First thanks to kamma and his thread HERE. This fixed was 100% inspired by his attempt, i only had the benefit of having access to some files he didnt. This thread is based off his, but with the files from 2.3.3 which did not have the jumping issue.
I have NOT tested extensively, but in my limited experience(and that of a few others) this does fix the problem.
Code:
[color=#FF0000]USE THIS SCRIPT AT YOUR OWN RISK[/color]
This is just a proof-of-concept fix. I dont guarantee any improvement, because i have not much time to test it.
I simply replace battery libs and apps extracted from [color=#FF0000]ATT 2.2.3*[/color].
How to:
1. Download [color=#FF0000]CMW_Jug6_batfix.zip*[/color] (bellow in Attached Files)
2. Copy it to sdcard or sdcard-ext
3. Reboot into CWM recovery
5. Click "install zip from sdcard"
6. Choose zip from sdcard
7. Pick the [color=#FF0000]CMW_Jug6_batfix.zip*[/color]
8. Install
9. Reboot
V2 - Removed BatteryManager.apk & BatteryReport.apk as they are not needed
Gonna flash this now and reboot frenzy!
Brilliant, will try immediately! Does it matter if you switch between roms, do you have to re-apply then?
Will test, thanks Jug.
Guess I would need to deodex it for a deodexrom?

Yes as you go between roms you would need to reapply, that is until(if its working 100%) its added to the roms themeselves.

it has both, but if you want u can remove the 2 .odex files from the zip.
Its not as easy as just removing the odex files.... lol... it has to be actually "deodexed" there is a difference. I will do this if you don't know how...

I recommend this.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Installed at 85% battery life, was thinking it was actually closer to 95% at the time I ran this as I hadn't done much since it was fully charged. Didn't wipe battery stats or anything, it started back up at 84%. Did a few things to see how quickly it would drop, when it came down to 81%, I rebooted and wiped battery stats and davlk cache. Took a while on reboot after those wipes, started up at 80%. Still think it should have been higher than the 85% it started at, so I'm charging up to 100% and running Battery Calibration app. Will edit this post when I get the results, but it's not bouncing around like it was before. Awesome work Jug6!
Edit: Charged it to full charge, wouldn't charge past 98%, so I ran the battery calibration app, restarted, and on restart is said 99% and full charged. It was recommended in the app to fully discharge battery and then fully recharge without interruption. Will try to drain it quickly -> Pandora!

I think I would need some of the 2.3.3 framework to do it though..
Basically,
Each .apk has a "classes.dex" file in it.. when a .apk or .jar for that matter has an .odex file associated with it. whish is the case with the Atrix and other phones too... what has happened is that the "Classes.dex" file has been taken out of the .apk/.jar file and placed in a .odex form. this way it is device spacific and cannot be moddified or replaced using generic .apk/.jar files .. i.e. customized ...
he reason it is "working" for you, is because your phone is the spacific device these files were made for... so it isn't crapping out. At least, i think this is the reason...
In order to run a deodex on these file though, I would need some of the reference files that they are dependant on in order to run the script to do so. hat is the "Boot class file paths" that you see below...
I am glad to see these are seeming to fix the problem though. I will see what I can do, but I am getting errors running the script:
Code:
D:\Atrix\Baksmali>java -jar baksmali-1.2.6.jar -x Ba

ok tried this out on kens gb rom, started at 96, played a game got it down to 93, rebooted into cwm, wiped dav and batt stats, rebooted, was still at 93. so im letting it get down to 85 or so and see if it keeps. this may be the fix for this. i thank you so much for it working this good jug, and hope it is implemented soon.
i just have one thing to say to jug::
: " ooooh ITS THE JUGGANAUT *****"
i have cherry 0.5b, i go in recovery with 83%, i flash this zip, no wipecache no wipe stats no wipe and when i reboot i have 83%, it's work well, and it work with deodex
I just did the following
- Phone was at 70%, restarted
- Phone then read 90%
- Installed this
- Phone still reads 90%, I will restart at lunch time in a few hours to see if it jumps at all
I am running Kenneth's stock 2.3.4 ROM
Thanks!
ok phone at 87, rebooting.....
edit: phone still at 87, YAY!!!!!!!!
Was at 73 before and after reboot, seems to be fixed so far...
Did the following:
-phone was showing 96% (about 3 hours ago)
-installed this (didn't wipe dalvik cache or battery stats)
-restarted and was showing 96%
-been using the phone for the last Hour
-phone showed 76%
-restarted
-phone is still showing 76%
Great finally with have a working solution
PS:why should I wipe dalvik cache?

