I'm going on vacation in a week and I'm gonna be bringing tab with me but its wifi only so I'm trying to use my iphone to tether my tab to. The problem i'm having is my tab will not discover the iphone when I have MyWi enabled. I even tried replacing the wpa_supplicant file and it still will not discover my iphone. Can anyone help me with this issue please?

And why are you posting this here???
Please use Q&A in future.
Read this
this should go in Q&A, not dev.
that being said, here's what i'd try.
reboot both the tab and the iphone.
try turning off WEP or WPA if you have them enabled, and see if your tab 'sees' the network then.
make sure you don't have any other tethering programs installed, like PDANet or whatever. they may creating a DHCP conflict.
failing all of that, then try installing pdanet tablet on your iphone (i know they have it for android, i'm assuming there's an iphone companion). try tethering through that, and see if that works.
This is a development forum.
You are asking a question.
There is a Q/A? forum.
1+1=2.
To be slightly helpful, if you have pushed the supplicant file from this post and it still wont work, than I got nothing. Everyone else reports this solution as functional.
Sorry for posting here, I didn't realize i did that I thought I was in the Q&A when I was typing it up.

O.k., let me apologize if this is a repeated post. I really did not want to do this, but I am desperate!
I know that the forum mods frown upon repeated posts.
But, I have searched everywhere on this forum and on Google!
I recently grew a set of grapefruits rooted my Cricket Sanyo Zio (running 2.2) and my ViewSonic G Tablet (also running 2.2 rooted with 4349)
I downloaded Wireless Tether to the Zio; didn't work!
I downloaded Barnacle to the Zio. Seems to give a WiFi signal. The PC's seem to detect it, but the G Tablet doesn't!
I then looked at a couple of youtube videos and downloaded all the necessary stuff (nvflash and gtab.Century.Eyes.rar) on the G Tab, risking turning this machine into a $300+ paper weight!
Still doesn't do it!
Then, I noticed there isn't an custom ad-hoc for Zio on Barnacle.
Could that be the problem or did I just didn't do something right on the G Tab part?
Help much appreciated.
I don't know about the G tab but barnacle has worked flawlessly for me with everything I've tried to use it with.

With wireless tether go into settings and change to wpa-supplicant instead of ad-hoc and set a 13 character wpa key. Also set an SSID name. Connect to Wi-Fi on whatever you want to tether.

Nope. Didn't work.
FORGET IT!
Once again, let me apologize!
I did not realize this was a forum for people that are already born with the knowledge of Android hacking and tricks and that speaks this constant techno babble!
I think I will cancel my account and go else where...Better yet, I'll just get rid of the G Tablet and stick with this big clunky Windows laptop!
It is obvious in this everyone-for-them-self society, you cannot help with one simple little task!
DON'T WORRY! I WILL NOT LET THE DOOR HIT ME ON THE ASS!
BTW: TELL YOUR SPONSORS TO QUIT SENDING ME SPAM E MAILS!
Well good bye! I offered a solution. My tether works perfectly with wpa.

Hello all I'm new to the galaxy tab but not new to xda... I have searched but havent reallly found the answer to my question.
I have a blackberry with an app called tether. The blackberry phones don't support wifi tethering. But they do support Bluetooth tethering. Has anyone ever successfully been able to tether TO a galaxy tab via Bluetooth from a blackberry?
I would like to know so that I can know what my data plans should be
Sent from my SPH-P100 using XDA App
I have seen a thread about this before. I don't remember the answer. Instead of the pathetic xda search, try google. It will find that thread better.
I have searched both xda and Google and I'm mainly finding tethering FROM a galaxy tab via Bluetooth but not to. I figured that creating a thread would be more beneficial.

Bluetooth tethering is supported on the 10.1 Tab due to Honeycomb. I BT tethered my 10.1 to my Win Mobile Treo, easy as passing wind.
As for Froyo/Gingerbread, no such luck, the option is just not there on the Tab 7, at least not on mine.

Wow so I'm out of luck it seems atleast till we get a honeycomb port

Anyone know if this is possible? I want to connect my phone to my laptop and use the internet, when I plug it in I see the option for "internet connection" but it doesn't do anything.
Thanks for the help
Search "tether" and you will find what you are looking for.
There's 2 options. You could use wifi tether. Wich u have to search Google for. Or u can use easy tether which is on the market

But if I use wifi tether. Won't I need to.be connected to a wifi network? I want to use my 3g/4g connection. If there is wifi connectivity, I could just connect my laptop to that, I wouldn't need my phone?
Thanks for the clarification

No you need wifi tether it creates a hot spot but requires root
Sent from my VS910 4G using xda premium
Wifi Tether will be included in the next GingerVolt also. I am trying to find a way to get it to have certain settings automatically, but no luck so far.
With ur USB tether share switcher works really well for me. Just add the widget and click on the usb

Ouch!! I just slapped my forehead really hard.
Good answers gentlemen, as always.
In our themes and apps section, there is a thread "wifi tether, not mine" there is an app that works perfect for me. I have thought about dropping ATT for net, and just using Verizon for surfing at home. That would save me 50 dollars a month. Downfall: I have an awesome phone that can do that, my wife does not. So I would have to retire, and live at home and write best selling books so my phone could always be here to make a connection to the net for my wife. Boy.. that would be... terrible.

