Juwe11's Ram Script - Kyocera Zio M6000

I found this ram script here on XDA yesterday and after I had it all set up and after rebooting this thing is flying, This script should work on all ROMs, I cannot guarantee that it will but feel free to try it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111145
I had to side load this but there is a flashable zip that you can download and install from sdcard in CWM Recovery.
The script requires init support in the kernel to work. If you are running OpenZio 2.1+ you already have it. This script needs to be located in /system/etc/init.d/ to run. Since I side loaded it I had to make a init.d folder since it did not already exist in this rom. You can either use Root Explorer to make a new folder, adb shell or terminal emulator to "cd /system/etc/" then "mkdir init.d"
Next, put the script in the new directory. Change permissions to 0777 or rwxrwxrwx
"cat /sdcard/S97ramscript > /system/etc/init.d/S97ramscript"
"chmod 0777 /system/etc/init.d/S97ramscript"
Next, reboot your phone and give it about a minute to start all processes and services. Then enjoy a faster phone. And you can use this with AutoKiller which is included with OpenZio ROM, a few tweaks to the script and I'm sure we can scrap AutoKiller all together. I personally think my phone is now faster than a fresh install of OpenZio ROM.

This is a great find.

I notice no difference at all tbh. I uninstalled autokiller prior to flashing the phone and did a few reboot tests to see my avail. ram. Ran about 25-30Mb. I flashed the RAM script, and ran more tests -- still 25-30Mb free and no increase in speed.

That's odd. I saw a 25% increase in UI responsiveness, but my phone now requires three full minutes to boot up, plus another two before my widgets show up.

Three minutes to boot up? Mine boots in 1 minute.
Sent from my Kyocera Zio M6000 using XDA Premium App

I thought it was a bit excessive too. Haha. I'm going to take a look at Startup Auditor.
Sent from my Droid using XDA Premium App

I also have the boot animation disabled in build.prop I don't think that should make any difference though.
I've been making a few minor tweaks to the script to make it fit the Zio a little bit better so that I can have 50MB+ of RAM at all times. I'll post back here with any updates.

Wouldn't that be detrimental? After all; free memory is unused memory.

To a certain extent;
You want about 45Mb free at any time for good UI performance.
Once it sags below that mark, you will start to notice performance issues.

I'm sitting at 55MB average with alot of multi tasking. UI is super responsive now. Everything opens up in an instant.
Sent from my Kyocera Zio M6000 using XDA Premium App

40-45MB average, up from 25-30 avg before installing, so I'm sitting pretty here in the sweet-spot (minus the horrible bootup time, but it's whatever).
Sent from my Droid using XDA Premium App

I'll post my modified script once I am done tweaking it. I don't know what takes your phone so long to boot.
Sent from my Kyocera Zio M6000 using XDA Premium App

I think its got something to do with the WidgetLocker and LauncherPro startup combo. I'm not too partial to anything ADW-based.

NU i have been running the script now for three days and have had no problems yet. I have seen an increase in responsiveness in all apps. not sure if it is related but i have also had no random reboots since install either. with antutu benchmark v2.0.3 i am posting scores now averaging around 1350 with a 4gig class 2 sd card. before i was running around 1000.
Update:
Found random reboot issue. I removed autokiller before installing script. Later today I reinstalled it and back to rebooting issues. Anyone else had the same problem?

I haven't had any reboot issues, For those who have not yet tried this, please try my modified script included in FastZio speed tweaks beta.

Xda app force closing

Has anyone had a problem with the xda app force closing regularly? It only happens when I open it up shortly after closing it.....running cm6
Sent from froyo using XDA App
cant say i have had that problem. have your tried uninstalling and installing it again?
Happens to me all the time. If I click home on my phone then reopen XDA it will attempt to connect for a long time, I usually click the back button to stop this, sometimes depending where I am in the app it will force close me. Open again and its fine
also cm6
I've had that with the updated xda app so I just use the older version
Root-Hack-Mod-Always™
I get it sometimes. I just figured after idling it loses connection to xda server and force closes.

I have noticed at home if I leave XDA open in my browser and come back to it, say 1 hour later, it has logged me out. Not a big deal, I just wish the cookie lasted longer.

