Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
Off course, that's the point of having a Google phone.
But that's a question for other section.

It's officially official. Both phones are getting Gingerbread sometime soon.

That's the thing. There isn't any phone running it right now. HTC wouldn't even be able to get it to us if they wanted to.
As cool as it would be, I wouldn't hold your breath. This gingerbread update was like pulling teeth.
HTC won't give it to us, but our wonderful dev community will....XD

You been living under a rock? Anyone on here knows the phone was getting the update for awhile, it was delayed. Verizon posted the documents about update what last week I think. Pretty sure there are some rom's based on it haha

HTC said September though, Verizon didn't say anything about when and "leaks" don't count as official
4.06.605.3 was announces today
2.15.10.07.07&Chad's newest..Rom MIUI.US/CM7
When the source drops for this I will probably build a new kernel for it. It should be loads better than the port as it will be all Inc files. I'm not sure of Chad's schedule as I'd prefer to leave it to the master.
We all Are waiting for All new version of android thats ice cream sandwich but my question is can samsung galaxy is also get the ice cream sandwich update?

99% chances we will get ICS as we already have seen a nexus s running on it which has the same processor as sgs so just pray that samsung doesnt play any game on us.

I dont think so, many rumors have suggested that smasung has worked with android( google) team to make ics and ics launcher so I think samsung wont make many changes and will serve us with an ice cream sandwich without any toppings.

google promised at least 18 months support for every android device and our support ends in december 2011. so this is our last update
if not official update, they will leak SGS based ICS rom for sure

No, I think they will update till mid next year, as jelly bean will be based on ics only with some more stuff like official remote connection support for playing games. ;-)

if the nexus s get the update then there definitely a port on SGS
SGS has touchwiz so release will inevitably be delayed.

No touchwuz is history as per rumours and also why will samsung work with google to create ics launcher if they had to top it up with touchwiz(samsung working with google is official and not a rumour ).

If they're not adding anything to ICS then there is a good chance that Nexus S and Galaxy S will get the update at the same time, but well Nexus gets updates quite literally directly from Google but Galaxy updates from Samsung, time will probably be wasted in transit... But one two days here and there is no biggie
Nexus S
SGS update will be late cuz of samsung touchwiz and other **** but it will be released

Google says if it can run Gingerbread it can just as easily run ICS. You also have to think that Verizon is just rolling out Gingerbread to many of their devices. Some it took them no time, others have been waiting years. I would suspect that you will see ICS but not for the better part of 12 months from now maybe later 2012.

It's gotta start with a J to follow the naming convention they've been doing.
i heard from somewhere its jellybean
Any guesses as to what the next one will be?
Karamel? Kit-kat?
A google insider told me the next name is 'Jaszek'
I heard its jelly bean and it will be for both phone and tablets because they just spent a lot of effort trying to fix that fragmentation with ics so i don't think they're gonna make another device specific version
