Yeah, I didn't say a word and you forgot to delete this thread anyway This exactly shows that you deserved your Mod rights.
Nvm, shame I forgot about this thread - I was going to release a custom ROM benchmark. Did you know that simplicity and Jackos easily overperformed Energy in kinda any test I tried? Just forget it, "Schnee von gestern" as we used to call this in Germany.

When I was doing the ROM benchmarks, I did a few custom ROMs, but my results were the same as yours. Simplicity was the fastest, followed closely by yours and Wild Child's. NRG just cooks his ROMs for eye candy first, so speed was never the strong suit of them.

My benchmarks showed that Illuminati where not really fast, but this might have changed depending on the version I have tested.
I used to cook my roms to save as much ram as possible, around version 1.4 i changed that to establish a high performance index.

PS I also did a quick registry issues test and I found a lot of bugs in missed files etc. Heh, that's a pity - even some HTC/MS (shell package to be exactly) packages had missed entries in registry.

[Poll]This Months Top Ten Recommended Roms!![Januray '09 - POLL CLOSED]

Well folks, the time has come, every mid month I will start this poll, and when the month ends I will end the poll and post the results in my wiki and thread!
Since this is the first voting thread, there is going to be an introduction .
I want to have a list where people can be specific and choose one ROM, but what if you don't know what to choose? This is what will help.
Poll Has Started!
Will end January 31st, at 11:59:59PM
Any new ROMs will be added in this poll that are released before Jan 24th.
Please, don't post in here requesting advice on what ROM to get, this only a voting thread. If you want to know what ROM to get try some out and use the one you like. Then vote here for the ROM you like the most.
Mods, delete irrelavent posts please
Also,
CHO HTC is the PhamQuang ROM
Please add also PhamQuang ROM (PDAViet)
I think he changed the ROM's name to CHO HTC. You can check my list if you'd like .
Marketing study for cooked ROMs!
HI Tito! i find this thread extremely useful and informative, good idea! It would be even more interesting if cookers would disclose the number of downloads of their ROMs. This is important for everybody as a sort of "marketing study" to understand what the other members are looking for. I was very surprised in noticing that there are less than 0.2 posts per download, and most of the users just silently download the ROM and happily use it! Only when you have issues and/or specific requests - then posts shows up
For example, in my ROM we have achieved 1398 downloads up to now.
Another interesting "marketing" consideration: first users (the techno geeks alias "early adopters" ) downloaded almost only from rapidshare, but when roms stabilize it is mediashare which is mainly used (the early adopter testing validates the ROM for "real users" ) ! i am sure this is correlated with the different use of the PDA.
Sorry Tito, but my last Rom it's called Dark Red and no Dark Blue, I've changed it, how probably I make a new version!
Oh, thanks for the tip, but can you PM me when ever you guys have a change? I don't want this to be error reporting, I want people to post their feedback if they have any , like pzuccel did .
Thanks,
Tito

LOL, I always miss that one.
BUMP . Hey people I want your feedback.
Hi,
I am brand new to the ppc and flashing scene.
I read a lot of articles about flashing cooked roms and their pros. Unfortunately I don't have that much time at the moment but I'd better like to flash my HD now rather than later so that I don't need to backup so much data.
I'll have enough time to tweak it a bit and change some registry stuff, installing programms etc but not for flashing it every two weeks.
So I ask you what ROM should I use? Should I go for an official ROM? I would use Duddys or Laurentius if they are really stable. Duddys seems to be great but I fear that I have a lmost no time to care for bugs.
Are there any bugs in Duddys? Which ond would you recommend me to use?
There are bugs in almost everything. Nothing es perfect . Its all up to you, but this isn't the place to post this , a PM would have been better. Check out the blackstone list in my sig. It has more ROMs listed(well its updated, I cant seem to update this poll. . . .). Its all up to what you like and need.

I don't think the poll is turning out quite fair because the multi roms are getting votes from all languages so of course they will get a more weighted response. Maybe there should be a WWE category for each rom that is multi. Then you could compare like votes.

But thats only part of a rom, most people will go for a wwe rom and put in a different language, they probably voted for it because they like what the cook put inside his ROM(not just a language).

