Need help
Hello, i'm newbie here, trying to learn some stuff, i searched the forum but i couldn't find it, i think this page is most appropriate to post it here.
Well i want to flash a custom rom, but my first attempt went not good for me. I've lost my imei and panicked, anyway by flashing stock sony rom i recovered it.
Now i unlocked my bootloader again (it was locked again after i flashed my stock firmware back), rooted my phone, and learned that nandroid app can make a full backup, and even i screw things up (except hard bricking i guess), that backup will save me. So i downloaded it made a full back up, but it says "back up type: clockwork or TWRP,"
And i heard that TWRP is not for Xperia Z1. Thats why i decided to not install it,
Then i installed clockwork rom manager, it said "this app requires clocwork recovery", but i couldnt find a appropriate version of clockwork recovery, the ones i found on play store were for android 4.0.4, and mine is 4.4.4
You guys probably understand that i know almost nothing about this stuff, (i have only got what i read form forums), so what should i do, which version of clockwork should i install or is there any other supported apps that i can use my nandroid backup?
Soka, i checked your link but couldnt be sure about which link should i click.
And another question, do i still need titanium backup while i have nandroid?
Thanks in advance
My device is C6903
4.4.4

CWM Recovery
There two methods:
1. Unlock your bootloader and flash a custom kernel (Bootloader Unlock is required for flashing custom roms which are not stock based; for example cyanogenmod)
-> with a custom kernel you have cwm and often twrp also.
2. check this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/development/newroot-z1-t2807092
maybe you have to flash .108 kernel to use newroot, after rooting you can flash the actually kernel from your firmware....

Hi there bro...
In the Link ...
Check this out ...
http://prntscr.com/4ow7hp ... download the one the red arrow is pointing at. Unzip and run BAT file. When Prompted onscreen connect device to PC.
This will install recoveries and an app called NDR Utils. With this app you can choose the primary recovery of your choice.
I prefer using Philz...(CWM) based. Important rule i've always followed make backups ( Nandroid).

Hello guys, im planning to root and flash my wildfire device for the first time, i already studied and review all related things on hot thing done in wildfire..
now, the only question and seems not posted here..
As i bought my wildfire the stock ROM version is "1.25.707.1 cl227575 release-keys", where can i download this ROM so that incase i got a problems with different custom roms i can revert it back to my original rom version, i cant seems to find it in SHIPPED-ROMs website..
and if there no such thing as that version in the net, is it possible to backup my original ROM?.. (i guess not because i need first the custom loader to have the backup features which will wipe first my original rom before i can backup)..
Thanks!..
as far as i am aware you can use unrevoked to root your phone. this will also install clockworkmod which replaces stock HTC recovery tool. within clockword mod you can make a backup of your current ROM and all apps and settings etc. you dont need a custom ROM to backup your existing ROM. just need your phone to be rooted. which is pretty much a one click process once you have got the windows drivers installed.
not sure about posting external links on forum but google unrevoked and see this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7895908&postcount=127
good luck
i had an issue with my newley purchased one and was advised to try flashing a non stock rom to see if the problem would go. it has not and i now need to put the phone back to standard htc sense 4.1 firmware.
I am ssuming that while the phone has bootloader unlocked still and rooted that i can download 4.1 firmware as a zip and put on the memory then flash from recovery? Once done i will use the tool-kit i used to unlock bootloader and root etc to take these off?
Can anyone link me to the correct firmware i need as there seems to be many listed and im not sure which it is.
At the moment i have Android rev 12 on there.
thanks
Come on a fair bag full of posts, but you haven't given the details of the phone.........
And if you have a nandroid backup of the original rom then restoring that returns the phone to how it was.
Or look here:

Can someone please clarify for me....
i used the Hanson - all in one tool kit to unlock bootloader, put on recovery and root the phone. I then installed Android rev 12 to my phone.
I now want to go back to stock and dont have any back up so....
do i just download the stock 4.1 htc rom (this one http://goo.gl/3YQED) then flash this to my phone using the recovery method i used to flash android rev?
do i then just use the Hanson tool kit to remove root and re-lock the bootloader?
Not worried about the phone being completely clean as long as the root has gone and its showing the standard htc firmware in the 'about phone' section....phone is going back to be exchanged due to a hardware fault.
thanks
ive been trying to follow this thread but i seem to get myself lost as i did most of what it says using the toolkit and not adb on computer.
Every time I trie to update to the latest ROMs I notice they specifically target the new bootloader. I have no idea what the old vs new bootloader dilemma is about but I bet my device runs the old one, I read somewhere the white LG logo on startup hints to an old bootloader,
My question is how to upgrade my bootloader or ROM directly to Kitkat the easiest way possible, I bought my handset already CMed and unrooted but I have never done it myself.
Thank you in advance, and if you could bother throw in some links to relevant threadshttp://forum.xda-developers.com/images/icons/icon8.gif

They are New Bootloader only! The process seems as easy as full wipe + flash the zip (my phone came with ROM Manager 4.5.0.1 with old recovery) but I fear my bootloader in incompatible. Is there a way to update or something.
Also does my sd card and all applications get removed, and how to back them up, also if I brick my device does the recovery still work to flash the back up or what? very noob I know, I learned alot of terms but never managed to make good sense of it all, thank you.............
Oh one minute my ROM Manager has an Install ROM from SD Card button, can I do it right inside ROM Manager?