Thanks for the heads up. I was just testing this on KA5 for funsies. It looked like it went ok but there was a prob with temp root at the beginning and it looked like a few java errors at the end. I'll re-download and give it another go.
Edit: Ah, looks like it's working now. Temp root worked and it downloaded the modem and kernel.
Edit2: So it looked as though everything worked fine, but when I went to install it I got
E:Can't symlink /system/bin/cat
E:Failure at line15:
symlink toolbox SYSTEM:bin/cat
Installation aborted.

Yea I got the same thing as well. Thanks again, will give it another go.
Update: The process was more in-depth when deodexing. Signing went through np and when I flashed through clockwork it worked (goodbye splash screen!). There must be some issue with KA5 though. It got through to the Galaxy S screen and then started vibrating and then blackscreen. T_T
Thank god for this.. (Deodexer)
Thanks untermensch, your the best
Really really appreciate this. Thanks a bunch!

My final attempt last night did not shoot out the "signed_ROM.zip" at the end. I ran it again this morning on KA5 and when it finished I had the signed_ROM.zip in the folder. Put that on my internal, flashed through clockwork and viola! Doedexed KA5 with root and modded 3e recovery. I can't thank you enough Untermensch for putting this together for everyone.

I noticed one thing. During the deodexing process I got [null] on one file in the core.odex. After it had all finished up I looked in the framework folder and core.odex was still there. So am I correct in assuming that it did not doedex properly? Other than that everything else looks golden.
Oh this is sick. i was looking for this all day the otherday when i was trying to deodex ka5! you rock and rule. i cant wait to explore the possiblities!

I deleted the core.odex file and rebooted just to see what would happen and it soft bricked and is stuck at the Vibrant screen. So it seems the only issue lies in deodexing the core.jar at this point.

yep that was an baksmali error, likely you could run the script again and it
would baksmali OK.
this script is a real system stress test, any way I increased the java maxmem
setting for framework files to 1024m added error logging and the script will
now stop if there is an error. hopefully to prevent a broken ROM from being
released.

Pretty sure the core.odex [null] error I got happened every time I ran the program. I ran it once after the 1:25am update and it happened. That is also the time it did not produce the signed_ROM.zip. I ran it again this morning after I saw the OP had been updated and it did produce the signed_ROM.zip but I still got the [null] error on core.odex. I'm going to Odin KA5 and do it again right now. I will let you know how it works out.
On a side note. I flashed the one I recieved this morning with everything being deodexed except the core.jar and it ran great until I deleted the odex file. Anywho, will test now. Also, not sure if this matters but I am running 32-bit Windows 7.
Update1: Initial news is good. Core.jar was deodexed properly with no errors. Will let you know how the entire process fairs once its completed.
Worked perfectly. I got no errors and everything deodexed properly. Flashed it on my phone and it's running just fine. You are awesome.
Thanks for retesting, glad it worked, there are thousands of files being generated
an lots of java processes being spawned so there are bound to be an occasional
error. I have added an automatic retry when there is an error to the next version
should be posted some time tomorrow.
I'm about 3/4 the way through testing this out - it seems to be working just fine with the exception that every command is appended with "ATTRIB" is not recognized as...
Hopefully it will work anyway.
One thing I noticed that might speed the script up in the beginning would be a root check, I have already rooted this rom but it still needed to run rageagainstthecage.
I've been looking for something like this forever now, thanks so much! Can't wait to play with it.