Yeah that app used to be in the market but was quickly pulled, so now Google just posts it there.

Your provider may require you to pay a fee. There are likely folks that can get around paying.
I did try "easy tether" when I found that the rooting process damaged my tethering setup. It did work well for an hour to two, until my provider found me and throttled me down to dial-up speed. "Their support guy enjoyed my story and admitted the same thing happened to him once too.
I'm having an issue where I cannot stay connected to my WiFi network. Everytime I disconnect, I have to sign back in...it won't auto connect. I've tried multiple roms and kernels with the same result. Any quick fixes that yall know of?

Actually I have a problem with mine dropping WiFi all together. I know it is working because my husband's iPhone stays connected and it still works when mine has dropped. Lost 4 calls today because of that problem. Tried tinkering with the WiFi setting on the One between 2.5 ghz and 5 ghz and auto. Makes no difference. Connection lasts maybe 5 or 10 minutes then it disconnects. If you have a solution let me know.

Have you tried looking to see if your phone is actually saving the password? It is saved in the following location;
/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
Open this file up using a file explorer with root capabilities. Is your network SSID and password in there?

It is saving it because all I do to get it back on
Is turn off WiFi and turn it back in again. Then it works for five minutes or so. And I looked at the link that was provided above and made sure I had WiFi on always power saver off etc. See what it does tonight.

Sorry, my response was directed towards the OP. Should have made that clearer.
Sometimes dropped connections with android phones comes from having your router set to 'auto' for channel selection. If yours is this setting, try changing it to a fixed channel. Use the app Wi-Fi Analyzer to find a clear channel.

Well I contacted HTC, and I did the steps ad posted above and so far no problem. Of course it will probably happen after I post this knock on wood. Didn't have to do what HTC said below since it works now but will definitely do it if the problem persists. I also uninstalled a battery widget because one of the posts said to try that also.
We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with the Wi-Fi connection on your HTC One and can certainly provide some assistance to help resolve the issue.
To start, we will need to check a setting on the device. From the Home screen, access Settings>Wi-Fi>Menu>Advanced. Make sure the DLNA Auto-IP is disabled. Also, I know you have also changed it prior but set the Wi-Fi frequency band to 2.4 GHz. We will need test the combination to see if there is any difference.
If needed, we will need to make sure there is not an issue with the phone trying to get through your network’s security. For this, we will first need to remove the network from the phone. Access Settings>Wi-Fi then tap and hold on the name of the network to select Forget Network. Once done, reboot the phone and temporarily remove the security from the network. It should be open with no password and the SSID being broadcast. This is only temporary so we can test the phone to see if the same thing continues with an unsecured network. Once this is tested, you can add the security back to the network.
We would also recommend testing the phone with other public networks to see if you still having issues with the connection.
Feel free to reply should you have any further questions, Christina. If you feel more comfortable discussing issues by phone, you can contact Technical Support at 1-866-449-8358, 8 am to 1 am ET, 7 days a week.

Having the same issue with the wifi. Connection is erratic even if I am in the same room as the router/superhub. I went to the store today and they tested it there as well. They uninstalled some power saving apps and it seemed to work ok but at home same issues. Loosing connection when surfing and if I leave the room no connection at all.
Will have to get back to the store tomorrow to get it replaced.

Hey, are ya using an international ROM on an ATT One? I know with trick droid there was a recent issue where ya had to select "international" mode for things like WiFi to stick, WiFi tethering etc.
Ps. I remember ya from the GN2 Forums! My old username was cjsspape haha

Yea man...I remember you...haha. The One is bringing a lot of good people over from what I've been seeing.
As far as using an international ROM, yes I am....was using Trickdroid, but now I'm trying out AndroidRevolution 8.0...same issue. Next time I flash another Rom, I'll try the international setting instead of the ATT setting. Wouldn't I have to change the APN if I did that, or does that setting adjust something else?

Nah I didn't have to change anything. I get average 15-25 meg lte speed. A lot of guys were having the WiFi passwords reset on boot with the att package checked in aroma. From what I've seen the only difference with international & att is the signal icons. I had to switch because WiFi tether wasn't working under att.

I sometimes have the same wifi problem. I think I have to wait untill there is a software fix.
UPDATE: I bought a new router (<with wifi support 2G and 5G) and all my problems are solved.
I'm having an issue connecting other devices to my hotspot via wireless tether on my HTC One M8. I'm currently on ViperOne 1.3.1 ROM, stock kernel. The devices I try to share my network with (ps3, 360, iPhone, M7) will pair with my phone with no problem but it won't let any device connect to my network. Can someone please help me?
I also have an htc one M7, also ViperOne ROM but have no issues tethering other devices to that device.
have you done this with any other device? as far as i know hotspot is just an internet bridge and doesn't create a lan, basically it treats all devices conected as one... i might be wrong though, but even when i had legal hotspot on my old verizon contract i wouldnt get a lan just Internet

you might need to flash the zip too idk since you're in a custom rom, but the script manager thing did the trick for me
