2.30.405.1. Update is here via ota - HTC Incredible S

What has changed?
Wifi connectivity issues should be gone.
Update wiped my downloaded skins, but everything else seems to be the same it was.
Some reported font size changes in some mail apps.

hasn't it been out for quite some time now?

I searched for updates yesterday. There was nothing. I managed to get it updated 5 minutes ago.
I bought mine in eastern eu, living in Scotland atm. According to my knowladge some phones get updates delayed based on location/rom. Correct me if I am wrong, pls

If you have Root'ed your phone, you loose the Root when updating.
See this link.

Is there a way for me to update to 2.30.405.1 ?
Hello,
I'm using the configuration you can see in the attachment, my Incredible S is S-Off , i have installed recovery and it is also Alpharevx rooted. Is there any way for me to install this update without messing everything ? Thanks in advance !

You can installe the update and it woun't mess anything up, exept you loose the Root.
You can also flash the whole ROM from here.
But remember to do a Nandroid backup first - just in case if you need to go back ;-)

Thanks for your answer, the problem is that i have tried to install the update, both OTA and with recovery (install zip from sd card), but both attempts failed. The cause could be the root from what i'm reading on other update threads. I already have a recovery backup so i'm OK.

[Q]Options for upgrading from .52 to .56?

I’m running a locked AT&T branded Vivid. I used the RUU that PirateGhost provided containing the “leaked” ICS version (3.26.502.52) to move to ICS. I’m not getting the prompt to update to .56, and using the “dialer trick” isn’t working.
I know that I could use the new RUU direct from HTC to update to the latest, but that’s a full wipe and reinstall. Is there a way to download a copy of the .56 OTA zip file, drop it on my phone, and somehow update from .52 to .56 that way?
If so, what would be the steps involved?
Thanks,
-Brett.
Honestly you are best off wiping everything and running the ruu, I don't believe that it would be a good idea to just put the file on your phone and flash it.

I was in the same situation, and used this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529669 to restore to GB. Then installed the update. Very simple, and the restore file is good to have, and the process is worth knowing. I don't see a reason not to do it. It might be just me, but I think most issues and problems arrise from trying to take a shortcut and impatience (the Donner party).
I was in the same situation and all you do is downloading the RUU from HTC website and follow the instructions (pretty much just connect USB and click on the file...) that's very simple and trouble free.

Thanks for the feedback guys. For the record, I was aware of the RUU update process since that's how I got to the "leaked" ICS update (version 3.26.502.52). I was hoping I'd be able to avoid the complete wipe that comes with the RUU update.
As it turns out, i had some time tonight so I decided to just suck it up and use the RUU to update to v 3.26.502.56. I used MyBackup PRO to back up as much as I could since I'm not rooted and the update ran fine. I'm currently installing all my market apps, after which point I'll restore what I can from MyBackup.
Thanks,
-Brett.
Updating to .56 allowed more apps from google play to be available on my device. Noticed this while I was running .52, then saw apps I purchased "reappear"

How do I update a rooted One with Xposed framework to 1.29. 401.12?

Hi guys,
I have jut received notification of an available update to my phone, and I have taken a nandroid backup and attempted to update. This failed and left me in recovery (CWM). I then tried manually updating using the .zip file from the download folder, but this left me stuck too.
How can I apply this update?
Thanks
Did you remove any of the stock apks? What customizations have you done? Typically the ROM needs to be completely stock before applying an OTA update.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I'm pretty sure my rom is stock. Apart from rooting and apply changes to the framework.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
You'll need to be unrooted, stock, and with stock recovery for the OTA to take effect.
If you need stock ROMS and recovery, they are available in the development forums.

Did you root regular HTC One or the China edition HTC One (802w)? I am in the same situation as you if you are using the 802w. Have you tried resetting to factory default, update it, THEN do the unlock/root?
You should follow Mikes thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265618 it explains how to unroot etc. and after that you should be able to update your rom again.

[q] htc one messed!!!!! Help plzzz!!!!!!!

So i'm basically a total noob when it comes to this kind of thing.
I recently rooted my new HTC ONE (International) using a method i found on htconeroot.com
After that the phone could not read the SD card. Every time i open storage in the settings menu it closes.
The phone also would reboot at random moments.
I tried to fix it using some other methods and messed it up. I deleted the original OS and i cant access the backups i made because i switched recoveries from TWRP to CWM. Even when i switched back to TWRP, i couldn't find the backups.
I tried installing two roms (Android Revolution and Maximus) but when i did they would not boot completely and would be stuck on the boot logo.
I cannot flash stock RUU because it is not out yet (1.29.401.12)
I tried to use the Nandroid method i found on this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2267435
But the installation aborted for some reason and would not work.
PLEASE can anyone help me find a solution or show me how i make the nandroid backup method work?

Could you send us a pic of your bootloader? That way we can determine exartcly what state your phone is in.
Also, I just used HTCOneRoot two days ago without a hitch (AT&T variant). The first boot takes a good 2 - 5 minutes so maybe you just didn't wait long enough.

