I was watching a documentary about the 9/11 when they ask this question.
So where were you when that tragedy happened?
I was 6 years old. I remember watching it on TV and didn't have a clue what was going on.

Listening to the radio. It came up either damn early morning or late at night (can't remember). Then I checked online the next day and read the papers.
I was at home, I had gotten up for work and like every other day I turned the news on. I was shocked, thought it was fake.

On my way home :/
Heard about it in the car.
I was in 4th grade watching it on TV, I had no clue about what just happened. I got to go home, then I heard from my Mom that we just had a disaster (I was a little innocent, or whatever when I was younger so I just couldn't wrap my mind around it). I didn't feel sad, I just knew that something bad happened and then we had war

I was walking from the garage to work when my hubby called me....
So it was about 5 months since I moved to the states. I was in school, beginning of 4th grade. My teacher walks in and says Michal is going home. I say, sure why not. lol. I get home, watch some cartoon network. Switch the channel. Nice movie, next channel, same movie etc. I run out of my house and go to the corner where the twin towers were visible from. Now all I saw was a big dust cloud.
I was @ work, listening to the radio. Saw the second tower go down on TV. Didn't believe my eyes.
I was sleeping after working 3rd shift when my mother called me to tell me about it, I turned on the TV and seen the second tower get hit. God bless those that died that day and God be with the ones that lost someone on that tragic day.
at 2nd or 3rd grade. dont remember which. school got locked down and nobody left until 5 or 6 that night. it was scarey hearing the teachers talk about what happened. i knew friends of my family worked there, but thank god it was their day off..... just wish everyone elses family was that lucky. :/

I know what you mean about wrapping your mind around it. It wasn't until i read a book written by one of the surviving Firemen, who was in a tower as it collapsed and by some miracle survived, could i get a grip on what it must have been like for the people involved.
Terrible, terrible thing to happen. I wonder how the people of the world will commemorate the 10 year anniversary?
I was 15 or 16 at the time, and was on a fieldtrip with the class. We (me and my friends) were outside roaming the little town we were in and the teachers watched the news when we got back, and i thought they watched a movie. That wasn't the case.
I was at Auburn University, just sat down for class. Teacher ran in and turned on TV and all he said was "you can stay or leave..."
My fiancee used to be in to it when she was a teenager, and we're wondering how active it is these days since you no longer need a license for it.
Anyone a regular?
I don't know anybody who uses CB any more. My dad belonged to a club, and had a set-up at home and in the car. He used to use us to help him chat up random ladies! My handle was Thunderbolt!
I remember he even learned Morse as he wanted a full Ham Radio set, but he never got round to that one. The CB club nights were good, everyone turning up with their cars festooned with aerials and chatting with each other as they drove.
Good times!

This is Ham Shank, anyone out there?....

Danielle watched Smokey and the Bandit 1&2 recently you see, so she's got a hankering to get back on the airwaves.
I loved my CB when I was a kid. My handle was Bomb Jack and I was the CB equivalent of a troll/radio DJ.
It was a bit silly really since everyone at school knew my handle, so it was no surprise when one kid threatened me with a knife one day for chatting up his girlfriend. I didn't know who she was - she didn't tell me her real name! I just said I'd bring the condoms
Good times
Well, I popped onto the 'bay and selected the cheapest radio ending soonest without really taking much notice of what radio it was (only 6 minutes left on the auction), so in a few days will have a Team ME-4 minus squelch knob (can pick up a replacement from maplins) for the princely sum of £24 inc postage.
Also have an antenna with mag mount coming for £14.
The original plan was if it turns out there's a healthy CB community in the area, I'd re-sell the ME-4 and get the TTI 550, however having looked the ME-4 up, it's better spec'd so I'll be keeping it.
When I drove semi truck, I had a big awesome radio with a linear amplifier and big badass antenna setup, I could actually mess up other people's radios if I turned it up all the way at the truckstop, since they were parked so close to me. I parked in front of my parents houseone time with my radio and amp all the way up, talking to a guy about 20 miles away; my dad came out and said he could hear me loud and clear through the TV. They have cable TV
Back when CB started in the UK people imported rigs from the US, but they were illegal to use.
After lobbying government they agreed to license CB but FM not AM and just up from the US 27MHz range, which meant imported rigs were still illegal.
In 2006 they dropped the license fee but with mobile phokes and t'internet interest had fallen to an all time low.

Enjoy, I purchased one.
I did too: €56,83 including delivery to the UK from Expansys France. Some reviews (at least in French) say it is a female watch. Looks quite big and male too me. We shall see.
With an name like "evening classic" one would get the impression it is a women's watch. However from the pictures it certainly looks like a mens watch to me.
Got it now - looks male and big but the wrist strap is too short

Yea I had the same problem, it fit on the last hole. Also the display on mine faded to where you can't see it in the first night. Is yours still working?
I guess all the functions work with the PLAY? (I have small wrists, this would be good!)

