When trying to download onto my phone from the Market, I get an error message 'Package file was not signed correctly.'
I'm running Cyanogen 4.2.5 on my Rogers Magic 32A.
Doesn't work for me in denmark
I think this is only US.
It's been released for the Market on all devices, but I think it has something to do with our devices using test-keys and not release-keys...
Thoughts?
Same problem in Belgium with 32A using CyanogenMod 4.2.5 with Kernel 2.6.29bfs.
Very sad
working fantastic on my MT3G running Dwang 1.13. Didn't get an 'update available' notification, but installing it from the market worked flawlessly. I gotta say, navigation with google layers is freakin' awesome

I have the same phone and ROM version and it updated just fine from the Market. However, I did push the software to my phone, following the instructions here. Not sure if that's why it works without issue.
So i guess its confirmed that this is still US only. BAH
"Some features of Android 2.0 are not available on Android 1.6, for example, the ability to use the "navigate to" voice command as shown in our demo video. However, you can still create a shortcut that will allow you to launch Navigation and start getting directions to a specific place from your current location with just a single touch from your home screen."

ugh...
If it is US only, why did they not restrict it to the US on the market ? Or maybe that's technically not possible with the current market configuration ?

Or you can search the Market for 'Nav Launcher' and it will enable these features through an external application. Works fine for me.
Same issue on a Mytouch 3G (32B,) in the US and also running Cyanogen 4.2.5.
This is a fresh install of cyanogen as well (literally nothing more than the 1.6 base image and then the cyanogen update.)
I'm also getting the "package not signed" error. Not sure what the problem is. Running CyanogenMod Android 1.6, but I honestly don't remember what version of Cyanogen it is.
This official update no different than the 1.6 hacked Maps w/Navigation that was pulled from the Droid dump.
Even if you can get it installed, you still need to use either Directions shortcuts or the Nav Launcher to get it working outside the US.
I keep getting errors cannont remove / no such file or directory
on cyan 4.2.5 seams like nothing different from 2.0 droid nav
I sure do wish that people stop giving apps 1 start because it doesn't work on cyanogenmod..... these are precisely the people that bring down heat on developers with their crying. God forbid they have to do a search on the net... and, dare I say, read 3 lines of text.
People need to realize we are not flashing official software here, and so we have no right to b*tch if something that's made for official software doesn't work on our hacked ones. There is not one dev here that I can remember who doesn't clearly say that if you break your phone it's your responsibility, not his, or the manufacturers. That's why we have this community here, if you're having problems most members here will help you out however they can because that's what this place is about tweaking our equipment as much as possible and fixing it when we mess up. I would say most people here enjoy helping others out with tech related stuff, I know I do in whatever way possible, but I have no sympathy for those that can't be a$$ed to read a few lines and just want to flash their phones with total disregard of what could happen.
How do you think google feels everytime they see a one star rating on one of their apps, or any other app, that works perfectly fine on official images when the person comments "DIS SUXXORS, IT B NOT WORKING ON C.M 4.2.5"? It's a miracle they didn't crack down on cyanogen much sooner than they did. PLEASE, PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE if you have issues with something you downloaded from XDA or any other site on the net that deals with this kind of stuff, don't go complaining to your mobile carrier, or whoever developed your mobile's official software; come here and ask for help... besides 99% of the time I'm fairly sure that we'll do a much better job of helping than anybody you can contact from your mobile carrier, or official developers. Also, if you brick you're phone be responsible for you're mistake; don't try to be sly and send it in because it's not working to your dev because again this only attracts unnecessary attention to this site. I'm fairly sure that cease & desist that xda received from MS a few years back was due to precisely this.
I've customized windows mobile, palm, symbian, android phones, plus ps1, ps2, ps3, psp, wii, and so far I've never brick anything, or at least not to the point I can't bring it back, so does this mean I'm super lucky? or super smart? Not really, it's quite simple really my secret is this: READ, Read like your equipment depended on it because quite frankly IT DOES.
Sorry for the rant guys, it's not directed at any one of you, but maybe just maybe one of these "people" will find it and correct themselves. I'd actually wish the mods would post something on the main page, but then again who am I kidding the problem originally arises from them not reading in the first place.
I agree.
Also not working on my phone (32a Magic). Currently looking for a work around.
I have searched for:
Google
Google Maps
Google Maps Navigation
Navigation
Etc, Etc, Etc...
and can NOT find this version in the market???
I updated to the latest "Google Maps" from the market, but it does not have the NAV Features.
AHA!
Redownloaded and now get the "Package Not Signed" error as well.
CyanogenMod-4.2.5
So I know this has been an issue since at least the G1, and that there's a sort of workaround either using Linda File Mgr for Gmail uploads or use the Opera browser. Most of the posts out there on this issue are old now so apologies if I've missed something current sifting through everything...
Does a patch/fix/hack exist yet for the unrooted N1/2.1 to correct what seems to be a perpetual Google "beta" bug they have no interest in addressing? I mean, my world won't end if I can't upload a new pic to Facebook or video to Youtube, but it's a glaring omission from an otherwise great handset. Or is it an intentional nod to the carriers for bandwidth sake?
OK so, duh. I realized that if you long press on a photo or video in the gallery then click 'share' it gives you a bunch of options for places to upload to.
However...it's still extremely lame to not be able to upload anything from the stock browser, e.g., uploading pics to a blog or non-sponsored service when that uploading has to happen via the site's form (as opposed to FTP). I know Flash 10.whatever is a part of that, but plenty of sites use Java to handle uploads. Maybe that's what I'm missing...maybe the 'Upload Disabled' button shows up automatically on the Flash sites and I just haven't come across a Java-based site yet.
I would love to see this fixed soon, but just as an FYI, the fix has been committed to the Android source (not yet in AOSP) for Froyo:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2519#c112
Bump.... is this fixed in Froyo? If so can it be back ported to 2.1?
Confirmed working in stock Froyo. I can upload images, music tracks, sound clips to popular websites (e.g. Rapidshare).

