Yes, many people are still complain the GPS can't lock(maybe can see satellites) or very slow.
After i saw KarlHegbloom's suggestion to use AngryGPS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15692063&postcount=6283
But in the beginning i don't know how to let it run, so study and study.....
finally i got it
step1: Download gpsd from trigger build12 in here (gpsd in cm7 or build13 are not stable, it hard to lock, i don't why, maybe birgertime can tell what's the differents)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15696219&postcount=6289
step2:
update 0718 :
s0niqu3 made install apk for angrygps, it's very easy way than mine, you can try it,and directly to step4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15721652&postcount=13
manual way(mine): download Angrygps.apk in here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15695743&postcount=6288
Use root explore to replace gpsd in system\vendor\bin\
and put angrygps.apk in system\app and change permission
my setting (read check all, write only check first, execute no check), but someone say he need to check all. anyway you can try both.
Reboot, then angrygps, not angrybird is running.
if you are lucky, your gps become fantastic now.
if not. you should long click desktop(need ADW launch)
step3:Create custom shorcut-> chose your application -> Activities -> AngryGPS -> .AngryGPS
After this you will get a angrygps shortcut in desktop.
step4:
Run it and to config as your wish.
tip: I change setting-general setting-operation mode from standalone to msbased. and now i can lock in twenty seconds.
Please test GPS outdoor
BTW, in CM7 you can turn off gps and turn on, it's all ok.
Thanks atinm&birgertime&KarlHegbloom
Do you think having a custom kernel (Glitch's Kernel to be exact) changes anything?.
Im not getting locks
i didn't try this kernel. but if you can see satellites, then it should be ok

For Launcher Pro Users, you can add the shortcut to angrygps with:
long press home screen --> Shortcuts --> Activities --> AngryGps (pick the first one)
Also, when I first did this gps would not start for me. Nothing happened, no gps icon. I needed to change the permissions on gpsd to include execute and the reboot. Looking good now.
Also I am getting fast locks leaving it in standalone mode.

Seems just fine with maps.
I have not tested navigation.
Does this work with any MIUI builds?
Hey everyone,
So first, this mod seems to work quite well on my phone, admittedly I'm in shock at having locks in just a minute or so, and accuracy under ~10meters. I'll withold final judgment until I've used it for a couple of days.
In the meantime though, here's a modified version of AngryGPS.apk that will show up in your launcher drawer without the need of bettercut/adw/launcherpro/etc.
Its been re-signed by me, so the signature won't match the original version posted, so you must remove the original and clear all its data first.
If you installed it normally, just uninstall through manage applications, else if you pushed the app to /system/app then you need to do:
adb shell
su
cd /system/app
rm -r AngryGPS.apk
cd /
cd /data/data
rm -r com.android.angryGps
Anyway, thanks for the fix, and enjoy.
Cheers,
Whoa...fast.
16 feet accuracy inside.

[Q] Is it safe to run the new "GPS Fix" app released by Samsung on a Cognition Rom?
I am running Cognition v2.3b6, and my GPS works pretty darn well. Get locks on 5-9 satellites within 10-40seconds on a regular basis. When using My Tracks, my GPS never deviates off course and when I use Google Nav it almost always works great.
Yet I am still interested in seeing if using this new app put out by Samsung could further improve my lock times and increase my locks when inside buildings(not that it is all that necessary unless using a "check-in'' app like 4square or Facebook check-in.
So will running this app with my current Cognition rom mess anything up, and could it potentially make my GPS worse?
Appreciate the responses in advance.
My understanding is that all the app does is restore all settings to stock gps. So if you are happy with your configuration do not use it

Answer 1 - no it won't mess up your rom
Answer 2 - most definitely will make gps worse, in time. It's like performing a factory reset, just resets settings as mcord stated

