Android isn't going to magically appear on your phone. It's going to take some time reading, and researching for Android to appear on your phone. There are literally hundreds of tutorials out there showing you how to install. Why not do a little leg work, and research for your answer?
I have an idea... Why don't you try installing them, and finding out for yourself which is the best. What I think is the best, you might think is the worst. There is no right answer. Plus, you can look at the previous fifty, "which rom is best" threads and get the same answer as you're getting here.
I second Hyperdroid GBX.
I've been using it since v3. Smooth fast and stable.
Everything works that I use.
Different roms have different quirks that you have to sort thru.
You just need to find the one that works for you.
The MIUI roms are also cool.

I spent some time indeed when moving first from original stock rom towards other WM builds, to find that android has much more to offer. You will have to take some tome to read...
Thereare lots of webpages outside this forum that show a nice overview of all android rom updates, and best of all, a link to the XDA HTC HD2 Android forum threads! Just Google "overview different Android Roms"...
Good luck and make the best choice!
I personally favour the builds of Rafpigna: everything called RAFDROID.
I think that it will be good to have some vote chart where every one can vote which version he uses.
Hyperdroid GBX... Hands down the best version. With cLK bootloader, it makes my WinMo phone feel pure android.
The Ultimate Droid 3.1.1 v2 the best rom i have ever test , good battery , super speed ,no bugs until now , try it and you will rememper me

The BEST for my T-M HD2 has been:
ANYTHING from or with "RAFPIGNA".
His roms SD & NAND have been the best for me!
I was with Win 6.5.x & SD android, freeze after freeze....
Now only NAND android... problems solved !!!!!!!!!!!
You can allways try a NAND version & go back to Win =)
Im using the darkstone 2.2 desire sense RAM build. Its pretty awesome. I decided on an sd build cause Im a novice and was slightly scared to.take the fill plunge. But its amazing, faster than the desire hd I used to have. A few little things missing but nothing I care about.

Install CWM for your hd2. You can install a nand build back it up,and flash another. It takes about 15 min per flash"you dont even need a computer".It takes a min to get the hang of it, If your not using CWM try it , titanium backup is nice also,"free in market". Back up your apps and copy file to your computer so its safe and sound. This phone is capable of alot. so get ready. Happy Flashing!

Hello guys,
My dad has just bought a Google Nexus One. He had some HTC phones before and he really likes HTC Sense because it is very clean and simple. He likes the widgets (like HTC Weather, HTC Mail, HTC widget for news, etc.). I checked out the development section here on XDA but now i'm very confused. I would like you to tell me which is the best, stable and with good battery life, Sense ROM for Nexus One.
Thank you very much.
evil's NXsense ROM is pretty sweet.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=791151
It's a really stable port from the desire HD with all the latest bells and whistles (i.e, flipping clock, themes and whatnot) steps to instal are as follows:
1.) use AmonRa recovery to repartition to 1Gb SD-EXT/0 SWAP
2.)Wipe
3.) Flash the ROM!
4.) Reboot. (takes some time on first boot. be patient)
Any questions, pm me. installed this thing like a million times.
It's not really fit for mortals' daily use yet, but there is a ROM from the Desire S being worked on right now (as in, gingerbread-sense, tchyeah!)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=995445
best sense rom
evil's 1.26 rom is the best by far. solid, best battery life ...even has some themes you can add.. good luck.
My grandad once had an abacus that he swore by. It was painful to watch as it took a whole day for him to work out his finances on it. He didn't want to use the calculator that i bought for him at first, but after a while he readily agreed that what he was used to wasn't necessarily the best thing!
Allegorical tales are the best
To put it another way, flashing a Sense ROM to a Nexus One is like drawing a moustache on the Mona Lisa!

Allegories are nice, but there is absolutely nothing that stock Nexus ROM does, even in Gingerbread, that old Desire Froyo didn't do a lot better - and most important (for my wife who receives my Nexus soon) - better looking and easier to understand.
For anyone who's not into tinkering with his gadgets - I'd suggest any Sense ROM over any stock ROM. Nexus isn't different.
To the OP: If WiFi hotspot is necessary - DesireHD ports don't have it, so you're set with Desire port. Otherwise they both work quite well. The only major worthy difference I saw would be the browser - pinch-to-zoom would go out into window mode on Sense 2.0, allowing to choose between open browser windows. Nice feature.