Awesome!!
Are you using the stock browser? Does it only allow you access to the sdcard?
Yep, stock browser.
From the looks of it, yes it does only allow me to access the SD card. I'm also limited to the categories I mentioned above (there's no "Other" option).
what a crock...

Hi guys, I have just found out that a skype video call software is out for HTC thunderbolt but can anyone crack it to use it on our SGS?
The apk can be found here:
http://lts.cr/YAV
I hope this is not a repeat thread, before it was EVO which got video calling but I guess it was exclusively for some US network!
Thanks!
Bump-age
Hope so. Or even to fix the Gtalk video calling so we can use the front camera.
Skype video calling is WAY WAY WAY overdue. I know it not the fault of anyone here though.
Screw Skype. If they don't want to cater to Android users, I don't want to use them either.
When posts talk about skype and android being a no go , is it the general skype app or does this take into account
the skype on three app.The three one works just fine with a three sim card in.
Edit. Sorry bout this post, must have been half asleep last night, the word video didn't register in my brain as being the actual post subject, I just saw skype.
Has anyone tried Qik? Skype purchased it recently and my bet is we'll see the two combined before long.

What do you mean they don't cater for Android ?? Video call support is nice to have, but for most users (including me) voice call support is enough; except for few GUI bugs they have done a pretty decent job with Android Skype app, far better than what Nimbuzz or Fring ever did for Skype voice. Besides, only iOS has video support, that too was added late last year. IMO they will eventually add video support.
I don't understand why they haven't added it to the Android app yet.
I once thought it was because of missing front-camera API's that Google only recently introduced in Gingerbread, but that can't be the reason, since there are a lot of other apps that allow video-calling and work on Froyo.
I wouldn't bother with Skype anyway, were it not for the sheer number of users and the presence on virtually all platforms.
People are begging for a true multiplattform app that allows videocalling to any device (not only iPhone to Mac or Android to GMail).
And since a lot of people use Skype, it's just the easiest way to go (until Facebook introduces video-calling, whicht won't take too long I'm guessing).
Anyway, enough of this, I hope somebody can modify the mentioned app and make it work on our SGS.
Yahoo messenger supports video calls if you guys really want video support between a PC and Andoid/iOS.
Some ppl have already tried to get it working on other phones here. But looks like they have given up on it.