Oh God, nobody actual provides a proper explanation these days. Ok kiddies, sit down and listen.
Odex'd ROMs are usually stock, unless a ROM developer makes them that way. Basically, APK files normally have separate associated files with a .odex extension that help increase performance and lower boot time. How? Well a .odex file is part of the dalvik cache and helps the system expect which apps are installed and going to run. It's loaded into the RAM at boot time, and every APK has one. The downside is that because it's loaded into RAM and it's not part of the APK itself, it becomes extremely difficult (near impossible) to modify an APK. Normally the APKs we mod have to do with system themeing but there are other types of APKs we modify.
It's kind of like knowing the bouncer at a nightclub ahead of time, and being able to skip the line and get in quicker. Problem is, if you tell your friend to go to that nightclub, the bouncer doesn't know your friend and he can't get in (you modify an APK, but the .odex file is still associated with the original version of the APK).
Deodex'd files solve that issue by putting the .odex files back inside of the APK in the form of a file called classes.dex. Why does this help? Well, it makes modifying APKs a whole lot easier since everything is in one neat little package, and the .dex file will be loaded into the same general area in memory as the rest of the files in the APK. The downside is that at first boot the system may be slow since the cache has to be regenerated all over again.
It's like getting friendly with a bouncer at a night club, but then the nightclub changes bouncers (you wipe the dalvik cache) and you have to get friendly with the new one all over again so you're able to skip the lines (you have to rebuild the dalvik cache the first boot after you wipe so that you can boot quickly after that).
--------------------
If you don't want to modify a ROM or you modify it and that's 100% how you want it from now on, then it's OK to odex it. It's kind of like "finalizing" it. It'll boot and probably perform a little quicker, but you can't mod it anymore until it's deodexed. If you constantly flash mods for ROMs, you'll want to stick with a deodex'd ROM. 99% of the time, ROMs come deodex'd. Stock OEM/Carrier ROMs are usually odexed.
Thanks for explaining...i got it...nice

Hello my fellow Android crack flashers! So Volk and I have wrote(him) and tested(me) his g2x nullifier for our phones. Well it works flawlessly! Which his thread is here. So with our learning adventures he has helped me port it to the O2x. So here is the run down. This was originally created as the g2xscrubber was insufficient enough for our flashberry addiction, and on top of that if wouldn't wipe our /cache either. And yes this is the same thing from the p990 dev thread but I just wanted to post in the official su660 thread since its avail for me to do so...
So the domino effect has begun. This is a simple script that will wipe your internal partitions cleaner then a whistle and get it dam near like new status, perfectly ready for a ROM. Like as if you just purchased it and didnt have any data on it nor a ROM and needed to be flashed. And yes it came all tricked out like that with CWM and all.. haha
So here it is...
The O2x Nullifier
This uses a special command in combination with a special file to overwrite the internal partitions with 0's, hence "Null" for 0 and "-ifier" for the fact that it does something. It also formats the partitions afterward, including /cache too! Enjoy!
Some brief need to knows:
1. This is a little lengthy process so please bear with it. The longest wipe is on /data which will take about 7 minutes. Obviously, make sure you have plenty of battery life before running it. I've ran this Nullifier like 20 times in the last two days of first testing and on average its about 1204 seconds or about 19.8 minutes, on average. The Single pass zip is only half of the time of course. Or you can just watch the progress bar. After 20 times of nullifing and log pulling in 2 days, im pretty dang sure the bar is accurate. So enjoy!
2. ONCE THE NULLIFICATION PROCESS HAS BEEN COMPLETED DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT TURN OFF OR LET YOUR PHONE DIE BEFORE FLASHING A ROM OR RESTORING... or you will brick your phone.
3. I will provide help, support, etc. for this, but as always flash at your own risk and I am not responsible if you turn your phone into your next non-aerodynamic frisby.
Enjoy!
Also I have now decided to copy the log to sdcard at completion (thanks to DARKSIDE for the idea). But from now on the log created in /tmp while in cwm is now copied to sdcard as O2x-Nullified-recovery.log. So it will still be deleted from RAM but never lost any more!!!!! muhahahahahahah... love it!
Thanks go to Волк aka Volk for letting me test and learn from his G2x Nullifier script. And also to owain94 for helping me make sure that this thing will run ok on the O2x, since I dont actually have the O2x..
Also if is doesn't work, please we need logs. You need to use a file explorer or put the external sdcard into your pc and grab and upload or pm me the log from your sdcard the file will be named 'O2x-Nullified-recovery.log'