With that you can backup/resotre and change the bootloader and alot more AiO-Toolkit
If you change the bootloader layout, as i know all stuf will be removed. so make a nandroid backup, if your new rom is not working and make a sdcard backup(also in aio) to get appdata back if you want.
If you dont want to download all apps new after having new rom use titanium backup. the recovery is not breakable. it will always work. not important if you **** your rom

As you do have CM 7.1 installed, I guess you've got a custom recovery installed too? I don't think you can directly use ROM manager to install a kernel, but you can use ROM manager to boot into recovery mode and flash the zip from there Just be sure to make a nandroid backup, just in case KK isn't compatible with 7.1.
If you ever want to get tonyp's CM 11 though, the AIO toolkit, as @Zubeplanet pointed out, is really easy to use to get the new bootloader.
Happy flashing!
Hi, I'm running Benny's 4.3 (build number 3.04.651.2) Deodexed (because i do not see any .odex files in the system folder, right?) and I want to flash the update which keeps popping up in the notifications every 24 hours after clearing app data.
I tried doing the OTA update but my phone goes into TWRP. My biggest concern is flashing the stock rooted update because my phone really isn't rooted. I have SuperSu on the phone and sometimes I get "SuperSu has been granted permission" or something like that but Root Checker app says the phone does not have proper root access. I don't really know what is going on because I took my phone to a repair center to get it unlocked shortly after i got the official OTA 4.3 update. I read that you need to downgrade to 4.1 and then unlock the phone through SimUnlockHelper apk. When I got my phone back everything was working as it should and my phone is indeed unlocked.
My biggest concern is flashing a stock rooted rom because of the fact that my phone does not have proper root access. Would you recommend doing this and are there any precautions I should be aware of because I had nothing to do with rooting or tweaking android before since this is my first phone that runs android officially.
Thanks!

use the backup feature in twrp to make a nandroid and flash a stock rooted 4.3 rom. if it doesn't work restore your backup. if u need any info the sticky thread at the top of this section by bd19 will really help. read thoroughly. fyi you cannot ota with a custom recovery (twrp) you need stock recovery.

^This is the safest option @Andza195
BTW, imo, it should work, but just backup just in case. Also, if something doesn't work, the real best method is just to download the newest version of the ROM, back (everything that's important to you) up, wipe everything in TWRP except Internal Storage (because this is where the flashable .zip is at!) and flash the ROM fresh.

Just flashed the stock rooted kitkat rom and everything is working as it was before, thank you all for your help!
Hi,
A friend of mine has an E1 D2004, he says he can't install any apps because it says it's out of space, so I'm researching to see if I can help him out with it. I have some experience of installing recovery/rooting/custom roms on my nexus devices, but no knowledge of Xperias.
I've read through many of the posts here for improving the performance of this phone, and I'm thinking to first try debloating it as in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-e1/development/flashable-debloater-xperia-e1-t3098724
I've seen another method to disable services, I think using the script is a bit more complete though?
I'm also very intrigued to try installing this custom ROM, (if my friend is willing to try it). The only question I have there is that it lists for D2005... I think D2004 is basically the same phone, can anyone please confirm this ROM is good for the D2004 as well?:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-e1/development/illuminated-rom-xperia-e1-d2005-kk-lb-ub-t3230441
And I have a couple of basic questions:
1) how to make a backup before changing anything? (Is it necessary to install philz recovery before a backup can be made)
2) how to restore if anything goes wrong?
3) I've seen firmware updates mentioned in various places, where do these come from?
thanks for any help
1. You can install Philz Recovery If your friend's phone has an unlocked bootloader (try to unlock it first)
2.If anything goes wrong you can always use the recovery, or install a new firmware (XperiFirm)
3. Look above.

Philz Recovery can be installed on locked bootloader, no need to unlock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-e1/general/cwm-philz-touch-recovery-xperia-e1-t3073174

Thanks, I didn't come across XperiFirm before! I was a bit uncertain about the flashtool because when I looked at the listed firmwares on the website I didn't see D2004 listed. I guess that doesn't matter if I use XperiFirm to download it.
Can anyone confirm if D2004 is the same as D2005 for the purposes of installing a custom ROM?
