i9000 to factory stock - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

my friends galS is bootlooped. i would like to odin it back to either a rooted stock rom or rooted gingerbread. i searched on google and ended up in 5 directions
thanks

Download a stock Gingerbread 2.3.4 rom (JVP or JVQ) from either SamFirmware or here
Open Odin, place PDA in PDA, Phone in Phone and CSC in CSC.
For the PIT file, choose a 512 one and remember to click repartition.
Flash away
Then once you've done that you can either flash a Kernel like Speedmod or CF-Root or download JVP/JVQ de-oxed/rooted and flash that through Odin.

thanks alot

[Q] Validation of my XXJPU Install Procedure

Hello everyone,
I was hoping that someone would be kind enough to validate my proposed procedure for installing the XXJPU I9000 ROM (with BELL UGJK3 Modem) on my Captivate.
I've spent many many hours pouring over the Captivate and I9000 forums, but I still wanted to have someone check over my procedure before I take the plunge.
My proposed procedure is:
Use the ODIN one-click to revert back to JF6 stock for Captivate.
Download the XXJPU package and 512 PIT from samfirmware.com
Download the Bell UGJK3 modem from this thread on XDA
Dowload xcaliburinhand's 2.2.1 I9000 reoriented kernel on XDA from here. I will download the non-Voodoo version.
Extract the XXJPU package, and copy out the TAR for the XXJPU PDA.
Download ODIN 1.3.
Start ODIN.
Reference the tar file for the XXJPU PDA in the PDA section of ODIN.
Reference the 512 pit file in the PIT section of ODIN.
Reference the Bell UGJK3 Modem tar file in the PHONE section of ODIN.
Make sure Repartion checkbox is checked (because I have more than just the PDA file).
Connect Phone using USB cable.
Restart Phone in download mode (I use ADB to do this).
Click Start to flash the PDA, PIT, and PHONE (modem) to the phone.
Restart the phone. When phone is at Welcome screen disconnect phone from USB.
Close ODIN. Start ODIN.
Reference the I9000 2.2.1 reoriented kernel in the PDA section of ODIN.
Do not check repartition.
Connect the phone to the computer via USB.
Put the phone into download mode again (using ADB).
Click Start to flash the I9000 2.2.1 reoriented kernel.
When Phone reboots, everything should be working.
In addition to validating this procedure, I was curious about CSC files and if I also need to flash one of these.
Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Robert

this is all overly complicated.
take the modem that you want, and the kernel that you want and drop them into the clockwork flashable rom (there are a couple of them already made up on the i9000 boards). they go in the updates directory in the zip file.
i wouldnt use the odin version of jpu...i would go with a doc's custom or darky's

3files with repartition included is strongly recommended
and i recommend to flash XXJPU with 512.pit (tick repartition box also in odin)
ok here is step by step(xxjpu)
First you have to download XXJPU fw from www.samfirmware.com
1.wipe data/cache
2.get in download mode
3.run odin
4.choose pit as "s1_odin_20100512.pit"
5.choose PDA as "I9000XXJPU-REV03-PDA-low-CL747761.tar"
6.choose PHONE as "MODEM_I9000XXJPU.tar"
7.choose CSC as "GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJPU.tar"
8.make sure you ticked "re-partion","auto-reboot" and "f.reset time" in option box
9.plug in your usb to a computer
10.press start
11.wait until it finished and your phone will reboot by itself
12.may be your phone will get into recovery mode automatically wait and choose reboot then
13.finish
i checked to see if XXJPU has a bootloader.....just in case and it has.
here's XXJPU : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19506141/Stock - stock modems/I9000XXJPU (2.2.1).exe
and odin : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19506141/flash en drivers/Odin_+_pit.exe
What's the difference between simple flashing and flashing with re-partition?
Galaxy S XWJVB
bump on this, can anyone confirm if this works?
and you need to check the update bootloader, JPU have the froyo bootloader
This works like a dream! Even tho am a newbie, I found it surprisingly easy!
hey i think you're on XWJVB.Do you have Android OS battery drain problem?I'm also on XWJVB but it sucks battery very quickly after playing gameloft games.(In Battery Use Android OS is above 60%)

Would jvo modem work on froyo2.2?

