Got a bluetooth device for my tab and it works fine with phone calls but unfortunately not so with skype, yahoo or similar app calls. Is this normal and if so is there a way to fix it?

Does it even have anything to do with the bluetooth set or is it the tab or the apps that are responsible?

It's all about the Profiles

It does have something to do with the headset because some bluetooth headsets can pick up Skype calls while others cannot.
It all depends on what profiles the BT headset supports.
Both the Tab and the headset need to support the same profile (as with any two bluetooth devices working together)
This is explained briefly on the official Bluetooth SIG site
http://www.bluetooth.com/Pages/Help-with-Your-Devices.aspx
(scroll down to the bottom at the part titled "Make sure both devices you want to pair support the same Bluetooth profile")
Yup, some BT headset doesn't work with GTAB. Strangely, but true.
The safest bet is to bring your GTAB to test with the BT earphone/headset before deciding.

Looking for a corded stereo HEADSET with microphone for telephone calls and listening to music with a USB connector for AT&T Tilt. THANKS for any recommendation…
Get one with a regular 3.5 jack and an adaptor - more choice that way I would have thought.
Please let us know which you end up buying, and why.
Cheers,
Joe
Don;t you get one for free with the device?

Check out seidio online too .. this model here looks interesting ... you can use your own headset, but also answer calls/talk on the phone. I have not tried this, but plan to.

Does the W100 work with any other software than media player?....
Will Conduits pocket player work with it using some existing plugin?
tried it, all I know it will work with the audio manager and the WMP, but not the core player. not tried with the pocket player 3.50 , the last few times i installed it, it messed up the menu of the phone, so I will not use pocket player again.

What about TCPMP?
Any idea for good = duplex mode call recorder for this great phone?
I have tryed every single call recorder on the Market - mostly these apps reboots the phone with any call when the call is getting active (regardless the call direction).
Only one recorder works, but only with the use of microphone recording only. When switch to duplex mode, it reboots phone with every call - as the other call recording apps.
Can anyone advice?
Rooted LG2X
Totall recall, seems to only do its job in automatic mode. but then records both ways.
indeed totall recall works fine but records both ways i have been using this aswell for certain calls
Record my calls is free and works flawlessly.
Both ways are crystal clear.

I have used VRecorder for quite some time now.
It's basic, but does what I need.
Autorecord phonecalls, although I have heard about people having problems with longer conversations.
I have not experienced that problem myself.

Yes, just tried and it records both ways... Wouldn't say other party is that crystal clear, but it's very enough.
And it's free!
If the other side isn't clear, it could be that it's recording through the speakerphone, and it won't work if you use a headset...

No need, other party is clear 'enough'... it's just that 'crystal clear' was somewhat too strong an affirmation... The sound is as clear as it gets with mobile telephony operators.
This app (Record my calls) is perfect, just wishing it was easier to enable/disable... just sent a memo to the dev!
anyone knows how to call record when you are using bluetooth headset?
Folks,
Sitting in a rental car wanting to connect your phone with the bluetooth handsfree?
Got a new stereo headset and want to pair it with your device?
Want to send a file via bluetooth to a friend and need pairing first?
Whenever you want to pair to a device or unpair from a device you have to go deeply into the settings of Android. If you finaly got there, the bluetooth pairing partner is out of pairing mode again...
That's the reason I wrote btPair. On opening the App you can scan for visible devices surrounding you and a red or green image shows you the current pairing status. With just one click you can pair or unpair to any device around you.
It's that simple...
Available on the Market now.
If you have questions, rants, comments or feature requests leave a message here or send me an email.
Cheers

Didn't quite like it. It's full of bugs and have sent you an email of the problem. Hope to see it resolved. Thanks.
Just to clarify: It is not FULL of bugs. There was one bug on one specific device. It was a duplicate device entry (the discovered device was listed after each discovery additionally) on a Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus with HC 3.2.
I was not able to reproduce this behaviour my Xoom with HC 3.2 and all my other devices (including emulator). However, I made some changes and added a function to display already paired devices uppon startup of btPair, and added a button for that.
So version 1.1 is published now.
Cheers
Many thanks to the developer. Now it doesn't show duplicates anymore. Hopefully the developer will add more feature in the future.

On older Windows Mobile phones you could delete the codec for Audio and leave the one for phone. Maybe you could do this on older Android too, I can't remember.
Now it's just a Check Box to disable it.
Problem is, every time I start my car it gets re-enabled when it connects the phone. And sometimes will even start the music player on the phone. even when that source is not selected.
Car is 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 8.4AN Nav package.
It's Nav is no where as good as the Nav in the phone.
While this isn't an answer for bluetooth on the whole,
On the 8.4, go to the bluetooth settings, go to the second tab on the left for audio device, and disconnect there (while leaving the phone connected). As long as it has seen that once, I don't believe it attempts to reconnect it again unless you tell it to specifically.

good luck with this though
I'm not sure if this applies to HTC phones but on samsung ones you can longpress whichever pair device, select options, and uncheck media. This should disable music and should still alow phone calls to come thru

I think that's what the OP meant when they said:
"Now it's just a Check Box to disable it."
If not, that's entirely valid

Correct. I can disable it fine. Until the next time you start the car and it rechecks it.
Hi everyone,
I'm hoping someone here has had this issue and knows how to fix it.
So I enabled directions via Bluetooth in Google Maps, but yet the car's audio system doesn't play them.
Music plays fine over Bluetooth from my phone, so at least I know the phone or Bluetooth are the issue.
Any ideas?
Thanks

there is a option to play in car speakers (bluettoth) or the phone itself (even when conected to bluetooth). Is it playing in the phone at least, whil you're in your car and with bluetooth on?
^ once I select the option to play over Bluetooth, then the phone doesn't play them.
So in effect I don't get any directions, which is a bit of a problem.

OK, I tried something else just now: playing music from my phone over Bluetooth, the Google maps directions work over the car's audio.
But if I'm listening to the radio or CD, then it doesn't...
It's the same in both cars, so looks like a phone/android bug?

Uh dude, that's normal...
If your Android phone is connected via Bluetooth to your radio, of corse radio itself must be on Bluetooth mode (not radio or cd) it order to listen audio.
What is NOT normal is not being able to listen audio (google maps or any other audio media) even if your radio is in Bluetooth mode.