I just got my Hero a few days ago. It is running aospMOD 0.9.5, overclocked with SetCPU and using LauncherPro (pretty sure I'll buy LPP!) so the following may be of limited value: The XDA app is the only thing to force-close on me so far, and it has happened 2 or 3 times at least.
Yeah, it happens every time I open it....then its fine....
I bought LPP too because I like the Widgets

Unable to play Asphalt 6 Adrenaline in captivate

Hi, I have a samsung captivate running in serendipity 6.3. I have downloaded asphalt 6 and also downloaded the extra download of 509 MB needed through my wifi. The game started with the initial graphic video and it automatically stops right there and comes back to my home screen once the start up video is completed. please help as i am a big fan of asphalt.
Well how did u download the game?
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA Premium App
I'm pretty sure that game isn't available for the Captivate. It's not in the market for me or anything. The only place I've seen it is the getgames.apk from the Xperia Play.
I'm assuming you just "found" the apk somewhere and tried to install it, and that it wasn't a market release.
Yeah if that b the case. You might need the data that comes with it. Along without the apk and downloading the wiring data aswell. But. If you did get it online its considered warezz.

i got it from 4shared.com. it did download the additional information after the game was installed
He got the additional DL, as stated in the OP. He's having issues running it, and... afaik.... it's not made to run on the Cappy.
Moved to proper forum.
I have it running and it runs slugish like it was runing in CPU mode and not hardware acellerated so you are not missing much.
Got it installed and running fine, not as smooth as the ipod/iphone,but still very playable.

Manual CPU change on 2.0

Is there a way to change the CPU min-max without an app?
Sent from my VS910 4G using xda premium
I believe if I've read right it's somewhere in the build.prop file. If I'm wrong somebody can correct me.
There were some posts about changing it manually in the thread for Gingervolt I believe. Maybe it was the thread for blitzkrieg. Check those 2 threads starting at the end. I know it was recently.

Oh ok you found it?
At first I was using the init.d files (/system/etc/init.d/) to change the max min, but I was getting 5+ vibrate reboots a day. I started using rom toolbox pro a few days ago with the exact same settings, and I haven't gotten any reboots since. If you start getting reboots, try using an app.
Also, if you do use the init.d files to change the max/min, I recommend using root explorer and make sure you set permissions to r/w, otherwise when you edit the files and hit save, it won't actually save. Took me a few tries to figure out that nothing was actually changing. =)

Bug reports

Is there any way to stop all of these reports im having? It always happens when I'm listening to music or playing games and it stops my music/games and glitches them up. It only happens when I'm not connected to WiFi. It happens like every 15 minutes. Its pretty annoying, i doubt its just my P.A. ROM or my kernel because it happens on every rom or kernel ive used so far. Its not that big of a deal its just pretty annoying lol

I use my tablet probably four hours a day, and have never seen a bug report. I am curious what app you are using that triggers these.

Yeah me to-__- it shows in supersu logs as dump state and if I deny its root access it still pos up

It might be resolvable with an app upgrade (Superuser or SuperSU), but I don't have the exact version details.
Make a backup before you begin.
FWIW, I'm using
- SuperSU v0.99
md5: 0034ec008416b1c3fa7010deb8a3a758 /system/xbin/su
No problems with what I'm using. (drocap2 can get root, but then fails... but N7 has userland buttons for that)
cheers

Tapatalk based apps

Xda app and another tapatalk based app for another forum are having force close issues on 2 different devices. My cappy running helly bean 20130426. The other is my htc incredible running cm7.2 . They are both running the most recent versions of the apps. It does happen more often on the HTC. Is it a known issue with the apps or could it be related more to the age of the devices? Any help is appreciated.

Go in settings -> Apps and clear their data.
Didn't work. I've removed and reinstalled even. Only happening the last two weeks.
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda app-developers app
try running a debugger or take a log cat after the fc and look for the nature of error. The fact that you are getting it on two different devices sounds like it is something particular to your assortment of apps and any optimizations that you may have running.
I have not had any issues with xda, although I did decide to manually force a close when opening page 1 of a 2000± page thread, Better Battery Stats. It was taking forever to load but it didn't fc on its own.
Sent from the wholly ROMin' empire. SGH-I897 CM10.1
The cappy is exactly as it is when you install the ROM. I've done nothing but install a few apps and that's it. I have far fewer on it than the incredible.
On the incredible it runs as it does when it is installed as well. Only no gapps and a WiFi only script to kill the radio and some system apps that I deleted. I don't over clock or under volt or mess with any settings other than ones that could be adjusted on a stock unrooted device. It has far more FC's than the cappy.
Unfortunately this is where I show my ignorance. While I have learned loads here I do not know how to take a log cat. This is the first time I've had a problem with anything I've done that couldn't be fixed with a factory reset and redownload.
I rarely get a fc with xda its my other app that has the problem the most. Its motorcycle.com free. Its daily sometimes multiple times and hour sometime in the same 5 minute period. Though I do notice it more with threads that have a lot of pics on them.

Actually appears to have stopped. I downloaded adblocker plus last night and have had a single FC close with the cappy. Don't recall having had one with the dinc either but I'll have to use that more later. It was dying. I'll report back with that later.
