Hi all...
I'm really novice in this field so i need help from you guys ...
What is the best rom to choose to upgrade my galaxy s to android 2.3 ( Gingerbread)
and of course , can someone provide me with detailed instructions ?
Best Regards
I use all the time the last available ROM available on samfirmaware. I can say that is not the best way.
Have you tried CM7?
I dont want to be unpolite but: your question had been done dozen of times before.
If you go to development forum there is sticky with a list of main roms.

Just try this:
Topic -> Search ->Android Development GingerReal 7.1.4., best room btw.
JVQ is the latest f/w. Try stock JVQ or any of custom ROMs from development section.

hello can someone give me some advice what is the best way to flash to froyo
do you need to have a firmware already installed like jm8 for instance or can you
just wipe my phone and install from fresh .
thank you
Just flash JPY from samfirmware.com as a PDA without a PIT file selected.
can i do it even if my galaxy doesnt have a firmware already installed i was wanting
to do it from a fresh wipe then just install the jpy
thank you
i would suggest to flash Darky's Rom. it's easy and you don't need to use odin or heimdall. plus its a really fast Rom!

i was looking into doing that but an i flash without having a firmware already installed
or do i need one already on the phone i have read on a lot of post people saying
you need something like jm8 firmware first then you can flash over it dont know
whats the best way realy
thank you
Kies 2 is the easiest way........... If you want to flash to a custom 2.2 I suggest reading through these forums for a few good hours.
How does your phone work if you have no firmware .???
Suggest A Froyo update is normally via Kies . Why do you need to flash ??
Suggest B If you are flashing custom roms please please read all the posts regarding flashing and save breaking your phone .
Suggest C questions go in the Q& A section not development .

<----- says the best way to flash FroYo if you are a woman is to wear a t-shirt with FroYo stencilled.
Seriously, if you want an official 2.2, try one thats correct for your country & region. General section has a sticky.
If you are adventerous & want to experiment, try one of the MODDED ROMs available. There is a sticky here in dev.
If you want a 2.2.1 without ant modifications, try to search for it here in dev with a title [MOD][CSC] or something or try my desi link in my signature. I will search & add links later.
PS : how old are you?
Hi,
There are so many roms available for the SGS I9000.. Darky 10RC3, MIUI, Juwe and so on... do you have any suggestion how do you choose one of them?
See the info and look feedbacks. You can try them it doesn't cost you anything

First sterp would be to spend an hour reading all the help post on the forum . If a rom has a very high number of help xx rom broke my phone posts steer clear .
Read the posts on each rom in dev section .
Then go to the Rom Kitchin read the FAQs and build your own as a starter .

You can't choose?
Then I choose for you.
"Darky 10RC3"
Reasons:
1) You listed it as the 1st, its the 1st one that came to your mind. Follow you heart.
2) I'm using it right now.
3) Working better than CM7.
I am releasing my jvk rom on friday. It is very very stable and fast so you should check it out.

Hi,
I install Samsung Leak ROM 2.3.3.
And I would like to install new custom ROM.
Can you recommend me what ROM I should install and what are the steps ?
I have Galaxy S I 9000
Best advice for you is to look around the Development section at what ROMs are available. All are very well made and the threads for them are usually very informative and give easy to follow instructions to allow you to flash the custom ROM.
You should be careful posting questions like this, some people may flame you a bit as they'll tell you that you should just look into the threads and learn

They post that stuff because someone who doesn't know how to get back to 2.2.1 shouldn't have installed 2.3.3.

should help you out abit mate, remember any 2.3.3 will not be completly stable,, im on darkys 9.3 Rom with 2.2.1 i think i wil wait till Gingerbread is official and a good rom like Darkys V10 is final before i make the jump.
Official gingerbread as of now .So it will be in the rom kitchens soon and adapted by the end of the week .
Best rom choice build your own in the rom kitchen .

Or read the threads on roms in Development and read the help posts on the forum to see which roms continually break phones .

Hi @ all,
I need some advice, as I want to update my GT-N7000. I'm not sure which Rom to use...??? Right now i'm on stock 4.1.2 with Philz CWM6.
Could you please give me some hints what are the differences between the two Roms. What is better, what is worse??
As this will be my first custom rom it should be stable and easy to use.
Thanks a lot in advance!
No, no answer possible. "Which Rom is better" threads are not allowed on xda.
Download both and install one after the other and choose the one which suits you better.

Try them out and you will see the difference.
There is no best ROM as such, only what works best for you. What works best for another user may not work best for you due to differences in the way you use the device.
The only way to find the best ROM for you is to try some and see for yourself

Mod Edit
"Best" or "Recommend" ROM/kernel threads are not allowed on XDA.
Please test these things for yourself.
This is the only way you will get an unbiased opinion, and then, you can decide for yourself if it meets YOUR needs.
Don't forget to make a nandroid before you start.