Will we get official mango update for htc hd 7?
I'm asking because it's ready and has been shipped to carriers for testing.
But news mention just nokia, and fujitsi.
So what about htc hd 7?
Of course we will. Not like Android, which chooses which phones will be updated. Official will be for all Windows phones!
Since its been shipped to carriers for testing have they given an actual date as opposed to the fall season.
The current version is beta, not for resale as it says on the windows screen when the phone starts. Certain things don't work and are not enabled including API's. Official version will be very soon, possibility as it looks is September, but no official word from Microsoft. Running mango myself, it is ready for release, few small glitches here and there lime html5 implementation API not working yet but is there. All the rest is fine. Volume now is loud and speakerphone is useful once again, as well as the volume steps are changed from 10 to 20 now. All the new hubs and custom hubs as email work great. Search, new look and feel market, people, photos, social integration, Facebook chat not yet. It is there but only redirects to Facebook. WiFi,3g, bt all work much better. Visual voice mail not available in this beta build. For anyone installing the test beta, please note that this. version will not upgrade to the official mango. One will have to revert to no-do first. All settings will be lost.
Microsoft has taken the Apple approach here, so almost all windows phones will get the MANGO update.
AS mentioned above its looking to come around september/October, unless you have a carrier branded phone which might push it a couple of months more, as Microsoft lets them test it for their networks.
It rumoured RTM is almost ready to be shipped so hopefully we on target.
Tried the mango beta and looks really promising.
Has anyone heard about WiFi calling?

Visual Voicemail works for me... And I do notice the volume is loader (thank god) but I don't see me being able to go to 20 instead of 10.....
Anybody verify this? Volume was always a big issue, especially plugging in to external speakers and such through the audio jack.

When you say the volume is louder do you mean when a headset or headphones are in? Also are they iphone/ipod loud?
What version of the beta are you running 2 or 1?

Microsoft wants a full blown complete update in one shot. Whether carrier branded or not as of RTM the carriers also have their time to test it so given that mid to late October is about three months from now I do believe everyone will be receiving the update regardless of carrier branding.
Even if Hd7 gets official Mango update, it will be a while before the users start seeing it. I would assume the new devices will get more attention for carriers.
If no new phones come out then its probably safe to say yes. If new phones with the mango update come out then its probably a no.
Does anyone know which FM Radio chip the Note has ?
My guess is a Silicon Labs dedicated FM chip, as is in the Galaxy S and S2 models. Perhaps it's accessible via /dev/fmradio.
If you call 5" a tablet, I think this Note may be the first major manufacturer tablet with officially supported FM radio. There are some esoteric Chinese tabs that support FM, and the original Dell Streak 5" has FM, but was never officially supported.
Can someone try the FM TwoO app and report if it works ? : https://market.android.com/details?id=ca.gc.crc.fmtwoo
I am also very interested to know if my FM app runs on this device, rooted or not: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mikersmicros.fm
Thanks !
Someone has sent me debug logs (Thanks !) so I don't need any more. This device does have a Silicon Labs FM chip, and it appears that my app is working, although the emailer didn't say. He set Menu->Settings->Audio->Method to "Samsung2". It's possible "Samsung" would also work on a stock device.
Other than my curiousity about FM TwoO working, my question is answered. I'm tempted to close this thread, since I'm not here to try and promote my app, but I'll leave it open for now at least, should anyone want to discuss FM on this device, as appropriate for a Q & A forum. (?)
BTW, I get the impression that the Samsung FM app is better than other stock FM apps. It supports RDS, and I think AF, and on this device at least it seems to support recording, which I'm not sure any other FM app does.
hello
as i was already searching for any alternative FM Radio app that does not stream from the internet as there are millions and millions of streaming apps out there it was impossible for me to find them in the android market.
I liked the alternative radio app for my old Windows Mobile Device.
Now i own a Galaxy Note and tried the two apps
FM TwoO and Spirit FM Free.
It finds Radio Stations etc. But i get no sound from both apps.
I think i tried every possible sound setting.
I have Root on my Device but everything else is stock.
Is it supposed to not work on the Stock rom or can i help you with something like a debug output so your app can work on this device?
Just tell me

Hi. There are almost no alternative FM apps for Android because Google refused and still refuses to provide an API. Just about every phone and chip manufacturer does FM differently and keeps their methods secret so it requires reverse engineering, which is very difficult and time consuming.
The CyanogenMod and MIUI ROMs have their own FM apps (for some devices only). FM TwoO works on some Galaxy S/S2 stock ROMs. My app Spirit tries to work on as many ROMs and chips etc. as feasible.