WiFi hotspot is not necessary. I think i will go for Desire port. Maybe i will also try the Desire HD port.
LATER EDIT:
THIS EXPERIENCE WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE. I have followed a tutorial from theunlockr to Root the phone and install Amun Ra Recovery. Everything worked perfectly. After flashing the Desire Port ROM on the Nexus One and rebooted, the phone didn't passed the screen with a lock and the X from nexus logo (boot-loop). I found a ROM on the internet and flashed that (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614427) . Now my phone is working, got some com.android.phone force-closing but now it looks ok. I'm really scared to try it again. What have i done wrong? *sorry for my bad english *

you can always just put the wireless tether app on top of SenseHD if you want a hotspot, don't have to use built-in.

Don't be scared... you gotta *rreeallllyy* **** something up to truly brick your phone. As long as you can get to the bootup screen you can generally bring it back. Some ROMS are more stable than others, but they are (usually though not always) older as a result, because they've been tried and tested. Things like the Cyanogen Mod Nightlies are awesome and cutting edge, but not for the average consumer. I've personally don't like how the Sense launcher responds, so I never stuck with any HTC ROMS, but when I was testing it out I had some really good luck with the MoDaCo roms. You can get the prebaked roms on the site or if you pay for membership you get access to the online kitchen as well (where you can customize the rom before downloading it). Give the MoDaCo port a shot if the phone keeps crashing, and if **** goes down.... recovery image ftw!

is there any Sense ROM which doesnt require creating a partition on the SD Card? As in install in the same manner in which I install CM7 or Blandroid. I dont like the idea of having things installed over the SD card.
I have looked and not come across anything so If I've missed something, please point me in the right direction.
thanks

Hey guys. I might be Rooting and flashing soon, and I'm looking for which ROM I should go for.
I was looking for one with good battery life (I use my phone for Music, Game's Etc.) and hopefully a ROM that has better battery life then stock.
I was also looking for one that had Sense 3.0.
Any chance such ROM exists? Any one tried a few Sense 3.0 Rom's and has had good battery life from one?
Thanks

Virtuous unity 2.35 does go good.... The sense 3.0 is just amaZIng! IF U WANT I'LL POST THE LINK HERE...
arhd is good too but then its over clocked to 1.5Ghz by default, so alot has complained for it doesn't boot up, stays in the HTC screen.
This ROM too gives u amazing performance but its mostly the users taste here...
And not to forget, Coredroid ROM... Man this ROM OS simply fantastic, I've used it before just because of the backlight issues removed it, the backlighta aka the 4 menu butons, doesn't work sadly.... But, there's gonna be an update soon, so yeaaaaaa! It's gonnna have sense 3 with the backlights fixed too...
Hope this helps....

well, as pointed out , the choice is very personal.
it depends on your preferences as there are some differences in most of the major roms.
so far i've tried ARHD, CM7, MIUI & Virtuous unity.
CM7 is quite good if you are interested in having a non-sense rom but the functionality, stability is top notch. CM7 has set a standard not just for stand alone developers but for corporate production as well.
ARHD is a very popular rom and most people using it will swear by it.
it is sense based, and it will feel like a charged up stock rom.
very professional as well.
MIUI is what i used the longest & i must admit it is a brilliant rom in the fact that it stands out in appearance & customization.
every app and every part of the system is beautified and it feels like a totally different phone. if you are looking to have a 'different' yet amazing phone, MIUI is the way to go.
but the major drawback with MIUI is that it is not officially supported for the INCs and thus there are some minimal bugs which can get a bit annoying.
And of course it has no app drawer, works like the iphone.
this can be handled by the wonderful app created by a member here called alt drawer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154299
i feel this is a must for MIUI.
finally, using VU at the moment and i feel it is a perfect blend of sense components and that little something extra.
looks, feels and works amazingly well, minimal bugs and almost feels like the perfect rom again...
i did however run into a few loop boots recently, but i think that can be worked on.
that's my personal opinion on all the roms...
and i think it would be a good opportunity to give a heartfelt 'thank you' for all the developers here working so damn hard on providing world class roms for us.
Thank you guys, we all do silently thank and appreciate all your efforts!