I am currently using one of the multi ROMs, so I agree that many people like them, including me. I have a statistical background so I couldn't help but open my mouth Anyway, it is all in fun and doesn't have to be statistically perfect
I vote for R3D Dark Red, it's really fast and stable, i've no problems with any application, great work my friend Roby
Voted for Dutty ... Kudos to him for giving us these wonderful roms

But lately I when reading in the forum, I see a lot of complaining and ruud behavior when someone tries to post a question. Either people are told to search or they are on the wrong thread.

why not try to help or point them in the right direction?
There are more replies on how"stupid" the question rather than just giving an answer or not reply at all

The reason is, ppl never bother to read the directions and rules set out in the forum, this thread is really not a contribution and does not comply with the specified layouts set out in starting a new thread. Admitably this topic does have some bearing but still its not really necassary.
Yes, you should be afraid of posting its a good thing it stops or prevents every noob starting another useless topic or the same topic over and over again.
If you actually read you would see the exact same question asked over and over and over, I guess that fact that you dont understand is proof that you dont read or search.

Hi,
Why Davideuck or Miri? Maybe you should have check ROMs coocked by Onkolog or PhamQuand. They are very good too and have similar bugs, eg. alarm doesn't work if HD is locked and sleeps, etc.
You should have try out each and make decision. Everyone has personal preferences.
Good luck bro
i'd like Karma rom.
i tried both in davideuck no touch flo but in miri there is both i thing in my opnion miri is better until now
Not working alarm from locked/sleeping state can be fixed with this tweak by enabling wakeup to full power
Try both and see witch one you like best.

In Davideuck you can have tf3d it depends wich version you chose...
I have used Miri 7.1 and now I use Davideuck V-7 with Manila. Both are great rom and it is up to you who you prefer. I always liked Davideuck so I use his rom now but thats only my choise.
If you dont like one of them flash the other one

I see your point, but when I get a response to my first post to try both versions I think that is not what I asked.
I have tried a lot of roms and it takes a lot of time to test all out! It is not done in one day! to test it it takes at least 2 days.
A forum (like this) is to share knowlage and experinces between users. isnt it?
I tried davideuck but quite lag. now i will change back to miri one
I think
I use Miri Rom 21500 7.2.
I think , if I can say somthing about the differences between the Roms I had to test both first. And If I test both I know or not what I am going to use.
So it is the wrong question !!
The Question is " WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ............ ROMs " ?
That´s what all the people whants to know without testing all ROM a cupple of Day´s without safty to register everything.

at least you can do it in the "general" forum not in the ROM Development forum.
you are transforming this forum in yr personal "give me an answer" forum. this is not a Q&A forum. with each answer you get you are pushing away from the first page really important stuff.
now after 13 posts what did u get? did u found somebody that used both ROMs and he can give a ready digested answer? did u really think that u can get a straight answer from such a (useless) thread? choosing a ROM is subjective. asking other's opinion instated of reading the relevant threads with user's opinion and user's reaction is pure laziness and total disregarding the forum rules.
all i (and many others) want is to be able to watch the ROM Development without being bothered by marathon chat threads that keep on growing without any benefit for the community.

we all have high expectations about other ppl.
welcome to the club of the disappointed ones!
I am on onkolog's 6.5 and its pretty AWESOME. I was using miri's 7.1 before I flashed to onkolog's. It is very smooth and I dont have the DayLightSavingTime bug in Manila (going back by an hour) in his ROM. The only complaint I have in onkolog's is the Calculator which SUX, but so does every other 6.5 ROM.
EDIT: I have not tried miri's 7.2 yet, so cannot comment on it.
My dilemma is...
...I am unfortunately a perfectionist.
And both roms, Miri's and davideuck's as well, aren't perfect.
So the following is what I like from Miri's rom:
the "sandclock" that appears when WM works looks much better
the menu icon of "file explorer" looks better (fits to the otehr HQ icons)
to be continued....
and here comes my positive thoughts about davideuck's rom:
RSS HUB onboard
HTC calendar starts the week with Moday
calculator is much better (rotation, you know..)
icon bar at the upper screen is awesome! and not buggy like Miri's
grey theme is great looking with black of Manila!
the used HTC dialer is my favorite (I loost track of all the names, versions and so maybe s.o can tell me which which is...)
to be continued...
what I wish to be introduces (in any of both roms) is...
A weekly view in HTC calendar
FULL German Translation (it ist a dream! not more and not less)
link feeds with RSS HUB when opening a newfeed via link in opera ;-)
stringent use of manila submenus, hints, warnings etc.