Ok so i had a friend of mine who's a tech-wizz when it comes to this kind of thing help me out. He explained pretty much everything but i still have a problem.
I basically erased the system by accident (playing with TWRP), so i flashed CWM and restored my phone using a nandroid backup for version 1.29.401.12, which was the original version the phone came in.
The backup worked although it still has the same bugs that i had when i first rooted the damn thing.
Basically, some apps would just restart themselves right when i open them, such as google chrome. They would eventually open after a couple more tries. The phone is a bit laggy, and would also reboot at random moments, which i think normally happen when i do something with the phone such as install a new app or simply post a facebook status. Is it possible that i might've erased an important system file? Cuz the backup should've restored all missing system and data files.
Oh and i also couldn't take a photo of the bootloader because my camera has the same image taking capabilities of a potato.
So i'll just copy down everything on there.

I looked everywhere but all the threads i found said that the RUU's for the 1.29 base are not out yet so i had to use the nandroid backup instead.
This phone is killing me
I tried re-rooting and giving the phone 10 mins to stable.
I tried flashing AndroidRevolution rom
I tried several nandroid backups, including the software version that i was initially on (1.29.401.12)
Just now i flashed an odexed rom version 2.17.401.1 and it still keeps on restarting.
I'm starting to believe this phone is fake.
Are flashing the boot.IMG through fastboot after flashing the ROM ?

No it doesn't, but normally rooting the device shouldn't really do this, right?
Cause i've looked everywhere and no one seems to be having this problem with the HTC ONE.
Is there a way to tell if it's fake or not?

[Q] Software update not completing install

My HTC One is with Rogers and I had it rooted using the all in one toolkit. The last time it was running I was on the Nandroid backup as listed below which comes unrooted, but I rooted it with CWM recovery. .
Nandroid Backup: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2207874, in particular Rogers Nandroid Backup from Whampahoofus
(http://bugsylawson.com/files/file/1857-m7-cwm-nandroid-backup-cid-roger001-12963117/)
So tonight I decided to go and unroot and flash the stock recovery because there was an OTA update available but would not install due to custom recovery. I followed the same process which is restore the nandroid backup from Whampahoofus as it is by default unrooted, I restored my data from tonights nandroid backup, booted up fine and tested that I was able to use the phone as is. I then went ahead and flashed the stock recovery (which is below)
Stock Recovery : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2270552&page=3
Success, I now had stock recovery, and unrooted. I didn't relock my bootloader as I didnt feel it was necessary just to successfully install an OTA update. I went ahead and it did go through and download the OTA, it started to install the downloaded OTA and about a quarter of the way through the progress bar, it is still there. Going for the past >30 minutes now. I cant seem to reboot out of it or anything. Thankfully cause that would probably be a bad idea if it was still going.
Anyway, anyone experience this before or have suggestions?

Mine also hanged during update and required the "press power under bright light" trick. Then after reboot it hanged again (for 30-40 minutes) and i restarted it. After the second restart it rebooted successfully BUT the sdcard contents were still under /data/media instead of /data/media/0 so i rooted and moved the files manually from adb shell.
It is recommended to flash the original RUU... After that, you shouldn't face any issues during OTA... I did the similar process as you, but i was getting a red triangle on OTA update process....
I flashed RUU and everything went smoothly then.

[Q] Rooted/s-on. Can I update anything.

Can I install stock recovery and then try to take a ota to update. Will I loose root and will I loose my rom? Will I be able to reinstall a rom or will I need to reroot?
you can try, you shouldn't loose root or anything but once you have unlocked and flashed stuff I doubt stock recovery will like your system enough to take the update. try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53518227

From my understanding, as long as /system is stock, you can install the stock recovery and then take the OTA. Afterwards, you'll need to re-root your phone. Make a backup of your current setup before you get started. Once you've taken the update and get rooted again, you can always restore your backup.

Must be the fact that I am s on. We need that s off before we can do anything as far as updating
This one is tricky. I flashed the stock rooted rom from mikmik, I then unrooted and flashed the stock recovery via fast boot. When applying the Ota, it fails because the build.prop is not stock. Comes back with an error like /system/build.prop unexpected.

I just tried it to and did the same exact thing except I had boot loops as we'll.
when I flashed back to the stock recovery to take the recent OTA, I had a reboot bootloop like every 2-3 minutes, I was ready to throw the phone against a wall, then it hit that I read recently someone else had the same issue, and mentioned a factory reset fixing the issue, yup after a factory reset, the reboot bootloop was gone, I just now rerooted and flashed a backup

Hey everyone.
I've spent the better of the last three hour scouring the inter webs, Google, and these forums trying to find the answers to my questions - but to no avail (I've found partial answers, but I am afraid a partial answer could lead to a total brick).
Here we go:
I bought one of the first Sprint HTC One M8's through Amazon. Here are the details:
Model: 831C
Android Version 4.4.2
Software Version 1.12.651.17
Unlocked but S-On (Using TWRP)
Naturally, right out of the box I rooted it. However, I did not save the original ROM.
* I want to restore the phone to its original state so I can accept the OTA update and hopefully address the god-awful cell signal.
I've found a lot of stock recoveries online, but none that match 1.12.651.17.
Do I need to find that specific recovery to flash to my phone? Will another one work (e.g. 1.54.654.13)?
I've never worried about saving my stock recovery in the past (been rooting since the HTC Evo days) but it looks like not doing so finally caught up with me.
Thanks in advance.
PS I did find something 1.12.651.17 related here, but how to flash this to my phone (or whether or not it will brick) is beyond me. I've downloaded all 6 files and am waiting to figure out how the heck to get them to my phone.