With the openwatch program everything worked great, its just that the display quit in less then 12 hours.
Had mine for 3 days, does not seem to have any problems with the screen or battery but maybe because i haven't discharged it yet. Vibrates and shows messages on the screen so the display was used only limited number of times. Hope it won't fade quickly as paid more money to replace the wrist band.

"MBW-200 series comes in three distinct designs; Sparkling Allure, Contemporary Elegance and Evening Classic. "
"Missed an important call or SMS because you couldn’t hear or find your phone at the bottom of your handbag?"
Now, unless things are THAT much different between the US and the EU, I would think those 2 lines would be a dead give-away that this was intended to be a Ladies' watch.
That would explain the wrist band being so small, as well.

Too bad I already asked for it for Christmas. Also I mean the damn thing is huge compared to a normal ladies watch, and the design is similar to any mens watch, so would it really be that bad for a man to wear?
EDIT: I looked up the other 2 watches in the lineup and they are very obviously Women's in design....
Don't worry it is huge and doesn't look female. Strap is too short for big wrist however. Battery on mine is only one third down after more than five days use. Some report it last only hours but redoing Bluetooth connection from scratch seems to fix it for them. No led problems on mine yet. I was surprised to keep in car Bluetooth connection despite watch being connected to phone all the time.

I've got the MBW150 Music Edition and the MBW200 Evening Classic. The 200 does look more feminine but it's nothing that can't be solved by switching to a more manly band. There is a tiny crystal at the 12 o'clock position but no one will ever judge it on that alone.
The 150 was available in Classic, Executive, and Music editions with leather, metallic link, and rubber wrist bands respectively. I don't think the name implies what gender it is for.
Btw on first charge it lasted 7 days and a bit. On second charge it is only 1/3 discharged after almost 10 days. Connected to the phone all the time.

I got the 200 for Christmas today, I have to say looking at it, it does have a bit of a feminine look to it, but that goes right out the window when you see the digital display. I showed my family who thought it was one of the craziest things they ever saw (they are easily impressed). It works great so far, all the functions are good. Also I have small wrists so the band works for me.
I did disconnect it from my phone since its now sitting in my watch box, and I likely won't leave it connected all the time as I won't be wearing it except at work or when I go out. Don't want to destroy it when I'm working on the car or something.
Well this sucks. After 15 days it stopped turning on even though the battery said it still had half its juice left. So i plugged it in, charged it, and it will charge, but as soon as I disconnect the charger its dead as a rock.
They are taking mine on return exchange, but their site no longer lists it, I have a feeling I'm getting a refund.
lol if you want my opinion...

or is this Buck Rodgers 1984 dystopian nightmare.
Just glad I'm not wearing one. wouldn't want to catch the flak from looking like a nerd

So how are you getting ready for the apocalypse

Also the show is good =)
That's the dumbest show I've ever seen. Most of those people over do it. I do have like a weeks worth of stuff in my basement but that more for any heavy snowstorms in the winter, not world ending situations. A gun with about 2000 rounds of ammo is always good to have laying around.
what about cell phones?
one from each carrier with 10 backup batteries each (each should have an FM Radio)
with some extra/pre-paid Sims for the GSM ones.
I havent seen one person of the half-dozen episodes I saw really mention cell phones, other than the fact all lines will probably be down.
I live in a large city in a high rise, Im screwed.
my best advise in USA.. head for canada fast!!
Well I'm not preparing for the apocalypse because I don't care, plus the apocalypse won't happen for a LONG time.

Well, the long and the short of it all is, i stumbled across this site while tinkering around with a Fire 7 HD i believe. Before i get the "Skript Kiddie" label, I despise that term, and actual Skript Kiddies, if you're learning to become better? Ok, i get playing around a little for a little while, but then educate yourself and become proficient.. Don't just live out your days as a script kiddie and think you're accomplishing anything of note... I've tinkered and built PC's, laptops, desktops, (yes i know what PC stands for, lol), pretty much my entire adult life, not diving deep enough to really make anything of it, but enough so where back in 2006 out of highschool, i basically had a mini sever farm in my living room, built from old parts the schools either broken or trashed, and anywhere i could pick up any used PC's for little to nothing. Fast forward to mid to late 2010, my then GF, now wife, pushed me to get my GED and attend college, to which i did and majored in auto mechanics, studied to achieve masters mechanics status but late 2011 i was driving home late/early morning and ended up spinning out from a faulty right rear second hand strut tower mount on the right rear of a 97 subaru lagacy that had the boxer engine in it, and 8 months of steady work done. Went around a curve close to home and the strut shot through the top mount, right rear dropped on the tire causing a skid, jumo a covered pipe completing a 180, and htting a tree square in the middle of the trunk at approx 65mph. Severe head trauma, broke my orbital bone, left clavical, all of my ribs, cracked skull, and 2 fractured, one broken, and 2 crushed vertebrea, lacerated liver, deflated and punctured both lungs and lacerated my pancreas... Went out the back glass of the car, and 20 feet on the other side of the road in the ditch..
