[Q] Reinstall android - LG Optimus Black

Hi,
It is possible to reinstall android (official rom) without loosing warranty? There are an option in LG mobile to do that?
I want to something to fall back on if something went wrong (and I dont mean making a hard reset).
Thanks

Better use this method if you want 100% original factory ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15039107&postcount=16

Thanks everyone!
One other question, if I do that, the phone will be unrooted? And if I flash the phone with a custom rom, this will make my LG like out of the box and I wont have any problem with the warranty?
Thanks

not with a "custom rom" but a "Official rom" !!
If you reflsah an official rom, you won't have any problems with warranty.

Hi,
I think I didn't explain myselft.
My question is this:
I want to flash a custom rom. I use Rom Manager, install a recovery image and install a custom rom. so far so good.
But if I have a problem with my phone and I have to use the warranty. This way I loose the warranty.
But if I flash the official ROM, when I send the phone to the warranty, they can tell if I flashed a phone with a differente rom, if I rooted it? If I flash it will erase the recovery image, the root, everything? And I will not have any problem?
Thanks

As i wrote before, use THIS method. After this you'll have ORIGINAL STOCK ROM which was in your phone after unboxing. There will be no sign of rooting, custom ROM, etc.

as I already said, if you flash Official rom of you region (or operator) (with method 1 or method 2, no matter) you'll have no problem with warrenty

Restoring to stock ROM (N1 ATT)

I have been testing the N1 for a few days, and just making sure there aren't any hardware issues before I void the warranty (possibly) through unlocking the bootloader and flashing a ROM. I would like to know if it is possible to revert to a factory settings ROM with exactly the "out of the box" settings and OS.
Backup: Unlock, install a RA-nexus recovery, save current ROM to SD, save settings with a backup app.
Restore: Start RA-nexus, recover ROM from SD, do factory settings wipe.
Is this correct?
Currently you can't relock the bootloader, you can revert everything apart from this. It does void your warranty but apparently HTC have been decent about fixing rooted N1s with hardware defects anyhow.

As @nDrg said, you can't relock the bootloader, but you can restore the phone completely to the stock ROM... download the EPE54B stock ROM, rename it to PASSIMG.zip, copy it to the SD card, enter bootloader mode. The phone will find the zip and ask you if you want to apply the update... this will restore everything to the stock EPE54B ROM
Didn't work for me, please help...
Hello,
I tried to place the above listed file on my SD (tried the one from the link on your sig, and one from another source) and could not get it to recognize the file from bootloader, nor could I flash it from zip (via recovery).
I have been searching for a way to revert to stock ROM for days now (and I have been researching) and I can't seem to find a way that I can get to work. (I am running both cyanogenmod 5.06, and modaco's sense - switch back and forth with the RA revovery screen). I can't connect reliably to wifi on either, and want the option to go back to stock.
I'm very much new to Android (and the Nexus) thus I'm probably just missing some things that are obvious to more advanced users.
I was hoping that you might be willing to post a step by step guide to reverting to stock for newbies? (Explain each step, eg. I barely know what fastboot is). Or, do you know of a guide that you could point me (and others I'm sure) to?
One might ask why I rooted and modded my device when I did not understand enough of what I was undertaking to reverse the process. One would be absolutely correct in such a question! That being said, if anyone is willing to help, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks so much,
Randy
Just curious why you'd want to go back to stock?

@prettyboy85712:
I do love both cyanogenmod and modaco's sense rom, but I haven't been able to connect via wifi on either for quite awhile (though normal network connection works fine). To be more specific, if I have been able to connect via wifi without the sim card in the phone, but not with it inserted.
As well, it seems like a good idea to be able to revert to stock if I did need to (stock updates, etc.) and I'd like to try wifi with stock, to see if it's the phone or the ROM. (My fault for not figuring out how to do this before I modded )
Thanks so much,
Randy
if u want to go completely back where u still receive ota (minus the locked bootloader that u can't change that its unlocked) u can download the signed secure nexus 1 Rom from modaco and then flash the boot, system, and recovery.img though fast boot go to nexus one forum and search rolling back to stock Rom it gives detailed instructions on how to do it I did it to make sure it works and was simple it is and u even get ota updates from Google hope this helps if u need any help just send me a pm good luck let us know how it goes

[Q] No signal after unlocking bootloader

Hello everyone, I managed to unlock my phone's bootloader the other day just to end up with the above problem.
Although I've heard that you can loose signal when the line on the s1tool says "NOT RECOGNIZED" whereas in my log ot said "SEMC". Doesn't that mean that it is safe to unlock the bootloader? Then why am I having this problem?
What can I do to fix it?

