the hd2 is a windows mobile phone, nobody has ported android to it yet
if you insist on torturing yourself with that, watch the action here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=651632
nexus one or mytouch, or mytouch slide if youre staying on tmobile
evo if you switch to sprint
droid incredible or droid if your moving to verizon
in my humble opinion
by the way, the devs have not moved on to other devices, froyo will be available on the G1 in the next few weeks from cyanogen
and if you're up for an upgrade with Tmobile, you can get the nexus1 for like 189 if you order it online from google

HD2 is crap... I would go for a Nexus, Desire or Evo.
Do some research its all about preferences.
Desire or Nexus One at the moment
I love the speed and low battery consumption of FroYo, but miss htc sense, I have seen the theme for cyanogenmod, but that just changes menus etc, I want my calendar, widgets, and dialer back.
Did this already happen and i missed it?
Please ask in the evo section

 thanks. Im actually on a hero with froyo, soooo....
Im just assuming it would be an easier port since they are both CDMA and on the smae network and since the EVO is running froyo now with HTC sense overtop.

its alot harder than that, there is working being done to port it from the legend and aria but the evo uses a totally different processor and has alot of other differences other than just both being cdma

So, I am trying to find a great android device... that can give me 3g on my network - Rogers.....
My question is, if you root the captive and put on custom roms and kernels... can you have the sense ui and eliminate samsungs software?
thx

Technically yes, right now no. There are no custom ROMs that have sense. Just go to Bell and get Desire Z or Telus for Desire.
There is no bell in Winnipeg..... and telus here is still cdma like mts....
well, even if it is not the sense ui... does it removes samsungs attempt at software?
thx

Oh tough luck mate.
There are custom ROMs that have gotten rid of touchwiz launcher/touchwiz widgets. However, the nifty features like the power controls in the notification bar or swipe to call/text still remain. Does that answer your question? You can easily get rid of touchwiz yourself by using root-friendly apps like Titanium backup and uninstall touchwiz.
nice, thanks for the info....
I love my desire hd, I just want something I can still play with (root, roms, kernels) but still have 3g... until dhd launches here... if ever.
thx again

Is it possible to hack the US Cellular Merge ROM to make the phone work on Verizon? I wanted that phone bad when it was announced.... I miss my qwerty coming from a touch pro 2.

If US Cellular is CDMA, it's most likely possible.

Umm... We don't want to tell Football wrong section. He's the man when it comes to leaks!
HTC Merge is a CDMA/GSM hybrid running Android 2.2 Froyo with HTC Sense user interface, has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 3.8" 480x800 resolution capacitive display, and a 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash and 720p video recording

i didnt know it was a cdma phone. Never mind then football. Post away.
yep, US Cellular runs on the same 3g frequencies as Verizon/Alltel/Sprint/Boost/etc.
The Merge/Lexicon was announced for Verizon a long time ago and then just kinda vanished. There are actually a couple Verizon branded ones floating around out there. It has since released on a few regional CDMA carriers, including Alltel and one or two others, but any hope of an official Verizon launch is pretty much gone. It's a nice phone, performance actually a bit better than the dinc, slightly larger screen, keyboard very similar to the T-mo G2..... I'd trade my dinc for one in a heartbeat as long as it can be rooted and run on Verizon bug-free...
Any confirmation on if it is safe to attempt to flash this?
Do not use the ruu... It could be unrootable or possibly wipe s-off. I can pack it in a zip though that you guys can flash.
What version of sense is it?

hmmm this is the same deal as the inc2 port its a world cdma phone so until someone fixes data on this no daily driver and im 99.8% sure this is sense 1.0 stil
2fast talked me into giving this a shot. Turns out it works. Gingerbread and Sense 2.1 is working on my Merge currently. Will update if I have any issues. This just made my night.
You beat me to it. I checked the ruu out and is safe to flash on the uscc merge. It will also work on other carriers but do a backup of you apn info with apn backup and restore.
How ever this thing needs moved to a merge section lol.

LOL! I'm guessing you didn't read that thoroughly. He asked could it be hacked to run on our phone and the other guy answered: If it's CDMA, it's possible. This is a true statement and that's why a lot of folks here are running roms ported from the Evo 4G, Evo Shift, Evo 3D, Sensation, Acer Liquid and the Incredible 2.
This has been posted in the wrong forum.
Maybe football made a mistake.
Hey everyone... finally got myself a thrill last night It is amazing!! I rooted it with superoneclick and put cwm on it already but now what rom should I get? I read that the cyanogenmod roms doesn't have working hdmi, and 3d!! Which is what this phone is mainly about. Any suggestion on a stable working rom that doesn't interfere with 3d features or HDMI? Like a gingerbread rom with sense ui port? Or is this phone too new and developers haven't had the time to port it over yet? Thanks for all the answers everyone!

You COULD just check the development threads.
Sent from my LG Thrill 4G
Were just really waiting for a north american release of ginger bread but there are some good ones thriller and doom also if 4g isnt that big of a deal optimus 3d thread has lots of good roms
I did check the development thread but didn't see much rom that is consider stable. I would like to keep everything functional, 4g, 3D, and HDMI. I saw thriller rom but there was something that was missing from it that didn't catch my eye. Also what will putting the rom from the optimus 3d do to the thrill? what feature will be missing.
thrill seeker check that one out it removes all the crap apps that come with the phone and help phone run smother better some have overclocks and new themes
We are essentially asking the same question. Can the Moderators combine our threads? Here's my post...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1475388
The only bit of advice I have about the different ROMs to share from my thread is that GB baseband and custom ROMs do improve performance but the CM7 is supposedly AMAZING. Anyways... I'm about to put CM7 on my phone. I know I will lose 3D and HDMI but I think I can live without it... after all it is rather gimmicky.
3D is what this phone is all about, I guess I have to wait for mods to explore more on this phone.
I'm about to get a SGS II, so there is another ROM coming up.
