New Market - INVERTED - v3.0.26 and 3.0.27 - Android Themes

These versions are fully inverted and I added some colored markets also... Credit to user rujelus22 @xda for finding the smali file we were all looking for. This is in an update.zip format so you can either flash it like a theme or extract the apk and push it to system/app.. your call.. I flash it and it works great.. I haven't had any fc's on paid apps but if ya have any issues let me know... this was the hardest inversion I've had to do so far so I hope you all enjoy it.. It shows up as Dark Market in the app drawer since Black Market is kind of ecsneads catch phrase... ... *Credit to user Mbk @ droidforums for helping me include the app icon and now the buttons stretch a lot better... Enjoy!
READ THIS FIRST...........
Updated install method 7/24/11
For user with ONLY a Vending.apk in system/appI have tested this out numerous times and with different scenarios and it works every time... rather than using the zips I include, I recommend using the signed apk method.. If you already have the 3.026 or 3.027 market installed, whether it's the stock one or one of the inverted ones, use root explorer and go to data/app and see if you have a com.android.vending.apk in there.. if not, go to system/app and rename the Vending.apk to Vending.bak.. then install my signedDarkMarket.apk of your choice.. don't choose to open it after it installs.. go back to root explorer and go to data/app and move the com.android.vending.apk to system/app.. if you get a pop up that says it can't be pasted cause it's read only, hit the "mount r/o" tab at the top and then hit paste.. rename it to Vending.apk and long press it and unslect the "write" in the top rom and hit 'ok'... to test it, long press Vending.apk and see if allows you to move it.. if you get the pop up that says you can't move it cause it's read only, then reboot now.. if you don't get the pop up, hit the top tab that says "mount r/w or r/o/" and then try to move it again.. you should be good now so you can reboot.. check the app drawer for "Dark Market".. it doesn't show as Market anymore...
For users that have a Vending.apk in system/app and a com.android.vending.apk in data/app
First, rename both to .bak instead of .apk... then install one of the themed Dark Market signed apks... basically it's the same as the above method. Move the com.android.vending.apk from data/app to system/app.. rename it Vending.apk, set the permissions to read only.. reboot..

This doesn't work on my EVO running CM7......I tired both your zips and nothing seems to change except my Market apk is gone now, THANKS for theming it but it just doesn't work on my device!

Did you flash them?.. I mentioned that I can't test it but I believe the updater.scripts are different from moto to HTC.... so I would think you either need to push it to system/app with root explorer or drop the Apk into an update.zip meant for the Evo using a PC and then flash it... I'm sorry tho.. I know xda supports over 100K phones now but I only really know the D1... lol... let me know if ya decide to venture a little and try that out tho... thanks..

I didn't flash them because I tend to push things via ADB because I'm weird like that..hahaha...BUT I'll take a look at the script and see what I can do with it on my end.
Once again, thanks for sharing your work! Is good to see people contributing to the community in any way they can!!

No prob.... also, if the Apk is gone you might wanna try uninstalling updates before you push it..... when 2.3.6 came out we had that same issue when we inverted it... just an idea...

Hey what theme are you running in those screen shots? Reason being I want those wifi and signal icons.

Stock Chevy's SS 5.4 for the D1... same icons he uses on all his roms.... I had to use stock to test all the colors... I have 9 themes of my own that I normally have on....

many thx OP.
Works fine on SGSI9000
Pushed to system/app and data/app
I edited the market_tab_bg_overlay_left.9 and market_tab_bg_overlay_right.9 as the current ones overlapped the text = paid apps, free apps etc.
So i made those transparent. i also made that background of the tabs transparent also to remove the grey background.
If you dont mind that i have also added this to my theme. Of course all credits go to you and ill post a link back to this thread so users can follow ur work etc.

That's great man... glad it worked for ya... I have my own themers section on droidforums for a linkback but I'm not sure how this site feels about different site links.... but glad it worked for ya... why system AND data tho?...never heard that one before... lol...

We have Vending.apk in system/app and com.vending-1.apk in data/app.
Btw how comes you stripped so much out to the point there is no default app drawer icon lol

Because the Apk errors when ya compile it if ya leave in the extra new folders... so I left them out so that it wouldn't error... that's why I added the market icon zip above... to replace the icon with the one I linked.....

Tried everything in the op couldn't get it to install, and clockwork recovery doesn't support update script anymore since 2.3

Flash on my droid x but can't find the market anywhere.

Look for dark market.... and even tho it is confirmed to work on the DX, it might have some issues based on different roms... an admin on mydroidworld said to flash it over the stock new market so maybe try that... if it doesn't work, I'm sorry but you can always flash the stock 3.0.26 market ... its posted all over most of the forums....

very nice find rujelus. we were on the track of finding public numbers to match. i never thought to find the number in framework and then do a search in vending source code. impressive find

OP updated with new links that include the app icon and the buttons stretch better

D1 don't work on HD2 with CM7 Nand.
I flash it with MAGLDR but nothing change. My market is still green.