The great thing about rooting and flashing is that you can create a back up and from there flash everything possible until you find what your looking for. One thing to remember is that you cannot kill your phone flashing new roms as they do not change your BIOS.
Thanks for all your replies guys - does anyone have a link to ARHD?
Sounds quite good
EDIT: ARHD Isn't full Sense 3.0, might leave that one... is Virtuous Unity a good one to go with then? (No bugs, good battery etc.)
i refer to ARHD 1.1.6
with kernel 4

Thanks Nabeeltanz for quoting my post
well, to add to the above post, i have personally experienced MIUI to have the longest battery life among all the ROMS.
My usage is quite heavy, 3g on all day, regular surfing with streaming of music for most part, a little gaming here and there, emailing and of course the messaging and calls. most of the ROMS i've used lasted me a full day.. MIUI did a little more.. consistently it would last for close to 2 days. it would definitely need recharging by the end of the second day..
but compared to the stock rom, all the custom roms do provide good enough battery life.

Just so say, I'm using Virtuous Unity and it's been brilliant so far.
To all those guys that use CM7 Nightlies (Test Release) with timat 1.1.4 , just want to clarify with you guys that do you guys get crashes on it?
I downloaded the latest test release last night and flashed it after I flashed my ROM and I've got to say that I keep get crashes (com.android.phone process has ended) . So what is the ROM that I should flash? Is it the stable version or the test version.
and can I flash the kernel (timat 1.1.4) on my Virtuous Unity 2.3.9? So what is that is power saving? The kernel or the ROM or both together? (im confused)

I did a full wipe using ARHD 's (Super Wipe) and also using my Clockworkmod's wipe . I performed a NANdroid before flashing (of course im scared) . I had problems on the nightly ROM as I don't know why my Airplane mode keeps turning on by itself.
It will be great if you can help me by posting the exact link for the ROM you use and the kernel you used and even the recovery you used to wipe your entire ROM before flashing the new one ..
I'm still using VU 2.3.9 and I just realized that my battery life sux the previous time because I didnt flash the kernel of VU 2.3.9 (LOL) . I just flashed it and I'm currently letting it run to see how well is the battery.
as smartphone users, most of our main concern is the battery usage.. I would very much like to use CyanogenMod 7 Nightlies but just that I have second thoughts about it because it didnt have the "Quick Settings" or HTC keyboard that I was using on my VU . and I can't find and nice framework which is suitable..
so i guess if you could help me on this issue. I'll really appreciate it .

Not sure I get your gripe, the phone is over a year old. It's time for you to take responsibility and flash it.
Let's forget about ICS for a while. According to our sources we have a sense 3.0 rom with 2.3.5. coming in December. I would be happy to grab that. I have a feeling that we are not gonna get an official ICS rom at all.
Don't want to flash. Been there, done that with my hd2 million times, there were always glitches and stupid bugs. Don't want to waste my time, warranty on custom roms on incS. Does a perfect bugfree out of the box like sense 3.0 rom exist for our device? Love the sense ui, so not big fan of cm.

Sense made my phone laggy and have terriable battery life. Why would I want that.
Cm7 is more like an iPhone. Battery is better although not quite as good as my friends iPhone 3gs that has 80% battery left at the end of the day on ios 5.
I agree. Why bother with official ROM's when year has passed - no warranty anyway. I get 5 days of battery life with CM7.

that's one way of looking at it but i think you are missing the point. from what i've read, ics is supposed to enhance the android experience. in other words, add more polish and improve the look and the feel of the operating system. what you are referring to is hardware capabilities and app functionalities.
if I can have the same functionalities in a more polished package, I would at least want to give it a go.