Finding stations etc. is the first obstacle. I'm happy to hear this works OK.
Sound is always the second obstacle; so many phones do this differently, even otherwise somewhat similar phones as Galaxy S and S2.
If the Audio Methods Samsung and Samsung2 don't work, we need a new Samsung3 method I guess. I think the S2 has the same issue. If I examine the stock FM app, and perhaps some logs, I should be able to determine what needs to be done.
Can you do this ? :
- Start the stock FM app, run for a few seconds, then stop it.
- Start my app, then send me logs with Menu->Help->EM Logs. In the email text please put "Galaxy Note" before pressing Send.
BTW, the stock S2/Note FM app seems pretty good, so I don't think you are missing too much from alternative apps at this time.
Also, I think my app may "work", more or less, if you start it while the stock app is running. I think the apps can co-exist simultaneously, but there are probably a few issues.
hello and thanks for your response.
You are right. The stock radio app is a lot better then the stock radio app on my windows mobile phone was. But still i dont like for example the really short textfield where the RDS text is written when the phone is in portait mode because most of the text is missing. It is better in landscape mode.
And of course alternatives are always good.
Your app works good when i keep the original radio app running in the background. (but i think the reception quality seems to be a bit worse with your app even on the same frequence. But i should test this more)
But it crashes as soon as i press the headphone/speaker button. Only a restart helps then to get rid of the stock radio-app and to get the radio working again.
i have send you a log file. hope it helps and keep up your work.
From my thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21233829&postcount=2043
For Samsung Galaxy S, S2, Note, S3 etc:
Very experimental support for stock and stock derived ROMs with the Samsung Proprietary API. Works OK on my Galaxy S with Darky ROM Extreme Edition 10.2.
- Enable Settings->Debug->SA Proprietary.
- Restart the app.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/a12sm7m13smbjub/Spirit_FM_Radio_v120110.apk
- The Audio->Method is best set to the default of CyanogenMod, but might also work on Samsung, or even None or GalaxyS ALSA as a last resort.
Next release I'll re-enable the recording code and I think it will work on the Note, but might also work on Galaxy S/S2 devices.
If it works or not, please send me a log, best with SU/root:
Select Menu->Help-EM Logs, wait a few seconds, enter "Note" in the email text and press send.
I wish I could afford one of these Notes...

Another shot at Samsung Proprietary support for Galaxy S2 / Note class devices, in addition to Galaxy S devices w/ FM.
As before, enable Settings-Debug->SA Proprietary and restart. SU/Root should not be needed.
Regards,
Mike.
At least one person reports this working on a a Galaxy S2. Please let me know, positive or negative.
I could REALLY use some help testing my FM app on a Note or S2 with a stock or stock derived ROM on which the stock FM app works.
I can't afford one, US/Canada versions have no FM anyway, and Samsung's Remote Test Lab seems just about useless.
The Remote Note I tried started the Feb 26 Market version of my app in the Proprietary FM API mode OK, so I think it's close to working, but that API requires an earphone/antenna plugged in, and the test device doesn't have that. And I can't get the debug logs or shell access either.
There's a Feb 28 version linked here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23059662&postcount=2357
For a few weeks now, my app works on my Galaxy S with stock derived Darky ROMs using the Samsung API, and un-rooted.
Thanks !

The first results are positive. I just listened to fm radio for about 15 minutes. It works through headphones and the speaker. But as far as I can tell the.reception seems to be somewhat worse than with the stock fm radio.
Phone is a N-7000 with stock ICS , rooted, PhilZ kernel. Are there any specific tests I should conduct?