You might need to push it to system/app with root explorer.... also, check if you have a Vending.Apk in system and data... if so, delete the data/Vending.Apk..... then push to system.... unfortunately I can't guarantee anything, especially on devices I've never touched... but its a universal Apk so I believe it is the method of installation that varies per phone/rom/etc......

Gingerbread based theme for Ascend and MDPI & HDPI devices Update [1/10]

Update 1/10 Minor update to some, maybe major to others, I've made some changes to the status bar pull down for Ascend users, I've changed the main text to be black, I'm still not completely happy with it, so i'll keep tweaking... Also, I've added support for HDPI devices in the Gingerbread3.5.zip, in general the theme should work on a wider variety of devices.

Update 1/9 The theme is pretty much complete
In order for Ascend users to get the white clock you need to download buildprop and replace the one under your system folder with it. You'll have to be rooted and use a file manager or you could use adb shell or a terminal to replace your build.prop
Another change to the build.prop for the popups!!!
Special thanks to yuyuye for the information.
I've attached some screenshots of the theme in action. There are many more changes not visible in the screenshots, the majority of the framework-res have been updated to match the new theme.
UPDATE 12/16
I've attached the metamorph theme in case anyone wants to try it, i would say it's beta quality as it's not finished, but it's usable. Just load the v0.1.zip file on to your sdcard, download metamorph and install away. If you have any basic questions, feel free to ask but I won't be providing an major support yet because it's not finished. I would say it's 75% complete at the most. And as always, you shouldn't have any problems but USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!
UPDATE 12/22
New version v0.3 with a change to the submenu, I changed the submenu to white so the text is legible until i can get the Ascend deodexed and properly change the color of the text...
The download labeled GingerbreadAscend3.zip is may specifically for the Ascend I don't recommend anyone apply it on any other phones
The download labeled Gingerbread3.zip is for any and all MDPI phones
Have fun!!!

Insrtuctions for installation:This is a Metamorph theme, so download and install Metamorph. Put the theme on your sdcard. Make sure your phone is rooted, you have busbox downloaded and installed and that usb debugging is turned on
For Ascend users, download your appropriate build.prop file and use a program like root explorer or subfs to copy and paste it into the /system/ directory, if you don't want to purchase one of those programs, download this program from the market "Mount /system (rw / ro)" open it and mount the system as r/w then use adb shell or a terminal emulator to copy the file over
Code:
su
cp /sdcard/build.prop /system/build.prop

UPDATE 2/3
I am no longer supporting this theme, I'm moving on to bigger and better. Happy themeing!!!!
Made a little progress using apk manager to decompile some of the xmls, got the date to show up white but still not the time and popup option menus(not sure what to call them). If anyone has any expertise, I could use the help....
Keep up the good work, I am looking fws to checking it out!
If you send me your framework-res.apk I can fix the code for the pop-up menu text.

Thanks, but problem is I don't have a "values" folder in my framework, much less an xml called "style" in any of the folders...
wait..
I'm an idiot... found it
It wasn't re-compiling the whole framework for me either, i had to to trick it to get it to re-compile the styles.xml by putting it in a different folder and renaming it... Flashed it to my phone.... and... no difference, pulled the framework back down and made sure the changes where present and they are... the Ascend doesn't seem to use those files at all... I'm pretty sure too because i accidentally deleted all the files in the values folder except the styles.xml and the phone works fine...
Thanks for your ideas Benny879, if you have any insight as to whats going on, I'd appreciate any help you could give, in the mean time i'm going to be pouring through these xml files, looking for any clues...
For anyone following the progress on this, the problem seems to be that this phone uses odex files instead of the more easily assessable jar or apks, so I'm looking into deodexing the necessary files... If anyone could offer assistance, I would appreciate it...

The gingerbread metamorph theme I'm working on will change your lock screen sliders, your notification bar and slide down, your dialog confirmation buttons, market place tab button and a bunch of other misc graphics, your signal bars, battery, bluetooth, etc... The theme i'm working on doesn't touch the launcher. i personally use launcher pro, so this theme doesn't conflict with it, but if you want your launcher specifically to look like gingerbread's, you can find themes already made for launcher pro..