I think samsung should of worded that differently, i don't think anyone wants to use the stock gps settings, its those settings that started this whole gps snafu in the first place.
I felt there was a need for an updated rom dedicated to the Optimus T (USA). I could not find a proper rom with both Wifi Calling and fully-functioning MMS.
Thus, RevOidOptT was born.
Wifi Calling works beautifully and full-size MMS can be sent/received. Also, I incorporated google setup on first boot and edited build.prop to fix locale, currency, and date/time issues.
This is based off Neojn's devoid froyo final and most of the credit goes to him. Thanks, Neojn!
Thanks to blueren for theme and franco for kernel!
IMPORTANT NOTES:
-I am not responsible for bricked devices or any other issues associated with flashing this rom.
-STOCK MMS HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH GO SMS PRO IN ORDER TO FIX MMS SIZING ISSUES ON THE T-MOBILE USA NETWORK. IN ORDER TO SEND/RECEIVE MESSAGES, TAKE THE FOLLOWING STEPS:
1. OPEN GOSMS, HIT MENU BUTTON AND GO TO SETTINGS. THEN, GO TO IMPORTANT TIPS AND SELECT 'Stock SMS uninstalled?'
2. GO BACK TO SETTINGS, SELECT MMS SETTINGS AND SELECT 'Preserve image resolution'
This should give you fully-functional, full-sized MMS. Joy! Joy! Joy!
ALSO, All other messaging apps work with GO SMS installed, regardless of whether stock MMS is present. So feel free to use any messaging app you'd like. (Just be sure the steps above have been taken)
ROM SPECS:
Kernel:
franco.Kernel.v18.1-cfs (Clocked at 600/245 smartass by default. I suggest switching to 748/320 interactivex for optimal speed/battery combination)
Added apps:
noFrills CPU
BatteryCalibration (run after flashing ROM and fully charging phone to optimize battery life)
Added essential sapps
Wifi Calling
Calculator
Calendar
Browser
Carhome
Quick search
Youtube
Clock
Livewallpapers
Music
Movie player
Replaced apps:
LG Keyboard to GB Keyboard
Stock Gallery to Quickpic (much cleaner/faster)
Stock MMS to GO SMS Pro (see important notes above)
Zeam Launcher to LauncherPro
FileManager to FileExpert (very excellent substitute for those that want root access without paying for Root Explorer)
Theme:
SuperBlue Theme v5 (changed boot animation to android particles and removed wallpaper)
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Download RevOidOptT
2. Do NAND backup (not required but HIGHLY recommended)
3. Wipe everything (data, cache, dalvik cache, battery stats, etc.)
4. Flash RevOidOptT
5. Reboot
6. After going through setup, it will force close, just keep going (only a first-time setup bug)
7. Follow instructions above regarding GO SMS Pro settings
8. May have to clear Market cache in order to get apps to show up in 'My apps"
9. Enjoy

General rule is: It's fine as long as you give credit to the people who did any work that you are using. Kernels, roms, apps, scripts etc, if someone else put their time and effort into it, you should credit + thank them, ideally with a link to where it came from.

Question: did you make any adjustments to avoid the phone defaulting to british currency and location? It may be the franco.devoid that I am running, but I would imagine all versions are the same in that respect. Morelocale2 app fixes this, but I would still like to find a code/setting fix.

I'm assuming there's a reason gosms is included, maybe a problem sending MMS using the stock app? Just in case, if I can use a stock aosp ...could someone point me to a link?

