There's a list of rooting guides on a stickied post under android development
Sent from the google phone using XDA Premium

Find your respective phone in a stickied thread and follow that guide.
Also, wrong section.
The rooting guides are in General not Android development.
I9020T/I9020A/I9023 are all in General
The Sprint 4G one is in Sprint 4G dev.
And since you're not in the U.S., you'll probably find yours in General.

help

hey is there anyone who can help me root my sprint hero cuz i have tried like 3 different ways and i keep getting stuck the best step by step i found was the market4android site but as im running the cmd i get up to the shell point then it tells me not found and i dont think it pushed the files over to my phones sdcard what am i doing wrong please help me it fustrating
What you need to do is figure out what firmware version you have and then use the search function of this board to find out how to root your version, the development forums on xda is not the place to be asking these kinds of trivial questions that can be easily found with search.

well perhaps if you had posted in the general or the questions and answers forum you could have saw threads about rooting.. but instead you posted on the dev forum....
This one worked for me when all else failed. I think it's the only one that works for android 2.1.
Look for a thread titled "[GUIDE] How to Root Sprint 2.1 Release for CDMA Hero"
Thread moved to Q&A.

Keep posting on the CM forums

So we all need to keep posting on the CyanogenMod forums. In the section where you can request a version of CM for your phone. A lot of people I've talked to said that's how they got a version for their phones. People just kept posting and posting. Showing that there is a demand for it and so they end up making it work on those peoples respective phones. I really want CM7 (CM9 would be nice but CM7 is for sure doable and more likely to happen faster/sooner) so I already made a thread on there and posted a link to it on here. So not only post in my thread on the CM forums but start your own threads. Lets just keep demanding it and it will happen. We need more devs and this is a good way to get CM devs to help us. They already have it running on 60+ phones and counting. They are adding more phones all the time and ours deserves to be added to that list of phones that run CM7! So lets make it happen.

And I am sorry if this happens to be the wrong place to post this. But its about Development on the LG Revolution so this seemed like the place to post this since all the other CM threads are in here as well.

This thread already has 304 views, but there are only 7 post at the cyanogen forum...
If all those people went and posted we might start to make an impression!!

Do not use cwm.zip (temp recovery) to root Galaxy note on ICS!!

Hi,
This has been reported and confirmed that using temporary touch recovery method to root Galaxy Note on ICS is not safe, this has been posted several times in the forum but lot of people are still trying or asking to try this method.
PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS TEMP RECOVERY, it can brick your device.
We have very good method to root Note on ICS in Dev and General section sticky by dr.ketan.
Here is the link to that thread (all credit to concerned developers and dr.ketan)- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
I am posting this thread here as it is still not posted in Q&A section.
Dripller also took note of this
http://drippler.com/updates/share/temporary-cwmzip-galaxy-note-found-cause-hard-bricks
Basically this warning thread is available in general sticky. And myself only requested to close thread, b'coz all the time discussion less and debate was going more, indeed its proved unsafe. Hope here members will show maturity and not making any statements, can put newbies in trouble.

Thanks Doc. , seems like new users are not checking Dev section and they are still trying this risky method for root.
Thread closed and stuck
This isn't open to debate. Do not use cwm.zip.

That's all you have to say?
No history as to how you got in this situation?
Strange way to open a thread...
Thread moved to Q&A as it has nothing to do with development.
Questions should always be asked in Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum as that's what this section is designed for. NEVER post questions or non development threads into the development forums.
Also, as pablo11 said above, you need to provide us with more details so that you can be helped easier. The more information you give us the more we'll know and will therefore be able to help you more. Please edit your first post with relevant information so that it's more helpful.

You need to see the "Pie" thread. Your OP said you were on 4.4.2.
There is a new root method (only a partial root - Write protection is not disabled, and root is lost upon reboot), but it is handy for things like Xposed/Gravity Box and WiFi Tether.
Look under the "Original Android Development" There is a thread inside regarding 'Pie', which was authored by one of our very gifted Developers, jcase.
Assuming you are on 4.4.2, this should work for you.
Good Luck
Thread closed as there is already a Guide about Rooting which is well detailed, Please do not open threads before searching..