[APP] 04.10.2011 - MARKET v2.3.6 - 2 Versions Black & TruBlue

Updated 04.10.2011
Market (Vending.apk) v2.3.6 - 2 Modded Versions
************************
NOTE: Trying to work out FC Issues people are having. If you want to try this, make sure you have a back up of your /system/app/Vending.apk, as you might have to revert back to it.
A nandroid backup in Clockwork will also accomplish this.
The following is experimental until FCs and new market is worked out. Try at your own risk
************************
BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING: Check if you got the 2.3.6 Market update automatically pushed to your phone
Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All
If you *DID* receive the update, click UNINSTALL UPDATES to revert back to version 2.3.4
Both of these will ONLY install over the 2.3.4 update.
NEITHER of these will work installed over 2.3.6 (and just FCs Market when run. See below for further instructions)

Recommended Installation
BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING: Check if you got the 2.3.6 Market update automatically pushed to your phone
Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All
If you *DID* receive the update, click UNINSTALL UPDATES to revert back to version 2.3.4
Both of these will ONLY install over the 2.3.4 update.
NEITHER of these will work installed over 2.3.6 (and just FCs Market when run).
Once you're back to 2.3.4, I recommend FREEZING Market Updater in Titanium Backup.
Then you should be able to flash the zip, or use the Root Explorer method below
_________________________________________________
Personally, I used
Root Explorer and did the following:
Uninstalled updates (reverted back to 2.3.4, as above).
Force closed Market App
Root Explorer > Renamed /system/app/Vending.apk > Vending.org (Original)
Copied new Vending.apk to system/app/
Changed permissions rw-r--r--
Exit.
I basically keep a Vending.ORG (original), Vending.BLU (Blue), and Vending.apk (BnB, currently using) in my system/app/ folder until it's running stable... so I can switch back and forth at ease. Kinda ghetto.. but works for me
I've tested both apks (inside the zips), but haven't actually flashed the zips-- they should be fine, but let me know if you have any probs.
Enjoy!

Yeah, I get the same result as Tony...I rebooted...cleared data on the app, still fc...oh well, thanks for the app, hopefully can get it up and running.

Maybe turn off auto-update on market?
If it doesn't work with 2.3.6, that may be causing the issue.
Click uninstall update on market and see if it works; that will give you your answer.

Thanks, my best colors of all! Now I just have to say this, can you make a red one????? Please with sugar on top for the folks who use my red theme!
when initially testing, I had a bunch of FC probs. But restoring (renaming) the original Vending apk always brought me back to normal. Then rinse and repeat. I've been solid with no FCs since last night, but keep me updated.
And yes, my market updater is frozen as well.

Hey I tried flashing the trublue zip file over the 2.3.4 version of the market but when I tried to open it I his kept getting force closes, haven't tried it using root explorer. Just thought I would throw that in there.
I started having problems today as well, I'll put a big note in the OP about this, and see if I can get to the bottom of the issue. If anyone else knows, pm me.
Did the same thing the op did with keeping them all there and just renaming but I can't get the fc to stop on the themed ones. I can get them yo run for like one minute and thats it

04/13 - Changed boot animations to install in /data/local
04/12 - Added Dolphin Browser dock
All files are installed by flashing in recovery.
As always, I'm not responsible if you mess up your phone. All files posted here have been tested and are working on my personal phone. Always make a backup before flashing anything.
BOOT ANIMATIONS
Replaces bootanimation.zip located in /data/local.
These are intended to be used with VirusROM B3 (Sense & Nonsense) but should work on older versions. I actually created these while on B1. All boot animations are 480x800.
I'm open to suggestions and comments. If there's a boot animation you would like see, describe the effect and I'll see what I can do.

bootanimation.zip and downanimation.zip in /system/customize/resource are SYMLINKS to the actual files in /data/local. This was done to make modification easier. So you should be replacing the files in /data/local instead of overwriting the symlinks.
Edit:
Actually, I don't know what would happen if you flashed this in recovery without the /data partition mounted... would it overwrite the symlinks or just fail??
Nice! (10char)

It overwrites in /system.
I just tried changing the one on my phone in /data/local back to the original from v2 but the changes didn't take effect. I originally thought the /data/local one was the one to change since the only boot animation in the zipped ROM is located there. However, when I was testing these it never changed until I updated the one in /system.
I dont know if you make these or not.. but could you possibly make one for Dolphin so it doesnt load up the standard browser?
Thanks!!!

Strange. I just tried all of them again on my phone and everyone worked.
Has anyone else flashed a boot animation and it not work?
Bump for new goodies.
Just lost my themed market today. Running VR1b3 for days now with no problems. Did nothing today except download Switchpro and reboot. Bammmm, there went themed VR market. Any possible chance for a Themed VR market Zip Fix?
Great job by the way. Appreciate all the work you boys do.

I lost my again today. But this time, when I looked at my apps in the market, only 6 of the 80 something showed up. The rest, according to the market, were not installed. Had to re-download all of them again to get them to show up.
I mess around with the newest market for an hour of so but couldn't get anything working. Half the time when I installed in on the phone, market would disappear from the app drawer and the other half it would be there but force close when opened. On two occasions, I opened it and it was themed on version 2.3.6, but the next time I open it it would be back to normal. I have no idea what was going on there. I eventually gave up and decided to wait for Virus to release an update. I might mess around some more later if I have the time but it's such a nice day it's time to get outside. Looks like some disc golf is in order.
Thanks for the update and thanks for taking the time to look into it. I definately understand where we're at now with the themed market.
Did I hear Disc golf? Very nice man, Great way to unwind.