haha nice avatar pic! but the difference is based on ocd levels. lol Basically we originally did the Nullifier to have two passes in the nullification process just to make sure that all data has been zero'd out before formatting. However with the time it takes to complete such a process it seemed a bit much and end users didnt like it much. So we made the single and dual passes. Basically the single pass only does one nullification pass before formatting and moving to the next partition.

no but if you use full Linux...ie able to boot Linux up on its own and not through windows then u can access system files that way as it loads both the system and sd partitions up giving full editable access....not for the faint hearted though...even i don't like using that way lol.
And now as your getting a boot loop, which i did when adding both Xperia and HTC ringtones together found out, the only way is to wipe your rom and start again.
as a reference for next time....please do a backup!
ive given you the best options i know off....and i built the roms...i didn't expect someone to do what you just did...or i would have warned you off from it as i found out the hard way...just like you have.

no Linux must have its own drive.....putting it on usb wont allow you to do anything..
you have to install Linux onto a hdd an fully install it, takes a few hrs,
reason being, you need Linux to see and do everything without windows, running of a USB won't allow you to edit anything, just have a play to see if you u want it installing.
then you require the additional files/drivers to make your phone become recognizable within Linux, then you plug your phone in and up comes both partitions..

Read the while post throughout and then make your decision. Good luck if you do it.

I already screwed up my phone so might aswell
I think I got teh Bootloop again :/ that thing doesn't work...
There are two parts to this post. First, i am trying to downgrade Skype again. When I lost my SD card, I lost the skype zip I was using. I have downloaded an apk file which is for a proper version, I think. In order to install it on my phone, should i zip it and then copy the zip over in recovery?
Also, because of my recent meltdown, I was able to do a real back to back comparison between the jb rom I had on the phone before and the rooted stock i have on it now. A;; of the jb roms, including slimbean, rebelrom and stock all use battery at the same rate. Frankly, I was surprised after what I had read from everyone, but it looks like I just need to anticipate charging up the exhibit once a day. For my level of use, that's just the way this phone works. if I want longer battery life, I'll have to get a bigger battery.

If the Skype file is an apk, shouldn't you be able to install it as an apk?
I'm not much of a worrier when it comes to battery life. When I know I'm not going to be around a computer or an outlet for awhile I just take it easy on my phone. All the ROM's I have tried seem to do well in battery life though. I'm running TripFX's & Cam's CE beta ROM thats in the general forum right now. I'll post a screen shot of the battery life tomorrow from using it at mild use.

Is the extension at the end ".apk" ? Or is it a zip file? if its an apk just find it in your file manager and install it from there. if its a zip file, I suggest using Es File Manager so you can open it and install it in the file manager.

It is an .apk file. My file manager is ES File Manager, but what do you mean, install it from there? I can transfer it from the computer to the sd card and then use the FM to put it wherever I need, but how do I get the phone to know it's there?

This is what I usally do.
Once you move it to the SD card you should be able to unplug your phone from the usb and then fine the apk in Es File Manager. When you find it just press on it and youll be brought to a instillation process.
Thats what i usally do.

I will look for that. I tried moving it, but that didn't work. Hopefully, installing it will work better.

Thanks, but no need, really. With the nearly 10 different roms I have used, none has gotten appreciably better life out of the battery. Or worse, really. As long as i only have to charge once a day, or while I'm sitting at the computer, I'm good. I just posted that comparison because lots of folks here spend a lot of time mentioning battery life.
