I was looking for a method to do this and read a lot of nandroid and clockwork mod recovery, but it seems like clockwork does not work for the P1010, and nandroid says it needs a custom recovery, how can I make a recovery of my stock ROM so I can start messing around modding? maybe throug ODIN, ADB? or another custom recovery? thanks in advance.
If you rooted do a roto backup. Its on the development thread look it up.

thanks I'll check right now
Again thanks for the info DarkPal, for what I read I need to know the BML partition mapping for my P1010 with stock UJKB4 firmware... no results in the forums and google for this, does some one can helpe me with the BML mapping? I've read that if I just use the commands for another device I could brick mi tab in the restore.

Sorry for insisting, I just made a rotobackup but with the BML mapping that was in the original thread, do this one will work? or do I need to do special configurations to the rotobackup guide?
thanks in advance!

I was having trouble searching using the stock browser so I just created a new thread. Is there a way to flash to stock using cwm for people who want to flash a new rom but aren't at their computer?
No only Odin. Questions go in Q & A
I find it hard to believe that there is no way to flash to stock from CWM. There has to be a way to make JH6 or something like that into a ROM that I can flash. Some way to restore to out of the box condition without a computer. I hate talking like this because I dont develope anything, and thinking that it is easy is quite nieve.

Bad information! You have to search Development thread a bit, it's been awhile so the answer is buried. It's not JF6 but close enough.

Hey,
Having installed overcome and cwm I haven't been happy with it and now wish to return to stock however the backup's I done during the flashing to overcome/cwm have md5 mismatches leaving me without any backups to restore to stock.
I've had a snoop about on how to restore back to stock without much success at all. Any pointers or guides buried away that I can't seem to find?

yes...I did this my self, and is not big deal ! you need to flash with PIT file via Odin the original firmware. for me was easy because my TAB is not branded, and I got the firmware from here. you should try searching for your firmware.

Thanks alot buddy :]
I've read several threads over the last few days and I'm a little confused. I want to make sure I'm on the right track before I use the wrong recovery files.
I rooted my tab(verizon) by using heimdall and applied a stock gingerbread rom with root. now I need to get clockworkmod recovery but when I download it from the market it doesn't list the galaxy tab as a choice to flash the recovery.
I read want to know if I need to use ADB to get CWM Recovery? Is Rom Manager for Froyo only? Is there a Gingerbread version? Will the CWM apply ext4?
I need these answered so I can then move to ICM on my tab as I read that I need CWM and Ext4.
If anyone can answer me that would be a big help. I searched a lot so if I missed something very easy, I'm sorry. I read the Q&A, but I am still left with unanswered questions.
Thanks
Just hemindal miui, and it will give correct cwm

Hello,
first a brief intro...i am not an android developer but I am a user and I love the OS.
However i have had a little trouble with the small issue of backing up stock ROM so that i can have the freedom to tinker with any custom ROM possible knowing that i can always fall back to my stock ROM if I don't like anything or something doesn't work.
I have the original ROM so i can flash it back whenever but not everyone has access to their stock ROM. so you must make a choice that once you flash a custom ROM, you cant go back.
So i am calling out to all the nice developers in the house...
1. Is this possible. is there a way one can do a backup of the stock ROM in the galaxy mini?
2. If its not possible at the moment, is there anyone willing to work towards ensuring its possible?
Like I said, I am not a developer but i could help in any little way i can to work with any willing developer towards achieving this.
Thanks.
yess is possible to backup your rom juste install ROM MANAGER and clic on backup is simple you can find it on android marcket ^^
I would not personally suggest Rom Manager since there are a lot of cases here that it bricked the phone. It is possible to backup your stock rom with cwm recovery. The problem is it can't be restored via the same recovery. This is a limitation of cwm. So Odin is still the best option to restore stock roms.. I do hope that restoring stock roms can be made possible thru cwm..

I have tried ROM manager and it doesnt even recognize the cmw recovery already installed. it requests to install a custom recovery and the SGM isnt listed among the supported devises so that wount work.

Have you actually backed up your stock rom using cwm?I have tried and each time i get an error that it couldnt mount the /system. And am seeking assistance to develop a means to back up and restore Stock ROMs in SGM.
with custom kernel with suport ext4 and convert rfs partition to ext4 partition you can backup your stock rom.
only need flash custom kernel. after that you can backup the rom.
galaxy S user have CF-root kernel for each rom. CF-root do this and root your phone and install CWR.
but for mini no any CF-root kernel
.i have changed my CWM by another one find here with godell thread I use "CWM5028.zip"
Dude, don't you try Rom Manager, it may brick your phone. CWM can't make stock rom backups as far as I know.

to make the backup of stock rom recovery is needed to be modded for work on bml partition layout it should also be compatible with rfs partitions

I'm sorry if this is not the right place to ask this question.
I want to know how to make a back up of my factory rom before flashing my galaxy mini.
thanks in advance.
flash a custom recovery with odin and then go into recovery mode and do a backup of your current rom (stock or custom no matters )
First of all, you should start reading before posting.. Development thread is not a place for this kind of question. Post in general section. Second, factory rom cannot be backed up by CWM unlike the higher end phones.. You will always have to flash a stock rom via PC Odin to return to your factory rom.. Please do not reply to my post..

If you're not yet on gingerbread, better update first your device by following this LINK.
After updating, flash CWM by following this LINK.
Now that you're all set, you can now flash a custom firmware. Pick whatever you want that suits your interest well.
As for me I suggest EMANON or MIUI GB.