Thanks. But not my ROM, XxXViRuSXxX's ROM. He deserves the credit. I'm merely altering what he's already done to make it more personal if you will.
I lost my themed market on the blue epidemic theme and went into settings, manage applications, found market, hit uninstall updates and the themed market came back. Might help on this theme too.

[Rom][9-19-11]Revolt Rom 1.5

Hello all! Here is my first rom, Revolt Rom!!! This is using the latest update from LG except for the boot.img. It has been fully cleaned out to decrease size and to increase speed. It will continue to be a work in progress! I hope you all enjoy!!!
What is this?
This is a very lightweight rom built both for speed and stability. This rom is based off of the latest LG update and does retain root. It is fully deodexed, and debloated. Almost all of LG has been replaced and as time goes by, I hope to remove the rest. Swype has also been changed to the newest Beta. A few items have been replaced with AOSP versions to increase speed and decrease size. Also included is the appwidgetpicker to clean that up. I have also began with the Gingerbread theme.

V. 1.3 and Older

3.) Boot to Clockwork, select "Backups/Restore", then "Advanced Restore". Select "RevoltRom1.1", then select "System".
4.) Once the restore finishes, wipe at least cache partition, and advanced/Wipe Dalvik-Cache. To have a fresh clean start you can wipe data also, but is not required.

he said its based off the latest update and still retains root. Can you give root to others who are not rooted yet???
SO nervous. Even though, I know the phone is fudge proof. I extract into clockwork, but with winrar, there was a learning curve there. So I got that. It appears to be okay. Fully rebooted.
Edit: HOLY CRAP!!!!! SMOOOOOTH. I have that 3d draw effect, and it never ran smooth. Brings a tear to my eye. Desktop scrolling is sweet!!
Edit: Yuck, that launcher is going bye bye. Is that a stock launcher?

So far, so good. Smooth performance, no glitches or hang ups. Signed up for the swype beta to get that back. Did notice that I still can't install kindle from the market. Ah well. I'm getting used to google's reader. Looking forward to where you take this rom, it is a great start!
Happy to see someone other the thecubed adding ROMs to this machine. Although, you have been releasing some amazing mods and themes. All of which I love and have been on my phone. Also, has anyone switched to this from decrapped? and if so, how would you rate the 2? Which one is better since mt's theme and doesn't work with his ROM.
Lovin the ROM, nice and smooth and I like the look of the notification bar
Random though....is there a way to fix the delay between when the screen turns on and when it's active?? From the first day with this phone it's bothered me, I unlock the phone...wait 2-3 seconds...then swipe. Same when I pull the phone away from my ear on a a call

Regarding the message bubble design you requested. In order tho have light text on a dark bubble requires decompiling/recompiling the Whattsapp apk and editing the xmls to change the text color. I have tried that in the past, but with little success .. as Whattsapp doestnt seem to be able to recompile properly with the conventional decompiling methods. That is why you will see most mods have only black text on lighter bubbles. Not so easy to do an inverse design.

I am well aware of how to decompile and recompile apks.
The issue is with the Whattsapp apk recompiling after editing the Styles.xml within the res values folder. As many themers have found, there is an issue with recompiling WhatsApp apk after performing such edits. No one seems as yet able to successfully recompile the apk and alter the message bubble text color. You are doing well if you can change the text to inverse using ApkTool.
I myself prefer APK Manager than ApkTool as its command line structure is much better laid out and has more options.

Are you able to change the black bubble text to white (within the speech bubbles)....?
The trouble lays in that part of the modifications.
I have yet to see anyone successfully recompile the Whatsapp.apk (myself included) and have the changes (black text to white) actually work after finalization.
Many have tried editing both the Style.xml and Color.xml.. but the it just don't take after recompiling. The person who cracks this is going to make everyone happy.

Do you have place in your internal memory ( /system ? )
Did you set Permissions to all ?

I love your customizations Yorzua, the best around!
BTW, I installed a modded version of tweetdeck thanks to you Yorzua and I followed the same steps as you did and it worked flawlessly.
Downloaded apk to my Nexus S SD Card, then I open *Root Explorer* (you can use any file explorer with root capabilities: Script Manager - ES FIle Explorer - ROM Toolbox) changed mounting to writeable and moved the modded app to /system/app ..... then changed permissions to file so it reads: rw--r--r--
After doing so, I rebooted my phone open the app drawer and app was there, clicked on it and it works as it is supposed to.
Can you also make a BBMessenger look-a-like..??