Love the rom, wifi calling working great. Thanks!
EDIT: This app has been suspended, it serves no purpose anymore.
By popular demand, here's an app to set undervolt-values. It works on any ROM which runs on a suitable kernel, but needs init.d-support to be able to keep settings between reboots. (If your device supports it you'll get a button you can use, if not a little message in its place.)
WARNING: By using this app, you're playing with fire. It's in fact very likely you'll lose data if trying to see "how low you can go". Do not experiment without backing up everything first.
It's easy to use, and easy to freeze your phone with, make sure you know what you're doing. (Yes, changes become effective as soon as you apply them.)
It's clever when it comes to the volt_scheduler script as well, it only edits the line which sets the values at startup, meaning you can change the script as much as you like, the app won't touch anything else in it. (It also fixes the script-permissions on Topogigi 1.9, which aren't set correctly on a default install.)
The app will NOT let you change the startup-script until you have applied the settings. This is an attempt to avoid applying bad undervolts at startup. (The theory is that your phone will freeze if you're undervolting too much, and hence you won't be able to save those values to the startup script. If you try hard enough however, you will be able to save unstable settings, with the possible consequence of boot-loops and data-loss. I'm not kidding, be careful!)
NOTE: If you're using a system-monitor (System Tuner for example) and it doesn't show the voltages you applied, you need to force-stop and restart it before it'll show the current values (pun intended.)
NOTE2: Tegra 2 never supplies less than 770mV to the CPUs. The app will let you set undervolt below 770 though, and will in brackets show you what the real undervolt (on Tegra2) actually is. (Until recently I thought this was a hardware limit, but learned it is a kernel-limit. There may be kernels out there which can go lower. If the minimum frequency's default voltage is not the same as the kernel's minimum, the numbers in brackets will be off by the difference between the two.)
HEEELP: "I was very stupid and saved the undervolt-values to the startup script without testing properly first. Now it keeps rebooting. Is there anything I can do?" See Post #2.
Happy undervolting!

HEEELP: "I saved the undervolt-values to the startup script without testing properly first. Now it keeps rebooting. Is there anything I can do?"
Yes. The phone cannot be damaged by undervolting, but your data might. First thing you should do is to stop the reboots by pressing and holding "Power" and "Volume Down" to enter CWM.
You will need to have ADB installed on your computer. (The following instructions are for Windows-users.)
Select "Mounts and Storage" in CWM and select "Mount /system"
o In a shell, type:
If you're using a Topogigi ROM:
Code:
adb pull /system/xbin/volt_scheduler c:\
If you're using anything else:
Code:
adb pull /system/etc/init.d/S_volt_scheduler c:\
Now edit the file c:\volt_scheduler or c:\S_volt_scheduler in a PROPER editor like Notepad2 or Notepad++. DO NOT use the regular Notepad. You'll see a line with some numbers enclosed in quotation marks. Replace those numbers with zeroes. Save it.
Then type (Topogigi)
Code:
adb push c:\volt_scheduler /system/xbin/volt_scheduler
del c:\volt_scheduler
adb shell chmod 755 /system/xbin/volt_scheduler
adb reboot
or for other roms:
Code:
adb push c:\S_volt_scheduler /system/etc/init.d/S_volt_scheduler
del c:\S_volt_scheduler
adb shell chmod 755 /system/etc/init.d/S_volt_scheduler
adb reboot
If you're lucky, your phone will boot properly. If it still boot-loops, you've had some sort of corruption and need to wipe. If it still loops you've had corruption on the system partition, a full re-install (or backup-restore) is the last option.

I wish it were that easy. Every phone is different. Mine seems to be completely stable at -75 across the board, and at 800Mhz I can run it at the lowest voltage possible, 770mV. Which is why I run everything at -50 ;-) (I learned a long time ago that balancing on the edge sooner or later makes you fall off.)
Other people have reported that their max stable undervolt is -25mV. There's no single recipe for everybody.
The correct way to test it is to set both min and max-frequencies to the same (for both awake and sleep-modes), then decrease voltage by one step, then run the toughest apps you can think of for at least 15 minutes each. If nothing weird happens, write down the numbers, decrease one step again, etc. etc. until you have found the breaking point for that particular frequency.
Then, and this is important, you need to make sure the phone is able to wake from sleep with those same values. For this you need to set sleep-mode to the normal frequencies again.
If everything works out with that, rinse and repeat with the next frequency. After you're done, you should have a nice set of numbers - increase them all by 25mV. That's your lowest stable voltage for each frequency.
thanks allot for the detailed and super fast reply.