Hi I have stock rom of froyo 2.2 (this one on the link)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&highlight=kc1
i really dont like the kc1 modem i was wondering if JVO modem would work.
It said its for CWM3
but can that be just flashed using odin ??
or do i have to have Clockwork mod 3?? how do i install this?? I checked my recovery (stock recovery) and it seems like the stock recovery is 3e version.. :S
how do i install cwm3 if i have 3e version..
I upgraded to GB using this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...1#post13566808
and upgraded to JVO modem using recovery update thingy
modem was great (GPS locks fast etcs) but it was too unstable (i prob did something wrong while installing it? i dono ) :and it kept shutting off the phone
so i installed the stock 2.2 froyo ugkc1
please help me
thanks
In my experience modems are pretty interchangable. I like the KC1 modem myself for Bell it seems to work the best. Maybe it depends on your area.
Follow this thread to flash modem for CWM any version.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876391
If you are running Froyo then you will want to stick with CWM2 I think. Speedmod is an easy way to get this. If you want to use a modem file that is not listed on that link you can download any CWM2 zip file and open it and insert your modem.bin into it. Then flash that using CWM.
Hi thank you for your reply.
I dono where to downlaod the JVO modem with CWM2 version
also if i use speedmod will I get CWM2? even tho i have stock e3 recovery installed??/
Yes, speedmod will give you CWM2. Just download speedmod for ODIN and flash it as PDA. It will work on all froyo builds.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822756
To get the modem file just extract the modem.bin out of the CWM3 zip file you have. Then download any CWM2 modem zip file and put that modem.bin into it. The only difference between those files are the modem.bin inside them.
I wish I knew a way to flash just the modem.bin with ODIN. There may be a way, but I have not found it yet. CWM is the only documented way that I have found unless the ROM comes in 3 parts. Then you can just flash the PHONE portion with Odin.
One other trick I did was I flashed with a ROM that included the modem that I wanted, then used Odin to upgrade to JVH but didn't flash the Phone portion, just the PDA and CSC. This worked good and didn't require CWM or rooting at all. Now I have a 2.3.3 stock ROM with a custom Modem without any hacks.
-start Odin.
-Select "phone" and fetch the modem.bin file.
-Only thing checked should be "Auto Reboot"
-Put phone in download mode
-Plug in USB
-hit Start
Awesome, Thanks Pr3torian. I have thought about doing that a few times but wasn't sure it would work. I always figured it was that easy but could not find any documentation to support it. All the Phone downloads are always md5 or zip format so didn't want to brick my phone.

[Q] Flash RevolutionRom on SGS I9000

Hi guys,
I'm really interested in flashing Revolution Rom to my SGS1. It currently has CyanogenMod7 on it.
I've looked at the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236432
but can't figure out if I'm meant to just flash the rom or if I somehow need to flash a stock Gingerbread first before then flashing the REvolutionROM.
Can anyone assist?
Apologies if this question's already been asked, I did a thorough search but couldn't find anything. Happy if you just point me to another thread if it's already answered.
thanks
Aaron
To revert from CM7 to any other samsung rom you need to first flash a full PDA stock rom with odin. with repartition. and 512 pit.
then you can change to what ever rom you want.

[Q] I need step by step instructions to go back to stock froyo and update via kies

Hello friends
I have searched and found a lot of threads but my obsession has not been solved.
I am on DDJPA indian GB flashed via Odin.I want to get back to stock froyo so that i can update to GB via odin.[Told u so!It is an obsession like having a perfect one!!! and i have a glimmer of hope that our Tab may get official ICS and i want it via kies but kies now does not recognise my Tab]
I have downloaded stock indian froyo[the one i had] from samfirmware.I have also downloaded flashing manual also from samfirmware. It says that i should flash pit file first with repartition and then remove battery & then go to download mode again to flash PDA tar file without repartition.
I am totally lost here.
I tried to flash with pit and PDA Tar file with repartition. It flashed successfully but when it boot was stuck at Samsung logo for about 30 minutes.[Should i have waited some more time at samsung logo flashing stage?]
Then i re-flashed with DDJPA GB tar with pit thro odin and revived the Tab.
Can anybody give me step by step instructions regarding how to flash via odin to get back to stock?
