So i apologize if this has already been answered but i need an answer real quick. I recently flashed Clockwork mod recovery on my Nexus One and i don't like it. In my opinion Amon_ra's recovery is better in every way so id rather have that on my phone. So my question is can i just flash amon_ra's recovery over clockwork mod and everything will be good or do i need to take extra steps?
Just flash...
just flash... at the moment amon_ra is better, but a mod for clockworkmod enable multiboot in the nexus one (with kernel bug at the moment -.-)... when they will fix the multiboot mod, i'll change definively in clockworkmod

Whats up XDA just a quick question: I have the aman ra 1.7.0.1 recovery image on my N1. I was interested in trying out rom manager also which uses clockwork mod, but my question is:
Can I have both on my N1 since they're both recovery programs? Or will there be a problem trying to keep both?
You can use only one.
Flash another and use another
i currently have Amon RA 1.7.0 recovery installed for my g1, and keep hearing a lot about Koushs Clockwork Recovery Mod.
are there any significant benefits in installing it?
It has a few things that are different and lacks a few. The biggest reason you might need it is if you wanted to flash files that don't have the right keys. It does not check for this.
I tried it and found pretty much right away that I missed some features from AmonRa and went back.
Tried flashing a 2.2 Sense ROM in clockworkmod 3.0. Did not work, I was told to flash an older version of clockwork-mod.
flashed the ROM, all was going well until the unthinkable happened.
I now get this system error:
E:Board does not support mtd utils.E:Failure at line 388
write_raw_image PACKAGE:boot.img BOOT:
Installation aborted.
Forgot that clockworkmod would erase my old backup... I can get into clockworkmod by the way. If I mount it, can I sideload someone else's recovery image...??? If so, could someone provide one? thanks
Noob-friendly help plz?
thanks-- just bought my nexus :/
Edit: Also, using a mac. Have access to a pc tomorrow. I just want sense :[
Clockwork 3 seems to have been messing with a lot of peoples partitions. Install a different recovery, like Amon Ra, our an earlier Clockwork.
Then you can try and do a full wipe, and install whatever you want for a ROM.
Clockwork won't have deleted your backup, but if you made it with Clockwork 3, it may not work with other recoveries...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
IMO, AmonRa works better with the N1. I've thoroughly used both. Clockwork works great on the SNS.
Yup. Problem solved :]
flashed Amon-Ra via Fastboot. Coming from a vibrant which features the luxury of odin and wonderful Clockworkmod support. Thanks for the help, was geeking out for a while without odin at my disposal. Never had to partition sd in my life haha. Learning a lot.
have been using ra recovery forever and in a dumb moment loaded clockwork recovery. When I wanted to revert to an older rom I was surprised to see that all the backups and roms are gone and not showing on clockwork. Is there a way to get rid of clockwork and will ra recovery be there with all data or is there a spot where all the backups and roms are in the clockwork program
thanks
Just reflash the recovery you want with fastboot.
The WIKI on Cyanogenmod's site for the G1 says that Clockwork Recovery has issues with the G1 due to limited memory. Is this still the case, or is it safe to use Clockwork instead of Amon Ra now?
they are both safe. Amon ra has a better menu but in my case the nandroid in amon ra wont restore my backups. clockwork works fine plus you can use rom manager.
My Preference is Amon RA, I had problem with Clockwork Recovery, nanodroid works well for me. I use Amon RA.
I use clockmodwork 3 (Alpha version by Roalex), because I test roms often and it does not check for the signature of a zip on default. Plus, Clockmodwork recovery 3 is the only recovery available for the HD2, so I use that also because I am most familiar with it.
Clock work works pretty good for me!