I don't have any more plans for it at the moment, it does what it was designed to do. Open for suggestions though. I did add support for startup-scripts on ROMs with init.d. (I modify PimpMyCpus script, if it's there, to avoid conflicting scripts. If not I create it.)

Long story short: Some ROMs didn't apply the settings at boot due to non-functioning init.d. So I made some changes to better discover which ROMs support it. So, in theory, if the button isn't there, you're running a ROM which it doesn't work on anyway.
This is all very new to me, If I mistakenly remove the button on ROMs where you have working init.d, please report back here with the details of the ROM. (Update to the latest version of the app first.)
I tested it on GR4 cooked with stock kernel (no working init.d support, even when you replace the kernel), GR4 cooked with custom kernel (working init.d), Fr19 (Working init.d), Topogigi (which it was originally designed for - always working) etc.
CM7 has init.d support, but refuses to set the undervolt-values both live and and boot (VorkKernel), I'm looking into that.
I have fr 19 with the latest neoblaze which supports for sure since i checked the logcat. also now with topo 2.0 its missing

Ok, good to hear.
Just a heads up that it now works on VorkKernel (CM7) as well, from appversion 0.6.5.
Right! I've just ported the blindndumb rom Blind Smoke (Mooke OS) to the IncS and have been testing it for the last couple of days - works almost perfectly! (the only thing out if the button backlights - any help would be greatly appreciated!)
Credit where it's due:
I done very little work on this and really the credit has to go to szezso (for the 'Incredible v1.0' rom - the base for my port and a beautiful job all by itself (that in turn was based on CyanogenMod 7.2 rc2, so big hugs there too)) and to blindndumb for the Blind Smoke rom.
Oh also, the guys behind the kitchen. Totally awesome work and makes it a pleasure to port stuff!
Anyway, without further ado... Incredible Smoke!
http://www.mediafire.com/?6obt7c7i7mlw884
I'll try to do screen shots soon but a quick flick over to blindndumb's site has some good shots already (click here). It is a beautiful rom and has a load of really nice features. My new favourite!
Oh, and for the button lights there's this:
Download the attached zip (backligh_files.zip - credit to kimifan316 for the files!)
Install a terminal emulator from the play store.
Next, copy the files in the zip to system\etc
Now, go change the properties on both the files to include execute (in esfile explorer this is done via long press, properties, change then tick execute for all users).
Now launch your terminal app.
in here type:
cd system
cd etc
su
sh bklights_init.sh
This is only temporary until someone can help me fix it properly

Install the superuser app and all should be well.
I have to say that the rom looks really nice and also very smooth.
I only can't manage to copy the files in the zip file to /system/etc.
When I do that I get a message that it has failed to copy.
It looks like I don't have the persmission to do that.
Does anyone know how to copy these files to /system/etc?
Good point about installing superuser - I forgot to mention it in the post. I'm still quite new at this but I'll try and stick superuser in by default with the next version...
Looks good , How about the battery life ?
Maestro, ensure you have installed superuser for root access and enabled writing to system. In es file explorer this is done by hitting settings, scrolling to the bottom, turning on root explorer and mount file system... Let me know if it still doesn't work.
thx a lot! it helped. I wasn't aware of the settings in es file explorer.
So the lights do work now.
Only thing I experience is a kind of a delay when light turn off and on. So when turning off the screen the buttons stay on for a few seconds and then turn off. Also when turning on the screen again the buttons will turn on after a few seconds. But the behaviour is not always the same.
But it's not a big deal cause they do work! I just wanted to share.
Thx again!

Just so you know the flashlight does work just not from that button. Install one from the market and it's ok...