somebody should start a poll of the most recent ROMs.. (a leaderboard for the ROM chefs!! ??)
personally i tend to flit between NRG28's Energy ROM and Duttys winmo6.5
i find NRG's much prettier and dutty's much smoother
i left 6.1 ROMs some while ago now however i have to admit i have yet to experience a 6.5 ROM that can offer the same speed and performance of a 6.1 ROM.
I just got too used to the extra little bits winmo 6.5 offers.
so... my money would be on dutty if you plan to use your own UI such as PointUI WAD2 or MS3
or if you like TF3D then go for NRGs ROMs they look fantastic (and they are not far removed from Duttys in terms of performance)

no, i think u should read forum's rules before posting this topic.
pretty much agree with purecode.
6.5 looks just that little bit better, but is not as fast as a 6.1 ROM. personally, I generally use Topix (6.1) for the speed (unbelievably fast), athough dutty's latest 6.5 is catching up. i don't think theres enough in 6.5 to warrant the loss of speed, thus i sometimes flash a 6.5 ROM but always end up going back to topix for the speed.
i think the real 'killer app' will be when/if manila 2.5 can be incorporated into a ROM. i think this will temp me to switch to 6.5 permanently, rather than just having a play with it every now and again.

issue tracker wiki

would it be a good idea to allow cookers to create issue trackers in the wiki and link the page to the first page of their threads.
that way when someone has an issue/fix we can say "add it to the wiki" and they can see if the issue has already been reported and any fixes that users have associated with it?
it also give the cooker one place to look when they come to support that rom
Anybody can edit the Wiki, it wouldnt neccassarily need to done by the cooks, why dont you start it off and turn this useless thread into something contructive rather than another cloed thread!

i know... that's the point! everyone can edit it for their issues. but we'd want the cookers to adopt the wiki page as their issue trackers.

Hi,
I noticed you had added links to the 6.5 ROM list on the Wiki. I updated the table just now and moved the column for the issies links nearer to the left. I also took out the language column as the table is getting too wide, and we can group the languages as shown in the revised table.
There is also a post about listing all the ROMs on the Wiki as this has not been kept up to date.
See the post here:

I think I have captured all the WWE 6.5 ROMs which have active support for them by their chefs and they are listed on the Cooked Roms page

made this post in another thread... (apology for cross-posting)
great idea! i'd like to offer the following suggestions:
add a column for ROM version. i know this is for 2.5 Manila, but miri may have 2-3 2.5 Manila versions in circulation at one time. standardized selections would be great (although i'm not sure it's possible)
consider adding a standardized "feature" column/tag. might help with searching or filtering responses. for example, a standard features list could include: SMS, Twitter, Weather, email, contacts, data connection, sounds, alarms, etc.
are these easy changes to make? i ask because i'm not familiar with the wiki edit process.
Good idea, i like it!

Guys the problem we have is two fold.
1) The Chefs are releasing new ROMs with increasing regularity
2) The Chefs rarely (and this isn't a pot shot) retrospectively fix issues in that ROM - they fix in subsequent ones.
I am fully for this idea but I see the above as massive problems to overcome for it to be useful. We risk putting Chefs of cooking ROMs but asking for such increases in bug fixing and ROM releases will naturally decrease with that.
I am not saying I either want this or don't - I am simply pointing this out. I have a number of issues with my current ROM that I would love sorting out...I don't want to be chopping and changing my ROM every two minutes in order to fix a small issue - however that being said, I also want Chefs to continue their excellent work.
Let's be careful and sensitive to what we are wishing for?