If you can connect to PCC, then repair your phone! the PCC will will restore your phone to stock ROM. Then you use Stool to "re-lock" your phone again.
If you can't connect via PCC, then do the following:-
1) Download a stock rom,
2) Use Flashtool to flash your phone with the stock ROM you downloaded
3) Use Stool to "re-lock" your phone again.
4) Re-boot and you should be getting your signal back by now!
5) Re unlock your bootloader again, should be OK.
Please don't mess the steps in sequences, if you re-lock your phone"not in stock rom" will break your phone.
Yeah, everything is working fine except the signal problem.
Another thing (might be completely irrelevant).
I flashed GDX v022 without flashing the addons package. Does that have anything inside that controls the signal or something? (highly doubt it)
I followed this guide everything worked for me. Look at this guide and see if you missed anything or did something wrong.

No, if you flash GDX (on Stock Kernel) without the Stock Kernel Modules AddOn you just won't get: ax8smartass.ko, ax8mt.ko, ext3.ko, ext4.ko, jdb.ko, jbd2.ko, x8gesture.ko, x8mddi.ko and x8uv.ko
There's not a single file having to do with GSM/2G/3G radio, so it's, as you already put it, completely irrelevant.
So were you able to restore your phone?

Thanks for the guide. I think I mistakenly executed "msm7227_Setool2.cmd" instead of "msm7227_semc.cmd".
Getting ready to restore original firmware with SEUS and later relock the bootloader
Can anybody tell me in what order should I root, unlock BL, install custom ROM and then a custom Kernel?

you should: root, unlock BL, flash kernel, when phone restarts enter cwm by back button, now flash rom
btw I suggest u to try MiniCM, its so smooth.
Another thing...(sorry for so many questions )
I managed to unlock BL and GSM is working fine. Thanks everyone.
Before all this, I made a backup of GDX in CWM. In another tutorial I read that you should remove everything inside the modules folder before attempting to install a custom kernel. The thing is that GDX already has some files there. Is it safe if I flash the kernel and then restore the ROM I backed up?
I flashed alfs kernel and..I don't see speed improvement...actually it's worse...maybe I shouldn't have deleted all the files in modules folder. Is that the cause of the lagginess?
If look into my other post from above I listed what modules the Stock Kernel Add-On contains - you only need to weed out that ones.
MDDI (aka "lag fix"), ext3/4, (fake) dual-touch, et al should come per default as a integral part of the custom kernel (i.e. Alfs).
Just look into the GDX ROM ZIP and copy the default files from the ZIP to your SD, into the modules folder, set permissions, reboot ... or simply re-flash the GDX ZIP.

Samsung S plus (i9001) Auto-restart problem, and other issues

Hello to all!
First of all thank u xda for beeing so usefull to all android users (like me).
I bought my s plus in April, one week later i´ve sucessfuly rooted (thanks to xda developers ).
Unfortenely this model by samsung isnt popular in my country (Portugal) and this time I could really need your help.
My s plus auto restarts. Sometimes 1x month, 1x week, today por example it restarts 3x in 1 minute. I know when he restarts because i hear the welcome song from samsung.
My question is, is there something I could do to solve this problem?
And the second questions is, what are the benefits of having a new rom. And if it solves problems like this one in particular.
The last question : there´s a app that does "fix permissions". Could this be the source to my smartphone restart??
THANK YOU
First, what ROM do you use? Is it brand one, (i.e you didn't change it since you bought the phone)?
Secod, which apps did you give a superuser permission? For example Invalid or infected app with root access could cause this. Generally rooting your phone means you can easily mess up something (you are administrator, so you can access ALL system files). Try to do a factory reset (for example hard reset with the code *2767*3855# - be advised in will delete EVERYTHING exept your external sdcard and get rid of ROOT) and then install only those apps you trust.
Yes, changing ROM could fix this problem in particular, the same way reinstalling operating system (e.g Windows) can fix a computer if it misbehaves. However this could also be a hardware problem, and in this case flashing ROM won't help and you should take your phone to manufacturer on warranty.
On the other hand it is good to flash custom ROM on i9001 because this phone has a good potential, and custom ROMs will give you a lot of advantages over brand ROM.
Fix permissions is a script which ensures that every App and App data are on their place - matching themselves. If used properly it rather fixes problems than causing them (I used this option a lot), but I am not specialist at this matter.
Hi there.
Thank you so much for the reply!!
The rom of my smartphone its the brand one.
Other specs : Firmware : 2.3.5
Gingerbread.bukp2
I have installed the app superuser + link2sd after I rooted. So i think all the programs have permission. Each time i install a app, it goes to sd card.
I was avoyding a factory reset. I will only do that if there is no other option. And when I do, i will get rid of root and go to the vodafone store with its warranty.
I allready see that there are a lot of roms for the i9001 . I agree with you, there are a lot of pottencial in this phone. What sould i choose? And to install other rom, will it erase all data??
I have the app ROM MANAGER. I never used because i´m afraid not using it right. There is a option that says : "fix permissions".
So..lol....can you give me some advice??
Thank you