Edit: Let me know how it works
Cool, thanks for that. I've sorted out the naming bits in the next release but I'm still working on the backlights before I upload it. Also think I have the su access in there by default now too... Hopefully be able to upload soon.
when trying to copy to system\etc folder the es file explorer says copy failed what am i doing wrong
also am i supposed to unzip the zip file?
See this one for how to write to system/etc: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26513213&postcount=9
And yes, it needs to be unzipped.
A few member in the burst thread know about what I have done SystemUI wise to give us a little bit of that Stock ICS flare. After so I did the same with the framework-res. Well here is a thread dedicated just to that. I hope you enjoy. These do work! I use them myself. Screen shots shall be uploaded sooner or later for proof. Disclaimer: I am not responsible if something goes wrong. MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP, just in case.
Below is my 4th revision of a SystemUI: Signal bar, bluetooth, wi-fi, silent, vibrate and battery is changed to stock ICS blue.
www.dropbox.com/s/3ippqv6698z5j7a/SystemUI4.4.apk
instructions: for ease do this.
Of course rename the file back to "SystemUI.apk".lol don't want a awkward situation. In the directory of where you would adb your device place this in the directory and navigate to the folder where said file would be located type.
- adb remount (remounts device and can give permissions)
- adb push SystemUI.apk /system/app/SystemUI.apk
--Should move accordingly. Then this.
- adb shell
- su
- reboot
SystemUI is finished!!!
Below is the modified framework-res. The toggle switches for like wifi and bluetooth in the settings menu is changed. The spinner icon for when your phone shuts off is changed. the scrubber when you use your volume control is changed. The USB, ADB, Dload/Uload is changed.
Download it.:https://www.dropbox.com/s/cw7bxsvljplwiwb/framework-res.apk
Instructions: Move the file to your directory where your android stuff is on your computer like for systemUI.
- adb remount
- adb push framework-res.apk /system/framwork/framework-res.apk
-- Should move!
- adb shell
- su
- reboot
There you go!
There will be more revisions in the future when i have the time! Oh and some work with the contact and phone apk.
Hope this works for you and that you love it! I know I do.

I noticed that too.. I really do not know what happened at that point... Something may have went wrong when I was switching out the scrubbers... No idea. I will look into it when I get home from work. Sorry for the inconvenience.

No inconvenience, just wanted to mention it in case you hadn't seen it and want to fix it.
Looks like the bar is not in the same place on the Y axis as the original, and it's redrawing a blank page after looping, which causes the jump. guessing

The download is the original. I believe it is just a issue with the phone because when I was tinkering with drop down alittle bit it started that. And I will definitely look into fixing it. It isn't a major issue. I mean. I never pay attention I just look for complete and not installed lol. At the moment I'm working on changing apk icons for our phone and editing the framework for the dialer. It is really ugly in my opinion.

Actually the stock dialer (and phone.apk, incoming call screen, etc.) will not scale to my resolution (192dpi), so if you have a way to fix this, it would be major! Using Go Contacts (and dialer) EX as a substitute, which works but is very slow.

Get exDialer and get the ICS theme for it. I like it alot better in my opinion. And I got a request to cook up a rom. I'm implicating a lot of the stuff you have seen throughout the thread. Stock ICS apps, my systemUI and framework.
Should have the ROM uploaded sometime today!

Yes that's what I have but it is very slow. Loading the dialer/phone app is very, very slow, same for contacts.
While you're building something new, the AOSP lock screen would be killer, and the dialer & phone apps need to be reverted to stock. Those are some of the biggest problems with the Burst stock ICS IMHO.

I actually found where our lockscreen lurks. Took me 4 hours to find it. And the dialer and contacts... I have the Stock ics apps for it.. I have tried alot of ways. But I can not get them to work to save my life.
And I'm actually done building. Just a matter of uploading the rom.
Stock ICS contacts and dialer. Ours has so much that they do not so it will be tricky to revert but I will keep fooling with photoshop and see what I can do.

Yes, I did the same thing, and had the same kind of success rate (zero). Couldn't get stock ICS dialer and contacts to work.