that's a known bug with the new release. there's a workaround for that: you have to flash the weekly (non-ics) version first, let it boot up, reboot into recovery then flash the ics version on top. or you can just flash the previous release (v1.11.9). it's been flawless for me.
Just wondering... what's your current favorite ROM for your Nexy, and why?
I used CM7 for most of my time owning my N1. Have it almost 2.5 years now. Very enjoyable experience.
Currently using MIUI GB 2.3.30, with Go Launcher and Neok kernel. I find it very stable and offers everything I need. I also enjoy the smoother experience GB offers for our device over ICS.
I also frequently try BCM ICS CM9, but always find myself reverting to MIUI as I miss working video camera and flash. Although gap is closing fast; flash now working, and video has just arrived.
Keeping a close eye on Sense 4 ROM too
What gets your vote?
PS hats off to all the rom cookers/developers for making the N1 so much fun to own

favorites...
gb = cm7>hypersense>miui>aosp in that order
ics = not much preference here but iirc I enjoyed the time I spent with TexasIce.

Cyanogenmod 7.10, most stable, best battery, most performance. I do like Sense , but it has battery drain, so no. ICS isnt complete yet, so I'm waiting for fix.
all are good and stable. nw using QND MIUI. pretty cool.no issues

Which component of ICS that you are holding out for? I have been using ICS on a daily basis.
CM7 patched with PDroid and some solution to place apps in an dedicated partition on the SD card.
I'm currently working with both CyanogenMod7.2.0RC2 and BCMRC3.4Update1 .. I love having ICS working, but to be honest CM7 is better (i.e. more consistent and more stable) if this is your only phone.
I keep on messin' around and just assuming that one day I'll brick the device. That's OK though, a perfect opportunity to ditch AT&T once my GSM device is dead.
Anyway... here is question for you folks going back and forth between GB and ICS roms. Have you found a common internal partition size setup so you can simply nandroid restore back and forth? Or are you using BlackRose to resize each time?
i dont have a favor rom coz every 1 have some thing and not contained with other
now i'm using cm 7.2 its cool and the battery life is good
but the most thing i hate is call program (i dont know the true name) mean when someone call me his pic appear small and all that stile is ugly and cannot sync his facebook account with his name and pic
the sense roms give me a great call program and appear FB account ,....
but drain battery more and i think the camera quality is not good with all sense rom
so
1st - cm7.2
2nd - hyper supernova
ics waiting 4 stable
miui i dont like it
I usually stick with ICS layout when reverting back to CM7 or MIUI.
Now I'm back on BCM ICS

My favorites:
GB: cm7.2 RC - fast and stable
ICS: BCM passion - fast and many options
For those of you on BCM ICS, does it have trackball LED notification where you can set custom colors for different apps?
If not, would LightFlow work with BCM ICS? Thanks.
Haven't tried ICS yet, but as far as GB goes my fav is CM7.1

my friend can't stand his nexus one. I don't think many roms are out there, when I tried to flash one for him always got some sort of error.

I wouldn't remember it's been months and I only bring it up because the ROM now is glitchy so I'll keep a tab on it. IF he doesn't buy a new phone beforehand.
What's a ROM you would recommend for this phone though?

I love all the ics (BCM,Texasice, and Aokp) roms each have their own customization, very fast, and quite stable most of the time. I also like some of the gingerbread roms like cm7 and miui, they are very fast and have amazing battery life. Im not a big sense guy , but with sense 4.0 in dev i will prob give it a go . In the end the rom choice is up to the user.
m so happy
Ok I been using this phone for two years or so
I loved it and had my blue days
I have struggled with a2sd and etc
However I was always unhappy with not having the sense look
And now I am using this hyper sense nova Rom and I am in love with it
I get close to ten hours battery with light to moderate usage
I have a battery caluberation problem but once I solve it ill probably not switch
I am more interested in features than looking so I prefer CM 7.2
I'm running BCM myself (4.0U1 at the moment) but I keep a backup of CM7.2.0 in case anything goes bad.
I'd like to test MIUI someday but AFAIK greek language which I need is not supported, at least for ICS-based roms.
