely move between all these OSes or using more than one at the same time (personally, I'll go with WP7 on NAND and android on SD best of both worlds)
I'm not a software dev so I can't do it, but I'm ready to donate for a software/service like that and I think many of you will agree with me
If you want to keep your contacts synchronized between two OSes then i would recommend that you use your gmail you are able to sync contacts fro mgmail with both android and wp7
On another note: you are not able to run WP7 of NAND AND android from the SD card at the same time, as the way android ran from SD before was through a emulator for windows mobile.

yup I know gmail can sync contacts, I can even copy them to the SIM card. the main concern here is SMS messages
lol I didn't mean AT the same time of course but now we can boot android from SD card right from MAGLDR so I can choose to boot either this or that
I'm afraid that Syncing SMS messages between the 2 different OS may not be possible.
I agree with Hojlind about GMail though. This is how I synced my contacts/calendar to and from WM and Android. Instantly updates the calendar and contacts on both OS's.

yea I know, what i meant is using a 3rd party app (a version for android and another for WP7 to backup/restore SMS back and forth) or a dedicated online service or something like that
I'm afraid there is none at the moment. I would love to see an app restore/backup sms to the gmail as this is what I am having on the android. If that can be achieved then I can switch freely between the 2 OS without worries
hi all
is there any program in wp7 that can import vcf (outlook contacts) into cell phone?
I mean direct import without any internet service.
No Direct Import.
You can email the vcf file to yourself. Other than that, you can copy the vcf to your pictures folder, gain access by following the steps here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915664
Then install Touch Xplorer and move the file from pictures to the documents folder. from there go to Office ..... open the file, Any way something like that.
Your best bet,
Connect your phone using wifi, email the file to yourself as an attachment.

For Contact, calendar and E-mail i use Gmail
For SMS:
In Android install "sms-backup" app, this will back-up all your SMS to your Gmail account under a SMS label in your mail. This label can be accessed within the mail application of WP7.
Hope this helps
It seems that SMSSyncUp <forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625378> has done the first half of the job by sync WM 6.5 SMS to gmail.
Could anyone programme the second half? I tried some Android programmes (e.g. SMS Backup +) which sync Android SMS with gmail, but the data aren't compatible...

thanks that's an interesting way
but i want to save them as normal SMS, that can be forwarded and so on...
It would be cool, if we can put the sms to our sim cards. together with dual boot with android, it sounds ... nice
I have one probelm, I used Win 6.5 and used save my contacts "PIM BACKUP".
How I can move to my contacts Windows Mobile 7?