It's pointless in any case unless the cookers agree to use them as a bug issue priority list of sorts. I'm not sure that these guys have sufficient time to do that.
Having a list of issues is one thing....the list of fixes is going to be another entirely!

hey wiggz, while i understand your concerns i don't fully agree with them.
The idea of the issues tracker is different for different users:
People that don't have the rom:
these guys will be able to look at the issues and associated fixes (if any) and decide if they want to flash the rom.
People that have the rom:
They can look at the tracker and add new issues, track fixes and not have to flood the thread with things like "GPRS keeps connecting halp!!" after every two posts. Also, fixes can be given to a wider audience rather than someone saying "look a few pages back… this has been fixed"
Cookers:
Cookers can TRACK the issues, they can see what is wrong with the rom and either
A. fix it in this current rom
B. apply the fix or test the issue in the new rom
C. do nothing as there is no fix
The idea is that:
Duplicate posts will get reduced
Fixes get the visibility that they deserve
New roms can be regression tested by cookers, beta testers and normal users.
I think you got confused with "suggested fix"…. I am not asking miri/nrg or other cookers to fill out the form, it is for their reference.
The suggested fix is for ALL users to fill in. if the cookers/other users find a fix then the best place to put it is in the wiki and not on post #1006044 on page 1902309231
You dig?

Miri has now added this to his thread. Still waiting on response from NRG
I totally get it - perhaps I was simply focusing on the negatives a bit too much.
The fact is when I'm looking at a new ROM I want as much information about issues as I can so I know whether to invest the time or not.
However more often than not my issues stem from small issues that arise in ROMs but are never fixed. For me, the EnergyROM Leo would be perfect if I could just send MMS messages (the 'fix' hasn't worked for me).

Name the rom you use and your opinion

Please name the rom you use and your opinion of it.
Its nice to have more insight.
though its only another "what rom is how good" thread its a nice idea
so...
I'm using Energy Rom (Sense2.5)
Opinion:
Very fast but i had 2 SoD's in one Day and there are many things in it i dont need ^^
what a nonsense is this thread????
its the same as his last thread lol... just phrased differently...
he needs someone to tell him what to use... because he's incapable of testing or trying for himself
+1 one for jack's rom

X-2-TOUCH
"This is basically a revisited TouchX 10.1 rom updated, a keeper for any TouchX 10.1 lovers. (Looks, Speeeeeeeeeed and stability )"
For me is the best because is the fastest ROM ever, have a lock, the visual is so much great, everything works fine , responsive, with no bugs and very fast but you have only to revert the X2 dial to X1 dial because the X2 dial is incompatible with manilla, there's a cab for this.
yabiostarr - You obviously are a noobie and failed to read the forum rules. Let me help you out with a direct link to it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=471
Here's a couple excerpts taken from the forum rules to help you understand why several senior members like myself become irritated when you post a thread that has been similarly posted several times before, and yet again...you reword and post a new thread basically asking the same exact thing!
1. Search before posting
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.
DO check whether your question has been asked before!
There are some questions that have been asked before several times.
Use the “Search” function on the brown menu bar on the top of the page. There you have the options the have Google search inside XDA-developers site or to use the built-in forum search.
If your search has no/unsatisfying results, try with different keywords.
If your question has been asked, read the thread or use the “Search” function to search through that specific thread.
If you don’t find the answer, try posting in that thread as chances are bigger someone can help you.
Alternatively you can start using the XDA-Developers FireFox & IE Search Bar Plug In.

any half intelligent person would know not to repost/ask the same thing twice in an open forum... even before reading 'rules'
yabiostarr... you got what you wanted... you've had 4 people with different suggestions... are you gonna try them all now? it should keep you busy for the next weekend or so...

If you tell me that you like a certain rom for a certain reason i would compare and contrast it to others opinions and then probably try it myself. but i dont have time to try ever rom. usually users opinions help me more than the updates stated on the roms, i try to read most post, but i just end up wasting time . thats why i asked...

You claim you don't have time to try every ROM, but you've already tried a few within' the last couple of days? There's not many more to try and you've already gone through the most updated regular ROMs and your 2 threads wouldn't have ever been needed!

Back on topic: So everyones basically saying try experimenting and view things from your own perspective. We don't mind that you ask these kinds of questions but asking again and again can be a tad annoying.
//sarcasm ...
narrr... we mind these questions ... lol
there's too many open variables to give a definitive answer...

But I want you to tell me what ROM you use or have used and why you like it. And I want everyone else to tell me the same. That way I can see who uses or likes which ROM the most and then I'll use that ROM because it's the most popular ROM that EVERYONE uses so it's gotta be the best ROM ever made!