Hi there.
So i´ve found several websites that explains how to update to 2.3.6
I have a question, I´m from Portugal and in here there are no oficial updates from samsung, the latest its 2.3.5 .
Can i install a version from other country in Europe? Portuguese language??
Thanks
Don't be afraid o losing data - that's what backups are for. Flashing new ROM means losing all data - system partitions, apps, settings, contacts, call history, sms, and your internal sdcard (/sdcard partition). External sdcard (/emmc partition) is not touched.
Find a "Flashing a ROM" guide on this forum, read read and read it again. Then you will know pretty much everything needed to flash a new ROM.
There is a good site to begin with: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_Plus/GT-I9001

Hehe, that's how fixing thing work. Maybe it'll work, maybe not
Some other guy claims that its the problem of brand 2.3.3 ROM, so factory reset WON'T solve this problem in my opinion. You have to flash new ROM. What can I suggest?
If you are not afraid o losing warranty (I wasn't) I'd install MoonROM or BroodROM. These are heavily modified custom ROMs, that are very stable, battery friendly, very popular, very customizable, tested many times and considered best. Note that replacing brand ROM voids your warranty, but you can backup your brand ROM with recovery (e.g TWRP - Team Win Recovery Project) and restore it anytime you want (restoring your warranty as well).
If you don't want to lose warranty, it's good to install Stock ROM. It is official ROM released by Samsung, but not ported by your service provider. On this site, there is also list of Stock ROMs. Almost all of them have european languages.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_Plus/GT-I9001#Gingerbread_2.3.6
XXKQ1 is most stable and best Stock ROM so far.
XXKQB or XXKQE are prettier (value pack) but more buggy and less stable
Cheers
Edit: Don't use Kies to flash a new ROM. I soft-bricked my phone with it. Flash via Odin or via Recovery
I haven't backup of my stock rom. Now my USB it is broken. Is it possible to flash a backup stock rom to send my phone in warranty?
Thank u so much for beeing so usefull!
I will try a flashing rom!
I have one last question : do i need to unroot my phone before flashing a new rom ? The costumized roms gives us superuser permissions ? I rooted my phone so i can pass the apps to the sd card and to unistall apps like "sims trial...".
Maybe tomorrow i will try to flash a rom, but first i need to know this
Thanks a lot

1) Good
2) With S-OFF, you have the totally control of your phone.
For example, now, you're S-On (you can read it in bootloader), but you can't change or edit some file in some directory of soc, like the directory where are allocated the code for "tampered line etc".
P.s. For thanking there is a button

You have been thanked btw
"Put rom into your SD".
With our one, we have an Virtual SD into the phone.
In android, you can put the rom into it, and you can flash the rom
P.s. Don't make any wipe with recovery, you can delete your rom.
Do a full wipe in aroma when it ask you for choose.
You can also flash a rom without it on the phone, but with an OTG cable
And, for me, TWRP is better then CWM

hi again, sorry for so many questions but this one is driving me craizy!
i unlocked my phone via www.htcdev.com and tried the twrp recovery, got root and everything was dandy. But as it turns out i have gotten a phone that has the buildquality problem with cracks, and spacing in the chassie. so i would like to send it back and get a new one. So i try to unroot the device but no luck.
I have tried the supersu app---> options---> full unroot. I have to restart, but then root and the root icon is back. how can i fix this, so that the device is unrooted? Have also tried factory reset after that.

Need help
Hello, i'm newbie here, trying to learn some stuff, i searched the forum but i couldn't find it, i think this page is most appropriate to post it here.
Well i want to flash a custom rom, but my first attempt went not good for me. I've lost my imei and panicked, anyway by flashing stock sony rom i recovered it.
Now i unlocked my bootloader again (it was locked again after i flashed my stock firmware back), rooted my phone, and learned that nandroid app can make a full backup, and even i screw things up (except hard bricking i guess), that backup will save me. So i downloaded it made a full back up, but it says "back up type: clockwork or TWRP,"
And i heard that TWRP is not for Xperia Z1. Thats why i decided to not install it,
Then i installed clockwork rom manager, it said "this app requires clocwork recovery", but i couldnt find a appropriate version of clockwork recovery, the ones i found on play store were for android 4.0.4, and mine is 4.4.4
You guys probably understand that i know almost nothing about this stuff, (i have only got what i read form forums), so what should i do, which version of clockwork should i install or is there any other supported apps that i can use my nandroid backup?
Soka, i checked your link but couldnt be sure about which link should i click.
And another question, do i still need titanium backup while i have nandroid?
Thanks in advance

CWM Recovery
There two methods:
1. Unlock your bootloader and flash a custom kernel (Bootloader Unlock is required for flashing custom roms which are not stock based; for example cyanogenmod)
-> with a custom kernel you have cwm and often twrp also.
2. check this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/development/newroot-z1-t2807092
maybe you have to flash .108 kernel to use newroot, after rooting you can flash the actually kernel from your firmware....
