Hello
1) i rooted and installed the rotohammer rom to my tmo us tab, was getting 3g speed prior to installing rom.
2) downloaded and installed tmobile modem switcher 2g/3g
3) switcher reboots to 3g mode but only displays H icon on data connection.
4) checked my apn settings and they are current tmobile us.
What can i do to fix this and get 3g internetspeed?
i searched around and only found links to rotohammers modem switcher .

3g = H. Both are high speed broadband.

[Q] CM7 on roaming

Hi,
I flashed the latest stable CM7 for the i9000 last night and now i can't get 3G signal. I flashed back to the stock Bell rom and everything worked fine, but when I put CM7 I only get a roaming signal.
I'm on Fido in Montreal and I've put the correct fido apn, but the phone recognizes the sim as CAN Rogers Wireless Inc. Before it would first state Rogers and then automatically switch to Fido and I'd have full 3G signal, but now it just says on Rogers and roaming.
I've tried installing different modem files, but still no luck.
I can't make calls or use the internet.
Can anyone please help me?
Thanks in advance!

http://www.techgom.com/2011/10/cf-root-for-gingerbread-235-xxjvt.html
-------------
i hope this help you and don t forgot to save all your files in pc and remove external card
I managed to get it to work after trying different radio and modem files, but now i have another problem.
I am with Fido, but the phone now identifies the network as Rogers Wireless. I know they're both the same network, but before it would be identified as Fido. Is this a problem? Are there any risks of being charged roaming fees?
I'm using the same Fido APN as before...

Hmmmm.... what is your location ? Did you flash a Euro-FW ? The fact your Tab showed being on EDGE-network is not bad, it just means you hadn't activated the data-link in setting-wireless-etc... E or G are the normal cell-bands.
Try to reflash your modem with a JMA,JPZ or JQ2 modem from the thread. Mind you, JQ2 will show up as JQ3 in settings these are the quadband/data-enabled modems working a charm here...
thhx i try it and let u know the outcome
I use RotoHammer Modem switch for 2G voice and 3G for high speed surf. It's much easier for me than flashing TMO's 2G-3G every time you want to use either one. TMO's 2G should be 12 megs and the 3G is 16 megs. I'm not sure why when I downloaded ROTO's switch both files have the same megs. Anyway, just a thought for all of us here.

Hai =)
You should first check your APN, thats where your mobile data en GSM network is connected with. You can find your APN data mostly at your providers site.
Cheers

Its not about connecting to the GSM for data service, i am talking about just the network for normal calls and SMS, the device is not connecting to the provider network.
Secondly where can I get the modem files for this device and what is the process to update the modem file only. Does the firmware files downloaded from sammobile has the modem files built-in too ?

Yes i check the APN and all is OK!when i have turned on 3g i have signal only when i turn off 3g i lost signal
Could be that your area signal isnt that great on 2G network when 3G is off.. try another modem
hello i had issues last week i lost data connection i flashed all different roms trying to fix it ,i think its sorted now i flashed XXJVU stock rom then darky 10.2 re then i flashed cm9 then darky v11 then cm10 then thinkbridge 4.2.2 working well so far if its just your signal try 10. 2 re first
the best reason why it happen because the ROM or FIRMWARE that you installed in your samsung galaxy s is not compatible some firmware and roms are only allowed in a specific country because it contains MODEM that makes your cellphone to have a signal on what country you are in OR the Samsung Galaxy S that you have is only for certain country only like my Samsung Galaxy S SC-02B which is NTTDocomo which has 2.2 froyo firmware when i upgrade it to higher firmware such like jellybean or icecream it successfully upgraded but you cant use the cellphone 100% since the signal will lost because your IMEI is fake or your IMEI is none. check your back of your samsung to check the right IMEI.
SOLUTION:
downgrade your phone back to its original firmware and rom make sure it is the original!
and you will see it will back to its default settings your signal is back so as your IMEI
I am using Hong Kong Modem and I am in the UK with Full Signal and better performance
All Modems will give a signal ..but depends on area that you are in
Flash 2.3.6. Then Root it ...this will put all files back to the way they where..
In your APN settings scroll down to the Authentication Type and make it PAP if its Default for both ..reboot phone if that helps
